  1. Nice spriting! Gogogo, someone approve it! I wanna interact with this guy, and the items'll only make it better~
  2. ;_; Luna fountain is only 630, guys! (no seriously I thought she'd be way more)
  3. Warning: this post contains opinions. Written from best to worst. secret When creative juices are running low, the knowledge that some kind of conflict is going to happen is comforting and brings together players that might not normally interact. I, too, like the surprise and variety. extended The best for delicious homespun events and conflict. However, I personally find it hard to play without being cliquey. I like making friends in secret, then doing fantastic detailed things with said friends in extended. cult I'm personally terrible with the actual mechanics of cult, but I've seen good cultists involve very many crew members in a high-octane combination of action and arpee. Bonus points for insanity arpee and creepy ghosts who add to the atmosphere instead of fucking revealing who the cultists are. nuclear When done right, pretty fun. The first hour or whatever is hard; most people just sit there expecting things instead of passing the time with fun arpee. Hostage arpee is nice I am not a death-rager, please kidnap me and maim me and whatever you want. Bomb-spam is not nice. heist I shunned heist until I had some lovely arpee with it recently, as a non-birb. I should really try being one, though, before I can shriek KIKIKIKIKIKIKI with pride. Definitely needs to be a part of the secret selection! changeling Innately conflict-creating, as there's usually death. Usually lacks originality of execution, but death is a decent baseline for drama. Bonus points for being more plausible in the universe than, say, wizard or ninja. Powerlings are boring and annoying. traitor Shines when the tator targets in some way an existing connection among the crew, but it's hard to guarantee those. So usually ends up being a mad attempt to create conflict with the crew. traitor-chan uguu~~~ malfunction Often made sour by powergamers and a lack of subtlety on the part of the AI. AI winning, or coming very close to victory, gives a desperate atmosphere which can yield very good fear-arpee. Loses points for me being bitter about not being smart enough to be a malf, or any synthetic at that. vampire “There can only be one.” - why it's common for a vamp round to go by without anyone realising it's vamp. I've had a nice round with vamp, but it was based around clique-drama and so hard to make happen repeatedly, and for the crew as a whole. mutiny Better than rp-rev because it's mechanised and provides marginally better reasons to revolt. However, I absolutely cannot stand 'fire all females/xenos'. rp-revolution Lame reasons to rev. Also, as a person I'm submissive and obedient – similar to my main – so I'm naturally predisposed not to go along with the revolution. extend-a-traitormongous The name is silly and unclear – I had to ask what it even entailed – and I once got assigned antag a few minutes before the shuttle docked. Thanks, game, for adding me to the antag list and letting me be the target of antag-shaming when I didn't have a chance to do anything. Planned antaggery is infinitely better, in my opinion. wizard It's... a wizard. In space. Why. And I once got staff-of-changed as soon as I stepped off the arrivals shuttle. This seems to happen pretty much every wizard round to different people. I personally want it off the secret list, so that people who want it will be more likely to come up with a proper plan before voting it in. ninja https://soundcloud.com/the-theme-song/fuck-this-shit-im-out
  4. Я хорошо понимаю русский язик. Например, я могу свободно смотреть русское телевидение. I understand Russian well. For example, I can watch Russian TV with no trouble. L'année dernière j'ai donné des directions à un homme français. C'était vraiment passionnant. Last year I gave directions to a French guy. It was truly exciting! Ich habe in der Schule ein bisschen Deutch gelernt. Leider habe ich alles vergessen. I learned a bit of German in school. Unfortunately, I've forgotten everything. Ahora aprendo español; fue necesario hablar con la madre de una cierta persona... <3 Now I learn Spanish; it was necessary to speak with the mother of a certain person... <3 にほんごはすこしだけはなします。ときどきアニメはサブタイトルなしでわかります! I only speak a little Japanese. Sometimes, I can understand anime without subtitles! Nowadays I can barely speak a sentence of Latin, but can more or less understand whatever text you throw at me. I love languages! I want to become conversational in a lot more of them.
