... can we have whatever organ this is be usable in the deconstructive analyzer? Have it give biotech 5/6 or something like that? That would be evil, and awesome.

I think it's missing a pipe under the window.

The crux of the issue with TK's actions leading in was their self-antagging and acting like a dick when not an antagonist. To the point where they were usurping the legitimate antagonists of the round. (Literally, at one point, making me ask if it was REV when I had SEEN THE WIZARD in one round in question!) This isn't a case of self-antagging. TK was a legitimate traitor in this event. Traitors need to be given room to act within that role. A talking-too about excessive force? Maybe. An antagonist ban? Also maybe due to history. But the claims of Ganking and EoR as initially stated are honestly unfounded in my eyes. Neither of those rules were outright broken as far as I can tell.
-
Even better. Set the damage threshold high enough to make it extremely unwise. I'd say something like 50 brute or fire damage to trigger the synap/hyperzine release.
-
Considering TK's actions all round (again, they had murdered multiple people by admission while in that suit. They had sabotaged the station. They were acting violent for most of the round as well!) If anything I would call violently assaulting Ana the climax of the story. While perhaps a little excessive, it certainly was a fantastic highlight and finishing statement to make. It could have been done better, but as far as conflict climaxes go it just... doesn't seem that off. They certainly were well past the point of establishing their character. Now I can't get this image of a person running around in a chicken suit, slamming people into walls as they try to make their escape (and are then dogpiled by everyone and their cat)

I miss deadhour. It's nice to have rounds where things aren't always exploding in every direction all the time. Alas, my work schedule prohibits. Blasted work.

I would disagree slightly. Taking Ana could very well be classified as taking her hostage depending on TK's intent, which hasn't been commented on by the player in question yet. Leaving Ana behind would have opened her to getting taken down by a full-out manhunt. For all we know she did not intend to kill, but to incapacitate. It can be quite difficult to tell if someone is going into paincrit or not without a HUD. Also as far as I can glean, she attempted to run through escape (which is very close to where the fight started) and was downed there. TK could have intended to leave Ana as soon as Lauren was clear of persuit. We simply cannot assume to know what was intended. If I'm reading correctly, she had force gloves. Essentially power gauntlets that drastically increase the force a person can apply to a target. I don't see it terribly unrealistic for someone equipped as such to be smashing another against a wall as the run. I cannot disagree more with this sentiment. Until the shuttle docks, it is fully within an antagonist's rights to resist incarceration. Once the shuttle docks then all conflict ceases and both sides need to stand down completely (No arrests for security, no fighting for antags). Neither side should special dispensation simply because the transfer is happening soon I wouldn't do so either, but I disagree with holding a normal player to a higher standard. Unless antagonists are whitelisted (something I am vehemently against!) holding them to a higher standard is simply unacceptable. Doubly so if security is not held up to the same standard. Setting a double standard is perhaps the least honest thing one can do when on is dealing with a player vs player situation.

Your illogical thought process and hostility is dumbfounding. 1. She was antagonist, who had provided conflict for the entirety of the round. 2. Security (Centurion) had moved to arrest her. 3. She responded to the arrest attempt by attacking you, using what tools she had on her person. It isn't even an overreaction, it was a natural progression. Escalated quickly? Perhaps. That said, she was in her right to resist arrest. It is unfortunate that you were injured by an antagonist during this resisting. which you have utterly ignored by going off on some random tangent about pAI directives which is irrelevant to what I am trying to say. A mistake, actually, I was looking at the wrong thread. Either way, this still is not the same. She was actively resisting arrest in this case, as opposed to beating up someone who was letting her out of the cell. You were simply unfortunate enough to be targeted during that resisting. I do not agree with or like many of TK's actions, but in this case they simply didn't break any rules.

