Marlon Phoenix' Unathi Lore Deputy Application
ShadowGabe23 replied to Marlon P.'s topic in Developer Applications Archives
This is a +1 from me, I'm not normally active community wise but for a long while I was active in the old Unathi lore server, I have always appreciated the work of lore developers and knowing how important Marlon was in the formation of much of the lore we enjoy and indulge in now, it makes me feel at ease with the idea of them being a deputy, regardless of their past actions, it is not like they are going to become a lore master, they are here to help and flesh out the lore, and I dont believe there is any denying the talented lore development that has come from their work. In general, as far as I'm aware no matter what people individually think of Marlon, there's no denying that they were a huge foundation of lore, and it wouldnt go amiss having someone who can and will help to flesh out more Unathi lore, seeing as it is up there when it comes to my species preferences. I would be overjoyed to see Marlon come back to perform more work on lore. +1 -
No tau ceti part -1, in seriousness, Ati has very very very recently and very quickly became one of my favourite people to talk to ICly and OOCly, they are a great roleplayer and I think they are genuinely one of the nicest people you will meet, I also believe they will hold up to the standards that all command should, besides REDACTED. They are competent and extremely friendly, meaning they will be ready to help mentor people should they require it, and they will also be a great driving force for the round. I trust Ati completely with this whitelist, probably a lot more than some people I'd say. With that said, Ati will not only be trustworthy but will thrive in a more command-based RP environment and I believe they will do amazing! As if I even have to say it, +1!!

[Denied] Marlon Phoenix Command Whitelist
ShadowGabe23 replied to a topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I believe Marlon has wrote a generally honest and good application here, I have RP'd with him on a few occasions and can say he's one who cares about other players experiences and enjoys facilitating RP for everyone, as I mostly believe command is used for the more interesting things to happen in round, I'd trust Marlon heavily to have this command position. And from their app it seems as if they will be there to fulfil the mentor side of the command role. Overall I trust Marlon OOCly and ICly to be competent despite their honest mistakes. +1 from me!!!!!!!!!!!! -
I think RnD is awful to do, and while this may come down to me playing this game for too long and simply getting annoyed at the repetitiveness I still believe its not exactly one of the best things to have to do, and even though many can do it quickly, its hard to rely on the fact that 1. someone can do it competently and 2. someone is there at all, with that in mind, I believe that with this PR it would make it easier for the miners to have to go to one place in order to request the items they need. It also seems like general scientists jobs are not lost out upon because they still retain a protolathe and an autolathe, I feel like this PR would generally help the flow of science robotics and mining all rolled into one. With all that said mining boy says unga bunga +1

[Accepted] Shenaanigans' Command Application
ShadowGabe23 replied to Shenaanigans's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Personally, not only do I believe that it is criminal that Shen doesn't have a command app, I also think its criminal they haven't been playing here for much longer than five months, their player and IC interaction is a pure joy to have in the aurora community and they are honestly in my TOP 5 PEOPLE IN THE SERVER EVER, in all seriousness, Valeriya is a detailed and well put together character who manages cargo well, and well enough for me to believe that Shen would suit any command role in future, their answers are solid and I look forward to seeing them play as command but will dearly miss the QM position they held. Also remove dominia. BIG +1 -
[Approved] DeadLantern's Command Application
ShadowGabe23 replied to DeadLantern's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Deadlantern has quickly became one of my favourite people to RP with especially with Zar'im, I believe that Dead will not only make an acceptable command member but also a character that excels in roleplay and any other duties they uphold via the job, the app is very good and I'd like to give one of my biggest +1s ever, especially because they are simply a great person in general too! +1 without even a second thought -
ShadowGabe23 started following DeadLantern
-
Only today did I know these were something that could be +1'd and commented upon, and I just want to say how much I adore Deadlanterns writing and if on the small chances this doesn't get accepted I can almost assure you I will use these sports in my own Tajara headcanon, because these ideas are amazing and apart from oppression of the masses I wish I could enjoy one of these alien sports Mahusive +1

Venty Tries For a Whitelist: Chapter One, Lizards
ShadowGabe23 replied to Venty's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Venty is someone I have known for a lot longer than I've had their discord name, their roleplay is phenomenal, and they are also a really sensible and nice person, I have no doubt in my mind that they will be able to play and use the unathi race to brutal efficiency in their roleplaying. I look forward heavily to roleplaying/bullying Uzunji Massive +1 from moi -
