  1. Stunbatons work on both vaurca and IPCs. Flashes work on both vaurca and IPCS. Pepperspray works on Vaurca. I'm not sure what you mean by ''none of the above can realiably defend him from standard encounters such as IPC or Vaurca'' when it's clearly wrong. A flash is not unreliable when it literally disables anyone not wearing eye protection which is the greater portion of the crew.
  2. I have no idea how you can consider IPC and Vaurca existing on board proper justification for a detective to carry lethal ballistics. As it's not even the most effective way to disable them. Both are brute resistant, one is completely immune to pain and shrapnel has way less effect on them. If you're in a scenario where you're ''incapable of running away'' which are very very rare scenarios, unless you intentionally get yourself in shitty positions, you are usually going to be in close quarters. Where a vaurca is more than happy to disarm you of your gun and blow your brains out with it or simply bite you to death. Lasers are way more effective against taking both out, even more effective is stungear, once again suggesting you rely on your officers more. Also a flash is unreliable? As someone who plays officer almost exclusively it's one of the most reliable tools in an officer arsenal, as a lot of people simply neglect to carry eye protection. Infact it's pretty much the first item you think of using when you're going through the thought process of ''okay, how do I down this guy the quickest.'' If we're going into a little indepth combat mechanics, you basically want to start with tools that can't be used against you if you get disarmed of it. A revolver very much can be used against you if you pull it out and lose it. And if you're in a situation where your opponent is not close enough to disarm it from you, you are in a position to run away. Were you to have rubbers this would be less of a risk, as the detective is armoured, and thus rubbers have less of an effect on him than his hopefully unarmoured opponent, which they should be, because if they are armoured, why are you talking to them alone? We are also not suggesting to ''deprive him of his means of self defense'' as you are stating. We are depriving him of his ammunition to put people in the ground, and instead giving him a proper self defense ammo which is rubbers.
  3. Once again, I'm not arguing for the removal of their revolver. I'm suggesting to remove their lethals on round start. Rubbers can still very much function as a self-defense weapon, without straight up ruining antagonists.
  4. Both vaurca and IPCs are far more easily subdued with a flash if they are not wearing eye protection. ignoring the fact that flashing a vaurca is unethical as fuck, but still less so than lethaling them with a revolver. And they should not be wearing eye protection if they are known to be hostile and subdued, once again live ammunition adding nothing to this scenario. Corporate espionage is a fair point for why a detective would be onboard.
  5. Except it's not. It's not a reasonable ammunition/tool to have for a detective. We aren't supposed to expect severe hostilities or antagonists, this is part why armoury slugs were removed. Because we are not supposed to expect having to put somebody in the ground for good. A station of this size and purpose having a detective and CSI to begin with is dubious at it's best. But I'm not arguing for the removal of their roles. I'm arguing to remove the live ammunition from the detective's revolver. Starting with code blue ammunition on round start is simply not realistic, if you want to argue HRP.
  6. Firing a rubber still very much has consequence, as we've stated. Officers very rarely use their .45 rubbers to make simple arrests because they will get a tonne of flak for it if they do. Sure it has less of a consequence than firing a lethal weapon but the detective simply does not need to have this consequence in the first place. As you've said they're an investigative role, they should not be in a position to have to use lethal weaponry in the first place. Should officers be given lethal .45 too? To use in an emergency situation? This would be a terrible idea and give antagonists even less leeway. You are also completely misreading my suggestion. I am not suggesting to take the gun away, I'm suggesting they have rubbers on round start instead. If an emergency situation is present they can still very much acquire lethal rounds for it.
  7. Shooting someone down with rubbers still has decent consequence as you will need to get your ammo replaced and you will still have fired a potentially lethal weapon. Except now you won't have straight up merked the antagonist with shrapnel and internal bleeding. The job of a detective is investigative, they should be questioning and interrogating subjects, live ammunition simply does nothing to add to this role. Live ammunition is useful in one case and that is putting down targets via shrapnel, usually targets that are armed and armoured themselves. The detective should NOT be coming in contact with these alone. If they are interrogating a confirmed hostile they should be doing such with officers nearby, preferably in the interrogation room in the brig. In this scenario they do not need live ammunition, as an officer is nearby to protect them. The other scenario is where they are simply taking statements from crew members near a crime scene, if in this case an unarmoured person decides to have a go at the detective rubber bullets will drop them near just as quickly as live ammunition will via pain crit, except now it just won't straight up kill them.
