  1. Why don't we just meet in the middle here? Vending a bottle and syringing it is a bit clunky and requires extra time. Instead why not just add a timer JUST for soporific in the hypospray. It makes no sense to take longer to inject the hypospray for chemicals like inapravoline because well.. you can't really abuse that. As prate said the borgs are supposed to be efficient so it only makes sense they have everything they need on their modules, having a 3 second injection delay on just the soporific both keeps the efficiency and reduces the ability to shut antags down via spamfiring the current soporofic hypospray.
  2. Okay so, before this gets anymore heated than it needs to be I'm going to put the verdict out there. It was decided by staff and myself that this appeal will be denied for the reasons stated in my previous comment on this thread as well as what the other staff have stated. It has also been decided that you may not appeal for 6 months. The main reason for this is your attitude, mainly on the server but here as well. After the 6 months is up you may appeal again and chances are you'll have more of a chance at the appeal being accepted and the ban lifted.
  3. Well well! I quite like your take on this. Looking at your answer for the first question (Why do you wish to play this specific race?) I can clearly see that you really do want to 'add to the pile' if/when you get this whitelist and that's a great thing. I like how you go onto the theoretical side of "I wonder what a sentient AI would do if X happened'. Extending on that your interest to explore different types of IPC as well as IPCs that may even have different beliefs is quite interesting as well and I look forward to seeing those sorts of characters emerging if this app gets accepted. Combining that and the question after I think you've got a pretty good grip on what IPCs are and should be as well as what they can be. Looking good so far! Now onto the backstory: It's not amazingly abstract and extravagant (Not that it should be, simple and effective works just as well).. BUT.. It works and I see no really problematic holes. I assume you'll build onto that backstory as you go if you do eventually get to play them as a character? But yeah, the backstory seems pretty solid all in all. Now I wouldn't really be able to give any judgement on your RP as I've not really seen you around (Probably due to what you've already stated with your activity as well as timezones and other things) but looking at your app and how you perceive your own roleplaying skills I think I would be correct in saying that you seem to be a decent player who's looking to forward their RP even further. Well I think that pretty much covers everything I've got to say.. It's a +1 from me, good luck!
  4. Hello! Apologies for not getting on this appeal sooner, I had a few issues IRL that had to come first. Let's begin then shall we? Now as others have already said this isn't the first time you've been here. This is your THIRD appeal man, that doesn't look to good does it? We've given you chance after chance. Infact, more chances than most. We'll start from the beginning, with your first permaban: Okay so that was accepted, on the condition that your secban would be made permanent which you agreed to and all was said and done. So allow me to jump forward to your second permaban: Now this is sorta the main reason I'm on the more 'No' side of things here. This ban was applied and then you appealed it right? But then here's the thing.. 7 days later you're doing pretty much the exact same thing, for reference here is the ban: So what does that look like to us administration staff? It looks exactly like someone who has not learned their lesson. During our conversation over Ahelps about this particular incident I contacted a few of the people you said were the reason you were carrying the item(s) and most if not all of them stated that their characters didn't hold too much against yours, hence why it was still deemed invalid like the last time. The point is this is the third time you're here. As said by others how can we guarantee you won't just go back and do it again? You received punishment after punishment, starting with your temp secban, then that being made into a permanent secban due to your actions, your vaurcae whitelist being removed as well as two perma-bans (not including the third/this appeal) as well as quite a lot of notes and warnings under your belt. Does this add up to someone who's learnt their lesson? Why didn't all this make you think that you needed to change the way you are on the server? The fact is it doesn't look like you are going to change, at least not from the look of your previous notes, warnings and bans. I'm leaning on a 'No' for this appeal at the moment, feel free to reply to this as it may help. I'll also be asking other staff for input to decide the final outcome of this appeal.
