  1. If you developed a bit more it would be useful for me to learn or to understand it! Thanks.
  2. I mean, I'm ''arguing'' (I prefer discussing) with you, not to make you change your -1 to +1, that was never my idea. I'm speaking with you to gather feedback, as much as I can. The idea of this app was to gather feedback, since I was like 90% sure I wasn't going to get through it! I don't think this is annoying for the moderator, in this case Juani, he volunteered for this job, don't think he's annoyed *shrug*
  3. You should check the differences between IC and OOC more often! This is your opinion, I respect it, others here (people who roleplayed like, a lot more than you probably have with Nick) said the opposite. I mean, you're even allowed to create a totally new character to play it as Command, playing a character daily is not a requirement for him to become Command. One thing is to say Nick's an asshole and whatever you want. A very much different thing is to call me a liar. I said what I said, and what you're saying now shows a total lack of respect. If had an urge to play HoS, I would have deleted Nick, made a typical friendly officer, play half a month daily, interacting with as many people as I could in a friendly way to get their +1 and cya folks. I accept all the hate you want to throw at Nick, but when talking to me as a player, please, control yourself. Thank you.
  4. All I could say would be repeating what Soultheif said up there, every single interaction I ever had with Satin was great, I think she has the charisma to do this, and her way to treat people fits very well, I think she has all you could ask for to be CCIAA. Would be awesome to get permasuspended by her. +1
  5. I think you're both totally right. I play Nick the most, like at least 2/3 of the rounds I play are with Nick, cause I enjoy playing him the most, cause he has a well-built past, and he has lots of interactions with different people, some hate them, and, believe it or not, some like him. But, since the character is kind of ''absorbing'' me in the terms of how the community thinks I am, I probably have to use Draxler or other characters to show that I can play other things not just assholey characters. Thank you for your replies. Well, in fact, one ''good'' character in terms of being more kind and that should be a good proof of my capability of playing different types of character, yeah. Also, that thing you say about ''character direction''. I wish to state a complaint against the players who hate Nick. You show me how much you ''don't like'' the character, but you show it OOCly. It would be interesting if anyone took serious actions against Nick. Nick has never lost an Incident Report, and he has, for sure, given enough reasons to be reported to the CCIAA's like a hundred times. Thank you all for your replies.
  6. As I said, I didn't expect this to be accepted, no hard feelings, but it was a good way to gather feedback, and collect information! Thank you RTNP
  7. Thank you butter for at least reading the app! Yeah, it's difficult and unfair in situations like these. Even after making clear Nick is not getting a HoS job anytime soon, everyone comments about Nick and that's all. But I decided to go along with Nick, and I have to accept what I get for it
  8. I guess I will have to do that, I knew people would be scared when I said I want Nick to be HoS at some point. Thing is no one decided to read enough to notice that I'm as opposed as they are for the moment. I wanted to use another Shaun as head for the time being, but I guess Nick is kind of "absorbing" the real me in the server (at least for the ones who never interacted in-depth with me or Nick) Thank you for your reply!
  9. I don't know if we are allowed to respond here but I can't stop myself from saying that Goret did really really well handling a couple of issues I had, very effectively, he knows what you need before you do, kind mood (some admins struggle to act kindly to players imo). Goret cured my cancer handling my tickets. Remove Garnascus, Goret Headmeme Kidding Hope you make it Goret, you're really good at this.
  10. Although I clearly specified Nick is not fit for a command role like 4 times, this answer has a lot of feedback, thank you!
  11. I'm starting to think people who answer here are mostly not reading the application. "Nick would be barely eligible"... Did you read what I say about him? There's a full explanation of the incident you quote right here, since you seem to be lacking quite an amount of information! Thanks for your reply
  12. Yes, of course I understand this, but judging someone using as argument a conflictive character is a bit unfair for the person judged!
  13. I mean, first that's non-canon round, and second, I said that's an idea for the future, in months, probably not even this year. People change, Azande, and in your life you probably know many people who changed a lot. And yes, he has a bunch of infractions, that's why I said I need a lot of time and the proper canon event and proper situations to give him a twist. It's so easy to make a character who follows all the regulations and has 0 personality, don't think we're judging that here. However, I appreciate your feedback. It's a bit unfair to me to get a -1 for having an IC conflictive character, but I understand your point. However, I pointed out that Nick is not ready for Command, and also pointed out that he won't be ready in the near future.
