Lore Impact (Small/Medium/Large): Medium Species: (Skrell, Tajara, Human, Vaurca, Dionae, Unathi, Synth, General) Primarily Vaurcae, but this may also be relevant to Skrell, Federation Dionae, and humans who have been to the Federation. Short Description: This is an expansion of the Klat'xatl faction on the wiki known as "the Lost of the Traverse". It includes a proposed name for the faction, the history behind them, as well as cultural and diplomatic aspects. How will this be reflected on-ship?: It will enable other Vaurca whitelist holders to create characters from the faction with more information available to them. Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: I think it offers more insight into the existence of the faction, how they came into being, and how those both playing as one and interacting with one might act in-character. Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team? I do. This is my first lore application for part of the setting that has had this much significance, and I completely understand if changes need to be made if it is accepted. Long Description: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NhIB4yt1oxIFN8ZpVR23AhK02_vYl2uz_xMkN0cApQM/edit?usp=sharing As a final addendum, I would like to thank @geeves for the adjusted document format, which originated from the Mi'kuetz section of the Moghes Wasteland page. I'd also like to thank @Sycmos for remotivating me in our talks to put this application out there, regardless of the outcome. 💗

meep109 - Command Application
FearTheBlackout replied to meep109's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I've had a lot of positive experiences with Meep's character since we moved over to the Horizon, including Xim as both a regular character and antagonist. Dawood was also an enjoyable character to hang out with as a Machinist, especially back when I played my Vaurca lmao. Anyway, I don't have any doubts he'd do well as a CE in particular, so I can't +1 this enough! -
thank u guys 💜 i expect i should be back in my apartment by tomorrow or tuesday. look forward to logging back into discord then

faye - synthetic lore deputy
FearTheBlackout replied to Faye <3's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I think Faye is very passionate about any part of lore she sets her mind to, and that would go double as a synthetic lore deputy. The creativity and unique style she puts into her works are always eye-catching, and for good reason. Therefore, I support this app. +1! -
BYOND key: SimpleMaroon Discord name/id: Gabby#0294 Borg / AI names: I haven't played cyborg recently, but I did have a robot named Dr. Fizzy. Recently, though, I have also been playing my pAI, Red Diamond, just to get some experience in with a synthetic personality. Have you read the Aurora wiki page about the AI?: I've read it over thoroughly, yes! Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I think it's that time of the year again where I want to broaden my horizons in-game, and I think AI would be a great way to do that. I remember a time before I became more roleplay-interested but still played AI, and doing so on Aurora Station would definitely be a different and interesting experience. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I have not. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? I do.

Lore Impact (Small/Medium/Large): Small Species: Vaurca Short Description: Just replace all instances of "Vaurca Breeder" with "Vaurca Gyne". How will this be reflected on-station?: The only tangible effect it will have on gameplay is selecting the subspecies in chargen and examining characters. Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: Echoing what I said on my accidental suggestion thread, changing the name of the subspecies will make them less susceptible to "mommy" and other sexual jokes, and just remove the overall discomfort associated with the connotations of being a "breeder". Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team? I do, and it doesn't bother me as long as the name is changed in the end. Long Description (will be copypasting my suggestion thread for this): At the risk of the cries of Kharmaani reference, I do think that Breeders could benefit from a name change due to the connotations associated with being called a "breeder", and there have been discussions here and there to that effect. According to YourDictionary, a gyne is: Which, while not fully accurate to the Vaurcan hierarchy, given that Breeders help reproduce as well but are not (yet) Queens, is still a lot better in my opinion.

Change "Vaurca Breeder" to "Vaurca Gyne"
FearTheBlackout replied to FearTheBlackout's topic in Archive
I've been reminded that this is more of a lore-side than dev-side thing so this can be closed, deleted, whatever you want. -

Misiek's Command Application, The Sequel
FearTheBlackout replied to Misiek1001's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I think that Misiek has great characters that always add something positive to the manifest, and I see no reason why they shouldn't be whitelisted! +1 -
I don't see anything wrong with giving some official job status to characters who want to do this kind of work. I think it would be fun to service people as this job or be serviced by them as well. I honestly have felt that the Service department has been remiss in something or another since Service Manager was removed for unrelated reasons.

I think that Lorilili has been a wonderful and important part of Aurora ever since I rejoined, and the depth of their characters and presence on Discord proves that. Interacting with Tsisana in more recent times has been especially enjoyable with regards to my character, Claudia, and others of mine, but any character they play in a given round is always a positive addition to the round. I don't have any doubts that they would do well as a Command player. +1!

