  1. Let's see... I'm 21. Woo, we're off to a great start! I've attended High School of Arts in Brno with focus on Illustration/scientific drawing - from there, I went to BaƄa's University to learn me self how to animate movies, but I ran away from there because I couldn't stand the marketing aspect of the thing. I've been trying to read and if possible collect the works of humanists and humanistic socialists (I hate the labels, they are tricky as balls; we're basically talking fellows from Eckhart over Spinoza to Fromm) for more than five years now, and thanks to that nobody ever listens to me, because I'm a 'fucking commie'. I'm halway through getting my pilot's licence, which is to say, I can safely fly and land a plane, but need to pay for a bunch more hours to meet the required limit. I have also dropped a commission worth over 1700 euro because "I didn't feel like doing it". Oh! And out of my three attemps at actual long-lasting, serious relationships, two of the girls ended up in mental hospital.
  2. Generally speaking, I suppose none of us is creative enough to pull an entire comics all by himself - seeing as we all have been thinking of it, but nobody did anything much. ...so, how about we rather make a collection of short stories? It requires less effort from each of us, and yet the final outcome could be fairly lengthy. And, who knows, perhaps seeing something done would give some of us the kick to aim at something greater.
  3. I Gods Will Be Watching/Sword & Sworcery'd all over myself. I have a soft spot for this kind of stylization. You'd have all of my +1s, but... there's no Dan. *coughsubtlehintcough*
  4. Title: Cloning and Mental Health (published analysis) Author: Daniela Baranova Genre: Reference/Psychology
  5. Title: The Illusion of Complexity Author: Daniela Baranova Genre: Reference/Psychology (relabelling those shelves so hard)
  6. It's actually quite in character - he was ordered a three weeks leave. So well played, sir! Well played!
  7. Baranova's short career with Security helped her recognize that, in her heart, she is by all means a pacifist.
  8. Quite frankly, I always found that entertaining, in a sense. True enough, it can be annoying if you lose your "battle" over your desired position, but it is justifiable, gameplay wise (and namely this thing that is going on the Medbay truly does entertain me, it's like some brilliant mix between Dr.House and Scrubs). And, ater some time, unless your player-nemesis is a complete jackass (and if you're talking about the person I think you're talking about, then I believe a compromise can be reached), the game will get even better; we used to fight with Vittorio over the job of psychologist, now we mostly manage to switch regularly and hence get along, even ICly thanking each other for allowing us to have a shift-off. Similar thing with Von Tirol - from questioning each others' competence to counseling. What I am trying to say, I guess, is that you oughta be patient; it takes time, but it does give a wonderful feel to the game if you manage to eventually resolve your problems. Edit: I do realize, of course, that this is /not/ the same situation, but then again - fighting over a table to butcher people on seems as less problematic, seeing as it isn't accompanied by this odd hurt pride that comes with it when you end up as an intern, instead of a doctor. Edit no.2: I should've stopped talking much, much sooner.
  9. +1 I've only met Sarah of your characters (well, and got a few glances at NG), but she always left the impression of being one of the few truly... human characters. Capable, but empathetic and with her own head - not to mention forthcoming. edit: I pray that means what I think it means in English I think that if, on SS13, a sight of a security officer actually does calm you down and reassure you that things will be alright, it has to count for something.
