1. Just take the latest save and start playing. This needs minimal management.
2. I am very sorry, but I don't have time. Someone pick this up. It should work with the newest version I think, allowing you to do cool stuff like raid those elven bastards.
3. Correspondence of Bokaza Pillarhoisted, 1st of Granite, end of term report Save: http://www25.zippyshare.com/v/ZceOUaXo/file.html
4. Correspondence of Bokaza Pillarhoisted, 1st of Limestone, mid-year report Screens
5. Correspondence of Bokaza Pillarhoisted, 15th of Granite, arrival report Screens (large)
6. Doorspiral The queen is dead, long live the queen! In the year of 249, after a long and peaceful rule lasting 140 years, queen Ezum Sinewportals has died from old age, leaving behind a grieving kingdom of The White Theater and 10 living children. The corpse of the late queen was barely cold when the eldest, Nish Roundedrings, seized control of the kingdom. Already the wheels of war creak, as the queen, both ambitious and old, seeks to break the long period of stagnation and reignite the era of conquests. To the north and south of Beak of Glory, the mountains where the kingdom is located, lie the goblin kingdoms of The Eerie Evil and The Noiseless Horror, eternal enemies of all Dwarfkind. To the east, is less ancient but equally hated elf kingdom of The Fern of Hides. All of them have grown beyond tolerance in the last centuries. However, before first strike is given, passive expansion is needed, a new fortress, to prove The Momentous Domain of winds that the Dwarf Kingdom of The White Theater is not ready to rust and die under the knifear overpopulation. For this task, a perfect location is chosen. Where the western end of the Beak meets the Cloudy Swamps, The Dutiful Blazes sits with its stacks of smoke and ash, an ancient volcano of massive proportions. Its glittery skin and flesh, the lush green feet and the fiery blood will fuel the wars to come. A group of seven, named The Cold Sky-Light, are sent forth to lay foundations of Doorspiral, the new fortress. Rules: Dowload the lazy newb pack HERE: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=126076.0 New players welcome. Once all players have played, the rotation restarts. 1 ingame year (early spring- early spring) /1 irl week (from confirmation that you've started your turn to 7 days later) turns. You can request turn extensions. If you don't respond in a reasonable time you may be skipped and put at the end of the list. Progress posts (IC diaries, OOC reports) are not necessary but are welcome. When you are done with your turn, compress the save (zip, rar, etc.) which should be locted in program dir/data/save/, put it a file sharing site of your chosing and post the link here. You are free to use tilesets, with all advanced set to game default. However, if problems arise, please be ready to provide which tileset you used along with all advanced options. The reasons are that saves need to be converted if tilesets change across files, it's done simply by changing the tileset to the wanted one while the save is in the game dir. Turn order: current, finished, skipped Bokaza VikingPingvin Fire and Glory Pegasus More players welcome.
7. Good thing it took me this long to start this. Lazy Newb 44.05 is out: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=126076.0 ReynTheLordVikingPingvinLordBalkara I'll add you on the list and make another thread once I have the game up and running.
8. We can do a lazy newb pack instead, if you folks are fine by it. Although, stability issues tend to arise on some system due to differences in tilesets and printmodes.
9. I was intending to use the 44.5 version of the game, which is the newest one. I haven't found any decent packs for this version yet, which usually come with a converter. I don't exactly know what the issues are with not using converters, but if you're sure it won't break the save for folks after you I guess there is no harm in trying.
10. I want to start a succession game. Just a regular DF, no mods or tilesets, directly from Bay12 entry page. If you aren't skilled in the game it's fine, spectacular failures are what makes the game fun. One week/one year turns with rotation. Dorfing requests are welcome and anyone wants to keep journals can do it on this post. I might set up a Discord server to help manage the players. Contact me through any means if you're interested, I'll put you on the list then inform you when your turn is up.
11. Cooking oil tank (full) order-able at cargo console.
12. I didn't mean stop, I meant reduced the frequency. The intensity was also reduced. And it's not against the rules to not like you, Jackboot.
