  1. Don't remove total drone door access, it's about 500% too much of a response. At most, disallow pAIs to go where their master's can't, or else you won't see pAIs anymore. Alternatively, have them use doors like normal oomans.
  2. When will @everyone work?
  3. I think making them escapable would be nice, as long as there is a bit larger of a drawback than just breaking out of cuffs. In a perfect world, straightjackets should be used to keep batshit fucking crazy belligerent "I'M GONNA KILL YOU ALL" antagonists from actually being able to do it, but right now (as has been previously mentioned, my apologies for preaching to the choir), they're sort of a set and release way to nullify conflict from a character. Another option would be to make them only administer-able by the CMO or Captain, and only temporarily (something something humane, something something "Human rights violation", to keep their ability to restrain indefinitely, but putting it's abilities in the hands of someone who has a whitelist and will then be expected to further roleplay with their position.
  4. Do you mean 'was' or 'wasn't'? Genuinely unclear. Oh gosh whoops, was meant to be wasn't.
  5. Hello, Tyr here. Yes, Byron heckled, but it wasn't unreasonable levels of heckling, and he stopped whenever it was very clear that we were actually a threat. Sure, ICly, it was a really rather stupid thing to do, but OOCly it seemed really rather reasonable. It was actually a bit helpful to the round, in all honesty, because without his heckling there would've been no way to prove our credibility by blowing up the mining station (and thus getting everyone to shut up).
  6. I'm a bit concerned with your favorite bands. While those bands /are/ technically prevalent in mouse lore, they're really not listened to for anyone lower than mouse-king class in society (the upper nobility). I'd be more than happy to +1 this if you'd change their favorite bands, because the chances of mouse nobility eating food off of the Exodus's floor is a bit too far fetched for my sake, you think they'd have moved on to the Aurora II by now. -1 for now. Please respond by 6/10/17 or this will be locked.
  7. A very large +1 to you sir, I was considering suggesting this myself. I play a lot of bartender, a little bit more to do when nobody's visiting would be a godsend!
  8. BYOND Key: NoahKirchner Character Names: Thomas McGillan, Jackson Wells, Christina Brown (Used for borgs), Kyler Benford, Eric Kimple, Charles Digson, Hudson Edwards, Victor Andreev, Holden Richards, Adam Harding AI/Borg names: Gamma, Omnicron Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:Yup. The lore's rather neat, so I've read all of it that I could find. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've always found the idea of playing a robotic, emotionless character rather interesting. So as soon as I read up on IPCs, and saw that they have a rather large range of ways to roleplay that, I was instantly incredibly interested in the race. For example, you can be a cold, work only machine that takes orders and speaks in a robotic, monotone voice, or you can have advanced emotion synthesizers and a top of the line voice synthesizer, and really any combination in between. That is really what drew me to the race, the broad range of personalities that you can create with it, and stories that you can tell. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: You have the ability to forego emotion in some, if not all, cases, where as roleplaying with a human requires you to be constantly aware of what your character would be thinking or feeling at the time. That being said, you still have a set of laws or a morality core to adhere to, which still allows conflict. Beyond that, just speech patterns and quirks typical of androids like regimented, "to the point" speech and consideration of the intricacies of being a synthetic (Serial numbers, module malfunctions, et cetera). Where as a human generally has a rather cookie-cutter moral compass that they adhere to and a generally similar level of emotion, IPCs are capable of going far past human levels of empathy, or fall incredibly short, and that makes them much different to roleplay. Character Name: Seven Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs HRD-FS-2227 is recently constructed industrial frame, being produced on HRS Lemnos just after the Sol Occupation ended. Designed to specialize in security, specifically in the field of forensics, the unit's memory storage consists mostly of information regarding forensics, genetics, and also contains rudimentary close combat and weapons knowledge, though only enough for self defense. Furthermore, his personality emulator compels him to be curious for curiosity's sake, and his voice synthesizer grants him a vaguely male, bass robotic tone. His emotion emulator is severely lacking, and as such the unit maintains a rather constant, neutral attitude. Despite