She was being arrested. Ergo, security was a threat to her. You could have done that on :s, there was no need to be directly present. Exactly what happened in this scenario. Didn't say a word, didn't register any outside forces, repeatedly face-slammed an officer while dragging them along into a room full of people where they knew they'd get caught for nothing but the sole purpose of going out of his way to ruin someone's enjoyment. I don't know how you can see it as anything else. The hooliganism quote is irrelevant as Blade was not self-antagging here. The second quote was in a complaint about GIVING A pAI A SHITTY DIRECTIVE, it is not relevant here as you were on a force directly opposing her She was an antagonist. Centurion was trying to arrest her (abeit, peacefully). You were present as another officer, and thus part of the arrest (abeit, not intentionally on your part.) You got beat up because she is an antagonist doing what antagonists do when someone tries to arrest them. Had I been present as Nasir, I'd not have objected had she done what she did to you to me. I have a history of taking Lauren down, and my character is often armed or able to arm himself very quickly. Part of the risk of playing a security, command, or vigilantie character is that you will occasionally be taken down in an unfair way. What she did was not a gank, nor EOR grief. It may have been excessive force, at most, but as an antagonist her job is to create conflict.
-
You had no reason to be in that area, except that there had been mention of an arrest in maint. If you were going to back up centurion, that is fine. However once again: You became an active participant in the arrest by virtue of your role and department. Were you an officer, or an investigator? As the latter, I sincerely doubt you did not have your gun holstered on your person. As the former you had ample tools on your belt to fight back with as well. As any other role you would have more of a leg to stand on for gank accusations. However frankly, you were a security member involved with an arrest. You were a valid target. The fact that you were not killed weakens your stance even further.
-
The round had not yet ended. The shuttle had not arrived. An antagonist is not obligated to roll over and be cuffed just because they are in escape. By attempting arrest, Centurion opened the opportunity for conflict. By being present and armed you were de facto involved with the arrest. She also sabotaged several areas and killed a few people, according to what she said. She was the antagonist, and she was creating conflict. She had been doing so most of the round, and it persisted while the shuttle had not yet docked. When you attempt arrest, you open yourself to conflict. To repeat: 1. The shuttle had not yet arrived. EoR does NOT apply until the shuttle has docked. Your complaints on EoR grief have no grounds. 2. Centurion, and by extension you (by your presence) had attempted arrest. As an antagonist TK was within their rights to resist. You were also armed with lethals by virtue of your job. Your complaints on gank have no grounds. I will not argue that TK is the best player in the history of ever, or that their antagonist play is flawless. However, No rules were broken in this instance. You are mad that you got killed. Man up. Deal with it.

Centurion had held up cuffs and stated she was under arrest. That is pretty exactly provocation.

This complaint isn't about general behavior. This complaint is about actions taken while Lauren was an antagonist. The presence of force gloves, and her prior murders, both highlighted this. In this instance, an officer was arresting Lauren. Who was a traitor who had committed murder as well as several other crimes throughout the round. The logs themselves very clearly state that Centurion was attempting an arrest prior to the shuttle. Her reaction was to initiate a fight with security, which as an antagonist she is in the right to do. Ana is a member of security. Virtually always an armed and dangerous one. As investigator she has a lethal weapon, and if a security officer she would be armed with a taser. Not only this, but Ana is notorious for shooting to kill in altercations. Ana was a clear and present threat in an antagonist-related fight, and Lauren removed her from play due to that fact. I see no grounds for this complaint being valid. It is not a gank to defend oneself from security as an antagonist, doubly so when the person in question is not only well-known for killing antagonists but often gloats about it. While I do agree that Lauren's non-antagonist play needs work, in this situation she was a traitor. She killed an officer/detective who was responding to an arrest. There was nothing wrong with what she did in this instance.

Eh, not really. Aurora regulars are actually far more inclined to violence than Bay regulars from my experience with both servers. Baymins tend to hand out bans and jobbans much quicker as a whole than Aurora as well. You are biased and haven't played there in some time. If anything, our security are just more likely to shoot you. Nothing else really. Also, the warden rarely has "nothing to do" if they are actually doing their jobs. Paperwork, armory handling, managing brig supplies and maintenance, and prisoner handling. If anything I tend to see them need help more than anything else.
-
Having seen this in action: If your warden is not literally 100% on point this does not work well at all. You end up with people permabrigged for hooliganism and murderers killing other inmates. It's really not as good of an idea as it sounds. Take the current permabrig events that normally happen, multiply them by three, and double the number of people there who are not security. That is what you are proposing.

Yes, and everyone on-board works at the secure, secret research facility. We're all playing NT employees here, like many of whom have signed NDAs and such. I see no issue, ICly or OOCly, with involving more station staff into science.