  14. BYOND key: TheNewOrleans (before: TheOrleans, but I lost the password to that account and the email, however the notes and all were merged to my new account) Character names: The ones I play enough to be recognized: - Nick Volvalaad, Security Officer - Shaun Draxler, Quartermaster - Anatoly Kovacs, Detective - Lex Kozlov, Engineer How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Nearly one year, this forum account was created 22 Sept 2018, probably since the beginning of September. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I think have good and interesting ideas to create roleplay. I'm one of those players who tends to help players, both new ones and experienced ones if they have any doubt I can answer. I would also like to take a step forward getting more responsability over the server (since I know that Heads have an OOC responsability too). In the past I've been a conflictive player, now I think I'm reformed, and I really want to know if I'm fit for an important role in the server. This, if accepted, will be my first step in order to start helping in the server, instead of being a simple player who enjoys without 'adding' anything. Why did you come to Aurora?: I've been searching and testing systems to roleplay, and roleplay servers on many games. GTA SA (SAMP and MTA), ARMA, Forum Roleplay, Chat Roleplay... when I found SS13, I knew this was the best platform for roleplay (at least, from the ones I know). And well, I think Aurora holds the better community in terms of roleplay, the most serious one. I tried Aurora and, well, here I am, nearly a year after. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I've read all the jobs on the wiki (cause I've played in nearly every role, at least once), and many many pages. I love to read wikis and LORE, so yes, I've read the Head ones too, all of them. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Yes I have. Probably, we were all punished at some point, it's part of learning. It helps to have the warnings there to read what you did wrong in the past in order to not repeat it. I would also like to be able to see my notes, probably there's a lot of stuff there, and I could learn a lot about it. I've received one 3-days-ban around 7 months ago (totally deserved, huge powergaming, I was trolling hard that day, but I promise that's not me anymore), and since the day I joined, a total amount of 6 warnings (4 expired, 2 active, one of the actives one is being discussed at the moment). Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: I think the word itself tells us all we need to know. Roleplay it's the game of fitting a role in a proper way, including in the word 'role' the whole character, personality, reactions, knowledge, feelings. Playing in a roleplay is like being a writer in an interactive story, and the best thing about is to adapt to the story, you know what you create (the character), and you know how you would like his story to be, but you never know how it will end, and you will enjoy this a lot if you really enjoy the roleplay. You write along with other writers in a big environment, and that's not something you can get anywhere else. That's the essence of roleplay in my humble opinion. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I don't know if I'm allowed to do this, I will change it if this is wrong. I'm mixing both of these questions and give them a single answer since I think I can answer this better if linked together. As I said before, I know that Heads have an IC responsability of course, but a big OOC responsability too. We don't have the 'Mentor' figure in this server, I would say Heads are this figure. Someone you can speak to, someone who is there to help you, to guide you. It's also their responsability to take care of high-stress situations in an OOC way too, since, at least for me it was very difficult to pace myself in these situations when I was new in the server. A head of staff has to be a guide and a mentor. Also, although this does not happen very often, I think that Heads have the responsability to help drive the roleplay, especially in rounds where ''nothing is happening'', by this I mean, if an extended round has nothing but chair roleplay and small interactions, it's appreciated (or at least, I appreciate it) if a Head decides to host an event, for example a CQC training in case of a HoS. This helps players to meet new people, enforces roleplay situations... however, you have to be careful when doing this, it's easy to overwhelm people if you do it too many times or in an agressive way. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? I don't know how to answer this probably, I will try. I gather my information from the Galactic News and the canon events that happened on-board. I will focus on saying how affected my characters (mostly Nick, since I play him the most) General Context: Aut'ahk arrival due to the internships and being refugees, the peacekeeper project using vaurca warforms, the tajara liberation army enlistment, ATLAS relocation, Lii'Dra attacks... - Nick: The event that affected him the most was the peacekeeper project, since one of those rounds (canon) he was attacked by the warform after bumping on it by mistake, ending with his ribs broken, he had to release CMO Gonzales from his cell after taking down the Head of Security, since he was abusing the warform and using it as his puppet. This event left a mark on Nick, it's hard to fight your own boss in a one versus one situations in order to save the crew. After that, he was