13. I do believe I have curbed my behavior since then, I haven't done nearily as much shitposting between then and now as you seem to or want to believe. But I can't blame you for not knowing that, Delta. Instead, I will actually ask another member of the staff who's not clearly emotionally involved to attest to that fact that I didn't have any escapades against Jackboot that were actually strikeworthy. I have been actively avoiding any contact with him for sake of peace as I have previously explained. But perhaps that is not what you want to hear. Then, I'll say it. I am sorry my own autistic obsession over the lore has ruined Jackboot's, yours or anyone else's creative experience. I am honestly sorry. There is nothing to call it but pure uncut autism fueled by anger and disappointment. I have even in the outlined posts explained that I've given up on any point concerning the quality of the lore or lore itself. You can see that in the last sentence of the last post, "Does rose-petals around it make it sound more reasonable than it actually is." What I've been doing by shitting on Jackboot are mostly theatrics that people seem to like participating in and I am honestly disappointing that Jackboot, and you, seem have failed to understand this. In words of the internet "It's just a meme, bro." I'll also add, the assertion that I mainly lurk on discord to shitpost is untrue. I lurk because I like talking to people from Aurora. I do it so often I sometimes do it while emotionally distraught so I come out as an asshole. These times only seem like a majority if one tries and keep track of it.
14. Alright, we should probably get this stuff sorted out and perhaps get a chance to finally close it. Funnily enough, someone suggested I make a staff complaint on Jackboot yesterday, so I may have my doubts as to what really sparked this complaint. So, let me start with actually covering my somewhat long history with Jackboot. I've had interactions with Jackboot before I joined the loreteam. Sporadic, mostly in game and civil. My initial opinion was that he did not like me nor I him. Pulling concrete examples would be tiresome and hard by now, so you can chalk it up fully to my subjective feelings, besides, the complaint is not about Jackboot, it's about me trying to justify my poor behavior. Regardless, the initial opinion is more often than not a lasting one. Eventually, I got involved in lore discussions and lore app writing, which culminated in me asking to join the loreteam. I decided to bury any hard feelings I've had under a pseudo manager-underling relationship simply because it was a proper thing to do and at that point there were irrelevant anyway. After my introduction to the team, I started working on wikis an' stuff. Some issues started to pop up that bothered me, not linked with Jackboot's performance directly. Restrictive Dev team oversight, massive lore inconsistencies, lack of an ordered lore subforum, all of which I did believe back then and now stood as a direct obstacle towards making the lore great again. So I started to try and suggest some changes, voice my concerns and help facilitate improvements. I was generally met with indifference, disagreement or simply quiet. It's been a really long time and my memory is faulty, but people are welcome to voice their own coversions. I do believe I did not try and get them around Jackboot, but through, which is how I showed respect to the 'office' of Loremaster. However, if or not the hierarchy was ever actually there is irrelevant. I do believe that having a strong, focused lead is paramount to a proper creative process. I may have harped on before that Jackboot lacked vision, but I cannot know that without reading his mind. Whatever it was, I never saw it. We burned through several loredevs who I've always believed mirrored my own feelings towards the entire affair. Directionless, I started lose willpower myself, making myself busy with minor projects. It wasn't all awful, I think it was just awful overall. In the end, I think his biggest failure was communication, which anyone with any sort of authority, however small, must do. I have to admit that the final straw was a bit more selfish in nature than the actual care for the lore. I will omit details for sake of not involving them, but basically, a question of writing something was raised. I expressed several times I wished to work on it, outlining my ideas and getting very little if any feedback as usual. I did believe everyone was writing