Maybe what we need are actual bullets! As in shooting the idiots! In the face! It'll totally work, who's with me? Let's do a witch hunt the right'n'proper way! No! no! no! NOT THE FACE! I NEED THAT TO TALK!

Voyd2000's Tajaran Whitelist Application
Jamini replied to Voyd2000's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Even to people I've known for years on other servers, I normally suggest playing at least a few rounds as a normal human on Aurora. If only so that people get to meet you and know you. I'd be worried that Kanza would be "too human", which is not a statement I make often. However, nonhumans growing up in human households always have me on-edge. It is not easy to play a character in such a situation that is really distinctive. Why don't you play humans? -
1. They are a general-access means for the standard crewmember to defend themselves against bad officers. They are two sides of the same equation. If we crack down on officers who are outright bad, the need for civilian-based stunning weaponry goes down. If security gear receives a reduction in power, the need for civilian weaponry goes down. 2. I use them as self-defense, generally, or to break up fights instigated by security or not being resolved by security. Much like I would a standard flash on a non-security member acting up. You must also take into account I generally use them as a head of staff, who are permitted to carry weapons to protect themselves. (Hypospray, Protopistol, Energy Pistol, and Flash). An argument could be made that stun gloves are an extension of that. I have, in fact, had both captains and good security officers, state that they do not object to the CE having them. I've also had people object otherwise, but almost universally those are officers who themselves were starting shit and got beaten. 3. I do not carry them. I carry the components, which happen to be tools for the job of the character that uses stun gloves. Be mindful, in order to effectively use stungloves my character also needs to order species-specific gloves. You cannot make stungloves from modified gloves. (That said, ICly mangling gloves to use them has never sat well with me. I would order gloves that fit regardless if their ability to be made into stungloves or not.) Ultimately, I can't support removal of them without a suitable alternative being added. Such as a cattle prods. Doing so would push the balance of power even further into security's court, when they still have far too much power on-station when compared to other crewmembers.

Species Representation: Unathi & Tajara Anatomy
Jamini replied to CatInGame's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
I won't raise much more of a fuss over it. But the front view still looks really plantigrade. They should look as if they are standing on their toes/front of their feet, This is a fantastic reference to use when trying to draw bestial digitigrade, and how they would move. (Yes, it's a furry comic artist. Shh.) -
There are two types of Nurses. Type 1 are graduate Nurses who are currently working on a MD. Generally these nurses have an Associates Degree of Nursing or a Bachlor's of Science in Nursing (ADN, BSN) Type 2 are career nurses, which can have a pHD (These are DNP, or Doctors of Nursing Practice) So... yes. A nurse could be a CMO. Technically they would be a doctor however.

This is probably going to be a long-winded thread that ultimately accomplishes little. Much like others before it. That said. I have no illusions that NT-U will be a magic bullet. It's not supposed to be. Everyone signing that is doing so as a player, not as a DO, Mod, or Admin. The most we can do is, as a group, stand up and say we will not strive to make the game unenjoyable for other players and gently pressure the people we play with on-server to do the same. Peer pressure is an gentle, but often underrated force. How we act is normalized with those we spend time with, be it for better or worse. Acknowledging that power allows us to utilize it to better on those around us. I do like your suggestions. -Actively working ICly to purge security of hostile players would do wonders for those that behave perfectly well, as well as for the image of the department of the whole. I have even noticed some experienced officers I once had issue with are no longer really issue-causers, due to both DO action and pressure from the community to improve. -Removing or nerfing stun gloves and implementing other improvised weapons would also help. While I do remain an adamant user of gloves myself, and probably will for a long time, even I will admit they can be problematic. Cattle prods and spears are easier to identify as contraband and harder for engineers and other vigilantes to hide. -Giving science room to breathe, and actively having command encourage large-scale testing at all levels, would do wonders for the department. There is no reason to be afraid of most regular scientists! Giving them some room to play and create fun scenarios would make Aurora much more pleasant for science players to play on.

No. 1. The CSI has morgue access for a reason. 2. The morgue is literally across from the CSI lab. 3. The morgue has always been and still is the designated area for autopsies. 4. Doctors do not have CSI room access. So having a body taken there at any point before cloning is explicitly taking that player out of the lab. CSI's do not need a private morgue or autopsy table. Period.

Adjusted the medical access area and a few surrounding areas.
