Craftable FBPs/IPCs

I'm wondering how many Aurora players would like to be made into FBPs (Basically like IPCs but with MMIs) instead of borgs, that way if they can only recover your brain you won't be force lawed to an AI. Alternatively, having IPCs able to be made could come along with this, perhaps a borg doing so well to earn their freedom and an IPC? Lemme know what y'all think.

I like this.

There should be a way to recover IPC brains/bodyless human brains without borging them, and I think it's a good option that this exists.

I think it might be better to allow reconstruction of incredibly damaged IPC chassis/shells using a load of materials and time, this would essentially make building borgs entirely pointless unless it's a punishment, since they could just come back as a human but now with **metal** and who wants to be a lobotmized workhorse for nanotrasen? Also I'm not sure Nanotrasen would pay the costs to facilitate building people chassis, things are expensive and don't guarantee a permanent employee (Unless you set it up like the IPC moving to head thing where the person is in incredible debt and makes very little money until it's paid off.

Bug if I remember you joined kinda recently right? Might be wrong on that, but the reason I'm asking is because we didn't have the mechanical option for human brain IPCs BUT they did exist.

Thing is this option was removed I think a year ago, now I don't know the exact details but I think it was because the LoreOverseers didn't want for IPCs to become this way to transhumanism which isn't really their intended purpose as far as I see it.

Now there are also technicaly parts, like that IPCs can't support MMI's due to heating I think?

The second reason is that cyborgification is a PUNISHMENT and a punishment for life, it's a substitute for execution, it's why borgs are brain murdered so they retain no notion of who they were in their past lives, rewarding a borg by making him an IPC can be compared to reviving a murderer because his corpse was useful.

Now for my opinion.

I personaly am not a fan of robotic transhumanism, firstly because I think AI transhumanism is a concept done to death in so many, many, MANY sci-fi novels that at this point if I see the word "AI" in a newer novel series I put it down, secondly from the fact that a streak of bad interactions with both humanistic Borg and IPC players made me dislike both borgs and IPCs, I know this is completely annecdotal and I'm sure "X robot is not that bad" but I have yet to meet a borg or an IPC I enjoy talking or interacting with. But that's just my opinion.

Both Jackboot and Cake now have formed vehement opposition to even the slightest hint of human transhumanism, so I do not see FBPs as likely.

Constructable IPCs have been on the agenda for some time now, but I have no respect for this memerace, and purposefully push it back in petty spite have been busy,

The short of the long is, Jackboot and I do not want a cyberpunk universe, where humans have become one with machines. And, as Coalf has said, putting organic brains into an IPC completely changes what being an IPC is all about. They would become, dare I say it... humans with metal bodies, because now they are given an actual excuse to act human.

Now, full body prosthesis does exist in the lore, but it is extremely rare, mostly being undertaken by the wealthy (and stupid). It is not common enough to see FBP chassis on the station from day to day.

With the new lore, isn't it nigh impossible anyways, since the brain gets lobotomize to make it transferable to digital?

As i'm aware, that is a misconception. It's more like Surgical Amnesia, not an actual Lobotomy. It was changed recently to 'Memory Recall Removal' Surgery. It was never an actual Lobotomy.

But like... Cake is free to correct me on this if i'm wrong.

If we made IPCs on the station, it would give more gimmick options to rampant AIs, rather than "REEEEE SLAVERY!", it could be along the lines of "I wanna be where the people are. I wanna see, wanna see them dancing"
