  1. Seeing that the issue has been resolved between you two I will be locking and archiving this complaint.
  2. Hi there! Myself and Tailson will be handling this complaint. We will be making a response soon.
  3. Ckey/BYOND Username:House_Of_Synth Position Being Applied For: Wiki Maintainer Past Experiences/Knowledge: Before taking my hiatus from basically everything back in march, I was a wiki maintainer for some time. I've also been a part of the moderation staff for nearly two years in total, discounting my hiatus. So I'd say I have a good amount of knowledge. I can also, usually, decipher some things from the code if necessary. Worst case scenario I learn a new job slot. Examples of Past Work: I did most of the mining wiki's redesign, building it from the ground up when mining was changed to the points system. I didn't have much time on my hands due to exam pressure and didn't really pull my weight much last time I was a maintainer. This is something that will not be a problem this time as I intend to manage my time much more efficiently, leaving time for me to put into the server. Additional Comments:
  4. Goret's interview. Posted with permission of applicant. https://pastebin.com/rv1HrbCH
  5. I'll be contacting you on discord for an interview soon-ish. Most likely tomorrow.
  6. Apologies for the delay, I've had a hectic few days IRL and so dealing with this got pushed back a bit. I'm going to start off by saying I'll be denying this appeal. You have been given many chances to follow the rules, and considering you broke this same ruling twice in this round, I don't feel inclined to accept this unban request. You attempted to shut down two traitors by rushing them. The first, you attempted to push through a swarm of viscerators just to get to them, disregarding your own safety and pain until it became obvious that you wouldn't get through without serious injuries or even death. Secondly, you abused the tactical shield to rush an antag who was using fragmentation grenades. Again, throwing your safety out the window and essentially assuming the shield would protect you from all of them. Both of these cases exhibit clear signs of validhunting as well as disregard for the rule regarding your character's sense of self preservation and the rule regarding avoiding pain. You have 4 permanent bans, not including job bans, that have been appealed in the past. You also have another 53 staff entries that you have accumulated in your time here, 12 of which occured this year so far, 25 last year. My point is I see no indication of change. Even after your secban, you've accumulated four more staff entries. Another thing I would like to touch on is this: This is entirely incorrect. There are two ways you could have known it was me, one was where Read contacted you on discord and specifically told you I had banned you. The second way you could have known is by looking at the ban itself which comes up whenever you try and play a role you are job banned in. Us contacting you is also another issue I'd like to bring up. See, I would have PM'd you on discord myself, however we have no mutual servers and are not discord friends. So I could not search your handle and PM you. Read kindly offered to contact you in my stead, to which you responded in a rude, arrogant tone: As I said, you spoke in a rude, arrogant tone in some parts of this conversation. This is a note left by abo at the beginning of this year I did not believe I needed to escalate to a permanent ban as I had already escalated you to a permanent job ban due to the severity of your actions and your past rule breaches. However, because of this discord interaction I could have just permabanned you. My point here is that you're on a very fine line, and if you overstep it you're going to be permabanned from aurora entirely with little chance to succeed in an appeal. So I recommend you be very careful. Overall, due to the severity of the situation, being you shutting down two antags by rushing them, as well as your conduct in the conversation with read coupled with your continuation to breach the rules even after this ban, I am not going to be accepting this appeal. You may contest this through a staff complaint if you wish, but for now this is my final verdict. Appeal Denied
  7. Hi there Xander, I'll likely be making a full respone to this either tonight or tomorrow morning. Here is the full ban reason:
  8. That's entirely correct, yes. As I said, I love it when people put together IC events that make the round open to be more interesting but yes, that was my reasoning behind the warning. You hit the nail on the head here. That would have been a perfect course of action. Telling command that you were creating a safe zone would have given the option to send folk there. It also lets them know you're doing something to aid the situation. Making sure cargo are making sure engineering and security have all the things they need and then perhaps ordering them to head over to the event, as well as other civilians. Things like that would have shown that you were doing something positive during the crisis. People in a crisis are less likely to be enticed to come to a rap event if they don't know it's 'subtext'. Offering a more obvious secondary aim of keeping people safe to it would have made it known that there was a safe place for crew to be during the crisis. Thus showing you were doing something. As for emoting nervousness and such, that also would have helped; showing you are hearing and taking in what's going on around the station at that time. Had these sorts of things been done, I would have gladly declared the situation as valid.