  5. Moderator interview, posted with Sleepy's permission: http://pastebin.com/dc4HtUKh
  6. BYOND Key: House_Of_Synth Character name: Ikrad Yam'hir Item name: LR-31MTA Beret Why is your character carrying said item to work? Well this beret is one of the only things Ikrad has the links him back to his past. This beret was apart of his old work uniform, when he worked as an assistant (apprentice) for the maintenance team on an artillery cannon. Item function(s): Other than a clothing item I would like it to have a "flap" inside, secured shut by a piece of thick elastic that loops around a button (the clothing kind). Inside would be a folded letter (see the item below). Item description: A silver beret with an insignia on the front, it looks like an old Tajaran cannon with a ring around it. Along the top half of the ring "LR-31MTA" is engraved. The word "Yam'hir" is engraved along the bottom half of the ring. The beret looks old and is worn in some places around the edges. It appears to have a flap inside, secured by a piece of elastic that loops around a button. Item appearance: The description sums this section up, although here is an image of the item sprite. (All the sprites including the worn and item states are in a folder that can be downloaded with the link at the bottom of the application) How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? It's a conversation starter for one, I plan on making this a very important item to Ikrad, offering different scenarios of RP. Additional comments: None here. Item name: Tattered Letter Why is your character carrying said item to work? The other piece of Ikrad's past. This one in the form of a tattered letter. This was actually the last letter Ikrad ever sent to his mother before she passed. He sees them as his last words and often carries them with him for sentimentality. This is why he keeps the letter folded inside the flap in his beret. Item function(s): Just a simple piece of paper, essentially a static sprite. Hopefully I'll be able to have this paper placed inside the beret but only this letter will go in and nothing else. (I would assume the code could be adapted from something else, magazines being inserted into their respective weapon for example) Item description: A tattered looking piece of paper that looks to have been folded multiple times. Although written in Siik'Maas it seems to be laid out like a letter, addressed to an 'Ikta Yam'hir' and written in quite an untidy scrawl.. The letter is torn in some places and the is writing faded. Item appearance: An image of the sprite I made for it. (again all sprites are in the folder) How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? Ikrad reflects on this letter alot, since the words it contains are essentially his last to his mother (Whom he obviously cared deeply for). It also represents his mistake of leaving his mother to join the maintenance team. A choice he made which he still regrets. Link to the sprites: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3m5Y5am86adNWx4RlVfWFIyb0k Additional comments:First time making a Custom Item, please have mercy on me ;-; -Constructive criticism is appreciated!
  7. Well well well, a nice app. Although I have one thing here. Could you elaborate on that a little? How come they're one of your favourite synths? What gives them that potential? The backstory seems good, I do have one question though; Are they an IPC that learns quickly? Writing information into a store- essentially a hard drive? I think adding that fact into the backstory might help you, as it fills the slight hole there and help with the judgement, but that's just me. Other than that I would say it's a good app, although I'll remain neutral here until those changes are worked in- Good luck! EDIT: Okay so, you added the changes I recommended and they look good to me, here's your +1! Remember to advertise once a round to get those replies in. Most of the time it's the lack of feedback that lets the app down. Again- Good luck!
  8. If I recall correctly you cannot have custom items that give you benifits in any way, I'm about 80% sure of this.
  9. Whiterabit is definitely a good, if not great RPer, I've had interactions with quite a few of their characters and can easily say they're well played and solid characters. The backstory is great, goes with the lore nicely and isn't too "out there" with regards to being believable; it's a simple yet effective backstory that's easy to understand and follow along, giving insight to the kind of personality this IPC will have. The answers to the questions are well done as well, being detailed and the length required. Overall I say a well made app; +1
  10. Good question, I'm not entirely sure when the "switch" would happen, right now I'm torn by situations that require alot of "processing" and situations that are classed as stressful.. Eitherway it would probably still kill carp, emotional side being it could cause harm to the crew the IPC might count as basic friends and "dampening" side it would probably see them as a hinderance to work. Of course being a model shipped to NT stations it would follow regulations as standard, and from my knowledge killing carp is perfectly fine in the lawful eyes of NanoTrasen. Either personality wont make it just stop working, it's just that one is alot more Pro-work without unnecessary interaction than the other.
