  1. bodies making a squishing noise when you step on them, live or dead. So you know when you're walking on top of someone, and to give people a more auditory cue that they're actually standing on someone.
  2. The way I see it, operatives are typically highly trained, they are well equipped, and would probably represent a sizable investment by the specific corp/ organization that employs them. At the very least, you are running the risk of pissing off a number of organizations for willfully wasting their investment in time/ resources/ manpower/ training. At the worst, you are offering up vital information on your operational readiness by leaving operatives on the station, to be captured or killed. Second, you get a rep for leaving teams high and dry and the next time you're assigned to a team you might get a bullet through the brain. So you should always think twice as to whether or not its worth it to ditch your entire team on enemy ground, think long and hard, because there are more considerations rather than 'im gonna increase my share!!!' Now, as to addressing it, lorewise syndicate isn't fleshed out very well, but perhaps to represent the investment in individual team members, the organization heading the operation could issue compensation reduction based on how much gear needs to be replaced and how many members are lost on the station. So unless you get specific orders from your sponsor to kill/ abandon members of your team, the financial incentive is drastically reduced.
  3. I want to say I'm np way against human supremacy (reminding that I +1'd the original application) however, it should either be a fringe movement or a legitimate political party, having a borderline Nazi party complete with its own governing body and paramilitary arm just realistically isn't going to fly. Bring it into the realm of realism and I'll +1 with Conservan again
  4. i see no real problem with youth groups, young democrats and young republicans are both fairly large movements in the USA and I can't speak for other countries but I'm sure they have equivalents. I think some of you are going too extreme on your reading of the youth group into indoctrination and see it like parents getting their kids involved in the political process from an early age to try and push their opinions. It happens literally every single day in the current world, I don't see why it wouldn't happen in the future. That said, Vit seems to be going too far on the titles, scale it back and keep it normal. Sorry, but no legitimate government is going to allow a political party whose leader styles itself as emperor. It looks like you are trying to trump them up as a semi-autonomous group with its own paramilitary structure when really the only spot they'd hope to occupy is as a fringe political party. In short, the feel I get from this is more KKK than recognized party.
  5. I think what the core suggestion is having lungs collapse and not rupture instadeath
  6. I''d suggest big things touching the body give a message. jumpsuit, backpack, shoes, gloves then maybe glasses because of how noticeable it'd be?
  7. you can set to one job, then have the game bounce you back to lobby if you don't get it under preferences
  8. I don't have any pictures or current ability to edit rooms, but perhaps swapping the current captain's office and meeting room? I mean, for a station that captains are only on for shifts and the entire crew changes out routinely, why does the captain need a dedicated bedroom and office? With minimal reworking I'd imagine we could have the full functionality of the captain's office directly below the captain's chair, expand the current office and captains bedroom into a larger meeting room for heads of staff+ guests. and if thats still not big enough, then a more radical approach is to change the mirrored nature of the bridge, changing the right side hallway next to the current captains office into part of the meeting room
  9. i like Ollie both ICly and OOCly, though I can see why many people wouldn't
  10. how about only remove Pun Pun's push priority, while making lab monkeys more violent so you have to sedate them before working with them. Monkeys are p. smart tbh, they wouldn't allow themselves to be shoved into a death chamber with slimes
  11. how do you even steal the engine like, does it even fit on the shuttle?
  12. then they manually change their hairstyle in character setup to be bald
  13. then don't include colors in randomization
  14. creating another job position with engineering lobby and telecomms access would give them clearance to disable the lethals though. I was always confused about the layout tbh. It seems designed for a permanent 4 man crew with 4 beds and the vending machine, has two space suits and the hardsuit, but the turrets can only be controlled from way past the sleeping area in the entry room.
