1. I adore playing Vaurca not only for the fact that no one knows how to handle me,usually causing me great harm in the process,I also enjoy the hivenet, the fact that I don't need a spacesuit,I like needing phoron,a very valuable recource,to breathe,a need even deeper than eating,i enjoy the look of them,I enjoy the ability to talk in a way that is difficult for others to understand, usually resulting in complicated sentences that say very little in the process What I dislike about the current lore is the massive focus on the unbound, while all the unbound stuff is okay I am kinda just looking at the Bound as a tiny little footnote on every article I'm impartial about the varying hives and their interconnection,I do however like the K'lax non K'lax dynamic Never been interested into the warrior aspect of the hive,I see Vaurca as,if you allow, Workers, that's why I call them Vaurca, their name ain't Vaurriors so the entire "big buff huge body for my Unbound to strut around and wax menacingly as he throws himself into combat knowing his conciousness can be recovered from the mangled carcass so long as the head is intact" really rubs me not at all I really appreciate the naive dedication of the Bound and like that dynamic between players, especially when you have a very selfish unbound I'd like for Vaurca to be capable of pulling things faster than other races, which is a weird fucking thing to mention to a loredev... lorechangeswise,I want more illegal underground K'oisfarms that inevitably have sporebursts resulting in a crackdown and mass starvation leading to Vaurca gangfights over K'ois at great expense of Bound lives and so forth make K'ois this hugely expensive recource even though it's piss easy to grow and harvest maybe add some subversive elements who harvest K'ois, then seperate off the Phoron and just sell the K'ois paste,so it tastes different, but it's filling to the buggos and nourishing, but they will soon suffocate and they don't know why,the Bound won't even tell their superiors because they don't notice the K'oispaste tastes different or that their tanks are low until it is too late meanwhile thousands of Vaurca die of suffocation while that food manufacturer gets rich off of selling both K'ois and pure Phoron
2. Now I am torn Because you are speaking strictly about gameplay implications and how much it would suck as a player to get caught out and chased but as a roleplayer I think getting caught out should be an option I feel like if my character was caught out, them dying, even though they had armor specifically to avoid that, wouldn't put a wrench in my soup it all depends on how much you want a cohesive story over gameplay if you are the captain and you were jumped by some ahole with a plasma lance, running around a bend and putting on your combat armour and it not working instantly puts a great dilemma here from a story standpoint the antag player managed to surprise the captain and has the upper hand, the captain wasn't prepared for this and technically he should be able to gain access to whatever he wants from the cap from a gameplay standpoint the captain managed to escape and should get a fighting chance to robust the antag and literally save the entire station Captain's ID is strong yo
3. I always just assumed gangfights were common in Vaurca society Every unbound has the right to claim bound and the only limit is how much the other unbound will hate you for it Bound are treated like recources,if you could even call it that first off that makes me wish there were a whole lot more vaurca players so I could get caught up in this as a Bound player...but alas Second off I like this dynamic Wasn't there recently a news article about the K'ois blockade and the millions of bound dying on Biesel? I could be talking out of my ass of course, but this would definitly lend validity to this idea This These have been my two cents as a player

Redescribing Food

Kaed might be a Goonstation thing In essence when you make a pill that contains more than one ingredient it gives you a popup window asking what the pill should be labeled You know,as if the hand labeler was used only without the conmplicated immersionbreaking steps
5. Cyanide is already in the game,I'd know I play Botany as one of my mains
6. Diggey

Redescribing Food

Isn't that an option in the chemmasters? just plop that onto the oven when you pull out a dish and we'd be golden
7. Oh cool I didn't know that
8. Oh god this has put a hillarious image in my head of someone just slipping in and out of armor during a firefight
9. Your arguement is that it is already too difficult to AI properly so why not as well give up on beeing an AI and abuse current AI players? That makes no sense
10. This actually seems like an in character issue as the Station channel isn't supposed to be used for that as it is because of the reasons you mentioned later The Station Channel should be used for Announcments, requests for help and pretty much nothing else I can think of At least I treat it that way whenever I play This seems like a massive issue if people are chattering about their days when there is also someone screaming about beeing sucked out into space like,IC I would make an incident report :'D I use the PDA extensively for requests that do not need immediate help so do many of my colleagues I admit to never having used the intercom I agree no one reads the request consoles and it is kinda annoying when you walk into cargo and you see a red exclamation point violently flashing at the back of the wall while the QM sits in his chair spinning around yelling over the common channel that no one is ordering anything and he doesn't want to call the shuttle for just 4 orders I think AI already has their hands full, but I do use them with the departmental channels to ask for information about the station,I don't however agree with the use of Holopads,I think Holopads should only be used in emergencies as requesting the AIs presence rips them away from observing the station