  1. Breaking anyone out of that brig would be hell. The CSI lab is massive. That's more real-estate for a single slot job than any other. Tons of space for a single guy. Why?
  2. I like that idea. Processing is to the right of the entry hallway, next to evidence storage.
  3. Those manifests probably would have won if they had targetted the hands. Just sayin'
  4. I do agree with scopes, there really isn't a need to go breaking into atmos or the CE's office to perform setup. Even if it is standard/expected. Honestly, the issue is an age-old mapping issue. There isn't really enough high-security equipment in secure storage to warrant the blast doors, yet nobody has changed it so that secure storage uses proper airlocks. Still, security's response from an outside standpoint does seem excessive. Intent should really be taken into account (which it was, but yet you still wasted at minimum 10-15 minutes of someone's time in addition to the brig sentence) when security is judging a crime. In this case, why didn't security simply levy a fine/warning and tell the engineer (or better, a borg) to put the equipment back? The trespass was seemingly well-intentioned, and nothing vital was stolen nor anything sabotaged. Going straight to incarceration for what is ultimately a minor crime is going to do nothing but escalate a situation. Which, in this case, rapidly began to balloon out of control. Both sides seem at fault here. Nobody is innocent. A little consideration on either side of the equation would have saved both sides leagues of anger and accusations of mishandling. The engineers were in the wrong, but security's response to the situation does not seem at all appropriate either. Ultimately both attitudes result in complaints like this.
  5. Nanotrasen Worker's Union Station Crew for the Crew Explanation The worker's Union is an IC and OOC group of players focused around making the server more enjoyable for everyone. Many players, myself included, have noticed a drastic increase in the amount of ridiculous and unenjoyable bullshit which has more than once precluded an entire round. This group is being formed for several reasons: 1. To encourage players to stop being massive unrealistic dickbags to one-another, both IC and OOC. It's gotten to such an extreme in some cases where people are quitting for an evening in disgust. 2. To encourage players to experiment and play with existing mechanics in an authorized manner, and to help encourage newer players in "problem" departments to be more fun, productive members of the community. To guide and teach, rather than rage and punish. 3. To curb the ridiculous Security/Engineering/Science bullshit that has been floating around for ages, and encourage people to actually act like adult human beings (or aliens, if that is your fetish) for once. The Union is an entirely player-driven organization, and will exist in both an IC and OOC sense. It has no real authority on the server, but instead stands as an agreement by various players to act in a manner that is conductive to a more enjoyable experience. There are no OOC penalties for violating union expectations, but those who are found to not follow them who have given their oath will find themselves stricken from the roster. ICly, Union members likely pay minimal dues in exchange for enhanced medical and employment benefits and, naturally, would have greater voice in command with members who have also signed. Joining the union is as simple as signing the Union Oath of conduct. Characters wishing to sign the Oath can do so here, or ICly (post a screenshot of the signed Oath). Anyone who signs will be placed on the Union roster and treated as a member by other members. Should enough players sign up, we could even host minor events relating to the union on the server. Such as ballots for leadership, bargaining with certain members of command, or crew-to-crew training days. Union Oath, of Conduct I, ___________, hereby swear... ...That I shall remain professional while on-duty. ...That I will respect the regulations and directives of my station. ...That I will not needlessly endanger other crewmembers, or myself. ...That I shall not interfere with the work of other staff, unless they are acting in a manner which endangers myself, my work place, or other members of the crew. ...And that above all I will seek to ensure that myself, my division, and my station act in a manner which is ethical, professional, and productive at all times. Signed, _____________________ Further explaination of IC and OOC Expectations of union members are as follows: http://piratepad.net/ep/pad/view/ro.nfL2ZNXDpw8/latest Member List 1. 6. Having seen the communal brig in action on B12, I am not a fan of it. It seriously inhibits holding for minor crimes and makes most crimes essentially permanent holding. If we want to try it I could certainly whip one up consisting of the triple cell-block. Prisoners can arpee through the windows between cells.
  7. This isn't a discussion on the current brig. Is there any particular part of the remap in this discussion you would like to see reviewed? Unused space you'd like to see used?