  11. BYOND Key: House_Of_Synth Character Names:(to name a few) Ikrad Yam'hir, Arrko'vi Az'dirra, Rivers Flowing Through Sky and Remus Avardy. Species you are applying to play: IPC. What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Other than to further my progress in gaining all whitelists? Well for a start an IPC has a different "style" of RP in comparison to some other races, They feel no pain and in some cases no emotion. It's this that can make an IPC so sophisticated or so simplistic; they have variety and a lot of room for imagination when it comes to creating them. You can have an IPC that's cold, ruthless and does not care for anything or anyone except what it's programming dictates or and IPC full of simulated emotion and personality. OOCly (Like most races) I find IPCs quite interesting, considering their relatively young age as a "Species" and that they can be subject to quite a bit of racism which is always fun to deal with in terms of RP. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Like I said when making some points above, an IPC personality can be quite imaginative, or quite dull. Either way this seperates them from most other races.. They also have different mechanics for certain things such as EVA (Requiring a suit cooler) and being hugely prone to EMP damage. Meaning you have to be extra careful in some situations whereas you wouldn't as a human. Character Name: Tesla Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs What do you like about this character? They stand out from their other models due to this "corruption".. I plan to have them phase in and out of having a personality and being a dull, emotionless Line IPC.. Nothing rulebreaking of course, simply them fading between both in a non-insane way. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would give myself a 7 or 8/10, although I would like others to make that judgement also, since I'm probably subconsciously bias. Notes: Got any constructive critisism or something nice to say? Posting it down below is highly appreciated!
  12. App wise, I like it.. A nicely done backstory and good answers to the questions. Although I have not had too much interaction with Zahra, the interactions I have had have been pleasant; being that she always seems to be doing her job well and professionally.. From an OOC standpoint I have no problems with Synnono, they're a good roleplayer who plays well on the server and follows the rules. No problems here and would love to see them get accepted. +1 from me and good luck!
  13. When Pyro is not busy bullying me over vented AI cores or telling me off for stepping into his deadchat he's often playing some quite cool characters.. Each one has their quirks and are unique in their own way, His AI is good aswell, not too much personality and not too boring.. Just like an AI should be.. This man needs to invade command with their german way of speech. +1 evil german scientist laugh from me.
  14. Thanks for the corrections! I basically adapted the current story to a more fitting race (being Skrell) and apologise for being a little careless to check for inaccuracies.. My mistake for being a little too ambitious with it.
  15. Agreed, it's a little unfair on those who want to play and not get rekt.. For example, one of my characters personality goes /completely/ against antagging.. Hence the reason I don't queue them for anything that directly makes them an antag.. So, they get shoved on a convert rune in the usual cliche way and I'm practically forced to die. I don't really get annoyed with dying in-game, but being forced into antag is just a little unfair since if people don't queue for it, chances are they don't know it or just don't want to play it. Cult also ends in either murdering a bunch of people, or the station being in disarray for extended periods of time. Merc and heist? Well.. The problem I have found is people running out of ideas for gimmicks.. So they resort to the usual "try and stealth and kidnap someone for ransom" routine, and often fail.. So people end up dying, bombs get blown up and generally it doesn't involve most of the crew.. Perhaps a way to fix this is to add some randomised objectives on the "You are a merc/raider" screen as suggestions? You don't have to follow them, but if you have no clue what to do then it's something stable to fall back on. But yeah, I think it is a problem and needs to be addressed in some way that pleases the majority.. Perhaps even adding some more gamemodes themselves? Since some are pretty stable such as cortical borer, being a good example..
