  1. no.
  2. you realize this is 3 years old? Yes.
  3. Welcome back, yo.
  4. >Joins >"I will stop being shit and I realize that I was banned for it but i will be better now" >Has a ban for being shit >Quits, sarcastic all the while ???
  5. Henlo.
  6. Not cargo, nor detective, basically one job from each division, excluding cargo and some other minor divisions So basically, scientist, bartender, security officer, engineer and medic are my roles And any time i say division, i mean department, sorry, mixed terminology ..... Have you read the rules?
  7. Your IPC is... able to do literally every single job?
  8. Adding roleplay guidelines and rules seems like a really poor solution, in all honesty. Especially for newer AIs, it just becomes more hoops to jump through and more things to be worried about. If anything, adding laws that would restrict that type of behavior might be better, since it is right there and law-following is already a rule.
  9. This'd be neat but an AI's inability to physically interact with the world is it's only limiting factor on AI-antag gamemodes.
  10. An interfering law would be goddamn magnificent. Maintenance drones have, at least thrice now, come onto a crime scene I've been working on as an FT and cleaned up blood (with soap), meaning that I couldn't analyze it. Their laws right now allows a loophole where they can still do stuff that inconveniences you as long as they pretend that you don't exist.
  11. Any time you try to restrict a discord too much people just get mad. There are different interpretation of rules in a situation not as rigid as roleplay ingame since you're just talking and discussions can go a lot of different ways.
  12. BYOND key: NoahKirchner Character names: How long have you been playing on Aurora?: It's been six months I believe since I started, but it's been on and off since then. In practice, probably about two months of consistent playtime/on server. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I see a surprising lack of headstaff and not too much department coordination. I normally only see a Captain and HoS, occasionally an HoP but hardly ever any IAA or CMOs, and hopefully I can help with that. Why did you come to Aurora?: I hadn't played a HRP server prior and was curious about what it was like. I heard bad things but was still curious, and so I (very nervous about getting banned) decided to play a few rounds and discovered that I really like roleplay and this server was the best fit. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yup, I've read them all a fair bit just because I like to read the wiki. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay should be about making an interesting, fun and (sorta) believable story for all involved. Instead of playing the game to win, to complete your objective by any means necessary regardless of how it effects the other players, when roleplaying, you should strive to make an interesting scenario. On that same note, you should also have dangerous conflict, and if the situation calls for it, removing another player from the round should not be instantly dismissed because it would not be their optimal round. (Still not good to remove people permanently tho D:) What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Their purpose is to drive roleplay. They have all of the tools to do so at their disposal, and it is up to them to know how to properly use them to make an interesting story. They could drive roleplay by really interacting with their subordinates, organizing their department into working at maximum efficiency like a well oiled machine. They also drive roleplay by being the people who choose how to deal with antagonists, they are a very big part of conflict and they are responsible for keeping the game fun for both parties involved. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: OOCly, whitelisted players should strive to make the game better overall. Be it through simply increasing the quality of roleplay ingame, or by helping out new players in looc with mechanics that they don't understand. I would strive to uphold them by doing my best to include as many people as I can in roleplay and by doing my best to make the server better through both OOC help to new players and by using the mechanics at my disposal to make things play out as a better story. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Holden Richards Character age: 35 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Holden Matthew Richards was born March 18th 2424 on Earth to Jonathan and Mary Richards. He had a relatively normal upbringing, his parents both bringing in enough income to live comfortably. From a very young age, Richards became obsessed with geology and carried this interest with him all the way up through his teenage years. He had originally wanted to become a prospector, but as University neared, he decided a more business related field would likely result in a better life. Not long after he graduated high school, Richards left Earth and moved to Biesel. Once in Biesel, he enrolled in the University of Mendell and worked a number of odd retail jobs around District 12. After graduating from the University of Mendell with a Bachelors in Business Managment, Holden began to look for more sustainable work. Having trouble finding a well paying job, he decided to fall back on his knowledge and love of rocks and signed up to be a shaft miner with Nanotrasen. He started to work his way up the employment ladder after many years as a shaft miner and applied for a position as quartermaster. Once he had taken the Nanotrasen Introduction to Management course and with the help of his degree, the application was accepted and he had been promoted to quartermaster aboard the NSS Exodus. His ambitions were hindered, though, when the woman that he had recently married left him for another man, annoyed at the long hours he was working on station. Bitter but not defeated, he began to work towards another promotion, hoping to work his way up to be a Head of Personnel. Following a stint as an assistant to a Head of Personnel, Richards submitted another application in hopes of promotion, and has yet to hear back. What do you like about this character?: He's very ambitious and more of a blue collar worker than a bureaucrat. He's a bit more down to earth and less formal than a lot of other characters but still follows protocol to the letter in hopes to improve his position. What do you dislike about this character?: If you mean about what I've defined him as, I feel like the backstory could be flushed out a tad more. If you mean about his personality, he's bitter from his divorce and generally distrusting. He's been burned before and he's really only out for himself anymore. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: He follows protocol to the letter in hopes to improve, has been recommended by an HoP and meets the criteria. He does his job well enough and has all of his t's crossed and i's dotted. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: This question is sort of tough to answer. I think to me, my roleplay seems alright, I'm at least average, but it's difficult to judge yourself on something that you're doing, I'm inherently biased. Extra notes: Nop.