using cameras and is thereby actively reducing the productivity of the station What is the IRC program? Jokes aside yeah but not everyone can afford a personal laptop Agree I think the means to achieve the use of other venues should not be achieved mechanically by removing a venue,it should simply be advocated to use other venues by threat of security action if you are talking about your flower collection and your time in the war on the common channel a Head of Staff should send you a PDA message to keep things you tell everyone on the station relevant They could do that on literally any venue of communication what is your point? Well if you are stupid enough to use the fucking common channel where everyone can hear you to emulate a voice especially WHILE THE PERSON YOU ARE MIMICKING IS STILL ALIVE You use the voice changer after you killed the captain and are wearing his big boy pants to fake beeing him,not to make funny jokes at the expense of the chemist's credibility You seem to be utterly oblivious to the fact that you can set the frequency of your headset manually like 300% oblivious removing the common channel would leave this funcionality and allow for the making of a private or common channel if announced,up to this point I thought you were aware of this but now I am worried your entire rationale is built upon lack of knowledge about game mechanics
11. Jokes aside the multi Z-level visibility is cool enough but currently the best we have for having a walkable surface you can look through is metal rods I suggest simply making glass a viable bridge material from a game balance standpoint you can make the arguement that mining would have an easier job procuring sand to make glass bridges, but mining also has an easy time getting steel from cargo or from smelting, so I don't really think that will be an early game gamebreaking issue...especially because it would make for shitty roleplay to just go out there and lay glass tiles to get that sweet juicy out of reach phoron Glass floors could be a good stepping stone for a couple of security ramps, such as having xenobiology or virology holding cells be one Z-level below the main level so there is less risk of breakouts or contamination while still allowing for visibility of the cell, could also be cool for the brig or other observation platforms basically it would make the station cooler while giving minimal advantages mechanically I still do however think it wouldn't be a bad addition to be able to make glass see through floors even without rebuilding and restructuring the entire station just adding glass floors as an option would be grand enough for a first step
12. but all the offices look like broom closets and the captain basically owns all of them he is the broom lord
13. Maybe make a Service sector HoS that also requires a Forum application Not necessarily force them to be the other commands personal slave, but more responsible for managing the Service staff make sure the janitors actually pick up the single cigarette butts left behind by literally everyone make sure the Botanist isn't growing too much harmful plants they got from Cargo without their approval make sure the Chef is not just making steaks while half the crew is skrell make sure the Barman isn't shooting people with his shotgun and forcefeeding Tajaran beer
14. Why tho? I just spectated last round and the captain has a fox behind curtains Do you have a fox behind curtains?
15. BYOND Key: Diggey Mineson Character Names: Han Song | Ka'Viax' Tlili K'lax | Keira Pfeifer| Ka'Akaix'Theth K'lax | Marlowe Philips Species you are applying to play: Integrated Positronic Chassis What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Well technically I already have a first character, but since this is an IPC I guess it is moot either way Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yep and it still refers to Phoron as Plasma at one point so you know i done did read it Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I am already a passionate Vaurca player and I thoroughly enjoy playing stationbound AIs on other Stations Furthermore a IPC is actually capable of more free thought than a Vaurca worker which I personally find rather entertaining,I would absolutely love, love, love to roleplay a very specific mindset and apply it to a wide variety of scenarios Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Well,if we are talking a multi billion credit Shell there is no difference...besides the fact I don't breathe air; I actually use air to stop myself from beeing set on fire by myself...or rather...Okay so beeing an IPC has gameplay consequences, but besides that, an IPC that is just your average run of the mill person, with rights and ambitions, yet still they are usually made by someone,so they have flaws in their thinking - or rather advantages - who knows? You can't sway a robot with emotions, maybe you can...depends on who made the blooming thing, but maybe they will keep a cool head in a sticky situation by acting objectively; maybe they will doom somone by falling victim to a logical error in their setup it's all very engaging to me They do not fall victim to things others might fall victim to such as inebriation or beeing injected with mercury, but in turn they might still act it out if programmed accordingly oh...maybe not programmed sometimes, just merely designed, depends on who made the thing Character Name: X-Avier Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs X-avier was an integrated positronic chassis designed on Biesel by a Nanotrasen Sales Executive. Said executive was a hobbyist with much too much money and time on their hands,as such his work was maybe less than stellar but well funded. As such the X-avier project came to fruition inside of this childless excentric's personal garage The Goal of the Project was to build an intelligence capable of performing independant thought and to be able to create and conceive new ideas,as well as set values to and judge old ideas,in