  8. And replace them with rubbers instead on round start. The detective having lethals does nothing but encourage LRP validhunting behaviour where a single lucky hit with shrapnel can completely ruin an antagonist. Officers do not spawn with lethals, why should a detective? It's purpose is as a self defense weapon, it being loaded with rubbers would still mean it has this capability. All the detective mains can line up or dogpile, I'm ready.
  9. This is a very, very barebones application. I'd really urge you to expand on your answers, as currently your character's biography is 4 lines, which is barely anything. I'm not going to -1 as I do enjoy some of your characters, and I think your OOC attitude is pretty good. But the app seriously needs some more things written, don't be afraid to expand on things. Part of a command application is showing that you're capable of creating a character that is suited for command. Simply tell us more about Lilly, who made her? How did they treat her? How did the company she worked for go bankrupt? How did that affect Lilly? Why is she suited to be an RD when her main experience is working in a prosthetic shop? Just tell us more.
  10. I also dislike having to do this, as I have no issue or dislike for you, Amory. But it is also a -1 from me. I have to agree with what has been already been said, namely by two others, Ornias and Driecg, is that you, Amory, have a mild tendency to get a tad bit too heated and invested over issues that you feel affect you personally. Which is not necessarily a bad trait if you have to stand up for yourself, but in this case it is one when you're expected to be at least decently cordial as a moderator to people, and attempt to remain impartial at all times. While I think that you would make it through the trial period, I feel that down the line you'd get too stressed out and eventually snap, becoming a tad bit too frustrated. My main question to you is: Are you sure you even want to be a moderator? I'd argue contributing to the community by simply enjoying the game in a relaxed and proper manner is more than enough. Do you really want the extra workload that is being a moderator?
  11. You have yet to explain why you felt it was needed to get suspended on all other shifts, as that is still blatantly being a self-antagonist. You think it is stupid when people call your character out on making remarks inappropriate for an at work communications channel, and then instead think it is wise to make a ''joke'' about raping Tajara? How could that ever be justified as ''oh yeah this is the most realistic thing my character can do at present.'' Do you still believe you were suspended solely for your records? Why was refusing to disarm fully a realistic thing to do in that scenario? Why was pepper-spraying the officers that were ordered to detain you a realistic thing to do in that scenario? I can understand frustration, both for characters and OOC'ly. But for the love of God you're playing a 25 year old security officer on a top tier research station who has most likely gone through at least the most basic of training to not lose their shit at the slightest provocation. Yet still Fawkes seems to do exactly that, lose his shit at the most minor things and then escalate them to a suspension. You are supposed to be playing an adult, not a kid that can throw tantrums on a whim. An adult that is supposed to at least show some care over keeping their job. If Fawkes is shown to be this incapable of keeping their shit together in such a short time, how did he even make it to the age of 25 without being in jail multiple times? How did he even get hired in the first place? Can you understand why I think your character is just incredibly unrealistic?
  12. You felt it was needed to get your character repeatedly suspended on multiple shifts? Do elaborate. You were not arrested for your records. You made a unwanted sexual remark to the warden of that shift, the head of security then told you to mop the brig while I looked at your records. Seeing as your records already showed an incident of sexual harassment and even a murder charge the head of security then decided to suspend you, not arrest you, as you were obviously a liability. Resulting this you refused to disarm and instead went hostile against your security team, your failure to follow orders here and your following aggression caused you to be arrested, not your records. ''Not playing Fawkes in security anymore (for the moment)'' For the moment? Fawkes would never be hired or accepted as a security member again. He has vastly too many charges, why would a liability like him be hired again? Behaviour like this does not just warrant IC repercussions in my opinion, it warrants a security job ban. Simply deleting the character and starting a new one does not ensure for me that the new character doesn't bring new issues with them, as you've already shown to create a character with too many issues which deem them unbelievable.
  13. Yahir Jones I did say I'd +1 you if you listed him, so here I am. At first I have to say I did not particularly enjoy interacting with the good ol' Yahir. He was way too memey and in the brig more often than not, probably influenced by you playing him as an antagonist a lot, a lot. But since then I'd say you've come a long way mate. I can't really remember disliking any interactions I've had with your characters in recent times, finding them mostly enjoyable. And heck, you're being modest for show, rating yourself at a 7/10 for RP. I'm also really liking your answers to what are OOC purpose and responsibilities of heads of staff, and what you think role-play is about. You're saying it's a cooperative game and that nobody is really out there to win, this definitely shows in your play. You're generally always finding gimmicks as an antag to involve a lot of people and to provide them a fun experience, instead of simply murderboning. I've seen you salt a few times but not any more than any other, and shit, happens to the best of us. You generally always admit you're salting and you don't go about starting shitfests in looc/ooc/dsay so that's a good trait. So, yea, I think you're more than capable of having a head whitelist. +1.