  9. Alright, response time! Firstly, I'd like to apologise for the delay in responding to this complaint. Secondly I'd like to thank you for bringing it to the forums instead of arguing in ahelps. It makes all our lives much easier. So, the reason I gave you this warning is because you seemingly disconnected yourself from the round's events. I've trawled through the logs for the round in question, looking at everything said to you and by you. Overall I found that you were dismissive of the situation. And felt that you played for your own motive the entire round. Being this rap event. Now don't get me wrong, I have no issue at all with you hosting this event. However my issue is, as I said, you disconnected yourself from pretty much everything else. I saw no conversation between you and other command about evacuation, in fact the AI brought it up. I saw no effort from you to actively gather crew during the crisis beyond "Come donate to my rap event!" For example, during your CCIA interview, you were PDAing another crewmember to make the arrangements for the event. Ok so, this is around the point where things started going sour for the station. You never followed up on this by the looks of things in the logs but this could be any security situation right? Dismissing it isn't too much of an issue at this stage. The same could be applied here, it could be an engineering thing, which would be out of your hands. However the next PDA message is a core part as to why I think this warning should not be expunged. You argued that your job as HoP is simply human resources? At what point does someone in HR dismiss the fact that people are being killed, following up by "We can delay the rap event for 20 minutes". You never even followed up on the fact that people were dying. The crew were dying but all you did was push for this rap event? I don't know about you, but I think that falls out of line in terms of the duties of a command staff. In no world is it realistic to ignore the fact that multiple people are being killed because you have a rap show planned. You told me that you advertised this rap event as a safe place for crew to be during all the ongoing station commotion. But looking at the logs you said no such thing. It got to the point where even the crew started speaking out. Here is one example: Ok, sure, a HoP may not have knowledge of AIs and how they work. But you did literally nothing in response to this other than say "Sorry, Dunno how AIs work" To me that doesn't exactly seem like the kind of response a command staff should be making. I never asked you to go be at the forefront of security, I never asked for you to fix the AI with engineering. My point is you did absolutely nothing in terms of helping save the crew other than advertise a poetry slam where there would be pizza and drinks. You did, however, ask the CE whether they wanted to be acting captain, as was said here: Yet you never follow up on it in any way at all. You drop the issue here and go back to dropping beats behind the bar. I feel like you deflected some of my points in the ahelp by using the rap event. The event wasn't really made with the thought of being an isolated, safe place was it? You never advertised it as such, shown by the logs of the round. You seemingly used this event, in some ways, as an excuse to duck and dodge my points. Masquerading your negligence to do something as you are expected, as one of the commanders onboard the station. You never mentioned calling a shuttle, you never coordinated an alert level swipe. You didn't deliberately put crew in this area, it was mostly coincidence. I think the only thing you did in response to this situation was evacuate those at the event. Which I have absolutely no issue with. So, to recap, the reason I gave you this warning is because you basically disconnected yourself from the round. You are a command staff, you are expected to direct the station. You never ordered any of the civilians to safety. They were left to die while you hosted a rap event. You ignored blatant signs that something was going on just so you could go forth with your pre-planned mini event. As I said I had no issue with the event. I enjoy seeing the community make these kinds of things in rounds. My issue is that you used it as an excuse to ignore everything going on around you. Even the crew were speaking out against you; asking, even pleading for your help. And all you did in response was offer pizza and drinks while you rapped about chores. So yes, overall I think this was poor play as a command staff. Sure you were in a CCIA meeting, but the situation was ongoing for the rest of the round also. You had plenty of opportunity to act, but did not do so. Therefore I do not intent on expunging this warning. Lastly, I just want to say there are no hard feelings on my side over this.
