I modified ninja probability to 1, let's see what happens. If that doesn't fix it, I'll :ree:vert the PR and we'll see if that fixes it. Unfortunately, it appears that the gamemode selection code is an arcane black box. Any diddling, as our brave lizard coderman tried to do, appears to result in non-sensical and unfortunate side-effects.

I was gonna make a long post about this, but you already covered this yourself. Why would someone with a low investment contribute something meaningful to the round? Or more specifically, what stops them from running amok, as they already do sometimes with mice/rats.

In my holy onion. Something like cold is nice to have. Maybe not the exact colour as it was, but, y'know. It's nice. Making warm default is a good idea, tho.

There's a system in place to remedy this. We are introducing ethnicities.

Someone remind me this weekend to test merge the present state of these changes. Preferably on Saturday morning EU time.

It can be easy to determine if the dev communicates the change. Rewording something isnt a retcon or reboot. My point continues down. A retcon is easy to determine. A reboot can be floated around to players of that faction and the loremaster to see if there is any consensus. Just as a point about discourse. Asserting that something is easy to do (as you did) is not the same as proving or demonstrating that something is easy to do (which is what Coalf implicitly asked). Ultimately, Coalf's point is that retroactive continuity is a pretty common tool that we use, sometimes with no tangible or very small visible effect. Other times, larger things get modified. The question is, where does the line go and who determines where it goes. As further comment. This isn't necessarily tied to this point. This is a cultural issue lore has had for a long time. Every single developer wants to do Their Own Thing:tm:, and there is usually very little logical continuity between what one dev does, and what the next one does. Doesn't necessarily have to be retcons involved, sometimes it's just the new developer silently burying (discontinuing) the pursuits of their forebears and picking up their own initiatives with heightened rigor. Which is how, for example, we went from chill trees to macabre and edgy trees to whatever they are now -- no direct or major retcons involved. Ultimately the latter point brings up a good meme I've held onto for a bit, and semi-regularly aired on #lore: wiki peer reviews. Devs would be required to review the work of their colleagues, and to evaluate it both on a technical level, as well as a conceptual level. This should provide better consistency, since the final form of any given idea is up for review when it's about to be implemented, though at the price of perhaps a slightly slowed down chain of processing.

Forktress cries to head devs for help
Skull132 replied to Forktress's topic in Unban Requests Archive
@Forktress @EvilBrage Fixed it for the time being. -
Interesting. I lifted this mirror. You'll need to get a new IP (or stop using a VPN) to not get re-banned, however.

stop sweeping maintenance the second the round starts
Skull132 replied to Butterrobber202's topic in General
As a point of perspective. On old Goon, it was clearly job bannable if you went maintenance prowling as sec at round start without a valid in round reason. It was considered bad form for sec to immediately begin hunting/looking for antags. I will also note that if this behavior is known, then it can be avoided. -
Dismiss the ruling that roboticists cannot do RND
Skull132 replied to Scheveningen's topic in Rejected Policy
I might be missing most of the thread, because fuck reading that at 9 in the morning. But this is already the case? Just with glass, steel, and polyacid (of which you have an infinite supply), you can get pretty good levels. -
Blue is excessively over used in our setup though, as far as departmental recognition goes.
-
Ban lifted. Though in the future, don't try to ban dodge. We can see the failed attempts and your other key.

This is a neat pick. Anyways, I cannot claim such reason behind my actions, I moreso threw the statement in there to clearly denote the fact that the topic in question should be offered no more valid input on (per my earlier statement about it getting hostile while, at the same time, being a hypothetical that won't affect our server in any way). You invoking the Bible after I said that, and in a light-hearthed manner, sounded like a bit of a meme. So I responded in kind. If you felt particularly offended by this, then I apologize, it was not my intent.

Considering the militancy with which certain members of the lore staff participated in the discussion under review, I simply want to make sure that the issue is with my final statement, and not with how I concluded the actual discussion. It also wouldn't hurt to have a slightly more elaborate explanation of how you're offended. Would help with me understanding the issue, and all.

Just to be one 100% sure. You're making the complaint about which line. And just to be 110% sure. You're actually serious about this?
-
Problem. There's no sane way to do this in code. Faction is not considered during job selection (by the game controller). While this could theoretically be done, this would lead into two other issues. First, it'd cause a heck of a lot more misfires and bad round setups, because a considerable chunk of people would be rejected due to the contractor limit being reached. Now. With that in mind, I have often stated that most things are ultimately possible. And this is true here. But this leads into problem two. Whatever Next Big Meme the staff team is currently working on, it will utilize factions more than the current setup does. Specifically, we're likely going to stray away from NT being the default faction (for all departments, anyways). So whatever effort we would be putting into this now, would effectively be squandered there.

99 reasons to hate Discord as an admin I suppose. Alright, I'll lift this. Tho do heed the warning now that you're aware of it. Spamming anything is a stupid idea and will win you stupid prizes. (And how you do it is ultimately irrelevant.)
-
A kick is a warning, a reason was provided. Though I suppose the only question is whether or not Discord shows it to you, or whether it's kept only in the audit logs. I did assume that it was shown to you.

BIG SAD. But have a good break.

Go fucking read this: https://forum.ss13.co/showthread.php?tid=5175&pid=60279#pid60279 Popecrunch's thought experiment should be mandatory reading to anyone who thinks threads like this are ever a fucking good idea.

So it would be an alt-title of psych?

For the n-th time. Most of these duties do not exist at this time. To use your own DLC model: once the content to support more explorers is in, we can add more explorers. Creating job titles and descriptions is trivial as fuck. Adding a slot to an already existent role simply requires you edit a single number in a single file.