  16. BYOND Key:House_Of_Synth Character Names:Ikrad Yam'hir, Dhaakir Izvench, Alister McLaggen, Remus Avardy, T.R.A.V.I.S, Tesla. Species you are applying to play:Dionae What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt):N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Well, I like to find new ways to RP within the game. First I applied for Head of Staff, then Tajara.. Both giving me a wide range of scenarios that I couldn't achieve without the whitelists for them. And now I am here, applying for Dionae. Frankly I find them fascinating; from the slow movement and speech to their language being melodic creaks. The fact that there are not many on Aurora also sparked my interest, therefore I would like to add to the pile. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Other than Dionae being hard-to-kill OP trees? Alot actually.. The fact that they move very slowly creates different scenarios itself.. I like to think they're big, slow, twisted knots of wood.. Creaking at every movement, and I just find that concept extremely cool. Their speech is slower aswell, being spaced with '...' although I have seen someone who spaces out the words. For example space would be spaaaceee or something along those lines. Their weaknesses and strengths are different to humans. Fire being uneffective and radiation healing them rapidly.. Although put them in a completely dark room and you stop them feeding off the light. Rendering them incapable of doing much. Character Name: Fire That Creeps Under Rain Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Fire That Creeps Under Rain was taken from their Gestalt by some Skrellian Scientists for testing.. They took them to a scientific outpost on the surface of Jargon IV specialising in genetics. They knew some things about Dionae, such as the learning via genetic absorption, but not enough to discourage a specimin collection for testing.. They also knew that the Dionae would not be able to speak Skrellian, since the Dionae structure did not allow it.. So they injected the Dionae with genes of a Tau Ceti basic-speaking rather talented engineer, allowing them to take these traits as their own.. Basic communication ensued and they found that this particular Dionae was designated Fire That Creeps Under Rain.. The Skrell took the Dionae for tests regarding its physiology and other factors that were still deemed partially unknown, all agreed or disagreed on by the Dionae itself.. When they had gained all the information on the creature they could, they arranged for it to be sold to NanoTransen, to work as an engineer aboard one of their stations. The Skrell were going to take the Dionae to Biesel, where N.T. representatives would take over. But said events did not insue.. The bluespace drive to the ship failed mid-warp, disabling the ship completely on the outer atmosphere of a hot desert planet.. The Skrell had no idea what to do, being scientists, they were not exactly experianced in the field of engineering.. They were too busy panicking about the heat to realise the ship was drifting into the atmosphere of the planet.. The heat shielding was only for standard re-entry guided by engines and inertial dampeners.. Not falling into an uncontrollable spin, with no control on speed. The ship crashed on the planet, the Skrell aboard burnt to death in the extreme heat before it hit the ground.. Fire That Creeps Under Rain was badly hurt, but the scorching sun gave them strength to heal from the force of the impact.. The ship had crashed in some sort of old battlefield, full of old scraps of machines and bi-pod walkers.. Fire That Creeps Under Rain assumed there must have been some kind of war.. they took an emergancy toolbox out of the downed Skrellian ship and started looking into the nearest wreck, salvaging what they could. Almost a year later, N.T. recieved an unidentified signal from an M-class desert planet orbiting close to star A1632-XFZ.. It was investigated, the investigators reporting a small speck of green.. Barely visible from orbit. Once in the lower atmosphere it was obvious what it was.. Greenery, on a desert class planet. They landed and searched the whole area of dense shrubbery.. What they found at the center was very interesting. A mound of twisted plantae material, but a material scan showed Skrellian alloy underneath, they made an educated guess that this was the origin point of the plants. Perched ontop was a rather large device with a dish protruding from the top.. They found this to be the origin point of the signal. A few hours passed and nothing, they packed up their equipment and were ready to leave.. But then someone pointed out a figure in the distance, growing larger, accompanied by a dull creak that grew louder as the figure came closer.. Fire That Creeps Under Rain was collected and transported to Biesel, where they signed to work for N.T.. What do you like about this character? They're resourceful, using things around them to their advantage.. They are also determined.. Can't have been easy staying on a wasteland for a year, salvaging parts in the hope they find something useful. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would leave that for others to decide.. But I would rate myself a 7 or 8/10.. It dips depending on how tired I am. Notes: Nope, I'm done here.. (hopefully)
  17. Although I don't know much about Skrell lore, but I have heard about a little about it. I like the backstory, it has key points in skrellian lore referanced if not involved to Veriqua's life.. Whiterabit is a great RPer, I dont think they have every broken character (at least not to my eyes) and their characters are well made and nice to interact with. No problems with them from an OOC standpoint either.. A +1 from me
  18. Icy's a good RPer, and a great player.. I would love to see them as CMO (or another head of staff).. +1
  19. Backstory seems good and I have had no problems with you OOCly or ICly (although I have not really RPed with your chars) +1 from me.. Good luck!
  20. Okay.. first off your first questions (the two after 'Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question') Need to be a little longer and a little more fleshed out in my opinion.. Right off the bat with your backstory I want to link you to this: http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=6218 It basically says that Tajarans have to be apart of the Adhomai conflict, reason being these apps are supposed to test your knowledge of the Tajaran lore. So for now I'm gonna' keep in neutral, don't worry about the negative feedback, I made the same mistake with my backstory.. Just needs a little refining and it will be fine.. Perhaps look at some other apps that have been accepted in the archives.. Hope this helps!
