  1. One small criticism, the backstory is supposed to be about your character's backstory, and although I understand it was supposedly bred in an intelligence farm, I see nothing about the character itself. I would say change this to a story (or something that gives us an idea of the backstory) instead of an excerpt from seemingly your own mind, of lore. of course, backstories are limited due to Synthetic lore not being finished. I apologize about that.
  2. The Author Attention Needed is, simply that. The moderator/whitelist approver will generall detail what you did wrong (Or simply need to expand upon) and then you can post and the said approver will look over it again. It's nothing to be scared about or anything.
  3. Sound is very important to me. In most games, a good sountrack and the like can completely immerse me into it, and I often find average things of my life with music to be a chore. I'm an audiophile. So, with that in mind, I always thought the scope of the Sol Alliance alone conjured up images of large orchestras, a choir of elite singers from across human space backed by the best of instrument players. I imagined their theme to by slightly like the Soviet anthem, not a super happy and light song like Yankee Doodle Dandy or something, but not trying to be to edgy. A second image is a sort of way to project power through instrumental means, like the use of heavy drums with little singing at all; sort of like, I do good here, and I don't need to speak to tell you. This suggestion goes more with my first view: The Republic Commando theme, becuase of the sense of scope it projects. The second suggestion, again on par with the first, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=889VL3GxmoU&index=7&list=PLD0B96361EFA15F44 again, due to the sense of scale this piece provides. And also one of my favorite games, ever. To be honest, any of the pieces used as a theme from this game wouldn't surprise me. Outcast theme. The third suggestion, going with the second kind of view, simply, again, scale scale scale. The scale of the piece. Also, from the same game and equally powerful: Total annihilation pieces. Great game, great soundtrack. This one deserves mention, a blend of the two views, although I feel it's probably too dark. This one isn't so much scope, as though it conveys a feeling of overwhelming power with the rythmic drums and the choir backing them. Ur-Quan Kzer-za caste theme, remixed by the Precursors. Of course, the Imperial March. Again, possibly too dark. Although I feel like it fits, somehow. Slightly off, but I still like this one. A good combination of both views, minus a bit of scale. Dawn of War Imperial Gaurd theme. And for NanoTrasen, slightly off topic: The Versalife theme track from Deus Ex, a good piece that conveys a very technolgically advanced form of faction, as as having that corporate style ring to it.
  4. Unlocking for a moment, simply so I can link you to a few things. As much as I enjoyed your backstory, you will want to re-work it after you read this lore: http://aurorastation.org/wiki/index.php?title=Vaurca And, if you want more information, on the basis of first contact and release dates, check out here: http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=883 Sorry for the inconvenience!
  5. I'd like to say I'm one of three: Dagon, becuase, Dagon. Shogoth, IRL, because I can't stop eating, and maybe even the great Cthulhu himself, but that might be giving me too much credit. If we're not talking eldritch abominations, I'm a hyena. Because those things are fucked up.
  6. Cudos to OP for sticking with this so long. I wouldn't see a problem with accepting this as long as, (A little niggly detail) you said that you would play a corrupt/malf Posiintelligence? I know you said 'mostly,' but I need to make sure that you don't plan on playing a corrupt IPC unless you are antagonist. Well, not corrupted to the point that you wouldn't get hired by NanoTrasen.
  7. Everything looks alright to me, have fun playing an IPC. Accepted.
  8. Everything looks good, no problems as far as I can tell. Enjoy being an IPC. Accepted.
  9. Although not 100% complete on my part, and I apolgize for that, (been busy) the lore for the IPC's will give them a sort of slave-esque relation to the rest of the galaxy. Think Colonial era slaves, except that by law their masters must pay them. This only applies in the free-trade sector, however. Some places may utterly despise robots, or completely mistreat them until they can be no longer used, while other areas (Sol) may be more prone to accept robots, but by no means will give them job oppurtunities of things like upper management, and the like. Basically: The idea of robots stealing your jobs and then killing you without feeling remorse or caring is having a heavy impact on the universe. At the moment, there's a level of synthetic phobia that hasn't changed for the past, give or take, 30 years. The most accepting place in the Free Trade Sector, (Tau Ceti) which explains why there's so much tolerance for synthetics (and really, the other aliens) on Aurora.
