Noting for the billionth time of someone buckling themselves into a chair, simply so it can turn with them, I wonder why we haven't bothered to function in a sit command. As if it's use isn't obvious, it's purpose would be to anchor someone to a chair, but also allow being pulled off, and what not. The reason is plain as watching someone do that awkward jig to try and match their turning with a chair, or getting the idea that most Doctors can't sit in chairs without apparently falling off every time they spin. Obviously, this might be a lot of coding for nothing at all, but turn me sideways and call me an apple fritter, (???) I despise all the buckling, like we are some kind of bondage dungeon.

As the seventy third time this has been suggested, I will give my ninety fourth agreement on the removal of genetics, or it's reworking to not involve people being shitty X-men all shift. The organ Idea is interesting, I'll admit, but how viable it will be, if even coded, is a thing I am somewhat wary of. Firstmost, it would involve changing up surgery somewhat, and making people learn new things, which players from other servers would most likely not realize exist, and spend a great amount of time poking peoples innards in an attempt to fix another drunken assistant's kidney. Secondly, we'd be sort of buggering over Surgery in some aspects, and completely ruining the point of Peridaxon. If this is worth the cost of removing the blight known as Genetics from the server, then so be it. Nevertheless, I'd be sorry for the surgeon having to replace dozens of kidneys a shift. Still, I'd approve, IF someone can code this.

I like this, if it means theres some actual loss to firing a gun constantly. On a side note, having this occur for explosions would also be useful.

The Great Black Man Dancing with Chicken Singularity incident of Apollo. What old ass things do you remember that other people may.

People not realizing that the genetics thing was a joke. And as far as I am aware, the CMO has room in their office for a intercom. Thirdly, Security isnt always available/full of people who are actually good at it. So it's a variable I don't really like when another variable can cause people to start spreading a virus that causes you to explode.

Medical looks NICE, right now. I admit it. I like it. Shame we lack Biohazard shutters. In case you were not aware, person reading this while scratching their own rear end, (Yes I can see you doing it, stop that. You dirty dirty thing, you.) We currently lack an actual way to keep people IN medical, during any time in which viruses are a-plenty. This leads to people presuming that they are fine, leaving, spreading the virus and then leading to more deaths, which are not particularly amusing. As such, I'd suggest a second button in the CMO office that causes shutters to drop on the entrances to medical. (As well, I'd move the button off the desk since it is clipping through things constantly.) This would assist somewhat in stopping every joe schmoe from wandering off with Rhumba. Secondly, the CMO office lacks a intercom. That is all for that. Thirdly, the two doors that separate the Cryo beakers and the sleepers are silly, and just slow things down, in my not so humble opinion. Fourthly, Remove genetics. That is all.

The question is, are you using those first sprites that straight up look like fucking Power Ranger minions? Cause the ones that were posted recently look WAAAY better (No offense to whoever did the first).

As Nik's reminder of the day, Wizard exists due to leftovers from the original plan of this code, a more Tolkien fantasy based game. This was scrapped due to reasons only Exadv himself would know, but I imagine cause it might have been shit. Saying Wizard can be done right is much like saying ANYTHING can be done right. It's RP. You can RP heavy bondage right, if you had the brains and the...balls. Sadly, this is not what I see of wizard ever. I either see "No guys, it's cool, i'm friendly wizard *steals objective instantly and continues with this lie*" or "I AM BIG DICK THE MAGNIFICANT, EAT HORSE HEAD" or "I've made my dumb wizard name my regular characters name so that I can easily blend it because people know me, and I'll just use jaunt to essentially be a OP Traitor" Sure, we do get the occasional brilliant RP of wizard. But it's like 1/20 wizards. It doesn't help that no one has bothered to ever re-sprite wizards to have a more original look, or that they are essentially just DnD nerds with a magic book, but they aren't exactly ripe with choice. They are ripe with horse heads. Lots of them.

