Butterrobber202 Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 LORE: Energy shielding is an advanced defensive technology making use of a field of energized particles that wraps around a surface, which deflects objects that attempt to impact the surface. Most energy shields are able to deflect various forms of damage, from material projectiles to directed energy streams. In the year 2457, Human Scientist Adam Roberts re-invented this technology on a smaller scale on a Nanotrasen Research Station. After NT reviewed Roberts' research and decided it would be profitable to pursue, Roberts was given a research lab and a team to continue their work. In the year 2459 Roberts' team pushed their first RIG Mounted Prototype onto NT, results were that the shield generator could produce a shield similar to station generators, but on a much smaller scale. (no idea why I felt the need to make this but I did) ANYWHO, what it does. Adds a new RIG Module that produces a shield around the RIG (and the dude inside the RIG by extension) that is able to deflect various forms of damage. Bullets and energy streams, yay! How does it work in game you ask? Great question. When equipped (or spawned) on a RIG suit it starts off with a full charge. (5/5) Each charge is a 'hit', once the charge hits 0 the shield drops until the user manually charges it back up to full and re-activates it. Sazzy Commentator says: But whats to stop them from just infinitely re-activating it HUH? Good question, you see, being a shield generator is tough work and you need a lot of power to produce one on such a small and concentrated scale. So, when your shield is drained you need to turn on the recharge function, which is going to eat through about 800 energy per charge. So to get a recharge, you need a grand total of 4000 power! Not to mention it takes roughly 30 seconds for each charge to regenerate itself during this process. "hot damn son, what if I don't have 4000 energy left?" says normie RIG suit user good question, luckily you can stop the regeneration process at any point by hitting the button again! anyways, suggestions? Ideas?
Hackie Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 the rigs have already been so power creeped this is ridiculous. I don't see what's the point of this considering how robust rigs are already, you can have your bones broken and still function in rigs.

I don't see what's the point of this considering how robust rigs are already, you can have your bones broken and still function in rigs. It can only take 5 hits before a recharge though. And most rigs are have roughly 10k ish power or less with upgrades. So investing 4000 energy to fully recharge will put your other modules at risk. Not to mention EMPing it obviously cripple it. Aaannnnnd. RIGs that hit 0 power actually turn into metal cages for you to die in
Eve Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 I like the idea, give it to ERT, and maybe to the RIGs in vault.
Pacmandevil Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 >make ERT even more of an instant win button and encouraging vault raiding for OP validhunting shit pls no
Butterrobber202 Posted March 30, 2018 Author Posted March 30, 2018 right since everyone is talking about it being a ERT win button we could just do this Who gets it: Mercs (Uplink) Ninja (Uplink) Heist (random spawn) Deathsquad could also slap it on the Sol Marine RIG for events
LanceLynxx Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 power creep detected. just use a normal energy shield. -1 from me EDIT: Could be a vault item, I could support that.
Brutishcrab51 Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 I can support this being an Uplink item. Maybe an event item, as well. We have k'ois zombies, mental implants, and intergalactic houses of pancakes. I can see a personal energy shield existing. Just make it only soak in a few shots, and be really 'expensive' to recharge. When a hardsuit runs out of energy, it stops functioning, and you choke to death. Has happened to me twice. They aren't all that OP. +1.

Butterrobber202 Posted April 2, 2018 Author Posted April 2, 2018 Again, guys. This would be an expensive item. Not everyone is gonna get a free shield generator. The locations will probs be the vault, Deathsquad rigsuit, then uplinks and events. That’s it my dudes.
Doc Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Add it to mechs instead of RIG suits, and +1. Mechs need love, not RIGs.
Scheveningen Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 I'd prefer that we have personal defense shields that have to be worn on the belt slot instead.
Brutishcrab51 Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 I'd prefer that we have personal defense shields that have to be worn on the belt slot instead. An even better idea right here. As far as making RigSuits OP goes, they could just be an expensive Uplink item (15 TC?), Death Squad Rig addition, or event item (as, understandably, a personal combat shield is Military-grade equipment). I don't see why this shouldn't be an item if we regulate it.

Itanimulli Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Personal defense sheilds? Yes. Suggestion for rigs just eveolved into an even better suggestion.