promoted to Interim Head of Security (this is a very very brief summary of the whole round). He has good relationship with all the Aut'ahks he met, since he's an augmentalist (was an ATLAS member in the past, not anymore), and he has very good relationship with all the unathi, due to his dominian past, he even tried to fight an Aut'ahk in a training combat (being totally crushed of course). He was also affected by the ATLAS events but that was long ago. He has had interactions with the Lii'Dra attacks (I'm not totally sure if all of the rounds were canon, but I'm sure some of them were) - Anatoly: He is quite a new character, I've written all hist past regarding his work as Mendell City Detective. He was affected by the Lii'Dra attacks due to the Vaurca actions in their disctrict (district 9), but most of his past is not linked to events, but to Mendell City information (gathered from the wiki), District Eleven gangs and all. - Shaun: He is very friendly towards Aut'ahks, he has a close relationship with unathi employees, since he served in unathi-space when he was working for the IAC. He had interactions with the peacekeeper events too, but not that much, he's very skeptical about warforms though. My other characters are not that deep, I don't play them a lot, and they haven't been that affected. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? My main character is Nick, I would like him to become Head of Security, however, this is not something for the near future (he has sec-records, and not a good relationship with all the crew), but eventually, I want him to end up there, and when he is there, after a long, long development arc, I want him to do well. I will probably try to make Shaun Draxler HoP before, in order to have a first meeting with Head Job. I don't have any intention to play as Captain (for the moment), since I don't feel ready for it, and I don't think that jumping straight to Captain is a wise decision anyways. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: - Shaun Draxler would probably be my first command character, as HoP (since he has been gathering experience from his QM job), and, as I explained - Nick will eventually (I don't have a date, when I feel he is ready) become HoS, once he improves relationship with the crew, and his own behaviour. Probably there will be a canon event sooner or later that I will use to give him a twist. Many people will be scared to see Nick in a Head position, I know he's not fit yet, don't worry, he's childish sometimes, not responsible, drinks on duty... As I said, I need to give him a twist, won't happen soon! -I don't have any other ideas regarding the RD, CE or CMO jobs. Captain, maybe, but not soon, I don't feel ready for that spot. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I would say that I'm good, pretty good, I try to not fall in stereotypes, and to give my characters a lot of depth, meaning they will have many reactions based in their past, even if it's a little issue in the past with direct connection. I feel like I'm a good writer (although english is not my native language), and I've written before (never published though), I think that helped me to be a good roleplayer. I also think I am improving each day I play. I would also like to note something bad about my roleplay, I'm not very constant, meaning that one day I want my character to act in a way, and the next maybe I change my opinion a bit on a specific matter. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? I understand that the whitelist is not permanent, and I also understand that any administrative action towards me will be more serious due to the responsability I'm accepting by being whitelisted. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes, as I said before, I've read a lot of the wiki, I find it very, very interesting, so I'm quite familiarized with the command pages, and with many other pages too. I've read every single job page too. Extra notes: I will be very, very honest. I don't expect my application to be accepted (however I've put all my effort on it), but, at least, I expect to gather feedback from the people who post, and from the admins. I expect to become a member that adds something interesting to the community, as I said before, sooner or later, and I will post again in the future if I get rejected, and eventually, when deemed ready for it, I will make it . It's hard to feel ready anyways, cause I don't feel as good as other players who have been accepted (Shestrying for example)
  15. I've laughed so hard during this post, trying to imagine someone trying to breathe so hard that his lung pops The system is so stupid, just change it please xD +1
  16. Well it could have been cool to get a response from CC like: We can't help, yoyo bois But since that response was not given, my character was expecting to get some help to deal with it.
  17. OOC level, if you are given, as a Detective (not even Officer) order to force a clearly unstoppable lethal-threat, you say screw you chief, come and do it yourself. Which is exactly what I did. You think it is not appropiate to roleplay some fear and self-care? Cause that's what I did. It's not all running and hiding, if you know there's a way for the lethal-threat to remain peaceful, you FOLLOW that way. Or you get whitelisted as HoS and threat it, and then die, cause, who cares? It's non canon pal! I will revive next shift without any proooblem! If my actions were non-reasonable, why were my actions the only ones that didn't end up in crewmembers death?