  5. Um, no. Terrence Frank is not played by Meowykins. He is played by someone called Bobbyswagger. I, too, adore Terrence Frank.
  6. Player Key: Crescentise. Character Name: Mortimer Cash. Character Age: 61. Occupation(s): Shaft Miner. Description: Mortimer, or Morty as he's more commonly known, is a hulking, chainsmoking senior who approaches seven feet tall. Lined with hard muscle and scars, he'd be intimidating were it not for the dimples and laugh lines etched into his leathery brown face. He speaks in a Gutter-accented voice. His eyes are an unnatural dark green and constantly emit a quiet whirr as they study their surroundings. Were they once twinkly and warm? Who knows? His backstory is not fleshed out beyond vague basics, and borrows from the early life of Darth Bane, the middle age of some kind of corrupt corporate executive, and the old age of a repentant badass - perhaps a Walter White who regretted everything. Morty was raised in the dangerous environment of a mining colony on the Trimurti Debris Disk. After something of a miracle, he was able to leave his life of meteor-dodging and cheap labour, and enter the financial sector. He became very good with money, and ended up marrying a lady and siring some children. At some point along the way he fell into some extremely shady business involving money laundering and supporting such cheap labour as he was part of when young. Ironic, maybe. He succumbed to the corruptive influence of money, delighting in material things that he'd never thought he'd ever experience, and ended up destroying the lives of his wife and children as a result. How - I'm not so sure yet. Most likely he made some kind of deal that made his children into slaves, and his wife was killed as a threat, perhaps. Cue some kind of epic moment where he rampaged and choked a mafia boss with his bare hands, or something. After all of this, Morty decided he wanted to go out the way he came - pickaxe in hand and in constant danger. He is now a Shaft Miner assigned to the NSS Aurora, and would become noted for his eerie calm in station emergencies, scary brute strength, and a demeanour that is at once jaded and fatherly. He essentially tries to atone for screwing over his own family by being everyone's father-dad-husband figure. He secretly despises bureaucratic asshats that remind him of his former self. He doesn't drink alcohol - preferring a nice glass of milk instead - but smokes a great deal. He keeps a collection of minerals, and reads geoscience journals in his spare time. Available: Nope!
  7. I saw it! Ukulele! Very nostalgic. I hope they can get Grant Kirkhope for the soundtrack...~
  8. 1) It's not calculus. It's an invalid proof. 2) These two lines show what is wrong with the proof. If a and b are both 1, then a-b = 0. You cannot divide both sides of the equation by a-b because division by 0 is undefined. Therefore the 'proof' cannot progress.
  9. That looks AMAZING! Backgrounds are something I've never been able to draw; I'm so envious! Holy shit well done. Hype hype hype.
  10. I seem to find it very hard to play 'normal' characters; those that haven't gone through some kind of major hardship. Am I destined to play tragic snowflakes and be hated for it...? I also shy away from playing synthetics. For one, I have no idea of the mechanics and I'm too scared to try in case I fuck up (crap excuse, I know). I know everyone has big expectations of the AI, for example. But also, I'd be way too worried about not sounding smart/robotic enough and that would make my attempts suffer. I'm a bit weird about that sort of thing...
  11. Luna Fountain: Vitaly Zheleznikov: (not heard in video: very subtle Russian accent)
  12. Hi! Welcome!~ Can't wait to arpee with you. c:

    return?

I miss you! Poor Dea! D:
  14. This is correct. However, everything else you said, Xander, is up for debate by the internet as well as doctors themselves. There are very many conflicting sources with questionable credibility about the intricacies of sociopaths and psychopaths.
