This is a nice idea, except for one little part. The morgue is considered a secure area. There is no need nor should there be a little window where anyone able could have a peek inside, or possibly break in. This is especially dangerous with the risk of CMD.

OneWingedMajora's Skrell Whitelist Application
witchbells replied to Majora's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Majora is someone who can make realistic, well-rounded characters. There's no reason to suspect they wouldn't take a Skrell whitelist to wonderful places. -
Staff Complaint: XanderDox, Attached Posts
witchbells replied to a topic in Staff Complaints Archive
This really could have been a nice discussion if it weren't for Xander's cherrypicking. He's already had a complaint for his actions as a forum mod before, but nobody paid it much mind. -
I've wanted to say something like this for a while. It's been a few months since I could honestly say Aurora felt like a heavy roleplay server. I will disagree you with you about the wizard thing. Ultimate realism isn't what's important, it's about realistic situations and realistic people. Could the gamemode itself use some tweaking to turn it into a more feasible sci-fi/fantasy crossover? Absolutely. What we're doing here is writing our own stories. They don't have to be realistic, they just have to be believable. I can't help but feel we've fallen from that.

BYOND Key: NursieKitty Character Names: Phoebe Essel, Kazuo Kurosawa, Morgan Harper, Garvan Harper, and some others. Species you are applying to play: IPC Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: The new shell customization options broadened the horizons. I love the physical aspect of creating characters and tweaking them so that I give them just the right feeling. A lot of IPCs have this otherworldly personality to them, and they're vastly varied - and not just in terms of appearance. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: They're a lot like humans, but a lot more..Vulnerable. Vulnerability isn't the first thing to come to mind with IPCs, I'm sure. They're susceptible to EMP, require mechanics to repair them, and the moment a synthetic starts acting off, the organics are incredibly quick to call malfunction, and for it to be dismantled. Not only that, but their very person hood is even under dispute. Character Name: Anpu Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs A synthetic created to manage the preparation and moving of bodies, affectionately named "Charon," was formally employed in a neo-hellenistic church in Lowell. Paid for by generous grants from church-goers in 2450, it had a vast knowledge of funeral rites and practices. The church had the opportunity to hire it out, slowly but surely earning back the money spent. It was more efficient than they would have hoped. Two years after, the riots came. Charon began acting strange. His speeches became more frenzied, and he became more defensive of the dead, which he now considered his charges. Members of the church suspected he was at a breaking point, and after a short scuffle with the pastor, he was ousted from the church, forced to make a life of his own. With the meager earnings he had, he settled into a new life at Nanotrasen, and chose a name more befitting one such as himself. He was now Anpu, a daunting patron of the dead. What do you like about this character? I've had a fascination with egyptian mythology going strong since I was tiny. I really like the picture this character paints, as well. A fearsome-looking synthetic believing himself to be a god of the dead. It's morbid, fantastically delusional, and hopefully, will be incredibly fun to play and interact with. And naturally, he would play a chaplain role. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Other people rate me rather highly, which is super nice and I appreciate it a lot, but I'm still not comfortable rating my own ability. I still have the tendency to let OOC feelings get to my character. Notes: I had this idea a night ago. I loved it so much I scrapped my previous idea for an application and got started on this. Also, this might be another thing where "nursie writes about something she knows nothing about," because I had to do some research on neo-hellenism. If there any any inconsistencies, let me know so I can scrub that up.

Phoebe CMO is something I have indeed considered, but it's not something I wish to fill my whitelist app with. Private input would be welcome.

