  1. Good day! I must apologise for taking a little longer than expected to get around to this. I've been struck down with a bunch of exams. So let us begin shall we? Firstly, upon searching your ban I found that it had been mirrored 10 times, all with different dates (see below). This basically shows that you've attempted to circumvent this ban in the past. Which begs the question: Should you ever be banned again, would you attempt to dodge it? In addition to this your notes are quite extensive What I'm seeing here is a complete disregard for the rules. According to this screenshot you have 5 bans. Which begs the question, have you really learnt your lesson? The rules have been reworked over the years but the core rules are still the same. I am not opposed to giving you a second chance due to the amount of time that has passed, but before I come to a concrete conclusion I'd like you to read the current rules of the server, and tell me which rules you broke in the screenshot above, and how you broke them, I'm not expecting 100% accuracy at all here, just confirmation that you have read and understand our server rules. The current rules can be found here
  2. Hi there! Due to the banning member of staff's retirement from the staff team I shall be taking over this ban appeal and will be formulating a response tomorrow.
  3. I agree here that the spread makes it horribly useless to mine with. The spread is just too much. However it should not be reverted to it's former aimbot instantcrit self. I think perhaps nerfing down the damage quite a bit and maybe putting the pressure nerf on it aswell may work as a balance. Or even do as Dronz suggested. but I think it would cause some burn damage if fired upon somebody. I'm not sure if the thermal lance is breeder only, but perhaps that should replace the drill as that kind of weapon. Leaving the drill to act more like a drill and less like an overpowered gatling-laser
  4. Hello, hello! First off thank you for the feedback, it's highly appreciated. I've given the location of the clan some thought. I've decided I'm going to go with the following. I'd like to think the clan is situated on lands rather close to the Izweski Hegemony's own territory, but at a distance from the main battlefield. Not too far so that the battle is irrelevant and poses no threat, but not too close so that the clan is engulfed by the battlefields. If that makes sense. Regarding the atomic exchange, I have made the alteration to make this quite a threat to the clan. The lands are close to the wasteland, close enough that within the next decade or two the clan will be engulfed by the radiation fields. This would further strengthen the reason for sending out members to work and send remittance to the clan. And now the character themself! I've decided on Isazki being 33 years of age at present. Which would have made him 23 during the final year of the contact war. Decided department would be security unless some drastic change alters this. Security made the most sense for an Unathi raised as a warrior, as well as raised with honour due to the fact that a cornerstone in security work is protecting the innocent, which may be considered dishonourable not to do. I hope this clears up your questions, if you have more do feel free to make them clear in another reply.
  5. BYOND Key: House_Of_Synth Character Names: To name a few: Ikrad Yam'hir, Teletraan, Durak'ven Dez'taka, Aktari Nek'lev, Embers On The Horizon and some others I don't really play too often. Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Most likely a beige "sand colored" Unathi, I don't see many of them around so why not. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I have indeed and will likely be flicking back and from it whenever I need to. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Well firstly, it's one more whitelist toward getting them all, but that's more of a subsidiary reason. I'd like another angle to play at, the idea of playing a pro-honour unathi really sparks my interest, I don't see that many Unathi show their honour as prominently as I may intend to when/if this whitelist application succeeds. It also opens up a new window of interaction, a good understanding of the lore can really make for some great conversation and even conflict with other Unathi. Both of which I look forward to. Honour seems like it could play a larger role in conversation and certainly interaction, especially if there's a Guwan about. Although I sound a little driven on honour, there's also the flipside of that. I'll likely not be making a Guwan anytime soon due to the sheer number of them, although that could be due to them fleeing from the pure the shame that being on Moghes would bring them, but even-so, I find the flipside of that honourable part of the race just as interesting. The social outcast theme also opens up new doors to walk through, and new ways to act. A Guwan would feel shame no matter where they are, perhaps giving them a positive personality, or a negative one. The lore is so diverse it gives many options for characters and the stories to go along with them. And so I think that is why I'd like to play the race. It's so rich in lore and opportunities. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Well, I kinda touched on this above, so forgive me if I find myself repeating myself here. Unathi are very much honour driven. One could say it's a foothold on the Unathi society itself. So that is a major difference from a human. To humans honour is more of a concept, whereas with a typical Unathi, honour is everything. There's also the difference in mechanics, although they are not entirely important. BUT, the emotional and physical reactions unathi give to different situations. For example, an anxious Unathi will likely sway, personally I like to think of this as a defense mechanism. They sway, ready to move swiftly if they need to. On a more emotional level, they give clear signs to indicate said emotion. Heightened emotion such as anger as well as irritation are conveyed via the thumping of the tail against the ground. Blowing air through there nostrils sharply also shows this. So yes, Unathi are very different from Humans in many ways, from their biology, the way they show emotions and their mannerisms. Character Name: Izaski Uthwea Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Izaski Uthwea was born into a quite a large family, that were considered as a clan loyal to the Izweski Hegemony and their political movements. The clan was not exactly a well known one, there were many clans higher and more powerful than the Uthwea clan. Izaski was at the lower end of the Hierarchy of the clan, raised as a warrior. Izaski was taught the ways of honour and it's importance to Unathi. Izaski understood and felt as if honour was a foothold for success in the Unathi society. He accepted that he'd rather die in battle than allowing those with dishonour to taint the lands he stood upon.. As the Traditionalist Coalition had been waging war against the Izweski Hegemony, the Uthwea clan had slowly been preparing. The clan was situated on lands rather close to the Izweski Hegemony's own territory, but at a distance from where the main battlefields were to be located when the war came around. Fortunately the clan was not too close to the battlefields to risk being overtaken by them, however a threat was still present should the coalition break into the lands.. They joined the war rather late, toward the end of the war, what could be considered the final 4 months to be precise, a likely reason would be due to the distance that would have needed to have been covered to reach the war-zone. Perhaps with the time it took to receive and/or create the weapons and armourments for the members to wear and fight with.. The clan sent many warriors as well as some other members skilled in other useful professions to aid the Hegemony in their efforts to eradicate the Coalition, Izaski being one of them. The war was a total disaster for the Uthwea clan. Most of the warriors sent were slain by the coalition. Izaski had been posted, not on the front line, but nearby to it. He had been close enough to fight those who opposed the Hegemony. The retreat call came from his clan when they had learned of the loss they had suffered. They called the remaining members of the clan they could reach back to their lands. The leaders of the clan had weighed the benefits and risks of staying in the war. The clan was more open to external threat from other clans without the reinforcements the surviving members could bring. And so they decided it was a better option to retreat, not doing-so would risk the collapse of the clan. It was decided by the leaders of the clan that some members of the clan, one or two warriors and some other members who worked in other professions were to be applied for work with NanoTrasen, and that a portion of the money earned by these members was to be sent back to the clan, in order to be put toward the costs needed to make up for the loss of members. The clan was also at a huge risk due to the radiation fields expansions. It was calculated to expand over the lands owned by the Uthwea within the next 10 or so years.. Izaski was one of the people sent to work and pay remittance from his salary. He has been working for NT for many years. Although he dislikes the idea of being separated from his home soil, and his clan as a whole, he respects the choice of his superiors. It would be dishonourable not to respect their choice. Izaski found that he fit well into security positions, mostly due to the fact that a cornerstone of security work is keeping the innocent protected and upholding regulations to keep a community safe.. So he works, and he works hard to do his clan proud, and to aid in preventing their destruction set in motion by the Coalition's atomic weapons.. What do you like about this character? I don't see many pro-honour unathi around so I thought I'd take a stab at it. This is one of the aspects I think will make this a great character to play, especially if done well. I also like that he feels a little out of place, having to work for a company so far from his true home, but the decision is respected by Izaski and to go against it would be shameful to say the least. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I generally don't like to rate my own ability, for bias and all that. So I'll leave that up to those who are generous enough to post feedback on this application. Buuut if I had to give a figure, I'd say probably a 7 or 8 out of 10. I'm not perfect and am not 100% efficient at playing a character exactly as they're supposed to act toward more subtle things, but I do okay I think. Notes: I hope I got everything right here, I'm not the best with backstories. Constructive criticism appreciated!
  6. Alright my dude, I'm going to break it here, I'm going to be denying this appeal. I get that it's been a long time but this is your 7th ban on the server, more specifically the 3rd permaban you've appealed for. You've been banned time and time again and yet fail to change and so I'm afraid my verdict here is more of a 'go and move on'. The staff team have given you so many chances to change over the time that you have been here and so I am left with very few options. If you wish to contest what I've said here, you may create a staff complaint but I believe I am not the first to say this. You talked with Garn about appealing a while back and he stated that it would likely come down to this. I have also consulted the other staff in this and they are in agreement. Appeal denied.
  7. Hello there! I'll be the one conducting your moderator interview. I'll be sending you a PM over discord soon-ish regarding this.