  18. Garn let me tell you something. You're losing control with your language and the way you speak to the players. Calm down, you already lost a complaint for this. Stop behaving like that to the players, since they are the ones who keep this alive. You did this in your previous answer and you kind of keep doing it now. Thank you, I appreciate your hard work, but please, calm down. Now. You say I act silly? A Detectice (not an officer) who does not want to die by following a stupid order given by a stupid head? Yeah, threaten that being who destroys reinforced plasteel walls without any tool or weapon, such a great idea! ISD is not trained to deal with some things, we are not soldiers, we are not spec ops team. Half of the hostile situations are more than a reason for everyone in the ISD to drop their weapons and hide, they're just private security. I decide to play this the best way I can, the most realistic way I can. A xenobeing clearly strong enough to destroy me in a second wants to leave? I open the damn airlock and wait for CC to send someone PREPARED to deal with it. You say "no, you are wrong, you can deal with this". Well, they tried, and they all died. Except me, the only character who thought a bit about self-care and using the word instead of the gun. Apefficer Security acted, and killed half of the crew. 3/4 of the things you said "not following an order", "this is not your call to make" are IC issues, not deserving a warning. The only OOC thing is "aiding a hostile criminal". I pushed it away fron people multiple times, I fought against it without risking myself too much, is it non-reasonable? Yes, I opened an airlock to let it leave the Brig. I said it multiple times, it was that, or dying while the thing tears a hole through the wall. And yes, I punched ONCE an IPC to draw his attention, and the IPC went berserk on me, I had to defend myself. You are defending the apesec a lot of people hate. People with guns who never think, just shoot. I put a bit of mind on the matter, managing to keep the thing peaceful and I get warned. There are many, MANY, threats to the station usually treated like this. Wizards who threat and harm people. Ninjas who are not engaged with weapons even when they have commited severe crimes... many examples, and this horror was even more dangerous. The round clearly showed that my actions were the most reasonable. I saved lives by engaging it in a peaceful way. The round clearly showed that the HoS and Aria engaging it in a hostile way was not reasonable. It got maaany people killed. But you keep going against the facts.
  19. Yeah, it was peaceful, we only had to avoid threatening it and stressing it too much. And even when we didn't have a way to stop it if it decided to go hostile, you decide to threaten it? Very smart from the HoS. It was peaceful, if not threatened. We had messaged Central Command, and we had to wait for them to respond since we FOR SURE couldn't deal with that. But the HoS didn't wait. And welp, everyone died. That's false, Garn. It didn't break out of the brig, I opened the airlocks for it (cause otherwise it would have done so). And it only killed the scientist before that. I'm not saying I was his best friend or saying that it was some thing you could have as pet. I'm saying that we couldn't deal with it, and we had to wait for CC to respond, so the best way to wait WITHOUT DYING was trying to approach the being in a peaceful way. And it worked. Until someone (HoS + Aria) decided to NOT approach in a peaceful way. It seems you don't understand that we had already messaged Central Command, and the fact that in case of the being going hostile, there was no way we could stop it. Best way to approach it was being friendly with it, until Central Command sent someone prepared to deal with it. I was punished for doing the only thing that didn't lead to deaths. And yet this was called non-reasonable. Well, I think that the non-reasonable thing was to threaten a being that was way above what we could handle.
  20. All I can say about this idea is
  21. I refuse to call this staff complaint. I want to discuss the decision, but Yonni acted well and spoke with me much more than any other admin before placing the warning. BYOND Key: TheNewOrleans Staff BYOND Key: Yonnimer Game ID: b1d-akro Reason for complaint: I disagree with the decision made, that made me get a warning for self-antagging. I think what I did is reasonable, very reasonable. This is the reason. I will start with the explanation now: For context, this was a changeling round. The changeling was Research Director Azqu Uqu-Uilk, who was arrested for eating another scientist. Then we moved to the questioning room, where I could interact with the changeling for a long period of time. I could talk with it a lot, knowing why it was doing those things, and that sort of things, it even showed us its real form (horror). The changeling seemed to be peaceful, except when hungry, put under heavy stress or threatened. It showed this multiple times. After a very long interaction, the horror became Azqu again, and said that it wanted to go to the bar to eat normal food and drink normal drinks. All I could say after watching it destroy a reinforced wall easily was: ''Okay, but the unit (Oracle) and I will accompany you''. In my opinion it was