  14. You are bringing it up full of lies. Nothing about the fact that you used that ONLY-LETHAL laser rifle on me, I had no lethals while you were inside a reinforced voidsuit. If you are going to ''bring something up'', at least, do't lie. Yeah, it comes from a moment of the round, this happened while I was drunk (A TALKATIVE CAT made me go drunk with a spell or something like that), and then an IPC Wizard just did a spell that created a fireball that nearly killed a Diona. Hope you understand the reaction now. You are essentially admitting to wanting to self-antag as a goal. ''Heavily wanting a suspension'' is not a realistic character goal, and from an OOC standpoint it is willingly self-antagging. I'll quote the following three server rules. Paris Fawkes is not a believable character, picking fights he should not. Getting suspended near each and every shift as you have said is ''what you want.'' Paris Fawkes is already charged with (attempted? Sytic elaborate pls) murder, and would thus no longer be hired or even be allowed on station. You are not exactly finding ''subtle ways'' to act out your criminality either, going loud and full shooty against your fellow officers at the slightest provocation. The conflict I've experienced with you is not believable. Refusing to disarm completely when ordered to by your head of security and then pepper spraying the officers detaining you is not realistic or sane behaviour. Again, as Amory has said spam disarming someone in a hazard suit with a lethal weapon is once again not realistic behaviour. You are also breaching this rule by using some Atlas/History of assaulting fellow officers backstory to constantly be a major pain and attack your fellow officers when they once again have to suspend you. I am not complaining about something that has already been dealt with when my most recent issue with you was just yesterday. I have not seen something change in this short span of time. And lastly, I simply have not enjoyed any of my interactions with your character, as other people have stated as well. Playing an asshat can be done in a tasteful manner that makes me OOC'ly go ''Hey this is a pretty cheeky shit, interesting.'' You are instead simply finding excuses to go greytide.
  15. BYOND Key: Worthy Game ID: Multiple rounds, I do not have the ID. It is recurring behaviour. Player Byond Key: KieranWise Staff involved: SebKillerDK Reason for complaint: The player in question has shown repeated displays of unrealistic and near low RP behaviour that does not conform to our standards. The character has a habit of being suspended in near every shift I've witnessed of them so far, and to make matters worse they often decide to go full hostile against any security team and head of security that suspends them. Despite them being ''handled'' IC'ly most of the time, I do not deem this an IC issue, as the character in question is too unrealistic, and becomes a self antagonist more often than they should. Here's Paris Fawkes' security record. A character like this would no longer be allowed on station. The ''Atlas member'' and ''multiple cases of assault against fellow officers' were put in very recently by the player. As these were not listed in the most recent round I have had with them. Having heard that more people have found issues with this character, I hence decided to make this complaint, and encourage other people to post their gripes. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? I have, I was not asked for my side of the story while doing so, nor informed of any actions taken. Although I later heard they were ''spoken to.'' Approximate Date/Time: It is recurring behaviour.
  16. Name: Altai Al-Azir Species: M'sai Tajara Age: 23 Date of Hire: 15-12-2459 Job Title: Security Officer Preferred Contact Info: PDA 17-4452-79425
  17. Hello, I played the security officer Alexia Quinn this particular shift and was quite involved with the incredible amount of greytide shittery of this round. I'll preface this by saying a lot of things that should have been ahelped weren't because we were running under the assumption that we were dealing with antagonists which, unfortunately, wasn't the case a lot of the time. Moving on to this particular case of the cadet. Throughout the round they showed less than stellar RP and comfort with game mechanics, hence why I initially assumed they were just very new and inexperienced. It started with the cadet supposedly getting their teeth kicked in at the holodeck, which was at the start of the round. This was all fine and dandy as we arrested the one we thought was responsible, until the cadet decided to self antag a bit and attack the arrested one in the brig, getting themselves brigged. I thought this was acceptable, because albeit poorly roleplayed it still made sense to a degree for a disgruntled cadet to seek some sort of retribution against a person who fractured their skull. Hence why I decided to give the cadet the benefit of the doubt and offered to teach him basic CQC, as I normally do with cadets, so he could properly defend himself against belligerent bartenders next time. Things got kind of odd when he decided he wants to ''kill the bartender'' which I decided to just shrug off as the player blowing off steam. It got even moreso odd that when I was ''explaining'' grappling to him, and allowed him to red grab me to get a sense of it, he decided to proceed to choke me out with decent effectiveness, to the point where I ashamedly had to yelp for help, as I was quite nearing possibly dying right there. I suppose I was far too