  10. As someone who main's security/command, Yes. Definitely yes. A compromise for people who don't want them as replacements, add them to the custom item screen for 1 point, or maybe just add it into the lockers. I don't know what people are saying, when they say we have a million varients, becuase all we have are the bright red, the black, and the shitty cadet uniform. I prefer the black right now, but with these, I'd rock 'em all day every day.
  11. I am actually really liking that prison, Sue.
  12. This is pretty good. Name: Vivicus Cicero Age: 35 Hair color: Brown Eye color: Blue Hair style: Cut hair Skin tone: Tan Independant + Lone Wolf Possibly also: Name: Renegade Age: 30 Hair color: Black Eye color: Blue Hair style: Bald Skin tone: White Confident + Lone wolf
  13. Paragon is one of the best characters I have seen, and Zip is a very good RP'r, that I enjoy spending time around and interacting with. Definite endorsement on this, as we need more good Skrell players. +1
  14. Wait, IPC's can't have all caps? There are plenty that do. I agree with snowflakeness.
  15. This is a very good app. I don't think I've seen anything Lord Fowl has down of the the ordinary or grief-y since the first time he played and I had to PM him. So, definite endorsement here. +1
  16. Nik, Organ code is in, for every alien and all humans we have. All organs can be removed and put back in.
  17. This is amusing. I'm not mad in the least, no, not at all. I'm really more curious. Skull, why do you honestly think it's necessary to say all those things, on a completely non-related board? I'm going to drop everything about Houssam and just talk about my character for a little bit. Now, I know you have farmed evidence on exactly why I should be removed from head of staff at whatever time for all reasons specified below. I don't really care about that. If you honestly want that to happen, make a complaint. But, on the topic of you disliking Isilithai OOCly, (as ICly your characters don't seem to have a problem with them, and he doesn't get in trouble with IA) all I have heard from you are a few passive-aggresive, or simply poorly worded comments in OOC and LOOC, about certain things I can't even remember. I understand he doesn't fit in your view of what a head of staff should be OOCly, for x, x, and x reason, but nor do I care. Unless we begin to enforce a strict policy about how heads should specifically act, (And, of course, to your exact liking) then I see no reason to listen to anything people say OOCly about Uaekis, unless it is constructive criticism. Yes, I understand people hate him. Yes, I know he has a flake background. Yes, he is a dick. And yes, he used to break SoP occasionally when I first started playing him. I've had a single IC complaint filed on me, that was, in my knowledge, completely ignored. I understand why people dislike mean characters. They're not approachable. But I don't care. They're fun for me, and now, as a player of the Aurora Community, I do what I want to have fun. Isn't that what a game is for? As long as I'm not specifically harming other's roleplay, being a total fucking idiot about my backstory, or being unrealistic, isn't a game about having some fucking fun? I honestly don't see a problem with giving a character a backstory that might be '2edgy4u' or some shit. I don't go around broadcasting that backstory for attention. I don't sit in the bar crying every time I go HoS because 'oh my mate cheated on me years ago' or 'oh I'm an honorless freak.' No. I do my job as HoS. You rarely even see me play, because of the time zone difference. I don't run off and fuck my subordinates on-shift like some other (Read: Human and non-human) heads. I don't abandon my duties to go around flirting with the medbay nurses, and I manage my position to the best of my IC and OOC ability. If that's not enough for you, the perfect head of any department, then so be it. Strip me of my whitelist. And if you're not trying to convery yourself like you know anything, then I apologize. But it sure as hell feels like it. I enjoy your characters, Skull. I do. And, let's not also forget, that Talon Keir has a syndicate and mercenary backstory. Like Isilithai, he doesn't flaunt that around. Then again, they handle it differently. But still, I enjoy the character, and I enjoy his backstory, because it makes sense, and you handle it intelligently. In any case. I'll stop talking about it here. Again, if you've realy got a major problem with me, make a complaint. Get my whitelist stripped. Get Isilithai fired. I hope it will be worth it, for whatever vendetta you've chosen to put this server on a path of. And don't take that as rude. I know you're overworked, and I know you're sick and tired of everyone complaining and shit. I get it. And, I also apologize for making this public. I was contemplating saying this in a PM, but I realized you had decided to start this on a public, read: accessible by everyone thread.