  15. Firstly, I want to say that 5/10 is being excessively modest. I have had the pleasure of interacting with Lecter, and Abandoned's arpee I would place in a sort of 'elite' caliber. However, I cannot support this application in the slightest, and I'm sorry for it. The aforementioned pleasurable interaction culminated in my character being shoved into and sent down disposals. Don't get me wrong, the whole thing was roleplayed exceptionally well, and I had no problem with being sent down disposals in itself. The problem comes when you consider Lecter both doing stuff like this and still being suitable for the position of CMO. I believe he's not even suitable to be working for NT in the first place. Lecter is a brazen sociopath, as you have correctly admitted, but there's a lot which just doesn't add up realistically. For example, his medical records. How is it, that in 35 years of his life, he only has recorded vague mentions of tendencies towards violence and aggression. Forgive me, I don't recall the exact text. There was also a bit saying something along the lines of the cause of such behaviour being unknown, and recommending psychiatric sessions to uncover this. I imagine you wrote that because you wanted some psych arpee, which is cool, okay. However, why does someone who regularly acts in an obviously unstable, violent, caustic manner, not have any substantial diagnosis yet? An armchair psychologist among the crew could see that he's obviously a sociopath. Why was this not detected in the mandatory psychiatric evaluation needed to sign the contract with NT? Why was he even allowed aboard Aurora? Why is he still being allowed on there after such incidents? The ways to justify a mentally ill character being on the Aurora are few and far between, but they do exist. You just, in my opinion, haven't found and implemented one yet. Before you've done so, I can't even begin to consider this guy a suitable CMO, no matter how competent he is with medicine and surgery. Back to the disposals throwing, I can't say for certain as I'm not so clear with the terminology, but isn't this a kind of self-antagging? I don't know if the self-antagging was justified or not, not being an antag but still roleplaying well, but it is an area of concern. Sorry. -1
  16. First of all, I had absolutely no idea that english isn't your native language. So massive props to you for that. Secondly, I can't believe you don't have a racial whitelist yet. Your roleplay is pretty damn great, son, and I imagine you'll be able to pull off an Unathi with ease. Also, we need more green lizards, because they're visually interesting. If you alternated between officer and cargo tech, I could see this character (who has an awesome name, by the way) being very cool and memorable. +1
  17. Sorry to be dumb or whatever, but how do you actually get around this? A certain medication before surgically repairing the bone, or...?
  18. I'd be very happy to +1 you! You also play Tal Nejem, as far as I know, and others have enjoyed interacting with her a lot. I'm very eager for you to bring the subtle touch of your roleplay and a Skrell to medbay. It's just I'd recommend expanding the backstory juuust a little. It does say approximately two paragraphs, and all I can tell about her personality from the backstory is that she's socially inept and enjoys chemistry - a rather wooden framework if I'm honest. I have no doubt you'd be able to develop her more while playing her, but just a little more detail would give you my full support. c:
  19. A fairly quick question. On the Sol Alliance wiki page, Nova Concordia has two different prefixes - ASSN and SAAS. Please could someone explain to me why that is/which to use/what they stand for/etc.? Thank you in advance.
  20. Vitaly Zheleznikov... … plays the cello to a very high standard. … is the son of the Sol Alliance senator Sergey Zheleznikov. … recreationally uses opiates. … can discern vodka brands by taste. … was born with permanently contracted pupils. … is trying to find his fraternal twin sister who is listed as a Missing Person.
  21. Hello. I am a person who normally doesn't participate in these threads. My characters have never interacted with Ana other than treating her wounds. Please believe that there are, for certain, many others like me: those who are unbiased, generally stay away from posting in discussions like these, and yet believe there is indeed a larger issue here. I am attempting a compromise of evidence and faith, as it's nigh impossible to gather everyone who thinks so and have them all chime in to agree. So I trust the good nature of the participants and hope that I can be somewhat representative for now. The issue may even be that of rule-breaking (don't be a dick, prioritise making the round fun for others). However, the rules are fuzzy and need clarification for this to be made a certainty. There are rules we have no doubt about - such as no ERPing, for instance - and there are others which can arguably called guidelines. This is where the staff - not Frances - ultimately call the shots, and I hope that this will be discussed in Skull's mod-admin meeting. I can only hope and encourage everyone to be as uncaustic as possible to each other in the meantime. Please try to have fun with your 2D spessmens.
  22. A page from Luna's shitty sketchbook she draws in at home. It's huge, so open the image in a new tab.
