sonicgotnuked Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 I joined half way in and became the captains paper pusher robot, copy and pasting some of the IAA interview inside paper (I will never do that again, it was painful) but I am going to question a few things. Why did this turn into a OOC issue Why did you make the complaint fourm basically speaking for the vampire who clearly stated he does not care and should just be forgotten about Just don't cannon it Player complaints are OOC issues with you trying to push a warning or worse agenced a player for mistakes and communication errors. I honesty don't think it's worth the head ache to go through this entire situation after it was discarded by the vampire himself and CCIA and you should all just move on with your lives. I think we all agree, just lock and archive.
Guest Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 I think we all agree, just lock and archive. that's not up to you to decide whatsoever, you cannot in good faith just say "shut down this discussion because I don't want to talk about it", that's horrifically wrong and it is not how this works. Abendroth has an unpleasant reputation as a security player, but the major issues normally stem from the six-to-seven foot tall Nia Snyder that wantonly cares not for security procedure, any respective authority they personally view as incompetent or bad, or for actual authority attempting to discipline their character for stepping way out of line. Remember the time they attacked a HoS with lethal weaponry for no reason and without any valid RP leadup, said HoS then retaliated in kind with equivalent force, leading to Snyder being shot until dead? Pretty sure Hive would remember. That's how far it got with Snyder and I don't believe they got a job-ban for that. If they did, correct me. But to hear that their behavior is still continuing for the once in a blue moon that the player joins on the server with the same problem character? It's only surprising to see nothing has been done as of yet, rather than whether the behavior coming from Abendroth and their character is shocking itself. I don't know about Roderick Grey, as I'm not familiar with the player nor any of their characters. I don't believe they should be disciplined to an egregious extent, but I would wholeheartedly support a job-ban being played on Abendroth, for it's something that's been a long time coming for awhile. They've been told to stop a few times now, right? Right. No more warnings, they've been given enough.
UnknownMurder Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Why did this turn into a OOC issue Because it was not something the Central Command Internal Affairs Agents could handle due to antag's involvement as ruled by ForgottenTraveler, our Head CCIA. Why did you make the complaint fourm basically speaking for the vampire who clearly stated he does not care and should just be forgotten aboutBecause it was something between the Acting Captain Oliver Roadman and Warden Nia Synder. Just don't cannon it It's not canon due to antag's involvement. Player complaints are OOC issues with you trying to push a warning or worse agenced a player for mistakes and communication errors. I honesty don't think it's worth the head ache to go through this entire situation after it was discarded by the vampire himself and CCIA and you should all just move on with your lives. I think we all agree, just lock and archive. That's what we're here for. Again, ForgottenTraveler, the Head CCIA, said that this could not become something that CCIAs can touch due to the antag's involvement in this case. I appreciate you trying to resolve a complaint, but the complaint still sets unrest between the individuals, myself being part involved somewhat little unrest (not too much) considering the outcome of this with my authorizations/powers given over to the Acting Captain in my absence. Only post if involved. If you are not a moderator or administrator and were not involved in the incident(s) referred to, you may not post or reply to a player complaint regarding said incident(s). As for you Chaznoodles, Gabol. Those are still irrelevant. You shouldn't be in this topic as accordingly to Player Complaint Rule #1. I'd like to stay on this topic. I await for admins to come and review this complaint for a long time.