Unathi whitelist | MrLenny
FearTheBlackout replied to MrLenny's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Lenny is a joy to talk to, and beyond that, he was very good about asking questions about Unathi lore, and asking for my input as well. I like the thought he's put into his character and I can't wait to see what kinds of situations she'll face on the Horizon. Therefore, it's a +1! -
1. Song, while not necessarily a "puritan" of the Orthodox Eternal, finds the other sects, on both ends, to not be in line with the doctrine that the Orthodox Eternal presents: The Iron Eternal, particularly, tends to be supportive of synthetics, something that Song, from their time growing up in the Nralakk Federation, finds abhorrent. They also worry that the Eternity Shard itself may just end in a repeat of the era of Glorsh-Omega, one of the worst things to ever happen to their Skrellian kin. The Blood Eternal, conversely, is something they associate with vile and violent folk from places like the Viscera-Belt, their feelings on which will be more explained below in my second answer, but ultimately, it is something that they shy away from heavily, as they consider it incompatible with the more traditional educational methods that Dionae of the Federation undergo. 2. Looping Song, thanks to their Federation education and indoctrination, believes, even if not verbally, that Federation Dionae are the "betters" of their kind, especially those that come from the Conglomerated Choir of Nralakk like themselves. In this regard, they are not very humble when talking to other, non-Federation Dionae, but still willing to observe their viewpoints to a degree, because of their scientifically-minded development. In regards to their kin in Epsilon Ursae Minoris, they find them mostly agreeable thanks to their ties to the Federation, aside from those that practice the Iron Eternal. Dionae from the Coalition or frontier, such as the Wild Ones, are strange and undeserving of their attention, while they are more happy to work with Dionae from Biesel, save for those from the Viscerabelt due to their chaotic ways and their following of the Blood Eternal.

For what it counts, I haven't seen Camo's characters in play as frequently recently, but like he said, he has more availability now. I think that Comoe is the spitting image of an Eridanian officer, and I see no reason for either he or Abdul to not be able to be promoted. Camo also has a lot of involvement in the community with talking about lore and making PRs. It's a +1 from me, dawg.

BYOND Key: SimpleMaroon Character Names: (in order from, currently, most played to least played) Claudia Arcavius, Petra Romanovich, Tomasa Garrido Species you are applying to play: Diona Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yep! Why do you wish to play this specific race: Dionaea were one of my more favorited species back on Baystation, but unlike there, the Dionae here have a great deal of lore to them that means they can have a lot of different backgrounds. I think having a chance to play a character semi-similar to the concept I had on Bay, while still staying unique of course, is going to be a lot of fun. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Dionae are, obviously, alien at their core, both in biology and behavior: A grown gestalt is not just one person, but many beings at the same time working together. Because of this, they are forced to have different rights and privileges across the Spur at large, including chipping nymphs and the difference in corporate regulations involving crimes against the species. Character Name: The Looping Song of Deep-Bedded Roots The Looping Song of Deep-Bedded Roots, or Looping Song or just Song for short, is a 175-year old Geras Diona and citizen of the Nralakk Federation. Born from the Conglomerated Choir of Nralakk, they are afforded respect within their field of pharmacology, and work for Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals. They are composed of six Diona nymphs, and stand at 4'8", on par with the Skrell they have lived alongside. They have lighter bark due to growing up primarily on Qerrbalak, and their mindtype is Competence Choir. Having resided in Eriuyushi on Qerrbalak, they aren't a stranger to underwater life. They enjoy the privileges of a Diona on the higher-end of being a High Secondary or Oqi, with a Social Credit Score of 6.53. This is because of their good education after they had a chance to study at the Aliose University of Medical Sciences, and because they were raised by a quya and follow the Orthodox Eternal. Song, overall, believes in the ideals of competence and loyalty, especially to the Federation that so kindly hosts them. They are, like their peers, anti-synthetic, and aspire to be like their idols. They enjoy their work with Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals, and thus aspire to strictness, perfection, and discipline in their work. They have more respect for humans who have had involvement with the Nralakk Federation, but they respect all humans and other species well enough to work on the Horizon. What do you like about this character? I'm a large, large fan of characters from or that have involvement with the Federation, as you probably know if you've seen me play Claudia. I think this character concept is a cool way to have a character who's cemented in the Federation while stile having a unique position within it, them being a Diona. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Assessing myself, I'd probably say my roleplaying ability is average to somewhere above average; I think I am usually working with my characters to maintain an interesting narrative, and I keep to the in-character rules and avoid annoying or elitist behavior. Notes: As mentioned to Yonnimer while I was asking questions on the lorecord, I did have a Diona with a similar name on Baystation, but was told this was okay, and of course they are a lot different from the character back then, Aurora having unique lore as it does.