trusting, but I digress. The excuse for him choking me out was that he simply did not know how to drop the grab. Which I found decently hard to believe as I explained it to him in LOOC, and as he only ceased choking me once I called for backup. He later remarked in quite creepy fashion that it was ''killer instinct'' which is where I just assumed the cadet was an antag, albeit a poor one. As the cadet clearly was mentally unstable from an IC perspective, we had him sent in to get fully examined by medical, both physically and mentally, after which he was to be arrested and demoted for threat of murder on the bartender. During his arrest, which I carried out, he pulled the lovely card of ''I'll kill myself'' which added to his charges. After he was processed he spent a good time with the psychiatrist, was released, then plopped outside of the brig to do whatever a suspended cadet does, which is, sneak back inside the brig via the use of a beepsky key, walk into our armoury which was open to deal with a spider threat, arm himself in riot gear and decide to spray and pray at our HoS. He SSD'ed shortly after being quickly captured. I wasn't particularly involved in what he did after, but we cryo'd him in the brig, he woke up, we released him. He decided to pull some shit again, and ended himself in a cell once more, which he SSD'ed in. As Schev has said, his self antagonism made less and less sense throughout the course of the round, and was just a major pain to deal with. They also did not show any particular good RP, as his sentences were more ''chatspeak'' so to say than coherent sentences an actual person would make. That's mainly it for my testimony, which I felt obligated to share as I was mentioned in the original post.
  18. As said earlier, I'm quite surprised Doc hasn't got a command whitelist already. Having had plenty of interactions with both Halogen and Lily Kadel I can say she's more than capable of a roleplayer. Her characters are realistic, well acted out, and fun to play with. And I don't doubt she'd be able to create excellent command characters as well. As for the OOC side of things, I've never particularly seen you salt, or be excessively frustrated by the game, I'm sure that aids you in your modding business, and will be a good trait to have as a command member. Moving onto the application itself, it's fairly white bread. It covers the points I'd like to see, and isn't particularly spicy. Which is generally expected from a whitelist application, as it is the safe way to go. I'd argue at this point the application itself is more of a formality for you but I digress. Yes, I support this application. +1
  19. Part of me doesn't want this application to go through because Abo will then pour even more time into the server. I'm also biased since one of my characters is featured in one of his stories. Memes aside, Abo is very dedicated to the server, and he would no doubt be a good asset to the lore team. He's capable of writing decent pieces of lore/stories quite quickly from what I've seen. I'm sure he'd be able to properly and consistently add to the human lore. Another valuable trait is the ability to quickly read through pieces and provide useful feedback on them, a trait which he has. So yes, I'd seriously consider them for the position. (I also want Elyra to be more developed already damn it)
  20. It's already been mentioned, but I'll have to repeat it. Your attitude is sometimes pretty ehhhhh, most of the times you say shit I can agree with, but just bring it in such a tactless manner which makes you appear really abrasive sometimes. It has gotten better, however, and I don't think it'll be too much of an issue, especially if you're continuing to improve on your OOC conduct. Mild bashing aside, I like your characters, you take RP seriously and your characters are realistic because of it, which is an important trait to have when being a head whitelistee. Because of this seriousness I think you'll be more than capable of being any head of staff, not just an IAA agent. So yes, I'll throw in my support here, I don't think you'll be a bad addition to the pool of command members. +1.
  21. Local frog boi finally decides to apply for a lizard. 1/10. Jokes aside, I know all of your characters listed and I enjoy playing with every single one of them. You're a capable roleplayer that would undoubtedly be capable of accurately portraying an Unathi so I see no reason not to support this application. +1 from me.
  22. Yes, I gave you a -1 based on a single communication because that is exactly what you will be doing as a mod most of the time. Having ''single communications'' with players that either have ahelped or people you need to bwoink. You'd argue that mods want to have atleast a semblance of professionality in these moments, and not offend whoever they're talking to. You might not have intended to be openly hostile but intentions aren't everything, the way people perceive you matters too, if not more. Further, instead of going ''Hey, sorry, I meant that as a joke, not to be hostile'' you decided to just deny me taking issue and stating you don't see the issue. Which, frankly, is beyond me. Calling people you're not buddy buddy with dumbfucks is just incredibly rude. Onto the point of ending the response to my criticism on a ''jokey note'' You're right, you didn't come over as hostile and demeaning, you instead came over as demeaning and not taking my criticism seriously because of it. Having somebody who tends to come over as hostile and demeaning without realizing it as a mod is debatable at best.