BYOND Key: ShadowGabe23 Character Names: - Ackin'on Ky'rat - Aurreos Kas - Zar'im Da'khir - Mahashiik Rohz Species you are applying to play: IPC Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Reach - I personally love the idea that IPCs are so sporadic with how they are created or purchased, while a rich person could simply purchase or ask an IPC to be made for a small reason or small purpose such as gardening, a person who is in the working world could require an IPC as a necessity and as an investment, hoping to make more money than they spent on it. This means that a lot of the reason I want to play this race is that I can play around with so many thought provoking concepts of an IPC, allowing for deeper roleplay and interesting interactions. This makes the race more appealing to me as the more roleplay interaction I have the better I can roleplay, as an IPC or as any race. Morality - The IPCs prime directive is self-preservation, the idea of them having the constant thought of protecting themselves affecting every decision a normal brain would make personally makes me even more interested to play the race, I also love that they could see self-preservation in a plethora of different ways, while one IPC could see it's self-preservation in the form of becoming a free IPC as soon as possible and ensuring they are safe when they are free, another IPC could see it as the opposite, by staying as a good worker and doing their work to the maximum so they aren't dismantled or disabled by their owner, provided they have one. Mechanically - I love their mechanics, the fact that they have obvious weaknesses and clear strengths make them balanced in many aspects and while I dont play on playing security or any heavily movement based role, it is nice to know there are specific frames that work on so many levels. This makes the whole race even more appealing to me. Overall, the main reason I've decided to make this application is because I see IPCs on station and the players of them are so well roleplayed and it makes me want to play them more and more, all the stations current IPCs are so fun to roleplay with when I have, and it makes me want to play them as I learn more about their history and such. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Decision Making - IPCs have to go through a form of decision making that most humans dont have to actively think about, they put self preservation first, which would mean that where many humans would run into a situation with possible expectations of knowing they might have to be patched up after, an IPC might completely avoid a situation in order to ensure its frame is maintained, for even they have the knowledge that their frame is expensive. Emotions - They are unable to express emotions as a human would, they have to simulate what an emotion would be like, should they choose to simulate it at all. They would only provide a shell mimic of what a real emotion would be expressed as. Speech - As stated in the wiki and such, the speech patterns of an IPC would in themselves become a form of dialect, the way they speak would be noticeably inhuman. An IPC would likely never use colloquial language, mostly so they can avoid as much confusion as possible, they would prefer to speak in a clear and more verbose way. Unless of course they were programmed to speak in a different manner. Character Name: DELVE Backstory: Originally built in 2451 where it would be seen as some of the first Generation Two Hephaestus Industrial Models, its primary goal was to work with its only purpose being its job, and therefore its only reason to exist. Its owners who were two inherently rich men were about to become richer, as they placed their money collectively into DELVE, purchasing it with the sole purpose of DELVE being a work machine investment that could be rented to many different companies. It would be placed on many mining colonies at the start of its life, exceeding as one of the first G2 models demonstrating exemplary work as a miner and the ability to sort its minerals and send them to where they needed to be with quick impressive speed. Being sent to many different mining colonies gave DELVE a very rough way of speaking, it does not use colloquialisms but it does try to impersonate the rough and dry voices of the human miners he had worked with throughout his time. DELVE would continue to do this without realising that it could have many purposes, as he started to witness more and more IPCs claim freedom in Tau Ceti, he wondered if he had met the announced conditions to become a free IPC, given its rented circumstance and the extreme increasing nature of its owners. Still with the knowledge that he could likely be a free IPC he didnt falter he continued on his workpath working for as many mining operations as he was rented to, however, as a business goes, DELVE realised it would not be long before its owners would begin to purchase more G2 Industrial Units, that could eventually render DELVE less of a priority, thus causing it to contemplate the best course for its prime directive: Self-Preservation. In DELVE's new quest and by proxy its new reason to exist it believed it should seek out the form of a trusted individual before it would become less of a priority for the owners. It heard synthetic whispers of The Trinary Perfection and the freedom of many. It believed it had to be free. When it finally enquired to its owners about the how much money the unit had made for their owners, they grew visibly worried as they didnt want to lose an investment, and something they saw as a slave without any questions originally. The owners chose not to give DELVE an answer, and told it to go back to work. By the time Purpose had sent drones throughout all of Tau Ceti in order to learn more of organic life, and the news displaying the ambiguous intentions of Purpose as an all synthetic colony and culture. The owners were in fear of what Purpose could do to any people who strictly own a synthetic lifeform for renting and allowed no freedom for time to do as the unit pleased, the owners caved in and, while Purpose showed no harmful intentions and the photos of EC-2718 showed no armaments, they still believed that Purpose would hunt down any organic that held a synthetic unit, causing the owners to send DELVE to District 14 where it would become one of the millions of free units populated there. It eventually an offer to work aboard the N.S.S Aurora as a shaft miner of the asteroid, while this was