  21. BYOND Key: House_Of_Synth Character Names: Harry Wells (RD/Scientist), Alister McLaggen (HoP/Captain), Remus Avardy (Engineer/CE), Sirius Rayner (Nursing Intern (for now)), Phineas Falco (Sec' Cadet (for now)), J.A.S.P.E.R (borg) and T.R.A.V.I.S (AI) Species you are applying to play: Tajaran What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Ash Grey Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I have indeed Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I have been playing a while now, and am still experimenting with different ways of roleplay and such. I have always loved Tajarans as a race and find them extremely interesting. I love how they speak in third all the time and roll the 'r' sound and think it would give a great new aspect to playing the game. It would allow me to explore a whole new world of RP and experiment in more ways. It would also test my roleplaying skills as they are a whole new species that (as stated below) require me to know about their lore and such. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Well the Tajarans are a whole new species, meaning they take a different form of RP and are more difficult to RP due to the fact you are playing a species that you pretty much cannot relate to in real life (unless you count cats, but Tajarans are not cats.. sort of). Unlike humans, which are easier to relate to (mainly because you are one). This means you have to learn about Tajaran history, how they think and feel about certain situations.. And having to deal with racists (personally I think racism between species makes the RP even better) This means more thought has to go into your RP and you have to actively remember that you cannot just play as you would take sitiuations, you would have to play how a Tajaran takes situations. Character Name: Ikrad Yam'hir Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Ikrad is an M'sai Tajaran with rough, ash-grey fur. He is a respectful Tajaran who is kind and helpful. His father was an engineer and his mother a nurse at the local hospital. He was very much a "daddys boy" throughout his life, so he often helped his father with engineering duties.. Only the simpler ones of course, but his father still taught him a lot. Ikrad was 16 when the first war came about. His village ended up being on the edge of a major conflict zone, his parents were heavy loyalists. Some people could not stand them for this, some could push past it and some respected them for it. One year later, when the war really picked up, a loyalist convoy came through the village. The vehicles were damaged, probably due to an ambush of some kind, and Ikrad's father stepped up and helped with most of the repairs, the loyalists were greatful and told his father about a job in engineering to help the cause, Drivash (Ikrads father) politely refused this offer. Roughly a month later a Rebel truck came passing through to head towards the battlements, it stopped over and asked for repairs. His father stepped up once more and walked up to them. He saw that they were obviously part of the liberation front and simply said, "I will not touch your filthy truck rebel scum." This was obviously due to his heavy loyalist belief and the rebels knew this. They shot him in the head and walked away, muttering horrible things about loyalists. Ikrad was outraged, he wanted to do something. He was also extremely upset. Being 17 with good experiance and educational grades in engineering, he applied for an apprenticeship with the Loyalists and in a few months they picked him up and took him into the conflict zone. He saw the destruction around him become worse as they got toward the middle of the zone. Although he was not fazed, he wanted to make his father proud and live up to his memory. He was going to be learning how to keep the artillery cannons in working order. Three years later Ikrad heard news that his mother was dead. She had sabotaged a surgical procedure on a Liberation Commanding Officer, she didn't try too hard to keep it quiet. Ikrad heard that she had shouted, "For my Drivash!" When she did it.. Ikrad was left with no more family, and blamed it all on the Liberation front.. All Ikrad wanted now was a quiet life away from the fighting. He decided the best place to go would be space. He applied for an engineering apprenticeship aboard a NanoTransen vessel.. Present day, Ikrad is a rather old Tajara now. He works on a NT station in Tau Ceti as an engineer. He enjoys his job, helping people and fixing up the station. Of course he misses his family but he doesn't miss the war. He rarely talks about his parents but he thinks that they would be proud of what he had become. He has been told he may be transferring station soon, one by the name of "NSS Exodus"... What do you like about this character? Ikrad, although emotionally scarred, is a caring and kind Tajaran, he will work to the best of his abilities and will offer help whenever he can. He can deal with minor racism although over time it can get under his skin a little. He knows how tough life can get and is very mature. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would say a 7 or 8/10, my RP does fluctuate depending on my mood and mainly how tired I am. Notes: Do forgive me if I make any mistakes backstory/lore-wise.. If you see any I would really appreciate it if you point it out to me via commenting or telling me in OOC on the server. I was also planning this backstory's final contents when my original app was denied