this, HRD-FS-2227 is designed to be able to read the facial expressions and analyze the voices of organics and to speak clearly, if need be, so as to assist with the social side of investigations. HR-FS-2227, shortly following being constructed, activated, and undergoing successful testing, was sold by the Hephaestus Robotics Division to Nanotrasen to act as part of their security division. As he awaited assignment, HR-FS-2227 decided to condense his name to only "Seven", so as to make communication with his future co-workers easier. After having the entirety of Nanotrasen corporate law uploaded into his memory storage, the newly named Seven was assigned to the NSS Exodus as a forensic technician. What do you like about this character? I like the idea of a very curious, yet monotone and emotionless robot. He adheres to corporate law, but because his programming tells him to, not because his morality core designates right from wrong. I also very much enjoy the thought of a security IPC that acts purely in self defense, as opposed to always being on the front line as they often are. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 6.5. I know there are a lot of ways that I can improve my roleplay, and I know that I am not anywhere near the best in the world, but I do try rather hard to maintain character as much as possible. Notes: I am not the best story writer, and my writing may be a bit clunky. I did my best to proofread it and re-wrote it a fair few times, hopefully you can understand what I'm trying to get across.
  9. Perhaps a far bit late, but I forgot to check to see if there was a forum post on the topic. This event was loads of fun, even if it wouldn't have been canon, but the fact that it **was** canon made it absolutely goddamn motherfucking phenomenal.
  10. I, personally, really like the idea of having missing organs and limbs whenever the subject comes out. This would, I think, make cloning a bit less "Happy sunshine everyone's alive", and a bit more serious. It'd be a struggle to keep them alive throughout the entire process (If they're cloned with only one lung, or a damaged heart or whatever), and might make the entire situation a bit more engaging than "Body in, wait, cryo, release". But just my two cents.
  11. Well, then make saying *scream not make a noise, but have screams caused by damage start an "in pain" scream to add to the atmosphere surrounding injury. That way it can't (easily) be abused, and is a good way to make being shot in the leg more dramatic.
  12. Oooh this is gonna be really cool I think. I hope the server numbers get high and you see some riots .
  13. (Sorry if I do something wrong, this is my first post in anything about player complaints) I was one of the heist members this round, sent to recover the runaway ICP. The other two raiders went onboard while I stayed behind in the skipjack, so I have a rather clear recollection of what was said over comms and the general attitude since I had nothing better to do. Like aimless said, as soon as we arrived and claimed that the ICP was ours, the captain immediately opted to hand him over. No proof of ownership, not considerations of anybody else, he likely would have handed the ICP over right then. His justification for this was that the ICP "wasn't their problem" and that a federal agency from Tau Ceti (whose name I can't remember) would handle it. The two other crew members went aboard, got into a small bit of trouble as someone aimed a gun at them (for seemingly no reason, but unrelated), and then all was quiet. (At this point I was fighting space carp to get over after the gun, so I am not entirely sure what lead to the ICP dying) But whenever I got over to the station, the ICP was dead, and they just sort of threw it at us and told us to leave after returning our weapons. There was very little antag rp and it was basically just a business exchange as opposed to a driving force in a narrative for the station. So to give some reference to some things that were left out in the original post, and some ideas from a different perspective. My Ckey is NoahKirchner, and my name that round was Julius if you need to look anything up or verify anything.
  14. (First post, woohoo) This seems like a pretty awesome idea. As a guy who mains atmospheric technician, going into a depressurized area to attempt to recover survivors would feel a lot more space station firefigher-ey if they weren't dead from the cold vacuum of space. It'd also be neat if the balls could be reset with some fiddling to give atmos techs or engineering apprentices something to do in their down time (just small busy work.) As far as oxygen candles go, it's a luxury item for sure, and I don't think that players should spawn with it because that could potentially be incredibly helpful. However, I do think that they should be stocked in oxygen cabinets and given to engineering and what-not so they can distribute them if needed. +1