  8. In that case I see no reason to deny this appeal. Appeal accepted.
  9. Hey there, I'll be the one handling this unban appeal due to the fact that the banning staffmember was Serveris6 who has long since departed the staff team. Firstly I notice that this ban has been mirrored three times, which basically means it's been re-applied due to you joining under new conditions. For example a different Byond account or by using a proxy/VPN. Multikeying and/or using a proxy is against the rules. I hope that these will not be used to circumvent staff actions if you are unbanned? Speaking of the rules, since your ban, the rules have undergone a rework, which can be read here: https://aurorastation.org/rules.html I look forward to your reply; and will likely be passing judgment after that.
  10. Hey there! I'll be the one hopefully conducting your interview. I'll contact you on discord shortly.
  11. Hello, hello! Thought I'd drop in here with an opinion or two. Firstly regarding what Abo/Sharp said: You have had various run-ins with staff. But honestly I think Berry's right. You have improved on your attitude and from what I've seen, you're getting better at not venting on others when something goes wrong. I can't say I play as my Vaurca that much, partly because of the ever shifting lore at the moment.. but I feel like your idea on merging Fowl and Chev's lore will create an interesting platform for vaurca players to settle on. That and I quite liked some of the expansions Chev proposed/put into the lore. Putting the best of the two together seems like a strong starting point. I reckon you'd do well in this position. Your activity seems good and so you can keep in touch with IC ongoings when you do play, meaning you can really interact well with other Vaurca players that may adopt the lore you propose if you get accepted. I think the only thing that could hold you back here is the salt you sometimes come up with when things happen ingame. Honestly if you keep going down the route of solving that I think all shall be well. Best of luck!
  12. The wikis respective to these changes have been altered. If you notice any mistakes or inconsistencies then please do not hesitate to contact me and make me aware of this. Note that Code Yellow isn't included on the wikis yet; I'll be adding it when it is merged and is actually apart of the server.
  13. The interview with AWP:
  14. Hello, hello! I'll be the one conducting your interview so I'll be contacting you over discord within the next few days when I have a gap in my schoolwork. Until then!
  15. Ckey/BYOND Username: House_Of_Synth Position Being Applied For (coder, mapper, spriter): Wiki Maintainer Past Experiences/Knowledge: Being staff I've answered multiple questions on mechanics so I guess that counts as having the ability to explain things through text. I've also been playing pretty solidly for a good year and a couple months and am familiar with the workings of most departments. In addition I'm slowly (But surely) learning to code in DM, but at my current level I am able to pick out and get a general idea of how mechanics work, and can test them on a locally hosted server to further my understanding if need be. Examples of Past Work: I don't really have any "hard copies" of my past work, I guess the only applicable case would be my year of moderating on the server. Preferred Mode of Communication (Skype, Steam, etc.): Discord works fine, so that'd be my primary form of communication. If not then steam works too. Additional Comments: I'm actually not sure if Hurtz is still hiring for wiki maintainers but I thought it was worth a shot. Also regarding my activity, this is the 'big' year in my school (I sit exams at the end of this year that are actually important) I'll still have time for writing up things on the wiki. My school doesn't block the wiki either so I can even do some in my lunch break, my current revision schedule also leaves me with around 3 hours a night to do whatever I want, more-so on the weekends.
  16. To be honest, we have sooo many ways of gaining meta-knowledge due to staff powers. From dsay to a verb that literally tells you who the antagonists are. I usually just tune that shit out. BUT A button in the prefs for toggling rune-logs would be nice for those who prefer avoiding the mere chance.
  17. Hello, hello! First off I want to apologize for the long delay, the holiday accomodation had no WiFi and it completely sailed my mind when I got back. Abo did infact have a talk with me over discord and I agree, pretty much for the same reasons as stated above by Abo and Schev and am going to be removing the warning. My main reasoning for giving you the warning was one, due to my own interpretation of the rules which I clearly see was incorrect (Perhaps I was thinking of the old rule? I dunno but I slipped up none-the-less) and second was due to a previous note regarding ganking within a fortnight roughly in comparison with this particular case. I also agree that the victim also could've done a bit more to help themselves regarding RPing the situation, as you said, the shrugging does come off as "meh, I'm going to die, whatevs" so I understand why Judge simply moved on after that. It may be a little difficult to emote struggling considering you're against the clock but all in all anything is better to carry on from than a shrug. So yeah, in conclusion I'm going to be removing the warning. Again, apologies for the long delay, I hope there are no hard feelings from this. o7
  18. Just as a note, I've seen this and will be responding properly within the next few days. I've been packing and am travelling for a holiday tomorrow. Apologies for the delay!