either that or being killed, and then the horror making a hole through the hull to get wherever it wanted. PEACEFUL APPROACH ALWAYS WORKED, making it stop breaking walls, or hitting things IT WORKED (Nº1) So, when the HoS Dyslioth knew I ''let'' the RD out, she started yelling over the radio to force it to bring it back. My character was scared and thought it was not his work to restrain that being, and told the HoS to do it on her own. So, IPC Officer Aria and the HoS stormed down the hallway and literally ordered the being to return to the brig. Then the IPC followed this by threatening both the ling and me, and took out its tazer, aiming at me. (Image 1). The HoS supported this hostile approach, which was clearly stupid, since the HoS was there with me when the ling was being peaceful if not threatened. Oracle said that the being had a strong bong with me (it talked with me the most, and I tried to understand it), so it wasn't the best idea to aim at me. And well, so it happened, The RD became a horror and started chasing the HoS to kill her. I multiple times tried to pull it away and tell it to stop (I can show the logs of me saying stop, but since pulling does not leave any log, I can't show that), and it finally killed Lin. I tried doing RCP on her (Image 2), blocking the horror with my body, trusting that it wouldn't attack me, AND IT WORKED (Nº2). An engineer started attacking it, and I was able to push the engineer back, and blocking the horror with my body and pushing it back, trusting that it wouldn't attack if approached in a peaceful way, AND IT WORKED (Nº3) (IMAGE 3), like this I managed to save the engie life. The horror then chased someone else into Medbay. I kept trying to pull the horror away from the fight, and it never attacked me. Multiple officers shot the horror with laser rifles (at least a full laser rifle was shot), .45 many times... everything. And it didn't die. The horror kept going like nothing. (IMAGE 4) The horror was eating the cadet, and the IPC kept shooting with a damn .45 at it, even when a full rifle laser didn't kill it. Thinking? Overrated!. I punched the officer ONCE to make it stop. (IMAGE 5) I punched an IPC, yes, a big heavy piece of metals. How destructive right? Why did I do this? Since the agressive approach never worked (HoS? Killed. Cadet? Being eaten. Oracle? Nearly destroyed. The engineer who attacked it? Only alive cause I approached it in a peaceful way) I thought that I could try to speak with the horror, and pull it away. What did the IPC do? In the middle of the situation, just cause I punched it ONCE, it started grabbing me, and fighting, right in front of the horror was eating the cadet. (But I am the one who did non-reasonable things?). Literally, fighting me next to the horror. Nice thing to dom in the middle of the situation, right? Since the IPC officer was risking my life by throwing me nearly against the horror, I shot it with the revolver (only thing I had) against it. A revolver this size (IMAGE 6, straight from wikipedia) against an IPC. Won't destroy it forever for sure. So, that's all the context and all that happened. Now, I got a warning because what I did was not reasonable. Really? It wasn't? The peaceful approach, trying to speak, worked at least, three times, and saved, at least, once life and the security walls. The hostile approach, going KOS ON THE THING, PULL THE TRIGGER, got the HoS, a cadet, and who knows who else killed. This is what I said to Yonni at the moment, and I don't change a word from it As part of security, since the HoS and the cadet died, and a stationbound was nearly destroyed when approaching it in a hostile way, I decided to change the approach to something more peaceful. The IPC was clearly not thinking a bit (poorly wait to roleplay an IPC), and since in my opinion that would lead to more deaths, I tried to approach it peacefully, I punched the IPC one to get its attention and it went berserk on me. That's my explanation, anything else I say will be repeating the same again and again. Hope we can discuss this. Thank you Evidence/logs/etc: Image 1 Image 2 Image 3 Image 4 Image 5 Image 6 Additional remarks: I got a warning and I would like to have it removed if I win this discussion, or at least, changed it to a note. The reason of the warning is: Self antagging by attacking a officer who was attacking a ling horrorform due to prior events, this was not a valid situation to be attacking them.. I literally punched an IPC ONCE, and then it was the IPC the one who went berserk on me, and then I had to defend myself of course.
  22. This is your thread to give me feedback of Nick. It will be mostly negative (probably?) Cause of how Nick behaves in some situations. However, my plans are to continue with Nick, and eventually make him HoS It's not an idea for tomorrow or even this month, probably not the next. I want a full story with Nick from being a hated officer to being a liked officer to being HoS So start with the feedback please (Not to be mistaken with Dante Volvalaad, that character is not mine, and it's a RnD player)
  23. I'm sorry if this sounds like rude but I don't like the colours, I don't like the shapes, I don't like the fact that you remove the option for 3 security jumpsuits... -1
  24. That's the idea, 2 or 3 loadouts per character