  13. Huh. Could've sworn that I +1'd this, maybe I'm an idiot. Anyways, +1, I can attest to his attempts to RP on other servers and he does the same thing here, and there is a severe lack of head staff from what i've seen.
  14. I will deliver the succ if you so desire.
  15. I think it might be better to allow reconstruction of incredibly damaged IPC chassis/shells using a load of materials and time, this would essentially make building borgs entirely pointless unless it's a punishment, since they could just come back as a human but now with **metal** and who wants to be a lobotmized workhorse for nanotrasen? Also I'm not sure Nanotrasen would pay the costs to facilitate building people chassis, things are expensive and don't guarantee a permanent employee (Unless you set it up like the IPC moving to head thing where the person is in incredible debt and makes very little money until it's paid off.
  16. Hey I double posted in my own thread. Boohoo get over it more maps my dude. Western Europe in 1717. Done in french and I don't speak french but we can tell from the map that it is sometime after August 17th because the Ottoman empire no longer has Belgrade. Some neat things about the time period, all of the countries here were still reeling from the War of the Spanish Succession. France would, in fact, declare war on Spain the following year, resulting in the war of the Quadruple Alliance to keep Spain from becoming too powerful (Since the king of Spain wanted to rule the french and retake lost lands in Italy. England and Scotland had just recently become unified in 1707, forming what would eventually become the strongest nation in the world. A really neat map, this one, incredibly niche (especially since we know that it's after august 17th and not a few months later war would already break out again in Europe.)
  17. Do you guys know what are cool? Maps. Maps are fucking cool and I have nobody else to talk to about maps so I made a thread. Post maps and map accessories. Old maps? Coolio, new maps? Double coolio. Normal maps? Nothing like a good 3d model. Incorrect maps? You bet your ass. Ss13 maps? Sure but lame. Even genome maps. Maps everywhere, maps are great, post maps. I'll start. Not an authentic map from 1477 (I believe that it's a time-frame, actually, due to the lower left. 1477-1480?) since it was made in the 1900s sometime because of the company that made it (bottom left), still a neat map showing central europe around the end of the Burgundian wars. Heckin' coolio.
  18. Prescriptions won't solve the problems of people RP'ing druggies. They'll just say that they have a prescription for it, get it, and then act like they use it recreation-ally. In all honesty, this post seems like a political statement about the legalization of marijuana (Which is being used interchangeably with ambrosia) more than a gameplay suggestion. Ambrosia has some very negative side effects, things that would make it illegal because it could very easily kill you if you smoked too much of it,and it contains space drugs, a very potent hallucinogen, something which I would assume would most definitely not be allowed on a space station. That being said, maybe a way to fit it in with the psychiatrist could work, but maybe not with ambrosia.
  19. Well yes, but they do work in managing the distribution of food. In that same step, electricians help manage the space station's power net, a part of engineering (Just like organizing and serving food is a part of cooking), but do not also set up the engine, fix atmos or construct things. You mentioned this in another thread, and I think that waiter and chef/cook are just different but similar enough to be considered an alternate job responsibility while not being tooooo different from chef/cook. As far as the "Head of Heads" bit is concerned, most of the civilian department works without even ever touching their radios anyways (At least when I play bartender or chef), I hardly think it would add too much of a workload onto the HoP.

    Cult Rework?

This sounds neato as heck. Right now as soon as runes are found everyone subconciously knows what round-type it is, this allows for a more stealthy approach and everyone going insane slowly would be p/ neat0.
  21. I feel like making ambrosia legal, especially after having taken into account skull's bit, would sort of rule out a fair few gameplay gimmicks. Right now if you get antag, you could literally set up shop as a drug dealer and start dealing space drugs from botany when nobody's looking. I'd also assume that any sort of hallucinogen would be illegal on a space station on which people are working (At the same time, I would assume the same about booze, though)
  22. I still slip on wet floors as antag and security every now and then, I feel like requiring run makes it a bit more special when it happens than the constant barrage of slips you get when walk-slipping in enabled.
  23. holy fuckballs +1 please maybe add an ads section to the newspaper that people can actually write in too?
  24. Newmap's kitchen is roughly the same size Instead of entirely removing a slot, maybe add an already subservient slot, have head chef and chef or some other variation which would have one obviously be in charge of the kitchen.
  25. Well, there is always a chance in security operations that an IPC (Or any officer, for that matter) is going to be put into harm's way, even though a forensic technician would likely be the last in. He is not a fighter, as I outlined in the application, but I figured that it would make sense that he would be built to withstand at least a small bit of punishment as opposed to the more basic baseline frames, which would icly likely be a bit more brittle. OOCly I like the idea of a slow moving, large, but generally peaceful and investigative/curious IPC.