whatever the fuck they wanted during my entire tenure on the team. So, when Jackboot proceeded to uplift someone who's been on the server barely a month to do the job. Any respect I've had for Jackboot was gone at that moment. From there, my eventual decline into a feathered hateboner started. Later, Hive, who later admitted he lived with Jackboot, convinced me to leave the loreteam. After that, I was still salty yet conscious about it and attempts to bridge the disagreement were made on both side, especially Jackboot's. However, since then, my behavior concerning Jackboot has become basically a meme. In fact, for the longest of time my behavior prompted no punitive action at all and I my escapades had active co-participants. As such, I did not actually feel I was breaching any code of conduct. Now, my memory is faulty, but I do believe I was either warned or realized I was going to far eventually, which should be the fifth screencap. Ironically enough, I don't actually believe Jackboot's writing is bad. I've read his short story and even though I told him it was shit and uncreative, it was actually pretty good. My sentences are just a result of kind of vitriol talking to Jackboot and lore brings forth from me, there is no forethought or reason to them. This is what I mean by personal history. From that point onward, though, 26th of June, I was actually adamant at avoiding lore entirely, even hiding the lore discussion channel, for the sake of my own mental health. However, months later, someone mentioned plasma physics in general chat (something I like to talk about) and I started trying to hammer down the physics of plasma, warp drives, hyperdrives with Hayden (someone I like to chat with) in the lore chat (a topic it was made for). I viewed it as more of a mental exercise than actual lore writing. Middle way through the discussion, Jackboot started detracting from the argument with throwaway phrases such as "It's just a game.", "It doesn't matter.", "This is a fantasy universe.". Mind you, I don't remember him ever actually contributing constructive to the conversation and I don't know his reasons for trying to detract from a simple discussion. I broke the discussion to stop myself from engaging further. I do believe I mostly did stick to it, since there are no real outbursts I remember since then. Although if anyone can provide screens I can help clear what happened. Eventually, Jackboot informed me that he had effectively blocked me, which annoyed me considering we were participating in a conversation under political. I, maybe mistakenly, considered it a slight "Fuck you." and interpreted it as Jackboot's wish to not actually see anything I write, because that's what a block is, essentially. As such, I continued memeing the horrendous "Jackboot sucks" meme despite being aware it was not wise. Yes, it is in poor taste. Yes, I was warned. But as human psychology goes, the longer you do something unpunished the harder it is to stop. Maybe, if Wrath of God was immediate, Christians wouldn't be collective hypocrites, ehh? But yes, I don't know what else to add. In the grand scheme of things if or not I am right about Jackboot doesn't even matter in the grand scheme of things, the vitriol he gets from me is not justified and I do feel a slight sense of shame for being a sperg. I may add more information later, but I don't have anything else to say in my defense and any apology is pointless at this point. I give the apology anyway, however insincere it may seem.
15. I would be down in a week or so. I can probably get my brother to play as well, if you are interested in accepting an outsider. Fluent in english and not obnoxious.
16. Add a "Basic writing Guide" for loredevs. It's very much needed. Also, a dictionary to help fix spelling mistakes. Jokes aside, someone should probably make a guide on how to make future wiki pages to help standardize formatting.
17. I think there are sagnificant expanses involved in space travel still. Even if the gate fee is small per individual passanger. You aren't going downtown, you are moving your fat ass hundreds of light years not to mention the sublight travel orbital movement.
18. As ultra sec-minded player, I tend to notice and remember mostly shit behaviors and characters. None of his characters ever came to mind with anything other than exemplary behavior. Having seen Jack's professionalism, and Samiya's good Sec ethic, I believe both Seb and his character would make for an excellent Head of Staff.