  10. I will be writing a full response to this complaint tomorrow.
  11. I always knew a Greggs delivery service would be shite.
  12. Alright this is fair enough. However the amount of prisoners still outnumbered the amount of officers, leading to the fact that they couldn't keep an eye on you all simultaneously. Now my ruling on the issue being IC was not intended to be applied here. It was applied to the fact you were left in your cell blind but not intentionally. The officer in question who took of your mask was spoken to about it by myself over ahelps as them taking the mask off of you was in fact an OOC issue. They didn't realise vaurcae need phoron to breathe as I believe they were relatively new. I also recommended that they get you medical help due to this. Similarly to this, the circumstances to you being blind were also an OOC issue. As you know I spoke to the officer who flashed you multiple times and dealt with them appropriately. Again, the IC issue was that you were left blind in the cell, but otherwise unharmed. As stated in my previous reply attempts were made to cure you by the CMO and such. Note that, as I said in my previous reply, the officer came to take you to medical just before the server crashed. As said I did not tell them to do that. That was done under their own accord. I assume by 'killed' you were referring to the officer who took your mask off. As stated I spoke to them and recommended they take you to medical to rectify the damage. That was an OOC issue and was dealt with as such. The circumstances of your blindness and the removal of your masks were OOC issues. Both the officers respectively were spoken to through ahelps and dealt with. The only part of this I declared an IC issue to you was the fact that you were left in the cell blind but otherwise healthy. Due to the reasons I went over in my previous reply. Perhaps I could have been clearer as to which aspect of the string of events was IC and which parts were OOC at the time. And so I do apologise if I was unclear. But yes, The cause of your blindness and removal of the mask was OOC and dealt with accordingly at the time. Leaving you in the cell blind but otherwise fine was not in violation of rules as efforts were being made.
  13. Alrighty then. First of all I want to say I appreciate you bringing this to the forums instead of arguing it ingame. Makes all our lives easier. Now onto the subject at hand. I still believe this case to be an IC issue. As Abo said there were only really two security staff to deal with multiple prisoners. However despite this, after talking to the CMO's player on the discord, I was told that medical were called to security to administer medical assistance to the prisoners, including yourself. Checking the logs I found this to be correct as the CMO was PDA messaged about fixing up the prisoners. They were also called to security. The CMO also treated you with Imidazoline in the hopes it would heal any eye damage you had, not realising it was ryetalyn that you needed. Taking this into account I would say it hardly counts to torture. The security team had their hands full but still contacted medical, leading to treatment being given to you. They didn't refuse you treatment at all. Also, it's not as if you were left to die in the cell either. You were simply blind and, yes while you were in pain, I believe one of the officers came to take you to medical once again just before the server crashed. There was no imminent danger to your health. Note that I had not instructed any of security to take you to medical through PMs at this point. That was the officer's own action. So in short, I don't believe their RP to be unsatisfactory as they were taking the measures they could to ensure you were treated and healed. Sure it's no fun being left blind. But you were not deliberately left blind. Efforts were made and thus no rules were broken. The delay in their efforts were due to the fact that there were still traitors running around so they had their own issues. Therefore I deemed it an IC issue. I hope the reasoning behind my decision helps clear things up. Feel free to throw me a reply if you have anymore issues or questions about my decision.
  14. I'll likely be leaving a response to this tomorrow (the 20th) evening/night.
  15. The Empire did nothing wrong I'm glad you brought this up since it's an important question. Now the reason I retired wasn't completely due to the exams themselves. It was more to do with my time management leading up to the exams. See GCSEs take place at the end of year 11. And most subjects take two years to go through the entire course. Especially maths. Now my issue was that I didn't really push myself at all in year 10. So it left gaps in my knowledge. Big gaps. So come january of year 11 and it's time for my mock exams. At this point I've done little study and am slowly digging a hole for myself. I end up procrastinating if I'm not careful, which is most of the time. So I get the mock results back and they were alright. Apart from maths, which one, I needed for my next subjects in A-levels and two, I failed. At this point it's the beginning of march and I only have a few months to buckle down and get these grades up before I screw myself over entirely. Since I was squeezing all this studying in last minute pretty much, I had little time for anything else. More specifically I wanted to minimise my distractions, hence my decision to retire on the fourth of march roughly. My plan this year is basically to not fall behind. If I stay on top of my work start to finish, going over it regularly and basically putting my all into it, I won't need to cram loads of stuff in in the final months, which will allow me to relax a little and I'll have time to be around since I won't be panicking as I'll have already learnt it. Tl;Dr Time management was terrible as I had thought nothing out and hadn't really tried. Am going to make sure I do not fall behind next academic year so that the same thing does not happen. Because oh my god it was hell Hope this answers your question ok!
