Future Music

Something that's never had any depth put into it is what kind of musical genres people in the far-flung year of 2458 listen to. Character themes are one thing, but as to what the characters actually listen to on their time off, during their commutes, while working out, at the club, etc... that hasn't been touched. So how about we touch on it now? What sort of music do you think would be topping the charts 442 years from now?

I'm thinking the future might see niche genres like electro-swing propelled to the mainstream.

Mrychny listens to a special audio blend of police sirens, people whispering "I'm going to cut you" and "come here little kitten", as well as dogs barking, children crying, and the various scream of shitcurity as he patrols about the station.

After reviewing Rusty's list, only the first of which I knew, it inspired me to come up with a list of my own of suggested musical features of the future. I tried to stick along with the theme of a more electronic timbre, while retaining a more homophonic texture as most hit pieces tend to be.

I imagine everyone listens to the same genre. As humans, of course.

Unathi probably love more "primal" music. Wardrums, that sort of stuff.

Tajara probably like classical music.

Skrell probably like pop (fukken weebs.)

Dionae probably don't care/listen to anything.

Vuarca probably don't care.

Machines are varied, as they can have brains from any of these species.

Vox would clearly love dubstep.

Actually, Adhomai is more partial to electroswing, the blues, ragtime, big band and swing, and jazz - early onset of rock and roll and pop amongst younger generations.

Just some examples.

Voxstep is now canon.

Incidentally, I discovered the sauce of your profile picture whilst browsing music videos, and even more so, it coincidentally sounds like it could be some pretty neat future music.

Gotta love 90's Japanese techno!