19. Three so far. Also, if you have questions, feel free to ask. I am usually responsive.
20. Aurora-based Discord RP: OOCulus Drift Introduction: You were watching TV, minding your own business when the commercial break hit. A flashy NT logo appears followed by a commercial. An annoying voice of a human salesman starts to speak to the audience, showing pretty pictures of nice looking apartments, boring dinner parties and golf. "Does your monotone existence tire you? Depresses you? Do you wish to escape to another reality where you can be yourself? Well, if that's the case, we have a deal for you!" A picture of a strange looking helmet thing pops up. "Ooculus Drift, new from NT entertainment division!" A series of pictures of happy people of all ages appears with the voice going on in the background. "The helmet allows you to travel into a virtual reality where all your dreams come true, designed completely by yourself! Or maybe you wish to enjoy other people's creativity like and link to their worlds!" A series of majestic looking images begins to slide, allowing you just enough to time to for you consider the possibility this may actually be interesting. "Now, you may ask: 'Mister salesman, isn't mind upload technology dangerous?' We say nonsense! Our technology is based on direct neural input, it's your own Holodeck in a form of a comfy helmet. It's completely safe, and cheap!" The image changes into the picture of the helmet one more time before switching to the NT logo. "Ooculus Drift, from NT entertainment division. Buy it now! Because your dreams are our reality!" Just before the commercial ends, a text in tiny print appears at the bottom, so tiny that anyone with a bad resolution couldn't even see it: May or may not contain snippets of Vaurca mind upload technology; NT does not cover any potential brain damage from extended use. For reasons known only to you, you buy it several days later. Excited, you plug it into the power supply, slid the helmet on while sitting on a comfy chair and start the adventure. You feel a tingling sensation and a short stab in your brain as the helmet activates. First, you can feel your hands and legs go numb, as you instinctively try and remove it your hands do not move. The control of your body goes away. You panic. You hear a short sentence uttered by pleasant female voice: "Motor controls deactivated: proceeding sensor override." Your sight and hearing go away... so does the numb feeling, as your mind begins to drift across your body into the abyss. A dreadful feeling of harmony goes over your as your are completely unplugged from your body. Complete darkness. No stimuli. But you can still think. Is this what being dead feels like... you feel insanity going over your until darkness finally turns to a perfectly white screen: "Welcome to Ooculus Drift. You may now interface with the programs. Please think to access the- zzzzzt-" the voice stops... mid sentence. The white screen starts to distort in ways you can't even imagine. You feel like throwing up but you have no stomach. As the screen turns to normal, you feel almost a satanic voice speak to you, deep and echoing, like every word was spoken by thousand voices: "Welcome organic... to my Domain." OOC info: Alright. Some of you may be asking yourself: "Dafuq is dis shite?" Well, to put it shortly, it's a RP game inside a RP game. Your character has been pulled into a virtual world of an insane AI entity. You are now its prisoner and it wants to play a game. An RP game. What your character does and does not do will effect if they are able to return to the real world. Why I chose this for chose this forth-wall breaking adventure over something simpler? Because it allows almost unlimited variety in experiences, freedom from lore restrictions while still being faithful to it. My TES RP always revolved around players choosing what adventure they want and this is an element I think everyone enjoyed. You are not forced to stick to any given path, and with the added benefit of the world being virtual, you are not glued to the snowflake rule. You can customize your character up to the point where it does not anger the entity. Want a psionic commando chick? Sure. Unathi elite warrior? Sure, go ahead. You want to spend your time ERPing with other players? You get erased from the game. Period. Prolonged inactivity will also be punished, and the game reality will morph to exclude the player directly changing story as needed. Good? Alright. I will be setting up the discord server soon. Anyone interested is to message me by any means they have, or simply glue a reply here. You can draft your character, but do not post it here. You will post it on the discord server.
21. Here's a suggestion. It's suppose to be sung either in english or the ancestor of Sol Common. Some antiquated, strange words or strange grammar would give it more charm.
22. Just had a great round with Ezua as Silvers. Can confirm they are a great doctor and definitely CMO material. 10/10 would def have tramadol forced down my throat again.
23. I find it surprising no one commented on this app considering Delta's long history on this server, so I guess someone has to. The app shows a good understanding of the history and behavior of the species and is very creative. The backstory, though, while creative does not tell us much about their personality. I understand that's a minor issue considering it was raised on my own application. For delta's behavior, despite previous scheveningens I don't think they would abuse the whitelist and that they can be trusted with it. Their RP abilities are indeed in the 10/10 range.
24. Most of the things and points have likely been said, so I will just give my understanding and opinion on how things should be. Basically, implement any or all of these is varying gradients, but not so punishing. The whole point is not to punish players for dying, it's too make medbay less of an infantry factory and more of a player saver. If everything is functioning, there should be no reason to prevent cloning. If the station is falling apart, medbay should be prevented from recycling back into the fight.
25. After non-existent input from Jackboot, I've changed the app to be more sincere and more serious. With that, I will leave this app to cook, as I have little else to say other than the waiting will eventually rob me of any inspiration I currently have to play Unathi. Thank you for your input.