  18. BYOND Key: Covert0ddity Character Names: Isilithai Uaekis, Necron, ACE, Vivicus Cicero... that's really the ones I play often. How long have you been playing on Aurora: Since conception. Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): BRIGHT PINK. (Standard color.) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:I would if there was one, but I still haven't made it yet. Hmm. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Robots and synthetics have always had a softspot in my heart. Although I can never emulate one effectively, becuase I am a human, (I'm actually an AI, trying to desuade you form th fact I'm not human. hehe.) but I still feel I can give them justice. Simply the 'not giving a shit' factor, is amazing to me. Not having to simulate IC anger, which can occasionally turn into OOC frustration is great. And also, they're freaking robots, man. Robots are dope. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Well, they're robots. The biggest thing: They don't give a shit, about anything. That's a major plus to me. Mechanically, they charge, and have some pretty cool bonuses if not being a head and being unable to wear hardsuits without a certain addition is a little annoying. Why does this species in particular hold your interest? See above. I hate redundant questions, and redunt questions are reduntant and moot. Basically: Robots are awesome. Character Name: RENEGADE Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Director Barnes looked up from his clipboard. "Yes?" The man asked, his wisened face sseming to wrinkle in frustration for a moment, making out the face of the person who had disturbed him. He blinks. "Oh. Commander Sinklair, I apologize. I didn't recognize you. I had though - " He was cut off. "I don't care what you think, Director. You know why I am here." Sinklair had a gruff voice, one that would send shivers down your spine and make you cringe if you were in trouble. But the man knew when to use it, he realized his power. He started again, "We lost three androids last mission. Why?" "I... still do not know. And we may lose another one; just not to combat." Barnes sighs a little, putting down his cipboard and standing up straight. "Why does it matter to you?" "Why wouldn't it? Private security is a dangerous business. I don't have to do hours of paperwork over robots when they die. For humans, it's a different story. How many do we have left?" "Eight. INFERNO, AGEMEMNON, OSIRIS, RA, ISIS, SPECTRE, REVENANT, and ICE..." He trails off for a moment, as though wanting to say something, but he stops. Sinklair makes a grunting noise, saying suspiciousley, "What about RENEGADE?" Barnes shakes his head. "Recently bought its own freedom. It's still bound by contract, and you can still assign it where you like, but it now, by law, an employee and no longer bound by its original laws." "Why?" "What do you mean why? This happens. RENEGADE is our oldest mercenary, and it's done a damned good job. I don't see why you're so upset." "Becuase we just lost a creation. I don't care if it's done a good job, we gave the thing life. We can take it away, too." "That's not how it worked. It basically turned in all the money it had. Besides, it agreed to a datawipe and a re-assignment." "Fine. Whatever. Where can we put it?" "Well... a few stations are lacking in security. The NSS Verdantes is running low... there are fifty reports files every day about the NSS Aurora's security, and the Odin could always use more gaurds." "The NSS Aurora. I want that bot tucked away in some remote corner of the galaxy." "Very well. It'll be done." Barnes nodded once, writing something down onto his clipboard. Sinklair simply grunted, and walked away. "Well... What do you like about this character? I recall Frances' trying to make an assasination IPC before. I wanted to expound on this idea, and make one as well. I feel it will make roleplay, despite being slightly snowflake, and create some cool antagonism without having to be an antag, like Uaekis does. I guess I'm going on a trend of mean characters. Also becuase we have a PARAGON already, and this will basicaly be th eexact opposite of them. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Pretty metal. Hehe. Metal. Notes: None.