  19. BYOND Key: House_Of_Synth Character Names: Ikrad Yam'hir, Arrko'vi Az'dirra, Teletraan, Zephyr, Sixty-Six.. These are the ones I've played more of as a whole Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): RGB 51, 0, 0 (Looks deep red to me) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yup! I've referred to it when making this app and will likely read it over a few times more in the future. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Well let's see here. For one I gotta catch 'em all regarding whitelist apps. But the main reason? I've said this with other races before but I'll say it again; Vaurca really are quite interesting as a concept. I'll start with their speech. I love roleplaying species way of speaking, it makes, in my opinion, the RP that much more interesting unless you use autohiss (Bleh) of course. Vaurca are no different from this. Sliiightly off topic here but I once took over for a vaurca wizard and by a longshot the best part about it was typing out the speech; from adding -ck onto the end of words to simulate the clacking of mandibles as the vaurca struggles out it's words to putting heavy emphasis on letters and sounds such as 'S' (Zz) and 'Ph' (Vv). Another thing that grips me is the discrimination. Although it doesn't happen as much as it should with any race I see it with vaurca the most and personally I love it when people go all speciest on you. It makes for good RP! Not only that but the fact that vaurca have a very unique lifestyle. They spend their years where they develop their cognative abilities in, what is essentially a world of fantasy. A place where their physical being does not limit what they can do, a vibrant world. Compare this to the outside world and well.. The result is far from overwhelming in comparison. That for me seems like a really interesting thing to bring to the table in terms of roleplay. It must be an odd transition, being ripped from paradise and thrown headfirst into some dull realm and I plan to hopefully express that in some of my characters that may come from this. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Other than the speech as explained above as well as the discrimination? Hmm.. Of course there are the mechanics, the constant panic of "OH LAWD I FORGOT THE KOIS!" "UHH NUUH MUH PHORON RESERVES" there are also the more subtle features of the race that I don't really see many people actually RP (note that there are those that probably do I just don't see them). Such as discomfort in light.. So light leading to migraines and such. Now of course there are the usual changes between species such as damage resistance/amplification and stamina. Stamina of course is different but it's not really a major thing anymore unless you enjoy tearing down the corridors so fast you can hear eurobeat just from your footsteps. Damage resistance and/or amplification? That can definitely play a part in gameplay though. The main difference with vaurca is how they cannot self heal surface wounds. If they get cut they bleed until it gets treated meaning you have to be a bit more cautious. EMP vunerability is also there to watch out for not to mention the idea of permadeath with no cloning available. Gotta get that self preservation! Unless you're playing as a Bound that is. Character Name:Ka'Axiax'Zexen Zo'ra (I think that's right?) Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Paradise. That was the only word to describe it. To those on the outside it was known as the virtual.. But for those inside it? It was home. It was life.. Zexen accepted this fact, infact he never wanted to leave. The same could be said for most Vaurca in the virtual. The exceptions being the Journeyer's, Vagabonds and those who volunteer for The Black Numbers. But Zexen was none of these exceptions. The virtual was his world, his very life force and he wished not to disrupt this fact. But alas, all good things come to an end. Somewhere his number had been drawn in the Black Numbers and he was ripped from his reality.. It felt as if someone had flushed him down a pipe. Everything went black, no sound could be heard. When Zexen opened his eyes he was underwhelmed. His surroundings were washed out in colour, he could barely feel anything he touched and it was cold.. Much colder than that of the reality he came from not just in temperature, but the imposing look of his surroundings. He wanted to go back, of course he was allowed to go every once and a while but that wasn't enough. He felt he belonged there and he wanted to go back.. Permanently.. Zexen was stationed on a NanoTrasen station as a cargo technician, he hated pretty much every moment of it, as did he hate the company that forced him out of his world and into the material. From paradise to this white-washed, what he believed to be, mimickery of life. But he kept all this under wraps and closed doors. After all, he couldn't return to the world he loved so greatly if he were put behind a prison cell.. He just had to deal with it and keep working. Struggling through this limited reality. What do you like about this character? Zexen is very pro-virtual. He'd give up anything to be there again permanently. His hatred toward NT could also make for some interesting scenarios. He sees the world he's in right now as dull, boring and meaningless and I think that'll lead to some interesting conflicts and decisions. It also opens up a whole round of possible traitor gimmicks. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I wouldn't really want to judge my own ability due to the inevitable bias but I would say a solid what? 7/10? That seems like a good number, I'll let you be the judge.. Notes: Wrote most of this at like, midnight so please don't murder me. Constructive criticism is very much appreciated!
  20. Interview concluded: it may be read here as Pikl has given me permission to place it on this app https://pastebin.com/rEgtZ22t
  21. Interview concluded. Berry decided he'd rather keep the transcript behind closed doors therefore it will not be posted here.
  22. Staff have decided to give you an interview which will be conducted by myself (House_Of_Synth).. I'll be PMing you on discord shortly to make arrangements.
