Woohoo! Scored nice round zero on Baranova! Thank God for those De-Suifiers, and for Baranova being a big, limping, chainsmoking and easily discouraged loser.

Bladerunner is an insult to Philip K. Dick's literary genius! However, I'll throw my bunch in. Dr. Strangelove - strangely overlooked movie, while at the same time some of its scenes remain known to this day in popular culture. Eh. Stanley Kubrick toys with the topic of nuclear war. Brilliant setting and execution - I mean, hell, it's Kubrick. What's especially noteworthy, all the characters are more of their stereotypes than real people and yet it isn't a comedy. You will fear the bomb. Finally, it's got Sellers in multiple roles. Waltz With Bashir - Ari Folman is a brilliant movie maker. In his younger years, he fought in Lebanon, and later on realized that he had lost all his memories of this time period. Being a filmmaker, he recorded his journey to gain them back - the result is highly awarded and like-nothing-other-I've-ever-seen animated document, dealing with horrors and absurdity of the war while exploring the dynamics of human memory. It's got this... Catch 22 feel. Day of the Wacko - Polish film. Especially for those who are tired of hollywoodian movies, I would highly recommend Polish and Russian production. Everything is different, from the intended impact on the viewer to camera angles and pacing and plot structure... ah, see it for yourself! The movie is basically one random day from the countless, stereotypical days of an older literature teacher. You know. The ordinary guy. His students are dumbshits, he's paid close to nothing, his ex-wife is a bitch, his son an imbecile disgrace - the man doesn't know what to do with his life. Why he ought to do anything at all, really. At this age, one doesn't have nothing but the regrets and ever-growing bitternes and self-pity. Anything by Martin McDonagh, ever

I wasn't aware there were numerous Andys around. Huh. The more you know! Not that I'm any smarter for it Anyhow, The Andy is brilliant character. I've told you this many times before, so I'll try different phrasing this time... he actually makes people who had got to know him compete for his favor. That alone says something.

That is a very nice portrait of Luna as far as the execution is concerned, but boy, it does make me want to weep. Then again, I imagine that was the aim, so bloody good job! (love the slippers)

I appreciate your support, and promise on my mother's life that nothing I ever create will in any way resemble male genitalia. Edit: The formic queen! Yay! It doesn't go with the lore, I think. -
Hmh... spent one summer at a factory, putting random shit together -you know, actually working with your hands. It was awful. Spent some more time working as a bartender at a freaking Western-city (not sure if that's a thing in America, but here, we like to pretend to be in America. Eh. If you do, though, I would highly recommend it: if it's a private-founded place, there are good chances it will have some wonderful atmosphere of people doing stuff because they LIKE to do it. No amount of pay can make up for that.). Currently employed as a night watch at the castle in my hometown. I AM THE MAN ON THE WALL, BECAUSE THE NIGHT IS DARK AND FULL OF TERRORS Also feel like I need to mention that I do commissions on the off time. Because I like to pretend that I still have a future in the line of work I studied and aspired for.

Rechkalov's Spriter Application

Thanks a lot, I'm flattered beyond words! That Dr. Smiley thingy was meant to be a device for the shrinks through which to keep tabs on the sort of patients who do not necessarily need to be put out of active duty, but could use to have somebody to talk to with them at all times. -
This... this sounds very, very familiar. But I feel like I have to point out that- indeed. One has to simply suck it up. Nobody else can give you a sense of self-worth, and even if they did, you would then be depending on them for the confirmation of your worth; which you would undoubtedly realize, and get right back on this track. You are your problem, and you alone have to deal with it. Besides, having somebody else 'rescue' you wouldn't do your sense of worth much good, would it? I mean, then you'd perceive yourself as so weak that you need others to fight even your doubts about yourself. And frankly, realizing that it was myself who was screwing me up in the head made it incredibly easier to cope with it. You simply stop doing it to yourself. I wish I knew how to put this into words better... at any rate, best of luck. While in one sense overcoming yourself as your worst enemy is incredibly easy, it is somehow at the same time the most absurdly difficult thing. Guess you could call it a matter of perspective. It's important to stop identifying with the 'hurt, fundamentally wrong and looked down upon' self, and in full consciousness recognize yourself -accept yourself- as the torturer and ultimate judge who keeps on condemning you. God I'm poor with words. I cannot stress how much I would -yet again- recommend the literature I mentioned earlier. While not dealing exclusively with this issue, there's some invaluable insight that I believe can help you, but which I don't understand that well as to be able to reproduce it with my own words.