  15. I dig it. Also allows for someone to be subverted who isn't a head. I'd say give them telecoms access, but not formal teleporter so someone still needs to let them in to get to the job site
  16. I think a major issue is that we have two distinct groups of people who populate this server. On one hand, we have the serious RPers who want to do their thing and thats it, sometimes its called 'chair rp' and its totally fine. On the other hand, we have the people who support antags and want more action on the game. Both are equally valid opinions, but the fact is they're basically polar opposites. We have players who refuse to log in for nuke rounds, and have players who switch off when extended get selected. I think we run into problems when trying to appease both groups. Not to say I dislike the direction the server has gone in, I've been a part of it since before the Apollo switch and stayed with Aurora because I liked this group better. I do like the changes made to antag requirements, with the reduction in the focus of murder and torture. However, I think we need to make a solid decision as for what kind of server we are going to be moving forward. Are we going to be a primarily extended server with some very light antaging or something closer to bay with a somewhat higher standard of roleplay. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe both groups can coexist and the server can prosper, but I just think its going to lead to people getting upset when they get targeted by antags, and the more action oriented players getting bored when its extended for the 3rd time today. I haven't had time to fully read cassie's post, but will do it now
  17. Personally, I think mods and admins are too quick to respond to grief. That might not be a popular opinion, but it is what it is. I had a shift as an engineer where I walked into a maint room and found a new engineer breaking through glass to try and make a vacuum. Obviously a griefer, but I called it in and disarmed them, then we got in a fight where I tried to push them down and tie them up. During this, they got 'admin down'd' or whatever, which totally blew all the steam out of my guy. It went from Cons heroically saving the station from depressurization to 'oh an admin put him on his back and i tied him up' a few shifts before that, there was some workplace personality clashing in the engineering department, one guy was super upset at me smoking in the break room, I egged him on, things escalated into a fist fight (that was promptly broken up by other engineering staff) but during it we were both admin down'd and I instantly got a message saying 'what happened here?' I explained and that was that, but like, we already had it handled, effectively and ICly. We didn't need to be forcibly dropped to the ground. What I mean to say is let things happen. We put so many restrictions on antags that its becoming not fun to be one anymore. I've disabled traitor and changeling from the list now because there's so much question as to proper use of force and whats ganking and what isn't. All the rules and protections we have puts tons of limits and makes things boring for the majority to appease those who want nothing to ever happen to their characters. so suggestions I have: 1) remove the blanket SSD restriction for antags. If you log off without telling anyone in a dark corridor in maint and get eaten by a changeling you should have absolutely no right to complain about this. 2) save 'admin cleanup' for AFTER things are resolved. Let the players handle grief. If a bald head scientist blows a hole in the middle of the station, let the engineers fix it and let medical save the victims, don't admin heal everyone and reset the damage. 3) I had a third one but forget it now and a list of 2 just looks dumb. Basically, let us play the game, we don't need to be mommied here.
  18. make a new company policy that all employees must be clean shaven on both the head and the face due to the dangerous nature of work done on Aurora Station.
  19. side note do prosthetics deal more damage than fleshy fists?
  20. One thing we can do is really publicize the text books. I don't know how it is in other departments, but in engineering we have a book shelf stuffed with books they have embedded links to the wiki which is really really really helpful when trying to teach the fundamentals of engineering. When Cons gets put teaching an apprentice the first thing I do is tell them to pick up a book and skim it so they have at least a bit of an idea what they'll be doing.
  21. counter, when you have harm intent and hit a floor tile it should have a chance to damage it. Its a swing and a miss with a heavy blunt object, it should probably leave some sign of conflict on the tile
  22. we should probably change the name of the round entirely, if its possible.
  23. i might be slightly biased being pro-antag, but being a vague as possible while still being helpful. This is more an ooc concern, though, to make things fun for everyone involved. if you are scanning and see Person A hacking into a door, there are a number of things that can be said.. For example: Person A has been identified breaking into xx door in yy area An individual has been seen breaking into xx door in yy area Person A has been identified breaking into a door Vandalism in yy area all of those are helpful to the security team and command staff, but once person A has been identified as the culprit, his story is pretty much done. Obviously in security areas that threaten the integrity of the station, namely the singularity, immediate identification of the name would preferable. Also, from an engineering perspective, PLEASE don't help unless we specifically ask for it. Empress is good with this, but I've had an ai shoot me with an emitter because it was 'helping' while I was outside to set containment.