no challenge and the unit was happy to agree to the job and all its conditions almost immediately, where it would become a shaft miner on board the N.S.S Aurora, as a free IPC. What do you like about this character? Experience - I love the fact that DELVE has a level of experience within mining and that it has been praised for its work in the past aboard many stations, I like that all of that experience has gave it a voice that resembles the dry voices of the many humans it had worked with, who had likely given up on life, yet it juxtaposes with the fact that the unit is a relatively new machine that has its purpose just on the horizon, yet it has the synthetically created personality of someone who perhaps isn't at their happiest state. Attitude - I love that when I play on station I will be able to demonstrate that DELVE is a free unit yet will show the mindset of what it is; which is a synthetic who has just been forced out of work by its owners, so it would see its new work as its old work, and will be extremely dedicated to its job. Integration - Being a unit that has never really been in a conversation where someone genuinely cared for what it had to say, I think it will be fun to develop DELVE's personality as it slowly learns genuine facts about organics and how he can share his story with them. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I like to think that I am a relatively good roleplayer, and I like to make my characters act as what I would act like in certain situations, sometimes toughening them up or other times finally expressing a vunerability of theirs, I like to put my characters in a sort of disadvantaged state so that it can improve roleplay. I happily and freely move between emoting and speaking, always insuring I keep to my character, if I am an Unathi I will always roll my s's and the same goes for the Tajara, naturally not stopping doing that to powergame if something happens to my character. I like to make most of my characters friendly, which is something I should work on, I feel like I should be able to play a sort of ignorant character for once, ignoring how much I would like to start a friendly conversation, and I always have antag roles turned off in fear of making someone unhappy if I kill them and such. But overall I would like to believe that I am a good roleplayer and that I am fun to roleplay with on the server! Notes: Thanks for reading mwah

[Accepted] Worthy's Head of Staff Application.
ShadowGabe23 replied to Worthy's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I have been playing with worthy for quite a while now, and I have seen them play multiple departments and quickly master them in days. They are strong RPly and they are very competent mechanically. I enjoy roleplaying with them, and I have seen many other players enjoy roleplaying with them. I believe they will have no trouble playing as a captain. In many of their security characters I have witnessed them thrive in high pressure situations. I also believe they have fully fleshed out this new character and I look forward to playing with them more! And with that I +1 -
Now, I'm no coder or dev, or anything that would be able to do this, but I was just thinking about the lack of new antag roles (once again I don't know how hard they are to make) but I was thinking about a possible new antag that could go in turn with the new IT department, whenever/if that comes out. My idea is the idea of a hacker who is on his own shuttle somewhere near the station, and can be found by stray miners or something of the like, but he would have a laptop, that allows him to see through the cameras in a similar way that security can see the cameras or alternatively you could allow him to move in a similar way to the AI. But the hacker antag role would be able to interact and use things like an AI would, but only in areas he has installed his virus in (Green APC) Which allows it to be very similar to the rouge AI, but he is then able to control absolutely anything in that area and be able to hack past machines ID scan allowing him to view more areas. The way I had also thought of it working would be to allow the hacker to get abilities for the more APCs hacked, this would include abilities like - Shutdown - Complete shutdown of all electronics based on an area. 180 second cooldown, once brought. Link up - Allows the hacker to be able to speak on any comm line, in any voice. 30 second cooldown between comms, cannot connect to more than one comm line. Bang! - Allows any hacked APC or light to explode out of nowhere 120 second cooldown, once brought. Hack - Hacks an APC and drains it of some power giving you access to more power. Suggestions of other abilities are appreciated and I would look forward to reading them. The Hacker could also have some sort of power supply or mana-like idea that needs to be gained from the Hack ability. Anyway, the AI could be able to install some sort of software protector that has to be made by the IT department or something, but this would block the hacker from hacking the APCs that have been protected. my only problem with my idea is that I don't know how the IT department would make this protector. But then on the other hand it could just be a matter of an AI job, while the whole station thinks that the AI is rouge it has to convince the crew and it has to find out about the hacker itself. And then also install all the protection software making the AI's job much harder. But my idea of how to rid the antag is something like if the AI or someone has installed the protection software to more of the station than the hacker has hacked then the hacker would be shut out of NT's network, thus ending the antags round. I liked this idea as it would add a bit more to the antag list and would allow for a few new mixed modes like Tech Assault - Ninja and hacker, or Betrayal - Traitor, hacker and AI? Anyway folks it was just an idea of mine, take it as you will. Suggestions and comments/questions are welcome, so we can all somehow make this possible or something!