  10. Recently, there had been a discussion going on somewhere regarding "non-antag" mischief-doers, and one of the popular topics was the distribution of drugs aboard the station, which apparently does have its charm for a decent number of people, but isn't properly estabilished. I think this might have to do with the not-all-that exciting effects of the space-drugs available, and would hence like to suggest blatantly ripping-off Philip Dick's Chew Z. How would that work? The idea goes like this; the charm of Chew Z is both in its incredible potential as means of escaping reality, as well as in the fact that the experience can literally be shared with other users. Upon taking the drug, the users leave their bodies and find themselves in another place entirely; for our purpouses it should be some kind of a nice, soothing, Earth-like scenery. In case it's not clear already, all the users, whether taking the drug together or independently, ascend to the same place, where they can interact with each other. While under the influence, their 'real' body would behave similarly to that of SSDs, with addition of some giveaway affects, let's say a foam at the mouth or something of the kind. Why am I suggesting such mechanisms? Fairly simple - as it is, there is really little point to taking drugs in the game. This, on the other hand, /could/ be fairly desirable, both IC-wise for characters wishing to get away from their life on the station (there are great many of those) and, my favourite point, by all the couples aboard that struggle to have their sweet moments. By offering a short-term escape into another, much more pleasant reality where nobody can reach them, I believe the Chew Z could find its user much more easily. The "frosting on a cake" Aside from this being illegal activity that the Security would, naturally, be trying to surpress (and the medical staff taking people for detox for), I imagine it would be great if the length of the experience was connected with the quantity of the drug taken, hence making it possible for the user to go too far and remain trapped in his collective dream world - in which case, a help of another individual would be required "from the inside", hence forcing the doctors to undergo the experience, themselves... or something of the kind. It could also be that the over-dosed user would experience traumatic/creepy as balls hallucinations in the dream world in which he would be forced to stay. Other potential At the odd chance that this actually passes, an event could be coming off this that would require one or two antagonists - somebody to ensure the distribution of the drug aboard, and somebody to haunt the dreamscape, capable of manipulating it to this or that degree (spawning mobs, perhaps?); possibly, it could even be one person with the power to switch between the two at his will. Such "Eldritch" antagonist's goal would be simple; to eventually trap everybody on the station in his realm, over which he has power. (possibly, he could be able to "break" the people down in his realm and turn them into his minions, much like with cultists and such - then release them to further distribute the drug, slip it into people's drink etc etc.)
  11. Hah, this is great! I really like what you guys did there - all of my +1s!
  12. Sure, why not - just three notes. 1) If you have a really specific picture of your character in your mind, you might want to provide me with some more detailed description. 2) I am currently working on a comics and trying to put together some decent pictures of Lockie/Samantha/Daniela, so it might take a lil' while before I get to you - so... don't be too excited. I work slow. 3) Did I mention I am incredibly lazy? As in, I work real, real slow? And there's no need for payment of any kind.
  13. A thousand times yes nid. I would maybe like to add that in most of the memorable cases, the actual tension is "projected" by the crew itself, and in a sense has more to do with the antagonists' presence rather than actions. What I am trying to get at is, lately I've noticed that while there usually are quite interesting RPs going on in relation to the threat/problem at hand, they are quickly pushed into the background by the antagonists simply going triggerhappy (or whatever is the equivalent of that with 'lings, vampires and so forth). In other words, there isn't always time to develop the atmosphere and make full use of the situation's potential. (it is a sidenote of a sidenote, but a BRILLIANT exception to this had been the "Peace cult" round, where the cultists did TREMENDOUS job of spreading their religion completely on the basis of IC convincing. Namely Tina Kaekel, who was portrayed like a scientist fascinated with understanding the phenomen, had managed to fulfill her cultist "responsibilities" without compromising the character whatsoever - as in, it was great to see a cultist who isn't a zealot trying to convert you to his religion. All of my +1s. Point being, the round dragged - which was in no way a bad thing, quite the opposite. I'm just trying to show that memorable events just cannot be rushed - and can be achieved with the already preset antagonists, with some good will.) So, to the would-be constructive part of my comment; I think it would benefit the game greatly if players were more often faced with impersonal problems and dilemmas, rather than specific antagonists. In a sense, having a specific enemy limits the playing field, nudges you towards action, and if there is any discussion to be had, it is about the details of the nature of the action taken. Less is more. (I remember spending an entire round crawling through the maintance shafts with another crewman, comms down, without meeting a single soul, and THAT WAS INTENSE.) Or that one time the crew was divided, because some sort of pirates offered to spare the station if they give away their supplies and women - it takes merely radio messages on the part of the antagonists, and has the potential to include ALL of the crew in the event. ... Got carried away, forgot my point. I will be back!

