Reason for complaint: Playing a bound-vaurca antagonist

Approximate Date/Time: 20th march 2016, 0400 approx

As far as i'm aware, bound vaurca aren't allowed to be antagonists. I recall moderators and admins saying it somewhere. If you're going to play as a bound vaurca, you're expected to opt-out of all antagonist roles in the character creation screen.

In this round, the mentioned player was playing as Ka'Vaix Zeke Zo'ra, a bound vaurca from the Zo'ra hive. He spent most of the round as a janitor, running around spreading gasoline on the floors. And i looked pretty silly trying to tell others that he doesn't have the free will to do that, and that someone must be giving him specific orders

At the end after we evacuated, it turned out the round mode was Traitor, and this player was one of the main antagonists of the round.

Bound vaurca being antags doesn't make sense. What if he'd been a vampire, expected to command and coordinate an army of thralls. Or the leader of a raider gang? The Bound vaurca caste are little more than empty vessels without an intellect, little more than instinct, they serve and cannot command others or take inititative

I see nothing in the wiki saying that bound vaurca are not allowed to be antagonsits.

Also, as I told you in the ahelps, this is possible;

Notably, the Lii'dra are exclusive to antagonists and events, with no exceptions (though an antagonist Vaurca can be from another hive, or pretend to be from another hive while being from Lii'dra).

And a character's backstory can be overridden if they are antag, since it is not canon. The fact that the vaurca was bound matters little for him to be antag or not in the round in question.

I have no idea where you are getting your info nanako. We have never prohibited any race from being an antag. That would be hilariously stupid.

It logically would not make sense for a bound vaurca to be an antagonist, as someone could simply tell it not to do anything bad, to reveal all of it's plans, and then to show itself to a jail cell.

The whole point here though is that Vaurca can pretend to be bound or unbound if they're an antagonist, and as such, the claim that bound Vaurca can't be antags is nullified.

When you're an antagonist all lore about your character is thrown out, and replaced with whatever you want.

Is it too crazy to think the Syndicate have Vaurca in their hire? They could plant sleeper Vaurca in NanoTrasen, and have them pretend to be bound and be a 'zzztupidbugck'

It gives an entire new dynamic to antagonist roles, and security, cause would a human who shot someone to death, be able to plead that something was planted on them? No. It doesn't happen.

Sleepy and Dreviore have it about right here.

There's absolutely no reason bound Vaurca can't be antags. You can play it so many different ways: Only pretending to be bound, being bound to Lii'dra (which carries different impliations, including the understanding all decent drones should have of not disgracing and embarassing the hive by hurrdurr'ing all the information up when asked...), et cetera.

I'm inclined to lock this within the next 24 hours if the OP has nothing else to add.

Furthermore, let's not derail this into a discussion of lore and tweaks. This is a complaint, not a suggestion board.
