  1. Your friend will need to make their own separate appeal, but I'll go ahead and sort yours out now.
  2. Hey, I don't mind lifting this. Just no more metagaming, please. Watching you both wander around and set things on fire together makes you both just as guilty in my eyes. Also, no end of round grief on this server. So long as those things are fine, I'll unban you.
  3. I was observing as staff, actually. I was not the CMO and given I was on to handle tickets and keep an eye on the round, I have plenty of context for each and every one of these things. I'm very curious as to the grounds of your accusation here. 1) Leaving the antag to just do whatever he wanted on the station after transfer was absolutely what happened. 2) So? You're expected to handle chaotic rounds. That's how the role is. You're still expected to do your best and, honestly? From what I saw, it really wasn't that bad. 3) Okay? It's a janitor with lube. Not exactly your department getting shot up by mercs. 4) How you handle these things is up to you. I have no problem with giving into their demands up until the point where they asked for more, and more, and more - which I believe ended in you getting arrested by Odin CP because of it all? Complaining about feedback and advice in the main discord also isn't really all too great - I was offering help with my first post, not condemning your actions and this is the entire point of the trial. Nobody gets it right first try. -1. EDIT: Been told I came across as not all too nice and polite in the above, so I've rephrased some bits and do apologise - not my intention
  4. Signing the station over to an antag with two hostages (drill techs) after giving them a bunch of money, some of your equipment, and doing so after speaking to the rest of command about it was a very strange series of events. Especially in conjunction with not mentioning the multiple all access cards being left around. I think you need to work on your communication.
  5. Just somewhere to correlate thoughts for the changes outside of the lore discord so things don't get lost as easily. My thoughts on it personally is that the environmental stuff in the first section? Great. Wonderful. Adds some cool questions and interesting lore for characters to deal with, as well as some stories they can share, conversations to be had, ect. Unfortunately that's about all I can add that gives me any real character hooks. The rest of the text reads like a politics Wikipedia page which whilst fine, is not something I feel is going to matter when actually making and roleplaying a character - we have socialism in the lore much more fleshed out that'll impact people's daily lives much more severely via Pluto. Things like cuisine are interesting for small details characters can have, but if there's no foundation - such as dominia, or Tajara food preferences - it just doesn't matter. Likewise I feel you could entirely remove the fact it has Scandinavian and Philippine origins (the second especially seems kind of tacked on) and replace it with anything else and nothing would functionally change. A much better route imo would have been to strip back the Norse religious stuff from Scarabs and give it to New Gibson instead, and then double down on the ethnic and culture origin for some much needed flavour. Reading about governments is fine and all, but it's just not going to make it into station interaction in the vast majority of places - if we were visiting New Gibson for a DnD campaign, it'd be fine and fitting. But we're in an entirely different environment where a lot of these things are simply not going to matter. We have so many human-skrell interactions too, and whilst that's a prevalent overarching theme in the lore, I feel other races could have had a better justification for being there. Tajara could appreciate the cold climate, and offer expertise in how they survived back home. Vaurca could live under the surface. Dionae could be useful given they don't really care about temperature so much. Ect. Seems a lot of missed opportunity. It's a shame, as opening few sections start off so strong.
  6. At no point did I suggest any of these things in a serious manner - they are things that suck on lowpop, but are fine with a balanced department and following this argument, should therefor be implented. It's a comparison. And I do not think any new mechanics should be brought in for it. It's not unplayable by any means, but you cannot go into a lowpop round and expect all too much to my mind.
  7. Agree with Matt. Lowpop is a mess all in all, and shouldn't be used as a template for sweeping changes like this. We could continue with the 'no power means people don't have fun' to add in: - No medical, so minor wounds kill. So let's add a magic healing pill. - No command so people get stuck in maint. Let's give everyone more acccess. - No security, so bugs run rampant. Let's give the crew an easily accessible rifle. All the above are IC issues and entirely crippling a part of a department's role for this is not something I agree with at all. Doubly so with characters magically knowing how to wire solars or set up generators and whatever. A lack of light can be a headache, but it's an easily fixable heacache. Engineering often struggles for players, and minimising its impact further is just not the way forward.
  8. Thought about it a little, and I'm going to go ahead and deny this. Going by the timeline you've given me, you lost internet for all of five minutes before cutting it loose and heading off to Bay instead. In doing so, you took a slot from someone else and prevented them from being able to join. Appeal denied.
  9. Hey, Whilst chef might not be a super important role, it's still something that players might want to do. By not freeing it up, you stopped other folks who wanted to play it have a go. Likewise, you went to play Bay instead during the timeout from what I can see and understand. Why's that? For reference, it's a 3 day ban rather than a 2 - we do increments around 1 / 3 / 7 / perma, just as a heads-up.