  8. Alright. I'm not pointing fingers at the person who did security and command 2.0. It was not me, that is all I will say on that matter. THAT SAID It's pretty universally considered that the current brig is bad. Very bad. It has flow, structure, and usability issues. I've been working on a concept for remapping the brig once again, into something more acceptable for both security members and antagonists. The current map revision I have is as follows: Now, it's not perfect. It's not finished. Most of it is up in the air. Before you comment, please read below. It will include a manifest of the goals for this change. Goal 1 : Workflow -A department should have a native flow to how it is structured. It should be easy to move around the department, even while pulling an object. Goal 2: Standardization -All departments should have several standard features, which includes the following --Main internal Hallways should be approximately 2 tiles wide. --A department should be able to mostly lock itself down during code red. --Secure Areas must have at least one designed weak point. A weak point is classified as a section or wall where one can enter using a single stick of C4, or approximately a minute worth of work with tools. Exposure to space counts as a weak point. Goal 3: Segregation of Responsibilities -A department should not have facilities that are exclusive to another department --On-station Medical supplies should be limited to a single cryobag, a single roll of gause, and a single bottle of ointment. ---This extends to the morgue. If necessary for FTs, the morgue can be modified with trays specifically for security. --Off-station Medical supplies should include a small medical room, complete with a sleeper and a few different types of medkits. --Building Materials and tools will be limited to what the department is expected to use in the course of their duties. ---Crowbars are an exception to this, and will be made plentiful to allow players to move around more readily during power outages. --Evidence holding and weapons should remain exclusive to security. Goal 4: Atmospheric and power integrity -A department should have sufficient firedoors and fire alarms to ensure that a breach will not compromise the entire department. -Rooms will be structured so that atmospherics can close off part of an area and allow operations to continue while repairs are in effect Goal 5: Security -All departments should have the ability to fully enter lockdown. Prohibiting entry or exit. -All departments must have at minimum two weak points by default. --Currently engineering has a teleporter in their atmospheric room, and an entry point VIA external airlock. I'll answer questions and responses to feedback below. I will also post links to my twitch account when I am mapping, as I stream while I work most times.

Right now adding a table would require a lot of moving things about. Perhaps access-locked morgue trays for CSIs as an alternative in the morgue? Placing a window and windoor locked to CSI access trays would be better than separate facilities. We do not need two morgues.

http://medind.nic.in/maa/t05/i3/maat05i3p258.pdf Actually, yes they can. Legally. If ordered too. The issue of doing so improperly is there, but legally it is entirely possible for any registered MD or graduate to conduct a ML autopsy if ordered to do so. FTs have morgue access. There is an autopsy table there. That is why it is there. FTs do not need their own unique facilities to hold bodies forever and deny those players the ability to be brought back into the game. Yes, other people did have issues with the table in the FT lab. You simply do not see their complaints because you do not generally play anything but security. Those trays are going goodbye as well. See the map I posted above.

That was moved after I mapped it I'm not sure what happpened there. Witt probably put it on the wall tile instead of offsetting it from a nearby floor tile. Either way, I'm working on a sec redesign. I believe that was an intentional weak point. The armory has always been exposed to space. I'm working on a redesign that has it internal. It's not petty. You have morgue access. Use it. Security doesn't need to take over most of medical's job. And they certainly should not get exclusive access to any cadavers. I'm working on a redesign from Witt's design. It is going to take time. The command area definitely needs work. I did that. The wall computer wasn't part of the original design. No fucking idea why it got moved into a wall. The lockdowns before were pointless. A lockdown exists to keep people out of an area. Before engineering was so permeable anyone could walk in, even during lockdown. Now an area which is supposed to be high security is indeed high security. Not to mention there are about four weak points in the engineering design. Just because you do not know how to get in does not mean that it is an impregnable fortress.
  12. I personally don't really care, but if that's the case, why does the brig have its own morgue trays? Those are going goodbye in the brig re-revision I'm working on. Assuming folks want it.
  13. I am going to stop you right there. No. I do not do that. I will look at and into issues brought up that involves engineers, but I do not defend them when they pull excessive bullshit. I've fired a great number of engineers, some of them close friends, and lugged even more of them to the brig or had them fall into traps that got them caught by security. In fact, I had that happen twice earlier in the same round. Everyone in engineering when I run it is treated the same. You get one second chance. That's it. If Nasir needs to speak with you twice, or you do a high crime, you are out the door. I personally have a very low tolerance for excessive fuckups. Anyone who has worked with me in medical will probably agree with that. Most times, a single disciplinary talk is enough to set someone straight. Even people who are not regulars to the department. This, is the crux of the issue. One which I am not entirely blameless for. Both of us failed to communicate properly, and I will not deny that Nasir failed to communicate properly in that instance. I was unhappy OOCly, and ICly he was furious at being (seemingly) ignored. Am I saying Emmy shouldn't be HOS? No. I feel she should. I'm not against this application. I am, however, wanting Aqy to acknowledge that the situation could indeed have been handled better. Instead of fighting we should both be taking and learning from this. And maybe, in the future, trying to improve instead of fighting now.
  14. The issue is simple: Emmy didn't communicate. She didn't listen at all to Nasir's (or anyone but Arpee's) side of the story. He had to quite literally chase her through security to the permabrig to even get her to listen at all. She took Arpei's word for it until Elena stepped in. Regardless of the innocence of the other parties, the fact of the matter is that she did not in any way act in an impartial manner during the instance. It was a massive failure acting as a HoS, and only served to upset someone who the HoS is supposed to work alongside. Was it assault? No. Nasir isn't an officer or a laywer. He gets battery and assault mixed up, intentionally so as he isn't trained in law, often. That said, Emmy's handling of a staff complaint on an officer who HAD violated i103©(Minor Assault) and i205©(Illegal Detainment) was not acceptable. You cannot just dismiss complaints on your staff out of hand in-game. Especially not those made by other heads. Your handling of the situation was simply not acceptable. Wanting something and getting something are very different things. You need to remember that Nasir had also been personally struck by Arpei unprovoked. Nobody is going to be perfectly rational after that. How Emmy handled this complaint/request however did nothing to smooth the issue over. Personally, in your shoes? I'd have had Emmy take statements from all involved in private. It may have been wise to even apologize for Arpei's behavior. Instead she essentially escalated the situation until a third party stepped in.
