Voting Machines: Threat to Democracy or Utility? Earlier today the national board of elections announced it would award a 140.6 million Cr contract to the Nanotrasen Corporation for 100,000 voting machines needed in the upcoming election. The machines are slated to be fabricated at Nanotrasen's Janus industrial complex on New Gibson the facility's administrator has been quoted as saying "Both as denizens of Tau Ceti and employees of Nanotrasen, we here at Janus are proud to do our part for democracy here in the Republic of Biesel" Engineers at the facility have stated that the machines will be based upon Nanotrasen's successful brand of request consoles already in use in dozens of systems across Human space. The announcement has drawn criticism from across the political spectrum including Joseph Gruber of the Traditionalist Part of Tau Ceti, Jay Goode of the Tau Ceti Liberal Party, and Karl Jhoonda of the Brotherhood of Tau. The most incendiary condemnation of this has undoubtedly been the Social Democracy Party and it's presidential hopeful Senator Aamina Al-Harthi who fiercely condemned the announcement on the stairs of the Senate. An excerpt is contained below " Republicans will demand that we see this contract as a simple result of economics. That these facilities are the closest to Biesel capable of producing these machines, and are the cheapest. I stand here, looking out upon this fair nation and this is what I see. The Senator continued on to attack the system-wide monopoly held by Nanotrasen, the Republican policy of confidential lobbying, NT subsidies to media which she called an attempt to replace free-media with Pro-NT propaganda, The Pro-immigration stance of the Republicans and their proposed free-movement treaty with Adhomai. She ended the speech with a call to unity to the minor coalition parties to join with the social democrats in opposing the contract.

Eh. I can see why it should be removed, or at least restricted from some jobs. It is unprofessional as fuck looking and Atleast I know I wouldn't hire anyone with that style of haircut unless they were extremely qualified, or there were no other options/ it was a job that the hair wouldn't cause problems in (Any engineering or robotics or mining, or anyone that has to use a hardsuit.) But then again, a large amount of the haircuts looks redonkulous and probably would keep you from getting any reputable job

Okay! After a discussion with Skull and other members of staff, I'm going to say this. (After JKJudgeX responds, I intend to close the thread) This situation was handled somewhat badly, while staff's decision (To allow Loyalty implants to override conversion) still stands (And is actually being given a mechanical "You can't do this" message). Both myself and Skull have agreed that JKJudgeX should have be informed of this failure of conversion. We apologize for this failure to communicate, and are fixing it so that this will not happen again.

Locking and denying due to a lack of progress on the banned party's behalf. Feel free to make a new appeal once you have redone Seon or made a new character and have improved records/backstory to display.

My assumption that this would be a short-duration ban, was built upon the foundation that I personally offered to sit down with Metaphysical and personally rebuild their entire character from the ground up. I have offered to sit down with him on Skype or some other chat medium, redo his entire flavortext with him, redo his entire record system with him, and try to assist him to the best of my ability to reshape the foundation of Seon into a workable character that could work within the established confines of the universe. This is an offer I have extended after EVERY warning issued to Meta (that makes it between 4-6 total), and it is an offer that has been declined or otherwise ignored by Meta. It is not my fault at all that he neglected this opportunity. I would also appreciate it if you would not clutter this thread with off-hand accusations of illegitimacy (That by the way was agreed upon by the entirety of staff that was available at the time of the ban I.E. 2-3 Moderators, another admin along with the head administrator.)