Anything but a single room thats about 70% water tile sounds good to me.
-
But you don't see lazy people walking through the toilets with no regard that they exist. And I see that happen nearly every other shift. It's butts, man.
-
Shit is useless. people walk through it and break my immersion. MY IMMERSION DAMN IT. It's just a stupid water texture over the tile.

Sadi Disjal: More of a Tail then a Tale
Nik replied to Nik's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I'll avoid questioning my own questioning. Although I do find your way of speaking adorable, Pumpking. Firstly, Rai, as said before, has and never was particularly sexually, and more importantly, genderly set in her ways. This was a choice made IC and ooc with other players, and was discussed at length on station. She eventually decided that a female body would be more interesting, and that she always somewhat felt like being female would be more generally pleasant in a way that she couldn't explain. However, at some point in the future, and event occurred off station that killed her. During her cloning, she had made to escape mid-way through the cloning (Due to not recognizing the location and the cloning vat she had been inside not properly keeping her under throughout the process.) and falling out of a window on the second story of said hospital. This, and being out of the cloning treatment for a deal of time, left her with three malformed bones. Specifically, the right arm, left leg and coccyx (I'll not bother labeling the specific bones). As well, her liver and right kidney were slowly shutting down also due to the escape attempt. But the most violent of issues caused by brief stint outside of the cloning vats, was the damage was done on the most basic of genetic levels. As such, she could not be properly cloned again to solve the concern with the "Severrrrly shitty body" During the next month, she continued working, under severe watch and daily mental checks (and with the use of a cane) before eventually realizing that she was going to die a far less pleasant and shorter death then she hoped. She spent the next two days eating ice cream, cake, and anything else sweet, and trying to decide whether suicide or seeking a new body was a better decision. However, multiple IC opinions led her to decide on the second rather then the first. At this, she employed the assistance of a Geneticist IC to create her a, and I quote "Farrr less fucked to the nines bodies", and out of a whim had them finaggle her to have a different fur colour (A spur of the moment choice that she has admitted several times was a poor one) and was successfully transplated into the secondary body. She spent the next month in rehab, learning to functionally use this new body while taking drugs to offset the body rejecting her brain, and gene treatments to attempt to slowly cause the Currently, she takes a drug to keep the body from rejecting her, and continues to see a therapist weekly to assure that she will not relapse into a depressed state. I would like to think that the above situation was not absurd by any means, specifically relating to a character who is simply apathetic to many situations and concepts, much like gender. Unless being a transvestite is some form of concern, or her having made a spur of the moment desicions while under the influence of Tramadol that the colour brown would be "Morrre appealing to keep carrre of", I can retconn either of these things if this is somehow a problem, I suppose. Raieed and Rai are essentially the same person, but with a few added bits or removed bits. As for "Occurring" again, this was specific occurrences for a single character, who is also notable for having at one point stolen the HOS's porn and created a memorial to it (All as an objective as a antagonist, I might add). I sincerly doubt every one of my characters is going to decide that they wish to become the opposite gender and then decide a new body is in order. On a actual note, all of these medical happen-hap's were agreed to be fine by some person or another. Who, I can't tell you, it's been awhile. Secondly, I will quote Skull on this, but I was told how to name a Unathi "By smashing your hands on the keyboard". I did such, as the wiki lacks any article on the naming scheme of Unathi, and I presumed using another Wiki would be a poor choice. As such, I just went with what I ended up with "Saodi Didsal" and worked with it. but I decided on Sadi, a vaguely human name that could serve easily enough, and Disjal as a random so and so alien name. This can easily be changed, although I am fond of the name Sadi. Thirdly, I would have posted all that, but I am suppose to keep it short and decided against it. This can be rectified. Sadi's love of science came from a Skrellian merchant, who had decided that selling random baubles and basic pieces of Skrell tech to unathi would be a simple way to live their life. After said Skrell had successfully insulted every single Unathi in a five mile radius, and had fled with nothing but his ship and his pants, Sadi had quite happily...acquired many of the foolish merchant's possessions. In particular, she had found a video player that possessed a great many tapes on plasma research, Telescience, and the work done on stations much like Aurora. From there, she began studying any and every thing relating to the word science, and eventually was able to enroll in a school situated on Biesel, mostly due to her parents pleasure in their daughter wanting to be a rich scientist (They may or may not actually understand what a scientist is, but they were supporting nonetheless.) Her attempts to get off of Moghes is specifically around her displeasure of her own races attitude. She is not fond of the attitude around clans and how others are treated, and the general lack of intelligence and knowledge in the multiple ways that the other races have reached. (Once again, the Wiki is sufficently lacking in any actual information on how the culture of a city or tribe works, or their level of technology, so I'm improvising by making no specific statements on what they have) -
Can we all just step back and say how fucking awful genetics is, then, and how we are all great and have giant bits and bobs and can make up better concepts then genetics within the span of a few minutes. But I like that idea. I also like my less OP bacteria super power idea, but I like the other one way more. However, it sounds like it will be on those things where the jobbers doing it will have nothing cool to call their own. Engineers get to feel accomplished about keeping the entire sodding station running, doctors get to be smug about keeping idiots alive after they've fried their own testicles off with a laser rifle, Security gets to keep said idiots away from the crew, cargo gets pizza... What do these Microbiologist's get?