  15. I'm going to speak on this. In a recent round as acting head of security, whearin I was one of the two heads of staff who had agreed to promote you I witnessed both good and bad behavior in the capacity as HOS. I will admit, what I saw of you handling the round antagonists (three of them) was well done, and I appreciated that you involved both engineering and civilian staff in aiding in the capture of the antagonists. While it was dead hour and such things are more common there, if you continue to involve more than security crew in your HOS play, you would be a fantastic head of staff. So kudos for that. However, I must also object based on your actions later in that round. Whearin one of the officers under your command broke protocol and assaulted three members of the staff (including another head) and was afterwards detained and brought to security by said civilian members. At this time you had additional officers and (eventually) a warden to help you keep tabs on your three prisoners. In that time, you outright failed to maintain any semblance of impartiality or even investigate into a very serious charge placed forth by another member of command. Resulting in the abusive officer not only walking out of the brig the continue to harass one of the civilians she had assaulted, but eventually requiring captain and IA involvement. Quite frankly, if you cannot control and take action against your own people as a command member you may not be cut out for the job. Being a head of staff occasionally means looking past the words of your own people and listening to other members of command. This is especially true when acting as Head of Security. I do not feel your character is in any way impartial when it comes to inter-departmental issues. Below is the unfiled incident report, which was made as Emmy was unwilling to listen to anyone but her officer on :s Facility: NSS Aurora Date: 23MAY2457 Index: Affected Person(s): Nasir Khayyam, Mauvebeard, Rozhad Alakiv, Nicce Arpei Offender(s): Nicee Arpei Type of Complaint: Assault, Misconduct, Assault on a Head of Staff Time of Incident: 3:10 Narrative: Nasir was watching Mauvebeard and Rozhad on the thunderdome holodeck simulation. As the two of them finished, Officer Arpei asked to join. Nasir reset the holodeck simulation to clear the blood. Officer Arpei then entered the top section of the simulation, stating "Not IPCs, they don't get damaged by the holodeck." and then proceeded to throw Mauvebeard onto the table and roll them. Officer Arpei then went to the south simulation and grabbed a sword. Rozhad, passed through the south side of the simulation, unarmed. Officer Arpei struck her, continuing to beat Rozhad. Soon after Mauvebeard came down to try and help Rozhad up, where after Arpei proceeded to alternate between beating both of them while they were unarmed. Eventually Mauvebeard, who is an IPC and immune to holopain, stood up and started attempting to disarm Arpei. Nasir called security at this point, who stated they were busy. The fight continued outside of the holodeck, where officer Arpei took her baton and struck Rozhad, Mauvebeard, and Nasir several times each. She then arrested Mauvebeard. Nasir, who had been calling security this entire time, then disabled Arpei and called security to their lobby. where she proceeded to lie about her reasons for arresting Mauvebeard. Affected Person(s) Signature(s): Nasir Khayyam, CE NSS-Aurora, Rozhad Alakiv Witness’s Signature:

There isn't really much room to expand without taking out parts of the central hallway. Believe me, I wanted to make it bigger.
  18. Intentionally removed. The morgue exists for a reason. Autopsies are done in the lab (by medical personal), not in security.
  19. The mech fabber and protolathe didn't have download permission. Any designs in them had to be uploaded manually.
  20. Who likes science? I like science. I like science enough to work with RnD to get a room to fabricate tested, safe prototypes. Hell yeah.
  21. I've really only seen Phoebe do this to people who spam abilities while captured. Perhaps it is just me? Mind, I also do not generally let myself get captured or act in a manner that gives away my abilities openly while captured. It may just be you? Perhaps Nursie should step back a bit and let some of our other surgeons/scientists/xenobiologists cut up antagonists for a while? Perhaps help guide them into the wonderful world of torturing horrible monsters from outer space? Overall, maybe Nursie needs to step back a little. However, I don't feel the practice as a whole is really that horrid. I mean, you are generally a horrible monster/undead monstrosity/crazy lunatic who can summon fireballs with his mind. Cutting things like that up is part of the job description of a xenobiologist. Also: Not /all/ of command has much say in what happens to antagonists. Mostly it is the Captain and RD's call, after a ring to central. Pointing fingers at a group for a small subset of that group is kinda unfair.
  22. Command staff should know of it. If you are referring to malfunction specifically: There is an announcement that openly states the AI is hostile and needs to be disabled when delta is called preceding code Delta. It's a clear and intended "Free shot" at the AI. If you are referring to the code itself: Command-level staff would know of it. Explicitly because they are the only way to drop from code Delta to code Red. Nobody else should know about it. Rumors at best.
  23. In order to fully seal the engineering department, both lockdowns must be toggled. It is intended that you can get into atmospherics through the dorms if engineering is not locked down.