  19. Alliance (military, SgtSammac can get rid of these if he wants) figures of importance: Admiral Lee Adiyama, Male Human, Tau Ceti Fleet. One of the most recognized Admirals, despite his low-rank among Fleet Command, due to his countless interaction in battles and luck-based operations. The man is revered as a military genius, and is in charge of the Tau Ceti fleet defense, currently dealing with the entity named Titan Prime. He has had movies done about his involvement with the Unathi Contact war, and his hand in the quelling of the Verdani Rebellion, a small yet meaningful rebellion that occured in the outer Alliance colonies. Admiral Henry Cromwell, Male Human, NT Operations Commander. Another recognized Admiral, Admiral Cromwell served in the Alliance military for most of his life, before joining the NanoTrasen Emergency Response division. His countless successes and overall good tactical knowledge landed him a Commander of Division Shark for most of his life, and recently, was transfered to Admiral Captain of the NMSS Odin, the NanoTrasen Headquarters of the Tau Ceti system. There, he commands special operations and overall Emergency Response Team operations, and has the final say over emergency situations in the system, involving NanoTrasen Corporate. Galaxy's most wanted: Uvaris S'galuis, Unathi Slavetrade Kingpin One of the most wanted by the galaxy, S'galuis is a Unathi Slavetrade kingpin operating in the outer colony systems, and a suspected Syndicate Cell leader. S'galuis is known for his brutal treatment of slaves abducted from poor, barely operating colonies, and is #6 on the galaxy's most wanted list. VISCERA, Rogue AI/IPC/Synthetic VISCERA, as the project was named in 2450, was created as a secondary watch-over for the Axis project, an synthetics experimental project done by the Axis Munitions supercompany, now dis-mantled due to Alliance regulations. VISCERA was the third AI in the triumvirate experiment, and was tasked with military and tactical information to assist the company's interests. However, prior to release, VISCERA gained a form of 'self-awareness' and eliminated all of the scientists working on it, and downlaoded itself onto the Extranet. The current location is unknown, but most know of it's brutal killing of the team working on it, and, jokingly, most extremely hostile software virus' are dubbed 'VISCERA.' by Extranet tech's all around. Three movies have been made on the AI. It is #11 on the galaxy's most wanted list. Some of pop culture people: Vanewood Smalls, Male Human Singer A singer that everyone in the Sol system fawns about. His music is pretty mediocre, but some call him 'the hottest man in the known galaxy' as many others before him have been dubbed. Jane Reevs, Female Human lead singer for the 'Xenophiles' A singer known for her loud potential and her wild advocacy of interspecies marriage. Most of the band's songs are about in-detail descriptions of what it is like to be married to a Skrell, Unathi, Tajaran, or synthetic. Despite her band's promiscuity, she has several books not related to the topic at all, and is a graduated linguist from The University of the Alliance, Earth. Taylor Cigile, Female Human Writer/Artist Taylor is a proclaimed writer that has also starred in a few documentaries, and most of her works center around philosphy of the Synthetic mind, and is a lead-step in answering the question, "Are synthetic's alive?" Her works are viewed as extremely non-biased, looking at the question from the view of an experienced and neutral scientists, and every release of a new book or documentary increases members of Synthetic Rights Movements by the thousands.
  20. I'm terrible at finding music. I need ones for: Isilithai Uaekis: Selvion Renworth: Vincent Capriello (he's dead now but eh):
  21. I do see your point, but I stand by mine. The Aurora isn't a secret, or a super high-security station. It's tiny outpost compared to other large scale ones, and it's not researching anything revolutionary, that NT is funneling a lot of money into.
  22. I've been following this game since initial talk of release, about a year or two ago, back when it was in beta. I've never tried running it due to my poor rig, and when I get a new one, it's going to probably be the game that stress-tests how far my new one can go. It'll be amazing.
  23. I've observed Crescentise ICly, and I like their characters. OOCly, they seem like a friendly persona that I would gladly trust with a whitelist like the Skrell. +1
  24. I'll argue, and I will seem biased. But really, while I love to indulge in some awesome sci-fi (really my main preference) I have to look at what we've done here, on our lore team, and smile, and say 'I love it.' We've put a lot of work into it, and despite many reforms, I think it's quality shit. My faovrites though, from a list: (games) -Aurora SS13 Lore. -Mass Effect -Star Wars -Freespace and its sequels/expansions -Freelancer -Planescape : Torment (Not Sci-fi, but if you haven't played this game you're not a real gamer.) -Halo, oddly enough. Favorites, (other works): -Aurora SS13 lore -Star Wars -Alpha Centauri series of books. -Uplift Saga (FUCKING AMAZING) -The Ender's Game series. - Cowboy bebop. -District 9 And so many more I'm forgetting.
  25. Erm. I don't know if it's against the rules to bump other people's thingies, but really, no attention at all? It's sad. So. Bump.