Wrong, yes - but somehow, even better.
  15. I swear, people do fight over the suit. As in, we all look for it ICly, there's just not enough for everybody. Namely with Tytos here, we meet on the spot on regular basis. That has to count for something.
  16. Apologies for bringing this up again, but talking as player focusing on psych/crime scene investigations, neither clipboards or boxes will do, or so I feel. It is a minor (if not even smaller) issue, of course, but having your evaluations and reports and all neatly packed in folders with attachements and labels and all that jazz fancy stuff - that'd be a nice final touch to the job. It wouldn't probably make anyone more effective, but the authenticity. But as I said, I recognize that this is fairly ridiculous issue and if no is your final word, you shall hear from me no more. I also begin realize I have a bureaucracy fetish.

    Holobooks

This I like. Especially the card-swipping part appeals to me, for some reason. But then, for this to have some actual practical use in RP would probably require amounts of preparation that might or might not be in terrible disproportion to the fun gained. (but then AGAIN, perhaps -among the books uploaded by players- quite a bit of the lore could be accessible this way?)

...Do I have to ship my own characters? If not, I'd go with Essel x Green. Or Issek. Any meanie, really - the fact that they would be mean together to amuse themselves would from a certain perspective make them much more likeable. Neferet x Haruspex! If yes, eh... Baranova x Dromedar-brand smokes.
  19. Thank you so much! Needless to say, this is real nice to hear. Eh, the schools I studied make me an illustrator-slash-animator, but work in the field is scarce, the competition is huge and the pay is lousy (also, people often "forget" to pay me whatsoever), so I am ashamed to admit that I had to take up a "real job" to pay the rent. Then again, you thinking I do this for living is flattering as balls.
  20. I beg different. I think this is because most people like to imagine themselves as the heroes saving the situations, but I honestly doubt that if somebody shot the person beside you, your first "instict" would be to charge head on against the barrel of the gun. Seeing your friend die in horrible pains would, in all likelihood, painfully remind you of your own mortality and how little it takes for you to buy one at the moment, too. But it certainly doesn't make people listen to you, either - I imagine the stress would be too overwhelming for one to be even able to properly comprehend whatever the assaulter tries to explain to him.
  21. Generally, I think it would be nice to see more people sitting in a corner, paralyzed with fear, waving back and forth - tried to do this a few times, but some absurdly courageous characters always grab me and robust their way out with their free hand. Last occasion I remember, it was a wizzard round, and the wizzard -the sneaky bastard- focused on changing people into xenos. So there I was, sitting in my psych office, with a xeno in front of me, sliming all over the place and talking right into my head, while I tried to merge with the wall. Then again, I suppose that wasn't all that entertaining for the xeno... but I still think it's better than trying to inject him sleep toxins. On comletely unrelated note, did you know you can handcuff aliens? Especially with those talking ones, it could be bloody cool to take one in for "questioning" and have the researchers converse with him. Edit: An alien sitting in a shadow so dark I actually didn't notice him until he spoke and I looked for him, saying "I used to be Eric McArthur", is on my list as 2nd most creepy and/or brilliant thing I've seen on Aurora so far.
  22. Folders. I don't know about you guys, but I'm real tired of running around the station and stealing folders. Also, +1 for the black suit. I know everybody says that, and everybody is told that this isn't about fashion, but THE BLACK SUIT. We fight over it, even.
  23. +1 because Diona. Enough said.
  24. Imraj should see a shrink. Oh my, what a coincidence - I play a shrink! Please, stop by some day, we're gonna have lots of fun and you're going to get a teddy bear.
  25. Fair enough. In that case, I would highly recommend adding northern names to the list. I mean, Jostein. Just say it aloud. JOSTEIN!