BYOND Key: Nikolai The Beast Character Names: Rai Amari / Nikolai Petirosky / Jasri Bassi How long have you been playing on Aurora: Since Conception, on and off again. Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Diona exempt): Red (darkish red, preferably.) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, and I noted an incorrect sentence. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I see too few of any aliens, and currently I am the only player who seems to prefer alien races. As such, I'd like another race to use for roleplay, and particularly, a female unathi, as I feel a stern and stout unathi scientist lady would be amusing, and interesting. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Besides for the basic physical differences, aliens possess an entirely different view point on all situations, and will act in such ways. Each alien is obviously limited to being a humanoid, but their culture, upbringing and personalities can and will vary wildly from a humans. Why does this species in particular hold your interest? I see very few good Unathi. Sadly, I see so few that I can name the interesting ones off one hand. Mostly, I find that they are overly angry or stout in all matters. As such, I'd like to play one and increase the number of good Unathi to six. Seven, if I count that one who ate someone else. Character Name: Sadi Disjal. Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Born and Raised on Moghes, Sadi has lived a simple life of attempting to get off of Moghes as quickly as physically possible. Possessing a love of science, she has studied hard and sternly to attempt to gain employment on another races vessel, in an attempt to find meaning in her life, which she hopes to find in scientific research and discovery. She is currently staying in a small apartment on Biesel, and has spent the last six months attempting to appropriate human culture, to better assist herself with working with them. This has not been particularly successful, and she may have somehow ended up with even less of a understanding of human culture. However, she is eager, willing, and has very sharp teeth, so don't even you dirty pervert. What do you like about this character? She feels like a fun and simple character who will have plenty of things to do with, and will be a pleasant change of pace from my usual nonsense as Rai.

I personally think it would be silly if we could combine things from separate planets, given that they're, well, utterly separate genetically, but for things from a single biosphere I think this could be interesting. I do think different combinations of bacteria could be very useful. Like biological nanomachines. That, might be interesting. Make them give very minor and basic buffs, and make players only able to obtain one of them at a time. Like, speed (hyperzine levels), hunger, regeneration of superficial wounds, noise like that

[Volunteers Needed] Central Command Duty Officers
Nik replied to Skull132's topic in Completed Projects
Even if it isn't at CC, I am still up for it, unlike Ahelps, this is IC, so if someone starts swearing in the faxes, or otherwise being unpleasant, CC can just return their messages, send a fax to their higher up (if they have one), or other IC punishments. "Central Command has docked you pay for the time interval of two months, due to your assertion that Central Command Duty Officers are mastubatery aids." I love those. "Central Command has placed a large bounty upon whomever stuck Ian in the washer. Reward will be paid upon arrival at Centcomm with the body or bodies." -
This has made me want to make a Unathi.