Sneakyranger Command Whitelist
FearTheBlackout replied to Sneakyranger's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Sneaky is overall very capable of giving out orders and delegating properly as their Chief Engineer. They also gave me actions to actually carry out as my Bridge Crewman, something that most Heads don't do or think about. I also just really enjoy every character of theirs that I've interacted with. +1! -
Gabby's Warble Arc Is Now (Skrell App)
FearTheBlackout replied to FearTheBlackout's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
1. Urna lived in fear of Glorsh for decades until its disappearance; having been given the X'Lu'oa (genophage) at a young age, they still feel the effects of that era to this day. When prompted to speak on those days, they will most likely be taciturn due to their trauma, as well as their dislike of speaking on synthetics in general, attributing Glorsh's actions to their sterility. 2. While not devout by any means, Urna is still a convicted follower of Qeblak, and took the time to go to services in their local Observatory Dome, including in Nral'Daaq during their time in the CT-EUM, which likely may not have been as extravagant as elsewhere, but serviceable for their needs. They had no chance of joining the clergy due to their average psionic ability, but they still follow the doctrines of Qeblak to the best of their ability. 3. Urna was always a fan of Swimstars, due to the relatability of college life; however, they do not enjoy it as much as they could, because of the human protagonist. They were an active user of Viv-ID, and will remain as such during their time on the Horizon, believing in the effectiveness of the algorithm. As far as food goes, they prefer to stick to authentic Skrellian cuisine (or at least what passes for authentic, on the Horizon), enjoying the taste of aqoliz in particular, as well as nycii. Of course, they are always sure to eat Mon, as per their culture and belief in good health. 4. Urna has always been loyal to the Federation, seeing it as a matter of normalcy. They take little interest in the subversive elements of the Traverse, as such. Of course, some may question why they flocked to the CT-EUM so suddenly, and why they take such a strong interest in Dionae, which may or may not affect them down the line. In the end, however, they are strictly openly pro-Federation. -
BYOND Key: SimpleMaroon Character Names: Most currently played character include Claudia Arcavius, Yanna Trevidic, and Ziv Blum Species you are applying to play: Skrell (Axiori) What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Dark green Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I've read a good deal of it all in the past, and am currently focusing down the points I want to incorporate into my character! Why do you wish to play this specific race: I recently had a good experience, being brought into the Srom as my character, Arcavius. It made me realize that Skrell have a lot going on for them, and that I'd like to be part of that and experiment with the different cultures and origins. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Skrell have a far longer history than humanity, and their psychology is developed around that. They are often pursuited to innovation and discovery, at their core (at least as far as the Federation goes), and biologically, their amphibious and psionic nature defines them as a unique species among the rest. The different phases of their lives also take place over a much longer span than humans, up to 500 years with proper medical care. Character Name: Urna Alagog Please provide a short backstory for this character Urna is a Receiver Axiori, born in Oibuish in 2152, March 2nd. Because of their home city, they were brought up to be more distrustful of synths than most after the Weilshi Sea Crisis. Having decided they would go into medicine during coming-of-age, they immigrated to Aliose, where they studied at the AUMS for Depth College, becoming a Qro'vesi. They would go on to practice in Haq'tola'zlip, even providing services at the Veteran's Lodge, before deciding to take their studies of biology in a different direction: They took an interest in the Dionae students coming to and going from Aliose, even forming a partnership with The Success of The Stalwart Many, who intended to study at the AUMS themselves after passing through Hap'tola'zlip. Saying farewell to their new partner while they studied, they flew to the fledgling nation of CT-EUM in 2392, studying the cultures of a couple of the independent city-states, including the Gleaners of Bliss and the Zilm Choir, as well as reading the Deathflower Journal in their spare time. They would also collect citizenship for the CT-EUM during this time, remaining in Nral'Daaq for a few years while their partner finished their studies, writing letters back and forth between them until Success was able to fly to the CT-EUM themselves, whereafter they would remain for several decades until the 2460's, wherein they would join the Horizon mission, with Urna beginning work exchange through Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals as a physician. Due to their status as a practicing physician, their status as a follower of Qeblak, as well as their studies in the CT-EUM, their SCS is a respectable 6.37 as of their arrival on the Horizon. They have a profound respect for Dionae, with a far bigger misunderstanding and mistrust of humans and other species, besides the C'thur. They will be talkative, not always to the benefit of themselves, and preferable to the company of other Jargon or CT-EUM citizens. What do you like about this character? Much of Urna's interactions, I think, will revolve around their appreciation of and knowledge of Dionae, including their very own Qu'Poxxi. There aren't, to my knowledge, many at all instances of Skrell on-ship who have any involvement with the CT-EUM as well, which I think will make for great discussion with others. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Very good, in lieu of a 1-10 rating. I think I can fulfill a character's goals, desires, and behaviors well, and keep them separate and unique from each other while still being interesting. Notes: Urna will be the Zeng-Hu physician that exchanges with Claudia Arcavius, my current medical character, for the purposes of her starting work in the Federation on Aliose. As such, they will have met her through holocall and known a few things about her, albeit not much. I hope this is acceptable for the purpose of the application.