  10. Watching Sil get drunk in the bar with only one med member about as someone was heavily injured is not a great look. Whilst this was before the trial started, still not something I'm keen to see going forwards for a CMO. Though perhaps your HoP play is better?
  11. Going to keep it short. - We have a bot that tells us if someone opens a ticket when we have nobody online or everyone is afk. - I got on after getting ready for my day and took it before other life priorities took over. Hence not having a long chat. - You were AFK, stripped of your gear in front of cryo from where someone else had gotten it sorted. You can't cryo someone connected, hence they made a ticket to kick you. - You were given a warning as you do have a history of this stretching back years. You're correct the other warnings expired and the ban was a while back, which is exactly why I warned you rather than escalating. - The ban thing is not a threat. It's a heads-up what the next time of it is likely to be. - You replied only after I had set the warning (I was in the chat box entering it at the time). This does not excuse you going AFK in a contested role for a while beforehand because you suddenly come back. This was to let me tell you you were being warned, not to have a discussion on it. - You are aware you may need to step away for extended periods of time, so don't join on contested roles. Again, have a history. I stand by a warning being appropriate. And there was no big mystery here, no logs to go through, no other perspectives to get, so sticking around to chat (especially when I was busy with other things) would not have changed the outcome at all.
  12. I'm not the person who banned you. That said, I PM'd you a half hour before or so to let you know that you were making people uncomfortable and to reign it in a bit. For the record for when the person who did ban you jumps in.
  13. If I didn't think there were problematic parts, I would not have commented. This is also my own opinion and I am absolutely not going to post about another player's behaviour - Persephone's post is enough there. That would be neither fair on Boggle's, nor relevant to the application now that I've put in my two cense. In the interests of not derailing this application into an argument about when we should trust people who have actually changed (the discord stuff was 2 months ago btw) I'll just leave what I've said here at that.
  14. In your own words, you have not been watching this. As someone on staff who has been, I personally do not think it's a good look for someone to be posting this kind of thing - I'm not going to dredge up the past and post more logs, as that's just rude -to be given a staff position in a community where there are plenty of more vulnerable members and those belonging to the LGBT group. I would not at all blame those people being uncomfortable in asking for help with the species which, to my understanding, is a major part of being on the lore team. I didn't want to post but people defending this is really questionable. -1.
  15. Bear in mind that overly nerfing the rifle - when pretty much everything else in the armory assuming you're not using slugs sucks bad in comparison - very much encourages cargo weapons to be bought which are way, way better than anything security has at round start.
  16. My major trouble with this (the lore, not Faye's suggestion) is that it doesn't feel like it really adds much unique flavour. Nothing about this screams 'cool Aurora lore' to me instead of being just general political parties where if you changed around a few names, it could be from pretty much anywhere. It's a shame other lore writers didn't add their own species too I suppose, but it makes the Hadii one stand out as being very strange - through no fault of those that wrote it. More 'positive' parties would be nice, as those that are more liberally inclined do not seem to have many examples of what they're actively trying to do rather than just 'treat everyone equally'.
  17. You can edit it here.
  18. Switch the two rifles for two ballistic carbines or something rather than making the weapon type useless imo. Been playing a lot of FR lately and lost count of the number of people I've rocked up to with 2% blood and it's just 'welp, guess they'll die'.
  19. I agree it should be gone. It's a hold over from other SS13 servers and I don't think I've ever seen someone use it in an interesting way. Not necessarily through any fault of their own, but just because it was never expanded so there's nothing there to really work with. Encouraging broader connections with the actual, fleshed out lore can only be a good thing.
  20. Use the format, please.
  21. Stay on topic, please. There are better places to put these kinds of thoughts than this topic in particular.
  22. Thought about this a 'lil and I'm quite against it overall. Does it suck that people act like children who cannot bear to share? Yes, 100%. It's a shame some folks cannot act like adults. Unfortunately I feel outside of the NBT launch, this would do more harm than good to overall population and round quality.
  23. I do think this should be used during NBT's launch, especially in the early days so people can actually play - especially those with work and school and other commitments. Currently I'm 50/50, but may lean toward yes.
  24. I have concerns of what this might do to general pop numbers. For example, if I'm hesitant about joining a round on a contested role, this would push it even more firmly into the no. I don't think bleeding more high pop rounds would be worth it for now but might be a very good consideration for the NBT when competition inevitably skyrockets.
  25. I have concerns over your antag play, as well as your OOC attitude in whether or not that's actually been rectified. For example, the unban request posted fairly recently didn't exactly fill me with faith. Also not overly amazed by your IC interactions. A bit too meme-y and whatnot for my tastes. -1 for now.