Several concepts are an option for that thing that dun been posted above this, and I would dearly want this to become a priority. My personal desire would be the making organs and meaty bits thing, but additionally having the capability to create hybrid and unique creatures with enough effort and time. Several options to set this up comes to mind, including a simple menu of adding different gene's together (all of which would be set, and nonsense letter combinations). For a quick example. BG + SZ, plus some meat in the machine might make a cat. Or something. But anything would be more suitable. Sadly. I really like the IDEA of genetic's, but it's purpose IC is sillypants.

I try so sodding hard to keep things busy in game. I will do illegal things, pick fights, goad people, ANYTHING, in an attempt to get anything occurring IC. It doesn't always succeed. in fact, it usually doesn't. The complicated solution is to re-design the map to force more social interactions. Less path's, more chances to encounter people. However, that's a lot of work.

Here's the thing. unless we start banning people for doing this, it won't stop. Ever. Powers, in themselves, have little to no ACTUAL value in roleplay. What they are is a specific set of tools that can be used to empower players to assist with poor situations. In actuality, they are used by people who are bored and want to be OP, griefers and random huckaberries. Ignoring the fifteen people who will yell about being responsible, the entire role of this job is simply to make THEMSELVES into genetic gods. I despise it. Making them more dangerous really wouldn't stop them, they'd just ask for a lot of med's from chemistry to offset any damage they take. As per annum, It won't stop. If people can manipulate a system to give themselves an advantage, they will. It's one of the most basic human natures. In my opinion, at least.

Some random chatting in OOC reminded me of something, so lets try having a discussion. Mostly, that Gore/death is somehow considered alright for the younger, but sex isn't, and how we have all generally become use to gore. Now, to make a simple point of things, I'll use Legend of Korra. This is a show following the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender (no, not the blue ones), and is about the new Avatar, Korra, going on adventures. And sometimes those adventures involve people's head's exploding. Now, as a minor spoiler, this is something that occurs in the third book. So, maybe not read this bit if you are for some reason interested in this show. For whatever reason's, a battle arises between the main protagonist and antagonist parties, and one of the Antagonist's, who can do this weird explosion thingy with a tattoo on her forehead, gets this done to her. Now, to be fair, they do cut away at this exact moment, and grace us with a shot of her lover's face as he gets to watch pink goop leak from the seal of her sudden change in fashionable hats. They don't really cut away for this, however. To clarify, that's the queen of the Earth Nation having the air sucked out of her lungs. but the scene goes on for nearly a minute and a half, as the antagonist essentially sits there, jerking off about how righteous and awesome he is while she struggles to catch her breath, more likely then not soiling herself in the process. Now, you'd think this gets AT LEAST a PG-13. Maybe even something above that. Oh, wait, its TV-Y7, meaning it's meant for wee babies. Alas, something with the mildest of sexual implications can get banned in Australia (The cheeky buggers), an M (or whatever suitable rating system for wherever you are currently in the process of existing in) or shoved into the adult section to be hidden under a counter. I'd source examples, but there as so many that I don't really need to, just go find your movie collection and look at the labels. But, hey, this is my opinion. come agree or disagree. lets make this sodding forums actually be in use.

[Volunteers Needed] Central Command Duty Officers
Nik replied to Skull132's topic in Completed Projects
An interesting concept, but some rules may need to be placed for them, and having some form of basis that they need to be using. Because one man's RP is another mans annoyance, and so on. I'd volunteer, I suppose. -
I entirely forgot about it. So. yeah.

I suppose I'll show up as Rai Amari, but I doubt she'll side with one or another group.