Flavor Text and you. How to stop having sexy-buttcheeks
Rechkalov replied to Dea Tacita's topic in Guides & Tutorials
...with that being said, would anybody here happen to have any useful tips as to writing convincing accents? I mean, I find that extremely difficult (without resorting to the Hollywood Nacistic Communist villain sort of approach) - I don't think knowing the language as such really helps. (welp, I'm a slav, and I have no clue as to how do you write a slavic accent) I suppose there should be two main points- 1) How to make the accent convincing 2) -without making it annoying as an SSD baldie. I've heard somebody suggest to use 'v' instead of a 'w' for German accents - how about that? -
@avoidingkoyaanisquatsi ~@bigpharmason~ Your call-out for sympathy would imply pathological narcissism. It could also be arguably disrespectful, if there is somebody's demise involved. I would recommend De Mello's lectures on Awareness both for coping with grief and regaining/acquiring spiritual peace. Andrew Stockstill

Please cease putting "cute" as a descriptive in flavour text

I remember reading flavour text of somebody which mentioned a whole list of tattooes with brackets all over the place, explaining the levels of nakedness necessary to spot this or that one (that was before the convenient update). I mean, dat gurl BEGGED to be stripped naked. -
You sure got me there, mate - haven't felt that since the end of A Dance with Dragons. Thank you for sparing Dan. Also, your timing is perfect! I checked the forums for a new chapter like an hour ago, only to leave disappointed... an then BAM! There you were! Uh, my thoughts are really scattered right now. But I suppose I need not tell you what a fantastic job you're doing, right? This was really, really exciting chapter. Hope you'll have the following one done by the morning, 'cause I could really use it.

Staff complaint: Malfunction round 27DEC2014 ~0040 hrs
Rechkalov replied to Tainavaa's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Why exactly is that powergaming, in your opinion? That would be powergaming because it would be the use of your OOC knowledge of the round type as the basis for your action, where the action would serve no other purpouse than to be prepared for the coming antagonists. The Medbay doctors and CMOs don't, however, move the hardsuit depending on the gamemode. It's been a practice for as long as I can remember*, and is not directed against anything or anyone in particular - it's a precaution, such as locking the syringe gun in a locker which only medical staff can access. *I can see that 'we've always been doing this' doesn't necessarily make it right, but if you really had such a problem with this, you should have posted about it on the forums and address the Medbay as a whole - not take an action against Tainavaa alone. This has been going on for quite a while, never with so much as a word from the staff. Finally, the point many of you appear to be missing and which I find worth stressing; this does often provide for RP, as Taina pointed out. Of course there is a clear advantage to doing it. But it makes perfect sense from IC perspective for a CMO to want to have one of those things at hand. Finally, I think you're overlooking one very important aspect of all this; even if we admit that this can under certain light be perceived as powergaming, it doesn't do any damage to anybody. It doesn't even have the potential of ruining other people's game, quite the opposite. Unlike Science or Security, powergaming in Medbay will at worst result in people dying less - and that, in the presence of the cloning-thingamajig, seems to me a petty issue. Anyhow, if you really feel this is so badly detrimental to the roleplay and overall ruining the game, I say again; direct your objections towards the entirety of Medbay. Generally, it would be nice if you devoted a thread to creating the actual Aurora Regulations, because right now, it seems they come and go in and out of the play as you see fit. -