BYOND key: NursieKitty Character names: Phoebe Essel, Kazuo Kurosawa, Garvan Harper, Morgan Harper, some others. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Why did you come to Aurora?: Facepunch died, and I needed a new server. I came to Aurora expecting to find, simply put, a bunch of tightly-wound hardasses. I found friends instead. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: It's playing a role! You get in the character, you become them, and just let things happen. It's like writing a story, except you don't need to be a good writer. You just be. Personally, I like to challenge myself in roleplay. I want to try new things, and encourage people to do the same. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Help new players and whoever else with IC mechanics. They're someone you can depend on if you don't know what the hell you're doing. They have higher standards, and they're the ones held accountable for when things go horribly awry. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Whitelisted players are held to a higher standard. They, needless to say, have far more responsibilities than non-whitelisted players. They have a duty to assist non-whitelisted players with game mechanics, protocol, and most other game functions. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Garvan Harper Character age: 48 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Garvan Harper was a burly man with the face of a lion. He eagerly acquired a bachelor's in criminal justice and applied to work for Lowell's police department. Unfortunately, he found the very thing he sought to combat - corruption. It was a difficult twelve years for Garvan. You could never know which cops were dirty and which were clean, but he managed. He did, until late July, when he responded to a shoot-out involving a drug transfer they had been chasing for months. He ended up in the hospital with several bullet wounds, and resigned from the force soon after. He claims to this day that some of the shots came from the wrong side. He then spent nine years working Lowell's correctional facility where he learned skills that, unbeknownst to him, prove invaluable in his future career. What do you like about this character?: He's a family man. He's stern, and lends an ear to those who need it (usually prisoners), respects his colleagues, and is currently watching his own son enter law enforcement. What do you dislike about this character?: ..He's a family man. He's a little slower to action than most sec personnel, preferring to see whether it's a force that can be reasoned with first. He's also not military-trained, which is going to leave him open to a fair amount of criticism. Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff?: Yes. Why?: I think he provides a much needed more communication-oriented take on security. He has no objections to detainment, but that doesn't mean he won't stick around and listen to their woes. I'd like to think this makes him quite the problem solver. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I feel uncomfortable with this question. Mostly because of course I'm going to be biased in my own favor, and rate myself highly. I'd like to say I'm a 7/10, because I have a tendency to let OOC aggravation get to my character (especially with certain ones in particular) and I will make a joke out of a situation when it might not exactly be appropriate. Extra notes: I'm really, really bad at being wordy. I'm sorry if this isn't enough words. First person to say "You have characters that aren't Phoebe?" gets to eat my boot.

But why do they have to be crackpots? Why can't they be former scientists of Nanotrasen who quit due to concerns about sentient rights?

I remember wanting to shove that chief engineer in a disposal bin. And then grabbing him, healing him, and shoving him in another disposal bin.

That would be amazing. Can this happen? Please?

I like this. It gives a new aspect to loyalty implants, but removes the terrifying mind control thing. Which was really, really cool. Can we still have mind control?

I think that's called the general practitioner's room. I don't exactly know if it was made for a specific job slot, but it would be nice to have for casual consultations and medical examinations.

ya'll gon learn today. Nurse, Nursie, Kitty, what have you. I'm a twenty year old girl from Tennessee who's just under five feet tall. Currently majoring in web design with plans to get a certificate in data processing. I regularly watch children's cartoons and sappy moments will make me tear up at the drop of a hat. I also play a lot of video games with a huge tendency towards any kind of horror I can get my hands on. I think Machine for Pigs was better than Dark Descent. I have a huge backlog of games I need to finish some time. I am unironically in love with DC's Scarecrow. I'm also bisexual, and it makes playing monosexual characters a little weird. I love cats. I love the shit out of cats.

What it was a little less "anime girl" and more something like this?

I am going to politely request that you calm the fuck down, Xander. The Duty Officer corps was created to give eyes, ears, and a face to Central Command authority. They are the ultimate authority that Nanotrasen staff answers to, including command staff. Duty Officers are not your enemy. They are here to keep everyone accountable, including command staff. Let me reiterate that. Command staff are not the highest authority. They have people they answer to, which is why the DO system is in place, aside from having IC reports.

BYOND Key: NursieKitty Player Byond Key: Direwolf20 Staff involved: TishinaStalker Reason for complaint: Playing a racist caricature named "Kim Jong-Wu" as a head of security. In addition to the asian "accent," The name Kim Jong-Wu is a blatant reference to North Korea's line of dictators. There was also an incident within this round where the antagonists had holed themselves up in the library. Direwolf20 had himself put in a locker, wrapped up, and sent to the library via disposals to take care of the antagonists himself while they were negotiating with command and security officers outside the barriers. As I was not actually part of this incident, it would be appreciated if someone who was could comment on this situation. My primary issue was how Direwolf20 used a reference name for the entire round, spoke "engrish," and got away with all of this, as a head of security, no less. Approximate Date/Time:5:30-6:00 ish