  22. Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: House_Of_Synth Character Name(s): Harry Wells, Remus Avardy, Sirius Rayner, Alister McLaggen, Ikrad Yam'hir. AI Name(s): T.R.A.V.I.S (used to be A.R.C.H.I.V.E) Preferred means of contact: Steam, Byond, TeamSpeak, Skype, Forum PMs and server PMs Age: 14 Timezone: GMT+0 When are you on Aurora?: Pretty much every day after school, although I will never be on on Mondays due to a hobby of mine. Experience To be honest I have not had much experiance with moderating. How long have you played SS13?: 3 months (in 9 days) 81 days overall How long have you played on Aurora: The same amount, 81 days. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I know most of the mechanics, although there are still many I am yet to gain knowledge of. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: No, other than trying my best to help if someone asks. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Nope, I have a clean record. Personality I tend to be happy most of the time, I love the idea of making the server better and easier to play on by helping others in need. Why do you play SS13?: Because I am a nerd who likes space (I may be lacking friends because of this). Jokes aside SS13 is so incredibly indepth it reeled me in instantly, I love games that are realistic and SS13 does it extremely well. Why do you play on Aurora?: I have not played on any other servers mainly because Aurora fits my idea of a good server pretty much perfectly. It has amazing staff and a great community, as well as the fact people don't run around with a steel kitchen knife shanking everyone and telling them that trump should be president. And the fact that they are dealt with in a reasonable and swift way. What do moderators do?: They help keep the server running smoothly, for example Aurora is a HRP server, meaning its quite strict on the rules considering RP and breaking character. If someone breaks the rules in a way that can ruin other people's experiance they should be dealt with, often by admins or moderators.. Basically what I'm putting across is that moderators help keep the server "clean" of people who just want to grief and ruin other peoples fun. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: It is a place of authority and power which should be respected, mainly by the person who has the power. It should not be abused in any way, and you should be fair about your actions. Bias should never influence a decision. You are (should at least) be expected to perform a role of being Ambiguous and to set an example of what a moderator and a player should act like. For example if I saw that the moderators were awful I (not me personally) could take advantage and break rules and they would not care. Why do you want to be a moderator?: I want to be a moderator to be useful and helpful to the server and players playing. The community on the server is great and I would like to add to the positive attitude by being there for those in need. I love the idea of helping people enjoy the game by stopping those ruining it and answering their questions they asked through Ahelp. Coming from experiance, its quite annoying not getting your Ahelp answered, so I would love to make this happen less to players by being there as much as I can to help answer their questions about the game or mechanics. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I'm Ambiguous and love the idea of helping someone/people out. I'm happy most of the time and keep as calm as I can in certain, sometimes stressful, situations How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: If someone were to insult me and I could see they are angry and stressed I would simply ask them to calm down a little and allow me to help. I would not retaliate with any force unless absolutely necessary, I know my boundries and lines and if someone were to cross them I would simply ask for a little bit of help from other staff in Msay instead of, again, retaliating. Anything Else You Want to Add: Nope, I think I have covered everything.

And having to deal with racists (personally I think racism between species makes the RP even better) This means more thought has to go into your RP and you have to actively remember that you cannot just play as you would take sitiuations, you would have to play how a Tajaran takes situations. Character Name: Ikrad Yam'hir Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Ikrad's childhood was what you would expect of any child Tajaran. He admired his parents as every child does. His mother was a nurse and his father worked as an engineer. He was only 12 when the revolutions and war began; And when the revolution picked up to full pace and both of his parents were called to aid in the war. His mother was called to nurse wounded soldiers and his father was called to work engineering duties that would help the cause... One year later his father was killed in the war. He and his mother were impacted with alot of sadness although they had no time to grieve. His mother was forced to work longer, harsher hours and eventually could not care for Ikrad any longer. She sent him away on the refugee shuttle and Ikrad found himself in the Tau Ceti system. He was then transported to Biesel, to carry on with his education. Getting good grades in engineering and IT related subjects he sought an engineering career just like his father. He finished his education with qualifications in engineering and has applied to work upon the NSS Exodus.