  23. This is going to be a big no from me based on a recent and my only interaction with you. You decided to sporadically call me a ''dumbfuck'' in dsay for no apparent reason, then defending yourself with ''I call everybody a dumbfuck, I don't see the issue rofl'' Perhaps it was the post round salt speaking in you, but regardless, being a mod requires a certain level of maturity, something you, despite being 42, seem to severely lack. While I am not usually quick to judge based on a single interaction, first impressions do matter especially so as a mod. And you simply haven't made a good one. It's a -1 from me.
  24. BYOND Key: Worthy Character Names: Farah Malik, Aella Quinn, Lia Otis, Lily Hawkins, Stella Alice, Echelon, Zia Al-Andalusi, Victoria Kensington, Yvaine MacCallion. Species you are applying to play: Tajara. What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): White. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've been wanting to expand my character list beyond human-female only and figured tajara was a good place to start. I like how extensive the tajara lore is with the war waging on Adhomai, along with the multiple ethnicities. I think it's quite well done. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: There's a plethora of mechanical differences one has to take note of when playing a tajara, this includes, but is not limited to: Having claws, thus potentially being more lethal in hand to hand combat, Seeing better in the dark than humans, having to take care not to get too warm and to make sure they're wearing suits designed for them. More interestingly are the lowkey non-mechanical aspects of roleplaying a tajara. Different types of emotes to display their current moods, expressions that are uncommon or don't exist at all amongst humans but are key to social interaction between tajara. With the tajara historically being a repressive, conservative species I'd also imagine them to be more naturally reserved socially, even moreso when speaking to another species entirely. Character Name: Altai Al-Azir Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Altai Al-Azir was born to a M'sai bloodline in a modest family living under the regime of the People's Republic. Growing up in a relatively stable family that was happily, but barely, getting by, Altai was naturally free-spirited and curious, always seeking to push the boundaries of what he could and could not do in a near autocratic state. Realizing that this attitude could potentially lead to endanger his family, he joined the Grand People's Army at the age of 16, seeking to support his kin financially, and to also satisfy his own restlessness. In the Army Altai found the camaraderie and athletic activity he was looking for. Enjoying the rigorous training and the clarity that came with only having to serve. Yet despite all this he constantly found himself wondering if this was all there is to it, that this would be his life, and nothing more. With the eventual youthful teenage enthusiasm fading, inevitably getting replaced by more and more scepticism as he grew into his twenties, Altai began to question whether or not he was on the right side. With the severe lack of privacy and the government keeping a close eye on all of it's citizens, along with rumours of simple and brutally efficient executions of any suspected traitors, Altai found himself becoming disillusioned with the People's Republic, finding ideas of a free democratic state, that isn't heavily supervised increasingly more appealing. Realizing that these thoughts made him a liability to his family, Altai found himself torn between the two choices of continuing to live life in mediocrity and keep his family safe, or defecting and supporting the ideals closer to his heart. Unable to decide, and not wanting to endanger his family any further, he instead chose to run. Learning Tau-Ceti basic as quickly as he could from a class, and taking the first job offer he found as a Security Officer aboard the NSS Aurora. What do you like about this character? I quite like the dilemma I've constructed for him. His heart telling him to defect and support ideals he deems right, but his mind realizing that this would endanger his family tremendously. Staying on Adhomai would only continue this nagging sensation for him, thus causing him to leave, with some regrets. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 6.5/10, I like to think I've improved a bit since my last rating of 6/10. Notes:
  25. I am agreeing with Matt here, I've seen Mika throw hissy fits that seem to be driven by OOC frustration simply because they aren't sensible from an IC perspective. An IPC becoming ''frustrated'' is a peculiar thing to begin with. While they might emulate human behaviour they are still droids that in the end don't feel any emotion or stress, and shouldn't be influenced by them. I'm also not particularly impressed by your medical roleplay, which is a fundamental part of being a CMO. I've been cloned by you as Mika where my post cloning talk was a single line stating ''You were cloned, you are alive'' before she ran off to do something else. If Mika is supposedly a certified psychiatrist ontop of being a medical doctor this is absolutely not how you should be handling a patient that might walk out and off themselves shortly after being cloned. You also contradict yourself with stating that roleplay is about ''being something you could not be in real life'' then you state in a later reply that Jaeger is essentially your self insert. I am not a fan of self inserts in a whole as these players often have trouble seperating IC from OOC. It is definitely a -1 from me until you improve your roleplay.