essence the least original idea for making an AI ever,a philosophy bot. X-avier was mediocrely constructed, yet he was constructed with prime parts, his positronic brain for example was a couple of grades above what this task would even need of him. Due to the shoddy craftsmanship of his designer this was of course a great failure,as though X-avier was capable of performing his duty of wandering around aimlessly and waxing philosophically he often came up with nonsense and logical fallacies, accepting and verifying them on his own and saving them as good and usefull in his databanks; Incapable of accepting his own failure the Sales Executive merely discarded his pet project on a dump and began anew on a different construction, that IPC was (of course) a failure too but this is not the character this story is about After 5 years of inactivity X-Avier was reactivated after almost beeing trashed in a trash compactor after somone found him inside and thought they might be able to strip him for parts, now free to go his own way he is once again able to wax philosophically and apply his own logical fallacies to day to day situations What do you like about this character? I want to play a Guru character I just really enjoy a character that is pseudo philosophical and bends over backwards to accomplish something meaningless because it has meaning to them for no good reason I also want this character to attempt to help other people change their mindsets to something X-Avier deems to be good especially if it's technically speaking wrong simply to entertain the players around me,because that's a big part I wanna accomplish, making every round a unique experience and deeply enjoyable for the playerbase How would you rate your role-playing ability? I previously said 7 now I'm aiming for a solid 6.5 because on occasion I screw up,but I assure you I am a good character actor and no two of my characters are exactly alike Notes: I am planning to play other IPC characters such as an overly-concerned-with-customer-statisfaction medibot or a slightly dim mining bot but I am putting forward the most risky concept first to make sure I got the Loremasters support in that my concept of the race is not entirely false
16. Hey there, always need more Dionae on the Station, and seeing a Diona bumble around with things I personally bumble around with OOC would be swell
17. from a game balance standpoint I do agree the chaplain should at least be immune to mind powers
18. Actually all aliens but Tajaran are heavily underrepresented a few Unathi here and there
19. Actually an admin just happened to watch at the time :'D he laughed in looc it's cool tho we all laughed
20. Um,I feel obligated to chime in here,in most rounds there is Vaurca sympathizers sure there is the odd person who will insult me IC and tell me they adore my character OOC but I consitently find people treating Vaurca so well in fact that they are willing to buy them K'oisbars if asked that's like 115 credits you spend on a creepy bug man it's the absolute inverse in my personal experience as for people of importance, the QM regularly treats buggos nice, the chief engineer will be moved on occassion to move a phoron tank to engineering lobby for gas tank refills and friendly slaps on the back, the CMO is willing to buy K'oisbars from his personal funds as is the medical staff That's like half the heads on station on a regular basis I play Vaurca so I make this assertion it might not be true but it is what I perceive my experience as --- also I have come into contact with Cyborgs Cyborgs who are programmed to be unbiased, who treat Vaurca in the legal sense equally as any other person Cyborgs who were not security cyborgs Flash my Vaurca characters for fun
21. Hey there,Diggey here! I've applied for a Vaurca whitelist on day one I was playing on the Server and I have been playing mostly Vaurca ever since,I love the buggos and it is really a struggle to find fellow Vaurca to play with, the race isn't entirely saturated in my timezone and the most i have had was 3 Vaurca at the same time As such I am of course slightly afraid about any lore changes that might make Vaurca less desirable to apply for such as a glaxyspanning war where half the station will kick you when you are down I already rely on charity because they don't actually pay me enough to afford a k'oisbar and I truly fear what impacts this rough lore could have on the community outlook on bugboys I do however look on expanding the lore on the Bound,as I prefer bound,do with warriors as you please they do not interest me The bound are always just a mere footnote in the lore wikipage and I really don't know how to behave at times, this has even lead to a CCIA interview (which luckily went well) So yeah this is a players 2 cents on the issue
22. I know you are a great player,but I think this is a little too silly? you don't get a minus just a +0
23. So you are suggesting... that in order to become a Nanotrasen employee you have to have... a cursory understanding of spaceship construction heavy machine operation chemistry material sciences a branch of chemistry virology first aid (this one might be legit) you have to have at least basic knowledge of how to accurately operate a spacesuit be able to use Space Dos be able to grow plants professionally and understand a plants needs (which many botanists I see play don't even have :'D) have a cursory knowledge of CQC be trained with firearms be educated about the elaborate physics of atmospherics in general be capable of destructively analysing and designing complex machinery All to be allowed to get the janitor job over that one other guy who unfortunatly didn't quite get that physics degree over the course of his 23 year life
24. I would certainly pick some my characters wouldn't be able to do certain things and if forced to do them there should be consequences I don't work on a benefit basis, even in D&D I regularly make suboptimal characters it's fun what's with the need for powergaming?