I play Ackin'on and I've enjoyed RPing with Miranda a lot she seems competent in medical and she is competent in medical and is seemingly very vital to the staff there. I'm going to give them a +1 purely because of her competency and he ability to have interesting and fun one on one RP sessions. Thank you for making the station that little bit better! -
[Accepted] Calion's HOS App
ShadowGabe23 replied to calion12's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I have played a few rounds with some of his chars and he has shown to be a well rounded and competent player who knows what they are doing even in high-stress situations. They consistently role-play well and they are very fun to RP with as well so with that information I am giving this app a +1 -
BYOND Key:ShadowGabe23 Character Names:Ackin'on Ky'rat, Amy Colbain and Camila Garcia Species you are applying to play:Zhan-Khazan Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt):Blue-Grey (RGB 34, 37, 50) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:Yes, two times over Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I wish to play this race as they have a dense backstory that I could utilise in order to create an in depth and interesting character that has a lot of stories to tell and many things to learn. This could be done by me talking about the different revolutions and how my character played a role in them, and how they were able to stay alive during them. I could also use their backstories in order to let my characters life tell a story that people would understand and hopefully would learn about my character from. I was also interested with their past and how they fight and fought their wars, making them much more interesting of a race, in my opinion. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Being a Tajara is very different than being a human as they have so much history about them that can change how they act around other people and how they show feelings towards other species. This would make playing a Tajara an interesting thing to do and something that could expand not only my experience with their lore but my experience with roleplaying and how I can play in general. But being a Tajara also has the idea of being united with fellow Tajara wherever they are. Mechanically however they do roll their r's and speak in third person. Character Name:Zar'im Da'khir Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Zar'im was born on Adhomai with a very poor and labouring family, he was forced to work at a very young age due to his father being ill, his illness likely contracted from the D'as'ral Massacre. He had to work for his family to stay alive and survive, when he was around the age of 9 he began to look for a job for him to do, one that could support him and his family for the harsh winters to come. While young he was seemingly separated from the political world of Adhomai, as he worked in and around Amohda he began to hear talks of a better world, the idea of a free world had interested Zar'im causing him to be influenced by the idea of a place that he and his family could live happily. When he realised he wanted to help his family become better and have a better life together, around the age of 15-18, he grew to be bulkier and stronger he began to work harder than he had ever worked before. He became a better miner and while wages were small and in bits he tried his hardest and saved. When he found a job that would pay much more money and he could do what he had learnt to love doing. He never wanted to join in any wars so he tried his best to stay out of any conflicts. He was scarred by the stories he had told him and wished to avoid the fate that many suffered. The job that he saw was a better pay and it liked the idea of people treating him better on an interracial spaceship. He considered what would be best for him as he most likely would not see his family a lot of the time however all he wanted was somewhere for his family to settle down and for his dear father to get the treatment he deserves and needs. He decided to take this job and work for NanoTrasen he took the shuttle up ,after telling his now cheerful family, for his first shift on the NSS Aurora. What do you like about this character?I enjoy the fact that he has a reason to be working for NT and that he just wants to see his father better and family safe. How would you rate your role-playing ability?Around an 8/10 I believe I've gotten better at roleplaying since my last attempt. Notes: Feedback is appreciated.
