Make it take some time to weld lockers and doors.
Lady_of_Ravens replied to Superiorform's topic in Completed Projects
Yes please. -
That looks like the mutant horror-form of an Ewok. Wouldn't spend ERP token.
-
Truly an apt low-res depiction of a horrible mass of tentacles and claws. I want to spend my ERP token on this!
-
Bonus points if you can "accidentally" make kitchen knife soup.

Add research levels to vox cortical stack
Lady_of_Ravens replied to Lady_of_Ravens's topic in Completed Projects
Mwahahahahahahaha! -
Most brains can be deconstructed for research, let Vox join the club. Good for RPing vox dissections, too.

When in doubt ahelp it and let the staff decide if it's worthy of their attention.

It occurs to me that if there is an actual legitimate but non-emergency reason to "promote" an off-duty visitor to their normal rank, there's always the fax machine. I can see this being useful if there is, for example, a shortage of engineers or other mission-critical staff. It would be nice if there was a proper form for it, though.

Regarding the Revert of Genetics
Lady_of_Ravens replied to Skull132's topic in General Announcements
I'm glad to be rid of genetics, that sub-department was a constant source of headache, but how do we make protohumans now? They're super useful for, like, all sorts of science stuff. Also, fixing aesthetic stuff with genetics can be important in ling rounds where people don't want to spend the rest of the round wearing the wrong face. -
2 dismissals [+1 dismissal]A clean cut on meats!!
Lady_of_Ravens replied to NebulaFlare's topic in Archive
Perhaps a mechanic similar to that used for slimes in xenobiology... put the corpse on the table, cut it open, then extract pieces of meat. -
That's absurd, even by the standards of the party cargo bay.

Adding a psychological check in the Cyborgification Release form.
Lady_of_Ravens replied to Dragonspare's topic in Archive
I'm just going to put this out there: Cyborgification is the next best thing (or possibly the next worst thing) to death. It makes for a good capital punishment alternative for both IC and OOC reasons, and there is a visceral satisfaction to turning a traitor into a janitor borg, but it makes no sense lore-wise for a healthy person to volunteer to have their brain cut out and lobotomized so it can be used to run a robot slave. -
Well this is just wrong. Have any of you ever been arrested IRL? Even when everything is cool, you're compliant, and there's no violent crime they STILL CUFF YOU. And I'm sure if you said "no thanks, I don't want to be cuffed, just arrest me as I am" and then moved away when they tried to cuff you anyway, that WOULD be resisting arrest, though I don't know this from experience as I never was that stupid. Why? Because it's procedure. To the point where in some places if a cop gives you a ride in the back of his car he has to cuff you because he's not allowed to have non-cuffed people back there for bureaucratic safety reasons. Now cops on aurora don't have cars to put people in the back of, but they do turn their back on prisoners and lead them through the hallways, which is even less secure. And just because an arrest is peaceful and for something minor and nonviolent doesn't mean that a subsequent search isn't going to reveal them to be a corporate spy, syndicate sleeper agent, or some other form of dangerous criminal who was just pretending to cooperate until they saw their chance to escape. Seeing as there's no profit in taking a chance, and aside from being a little rude there's no harm in cuffing someone, the logical policy would be to always cuff anyone being arrested. This isn't badsec, this is realsec.

Or how about this: secret and mixed secret are taken off the list, people vote for the round type they want, and the game randomly selects one of the votes to go with. Not announcing which one is chosen would make every round secret, but only with the modes people want to play, and most often with the modes most people want to play. Plus there'd be no need for voting strategies, you just pick the game mode you want and you have a fair chance of getting it.

Why make it inaccurate? ICly there's no reason for it to be difficult to get the exact time down to the second. It's probably available on newscasters, medical huds, console screens, on the displays on EVA gear, and a bazillion other places. From there it's a matter of doing a little math, the sort even a cargo tech could do.
-
Not every department needs a pet. But if any department deserves to be so afflicted, it's the cargo bay, and they need a "cargo goat". The facehugger in the box is fine for research. It's cool and sciency and nobody wants to chucklefuck with it.
-
Often when doing science stuff it's useful to time how long it takes for something to happen. Doing this with out-of-game tools is only accurate if the game is ticking along perfectly, which isn't something to be relied on, so clearly an in-game tool is needed. And rather than creating a new tool (I mean, really, who would own an actual stopwatch in space?), or even just adding a function to PDAs, I'd like to suggest creating a simple new verb: mark time. It would tell you the current in game, IC time down to the second, along with how many seconds have passed since the last time you used the "mark time" verb.

[Accepted] Drakogova's IPC application
Lady_of_Ravens replied to Lady Fowl's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Oh, and a thought. You mentioned this character having a lack of culture, but it occurs to me that synthetic intelligence has been around for some 20 years, that's plenty of time for such fast-thinking and adaptable creatures as AIs to develop their own culture. Now maybe Maggilline hasn't been exposed to much of that due to her circumstances, that makes sense since she's spent most of her runtime as a synthetic Cinderella, but spending some time in Mendel City ought to fix that. -
[Accepted] Drakogova's IPC application
Lady_of_Ravens replied to Lady Fowl's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Looks good to me. I've RPed with this player a bit and she seems to at least have the basics down, beyond that I don't know. Good backstory, though, should work out well. Worth noting that I don't think Aurora counts as a vessel... I mean yes, technically it's a container for holding people, but I think vessel is usually used exclusively for mobile platforms. -
Full Body Prosthesis as related to legal rights
Lady_of_Ravens replied to Lady_of_Ravens's topic in Lore Questions
Unless something has changed that I'm unaware of, all IPCs get tagged regardless of brain-type. -
Genetics being gone is no more than a temporary byproduct of the code switch. It should be returning along with the new map. It's my understanding that genetics is staying gone... but irregardless, a geneticists can't restore a person's original UI unless they already have it backed up. The best I've ever seen a geneticist do is give someone a random protohuman's UI... hopefully of the right gender.
-
I strongly agree. This ability basically exists to create a distraction... and it does so at the cost of irreversibly disfiguring characters, usually with no RP. I'd rather be ganked. Alternately, making the effect of the sting temporary would pretty much solve the problem as well.

What's so bad about transhumanism? It can be a little hard to reason about if taken to a logical extreme, but not more so than alien intelligence (the artificial kind included). So what's the big deal? Check your organic privilege, bro. Also, evidence of IPCs having souls can be clearly seen during cult rounds, and the cult and it's magic are cannon... I thought SS13 was, at it's core, a paranoia/murder simulator built around an atmospherics simulator, and based on 80s and 90s science fiction. Am I wrong?