Abendroth Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 People seem to have this idea that I act without reason, without usually looking too deep into the issue. Sure, I'm going to admit there have been rounds where I have acted totally out of line, usually due to the situation getting out of hand IC and I just react. But I try to not abuse Security authority as much as possible. Most people also seem to forget the rounds where I have acted up as Nia, and gotten in trouble for it, do not happen every round. Most rounds when I play, I do my job as best I can, arrest people when needed and leave them to the Warden or some other Officer to deal with before returning to patrol, usually staying within the regulations Security requires. If I am Warden I keep my brig a fair place, and don't abuse prisoners as much as possible. However when antags get thrown into the mix, or someone like a specific HoS during a certain round becomes needlessly aggressive to the point of aiming a gun at me? Things can go fubar, and I try to act as a human would in a dangerous situation. Have I been shot at, beaten, cut, or burned to near death by an antag? Have they been actively trying to kill me and won't stop until I end up having to kill them? That's the kind of situation Nia seems to keep finding herself in, where she has been under attack from very dangerous people, and needs to keep herself alive. So after spending lets say, five to ten minutes in a life or death situation, and she finally manages to get the enemy down to the ground... Does she stop to think "Hm, should I arrest him" or does she think "I have ten bullet wounds in my chest, I've been stabbed repeatedly, I'm bleeding everywhere, and I'm pumped up on adrenaline. I'm going to keep hitting him until I know for a fact he won't get up"? People seem to forget humans are not always rational, and can go to extremes when pushed, in situations as I just gave. And I think that's something people need to remember more often. We're playing characters in a game, but they're supposed to be human. (excusing alien races, but you get the idea). That means they can never be perfect, and will fuck up on occasion, doing something their job or morals normally wouldn't allow. Nia, when treated like a piece of shit by her superiors, or nearly killed, gets mad like any normal person would. She feels and vents the rage that builds up in such a situation, once her composure breaks. If treated fairly by her superiors, and she handles an antag well? She's a good person to be around, willing to talk and joke with anyone, catch a drink or two. In my honest opinion, we shouldn't be punished so harshly for things going fubar, since most of the time it's not within our control to stop it. Do antags end up dead, or HoS's getting shot after treating Nia like shit and threatening her, restraining her and generally abusing her? Sure, shit happens, but at the end of the day it's just a game. I try my best to have fun while staying within the rules, but sometimes someone just ends up dead, by accident or not. I've had some pretty shit rounds where I've been killed for really bad reasons, tortured, publicly executed by antags, etc etc. Do I run to the nearest mod/admin/etc and complain about it and the players? No, I let it go and move onto the next round. I also get treated like shit a lot by people in game, but I also let that go on the next round. I see no reason why I should be treated like a villain OOC for having a few bad rounds. That was very long and kinda rambled on a bit, sorry about that. Just trying to put my thoughts into words. At the end of the day, we all just gotta let it go and have fun.
Keknar Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Topic is being temporarily locked until it can be reviewed by staff.
Garnascus Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 First off i apologize for letting this sit for so long. School starting up + a new world of warcraft expansion has made me forget this wonderful slice of heaven exists sometimes. Regardless i am still going to come in swinging so *cracks knuckles* This situation starts with brayce, roderick says it best when he says respect is a two way street. You entered into a situation you knew nothing about and immediately started barking orders. I understand that from your point of view it looked pretty bad and with the supernatural involved opinions are going to differ. Regardless a good leader at least gives the other party a chance to explain and certainly doesnt try to pull rank when they tell you to fuck off. You also by your own admission found yourself in the HoS office purely to piss off security. Thats the kind of stuff that gets you taken into a dark maintenance tunnel and harm batonned until your legs are boken. acting captain or not.The Captain who came in late is kind of guilty as well. You took the side of a fellow command member and signed suspension paperwork without interviewing the other side. You had an IRL thing come up so you handed the reins off to roadman. Yes there are standards security has to be held to but given the giant clusterfuck this situation was if i was going to job ban anyone it would be half the players who had a hand in this round. No i do not consider this "torturing a prisoner". They RPed something as the alternative was literally just him sitting in solitary. It was certainly a dumb move IC and something they should have AT LEAST communicated with command before hand but like i said everyone is kind of a diphead in this situation. Yes there is some OOC expectation of following the chain of command but its not holy scripture that must be adhered to. Especially given round circumstances. Fuckin hell people...
Garnascus Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 I will unlock this for any closing comments. I will probably lock and resolve this when i wake up.
Dreamix Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Didn't you edit/remove your post? In the old version Abendroth was supposed to be permanently job-banned from security and Roderick job-banned from security for three days. There was also a standard 'don't do this, kids' talk, just like the current one. What happened.
Garnascus Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 I changed my mind after talking with other staff. Shouldnt have submitted that. Anyways, i am locking and archiving this.