  24. I made a few changes incorporating some of your ideas I /think/ I got the time it takes to get a PhD right, Thank you for the advice I think it has really helped
  25. BYOND key: House_Of_Synth Character names: Harry Wells (scientist), Rick Stevenson (Roboticist), Remus Avardy (engineer), Sirius Rayner (nursing intern (for now)), John West (security officer) T.R.A.V.I.S (AI) and J.A.S.P.E.R (borg) How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I have been playing on Aurora for roughly two months. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I would like to become a Research Director. So I can help coordinate science so everybody can make the most out of the round and to add to the overall RP of the science department. Why did you come to Aurora?: It started when we would always ask one of our friends to play with us and he would say "oh let me just finish this round of Space station 13".. Eventually I though I may as well see what the game was like so he recommended Aurora as (in his words) "it's one of the best roleplay servers in "ss13"" so I got in and I really enjoyed playing and seeing such a nice community in a server. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes, and I will also probably look back at it every once-and-a-while Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay to me is creating what would at first seem like a simple story, and letting it branch out over time, nobody should expect their character to be extremely well thought through right away, that's the beauty of it.. Its writing your own story and keeping up with others stories as well, this makes everyone different. Roleplay also plays a part in other people's experience with the game/server itself, if you just speak and act extremely generic, your co-workers won't really find you very interesting to work with, but if your character has a personality and acts accordingly with that personality it makes the game more interesting for people. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: I think the OOC purpose of a HoS (Head of Staff) is to co-ordinate their department, to make it work like a well oiled machine rather than everyone running around like headless chickens, this can be fustrating to both the station and the players in the department therefore the head of staffs job is to coordinate everyone in their department. This also helps the players have fun in the round, as they know what they are doing and don't have to deal with fustration. Personally I enjoy having a research director on the science team as it allows everyone to do their jobs efficiently as they don't have to make assumptions on what they can do or not do. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I believe it is to set two examples.. The first is that if you wan't authority on the server you have to earn it by being respectful, for example in these applications (4th wall break is real) people give their opinions on you, your roleplay and your general attitude to them and the server, this goes towards whether you get accepted or not, so if just don't care for the RP and don't care whether other people have fun you may as well not play on a server with heavy RP and where people want to have fun.. The second is that anyone can apply for a HoS application, it allows for people to experience the game from another angle. I never thought I would apply for research director but here I am now. I want to show everyone that you don't need to be a genius to be a head of staff, you just need to have a good effect on others around you Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Harry Wells Character age: 44 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Harry was born into an average sized family, where he was encouraged to do his best. He had always been fascinated with science and the unknown and wanted to work on a space-station since he was only 5 as his father worked as an engineer aboard a station. He left school at 18 with excellent grades in science and mathematics, he then pursued a degree in robotics and studied it for 4 years he then decided to persue a PhD in robotics as he thoroughly enjoyed it, at this point he was already 30. Due to his excellent achievement NanoTransen offered him a job as a roboticist aboard one of their stations, a job in which he worked for 7 years.. He then decided to accept a 1 year research and development course before working as a research scientist aboard the same station for 5 years. Eventually he decided he would take advantage of his mathematics results and worked as a telescientist on a bluespace research outpost for one year. He then transferred station and now works aboard the NSS Aurora, working as a scientist and sometimes a robocist. He has applied for Research Director but has not heard from N.T. at the present time. What do you like about this character?: He works well with his co-workers and trys to help his department in whatever way he can and trys his best at all times. He does help the station aswell, for example once a IPC was attacked by carp and ended up almost dead, Harry managed to teleport him back to the science department where he applied repairs using his prior knowledge in robotics. He has also provided advanced technology to the station when he could. What do you dislike about this character?: Sometimes he can dip into trying to be a little more like someone in command than he should be, but manages to avoid it at most times. He also tends to stay holed up in his lab so perhaps he should "go out" and meet new people. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: Although he can be quite casual toward his co-workers he can also become extremely serious over certain situations. He strives to keep the crew safe when he can. He also helps when he can, using his knowledge to his advantage. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I would say a 7 or 8/10 as sometimes I "lose grip" on my character.. but that is happening less and less as I play. I try to make my roleplaying fun for other players, although I think I could improve this with a little bit more interaction with them, something being a Research Director would improve. My grammar slips up as well from time to time, as does my spelling which can be awful at times. Extra notes: Mwuhaha, now I can be the one to pester everyone for paperwork also constructive criticism is appreciated.