Just want to reinforce that Nol is deserving of the whitelist; their character, Julia, is pleasant to talk to, and runs the Medbay well and efficiently. -
Nol wants to rule medbay (Command App)
FearTheBlackout replied to Nol4's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Nol has a great cast of characters, all fun to interact with. On Aurora, they've cemented themselves as a good Medical player and an even greater friend of Claudia with several of their characters, and several of the situations we've dealt with together have been memorable. They know how to be clever and witty with speech, and overall I would call them 100% fit for Command. +1! -
Type (e.g. Planet, Faction, System): Faction symbols (Techno-Conglomerate) Short Description: (flag) (accent icon) How will this be reflected on-station?: The accent will be used by individuals from the Techno-Conglomerate, most likely just off-worlders and IPCs. The flag could potentially be made into an in-game item like other banners and put into the loadout down the line, either by me or someone else. Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: Yes; I think that, without providing an entire expansion of the Techno-Conglomerate's lore, adding some imagery to the faction would go a long way toward livening it up to begin with. Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways that you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team? Absolutely. I am also happy for any modifications to either symbol to be made down the line, and would even be willing to hand over the project file for the flag or the .dmi for the accent icon in case the lore team wants to make any changes themselves. Long Description: For the Techno-Conglomerate's flag, the black represents the void of space, the gray its technological reserves, and the light blue chevron its traveling as a fleet. The triangles represent the Council of Ten, and the red triangle represents the Balbo. The small circles represent the fleet's myriad smaller ships. For the accent tag, it is meant to represent a helix or lattice. Its working description is: "TCs ((Techno-Conglomerate citizens)) are highly accustomed to living and working among synthetics, and this reflects even in their speech: A take on the Frontiersfolk accent, but duller and more robotic in comparison to their Xanusian counterparts."

just adding my experience as someone who did play Service Manager a fair amount during the test runs and was originally an advocate for it: i'll echo most of what was said here, but also say that it only really seems enjoyable to actually play for a certain niche audience. the various service jobs are too stratified to have a manager who can really teach you anything outside of their own field of experience, and if they can then at that point you just become a jack-of-all-trades, which is kind of lame for anyone who arrives late or gets filled in for when they're not around; therefore the Service Manager's teaching capacity is limited, and Service as a whole is, as said above, generally autonomous. i found myself losing steam to play the role fairly quickly after i started, and even backtracked on making my bartender character into a manager like i planned, simply because it couldn't maintain my interest for long. i'd say rolling Service management back into the XO's duties would be better in the long run.

BYOND Key: SimpleMaroon Discord Username: FearTheB#3307 Character Name: Yanna Trevidic Item Name: Techno-Conglomerate CR dress Item Function(s): It is a uniform, very similar in design to other CR wear, but with the added capability of glowing brighter or duller on the chest based on the wearer's emotional intensity (to be selected via a radial menu, similar to the Elyran holoclothes). Item Description: A sky blue-colored comfort-and-relaxation dress designed for off-worlders. This one is made to Techno-Conglomerate specifications, with sensors outlined across the ribcage that grow brighter or duller based on the wearer's emotional intensity. Why is your character bringing this item to work?: Yanna would like to better express her culture, one not often talked about or seen, to the world around her. Because she wears a starveil, which partially blocks the face, it also helps her express her mood better to people. How did your character obtain this item?: It is common wear aboard her ship of birth, the TCS Effigy. It combines standard offworlder CR wear with technology, something the Techno-Conglomerate prides itself on quite heavily. What value does this item have to your character, and what story does it tell?: Yanna is proud of her origin as a TC (what I like to call people from the Techno-Conglomerate for short), and not only does this show her nationality as such, but it also shows her origin as an off-worlder, born and raised. It will gain curiosity from people who see the sensors and allow her to explain more about her history with the Techno-Conglomerate. Sprites: (the .dmi is already made, pending any changes that need to be made code-wise. My current idea is to have the sensor part as an overlay.) Additional Comments: I acknowledge that this could potentially be a loadout item for the Techno-Conglomerate and wouldn't mind making it such with approval; however, given there is no precedent for it in lore, and I like to think it an item specific to Yanna's ship (that may have some popularity in some of the ships around it), I thought it would be more appropriate to make it a custom item instead. Feel free to let me know if you think a loadout item would be better (or not having it at all). I have also already done a portion of the code required for this to work, and will be finishing it pending when and if the item is approved. Thanks for reading!