  16. Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: House_Of_Synth Character Name(s): Ikrad Yam'hir, Teletraan, Arrko'vi Az'dirra to name a few. AI Name(s): Teletraan Discord username + tag: House_Of_Synth#7383 Age: 16 Timezone: GMT When are you on Aurora?: For the next 2 and a half months I can be around whenever. But during schooltime usually afterschool and on weekends. Experience How long have you played SS13?: Just over two years. How long have you played on Aurora: Same as above, just over two years. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: Quite a bit, I have knowledge in most departments. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: I was a moderator for just over a year and an admin for around 3-4 months after that on Aurora. Took leave due to exams. Have you read through the criteria thread; https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4198 - and believe that you mark off all the criteria?: I do indeed. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Nope Personality Why do you play SS13?: I play for fun, I enjoy the game and it's community. Why do you play on Aurora?: It's the setting that best suits me, the rules are fair and just for HRP and the community is great. Development is active and the staff team are nice to be around. What do moderators do?: They ensure that a set standard of RP is maintained on the server as much as possible. They make sure that the players are following the rules. They keep the peace and ensure a fun environment for those who are playing. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: Being a moderator on aurora takes maturity. A moderator is an example that the player base shouldn't be afraid to follow. Therefore, to be a moderator on aurora means that you understand and follow the rules to a good enough degree so that you can spot and deal with those who do not follow them. Why do you want to be a moderator?: To aid the community and keep it running. Also because I retired due to my exams, which are now over and done with. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I've had a good amount of experience. I'd like to say I'm level headed and fair. I'd also like to think I'm quite mature. But I'll let others be the judge of that. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: Fine, I know my limits. If someone gets on my nerves I know not to retaliate for that just makes things worse. If a situation got out of hand I would know to step back and ask for help. Anything Else You Want to Add: I never shot abo in the back with a sniper. It's all lies and slandar
  17. Having negative effects simply for transporting is maybe a little too harsh? I Don't didn't really see many people use Telescience alot. Even though it has immense capability, especially for departments like medical and security where getting across the station quickly can be imperative. Perhaps a system could be implemented to allow more information to be required. I have no idea how hard that'd be to accomplish really but I feel that some of these would be much better served as punishment. If you mess up an input, you mess up the process. But that's just muh two cents
  18. You are not banned from making a head whitelist at all. We are more than willing to give you a chance to apply again. The ruling on not applying Edgar is purely due to the fact that it will probably end up a carbon copy if not a very similar varient of your previous applications. this does not mean you cannot play Edgar as a research director if the whitelist is accepted. By what abo has said we have no issue with you applying. We simply do not want to see something we have already seen numerous times before. I understand that it has been a year but whitelist applications are there to show that you are worthy of the title and that the amount of effort you put in reflects on you as a player. Copy and pasting an old application doesn't really scream effort does it? Do not take this the wrong way, we're not saying no more head whitelist for you. We are saying that a year has passed and it's OK to apply. We just want to see something new so we can gather a fair judgement.
  19. I support this, giving command a "Fix everything" button really removes the potential antags can carry. It usually takes time for an antag to get through a gimmick and sometimes ERT forces them to accelerate into murdering people and such, a similar effect to antags accelerating their plans when CT is called. Also, there are not many antag types that can take on a full squad of ERT since the majority get outnumbered easily if you count sec giving a hand. Giving an antag a bit more room to move may increase their potential for a better story due to them not having to worry about said ERT. So yeah, overall +1 from me.
  20. In that case, I have no issue with accepting this appeal. Be sure to read the rules HERE before you start playing. They can also be read on-server by hitting the 'rules' button up in the top right. Appeal Accepted
  21. Hello there! I will be taking over this unban appeal due to the fact that Aimless has long since departed the staff team. Before coming to a final decision I do have one thing to bring up. The screenshot below shows your ban (IP and CID have been scrubbed out for privacy reasons), more specifically it's mirrors (meaning the bans placed in the event of ban evading). Are you able to explain these? Especially the most recent mirror, being the one applied on the 1st of February. My main reasoning for bringing this up is due to your ban mentioning trolling, griefing and multikeying; so this is just me making sure you're not going to end up doing the aforementioned again. However if this point is cleared in your reply I will be happy to accept this appeal. Until then! I look forward to your reply.
  22. This appeal has been denied due to inactivity. You are free to attempt an appeal again at any time.
  23. This appeal will be denied due to inactivity if a reply has not been made by Tuesday the 16th of January. I urge you to make a reply before this time to save having to make another appeal should this one be denied.
