Minor theft, aggravated assault, public intoxication, possession/distribution of illegal substances, fraud, disobeying direct orders, etc etc etc. Is it really that hard to think of minor crimes? Also, since this is a corporate workplace, you could also include hate speech.

Shadow's (My Tajaran Agent) Backstory - Possible?
Rusty Shackleford replied to NebulaFlare's topic in Lore Questions
So she was a maid then... a Tajaran maid... polishing the big Unathi weapons... I wonder, would it be too much of a stretch to call her... Lusty? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) -
Title: Prototype Multi-Role Area Denial Munitions Submitter: Seratt-Kellion Strategic Solutions, Inc. Type of submitter: Corporation Submitter information and dealings: Headquarters located in Mendell City (Biesel) Developers, manufacturers and distributors of LOTUS personal body armor (Levels III-B, III-C, IV-A, and V-Ablative) Existing contract to provide LOTUS body armor to the Lowell City Police Department (Mars) for use by SWAT and ERT Existing contracts to provide LOTUS body armor to the colonial militias of Katyusha, New Grenada, Umveraan and Lucidity (Outer Colonies) Name(s) of design(s) being submitted: Variable Application Lightweight Area Denial Device (V.A.L.W.A.D.D.) Variable Application Lightweight Anti-Shield Device (V.A.L.W.A.S.D.) Description(s) and history of research: The VALWADD project represents our corporation's first foray into the world of munitions research and development. In creating this device, we have taken designs from multiple sources and significantly improved upon their reliability, safety, and destructive capability. Area denial munitions have been a staple of ground-based warfare ever since the First World War back on Earth, and have continually proved effective in deterring and routing enemy movements in nearly every ground-based conflict since. The VALWADD project is aimed at allowing area denial tactics and munitions to remain effective in the face of more advanced armor and shielding being deployed in combat. With the VALWADD, we look to condense the roles and destructive capabilities of several different kinds of munitions into one device, that is able to adapt to any role required of it while in the field. We have made our devices capable of performing in anti-personnel, anti-materiel, and anti-armor roles, and they can be changed between these roles while in the field due to the microcomputers we have integrated into them, that can directly interface with standard wrist-mounted combat computers. The VALWADD has three detonation modes: Remote, Pressure, and Proximity. It can be cycled through these modes by allied forces, depending on the tactical needs of the moment. The devices possess an integrated IFF recognition system that links up with friendly combat computers and vehicle systems, which means that allied forces can safely maneuver through areas in which VALWADDs have been deployed, without fear of accidental detonations or mishaps. Once friendly forces are clear of the area, the VALWADD re-arms itself automatically. If a grid of VALWADDs is linked up to a central battlefield command system, then allied forces will be alerted when a device is detonated, or if enemy movement is detected. The thick casing of the device is not actually a single piece of material, but rather tens of thousands of extremely tiny needles woven together (refer to attached image). These micro-needles are composed of a lightweight Plasma alloy that are superheated and propelled outward when the device is detonated. The primary explosive charge is a thermite-based liquid-state compound composite that we have dubbed CX-14. It is an extremely potent high explosive mixture, which by itself is capable of melting through Class 2 conventional armor plating. However, when it is used to superheat and propel the Plasma alloy micro-needles, its destructive potential is increased tenfold. Tests show that the superheated Plasma alloy micro-needles are capable of penetrating Class 7 conventional armor plating, as well as GEN-12 reactive plating, and every single form of personal body armor in circulation. Tests have also shown that the detonation can overload combat energy shields of strengths up to 5 Renwicks, rendering personal energy shields utterly useless, and severely weakening the defenses of ultra-heavy combat vehicles. With regards to defeating energy shields, we are currently developing another version of the VALWADD, the VALWASD (Variable Application Lightweight Anti-Shield Device) which employs tungsten micro-needles coated with Teranium. Preliminary tests show that while the Teranium-tungsten devices have significantly reduced penetrating power, they are still capable of punching through Class 4 conventional armor plating, and GEN-8 reactive plating, as well as still defeating all personal body armor in circulation. The main feature of the Teranium coated micro-needles, is that they have shown to be capable of completely overloading combat energy shields of up to 12 Renwicks, far greater a value than can be safely installed on even ultra-heavy ground combat vehicles. The Teranium-tungsten micro-needles have also been found to possess the added property of exploding violently after dispelling an energy shield, fulfilling a secondary anti-personnel role. As we are still technically in the prototype stage of the VALWADD's development, there remain some challenges to overcome. As it stands, the production of a Plasma alloy VALWADD costs 3600% more than the production of conventional area denial munitions, and the Teranium VALWASD prototype has proven to be 7500% more expensive than a conventional counterpart. However, we are actively working to reduce production costs, and we hope that with additional resources, we could expedite the process, while ensuring that quality and safety are not sacrificed.

Humanity & Religion: Do We Standardize The Unwhitelisted?
Rusty Shackleford replied to a topic in General
Maybe make the majority of humans more speciesist, which sparked an era of spess manifest destiny. Get rid of all this peace and love and understanding for the plight of the poor aliens crap. Huehuehue. -
If anyone's going to do anything regarding genetics, I would beg them to take a look at the stuff I wrote up while I was still on the loreteam, regarding different forms of cloning (Direct-Copy, Indirect-Copy, Flash Technique, Blank Technique, Brain Transfer).

I still maintain that with technology that allows for FTL travel and terraforming of hostile worlds, that you'd essentially be tearing he mask off nature to stare at the face of God, as it were. Couple that with alien civilizations coming into contact (whoch would likely be the biggest factor no matter what), and you have a lot of people experiencing crises of faith all at once, and a lot of people would essentially lose their religion. Thinking about it, I doubt everyone would be atheist, but the grand majority would be, either that or they'd be agnostic. Christianity seems to lend itself best to reform in the face of alien first contact, Catholicism less so, but still somewhat reformable. Call me Western-centric or whatever, but I don't think Sharia Law lends itself well to space travel and planetary colonization. Aside from all that, a good alternative would be a Unitology-type religion, a la Dead Space. Maybe Bluespace worship, that our wacky Nar'Sie cults spring off from. -
We've got the Tajaran Exclusion Act, the Unathi Loyalty Pledge, and the IPC Tagging Laws. Basically, it affects all IPCs and unlawed synthetics that utilize Shells to look like anything other than a walking machine. In Tau Ceti, they must recieve a collar tag that will identify them as a synthetic, and will severely damage their chassis if it is removed by non-qualified personnel. Even ones visiting from other systems must get a tag. It was a bill passed in light of a terrorist attack carried out by IPCs using Shells to blend into the populace.

Humanity & Religion: Do We Standardize The Unwhitelisted?
Rusty Shackleford replied to a topic in General
Scientology is literally a brainwashing cult founded by a mediocre science fiction writer so he could scam rich people out of money. Also, while Christianity, Catholicism and Judaism may survive and adapt, I highly doubt Islam would, especially since half of them are actively trying to kill the other half. -

Let me pose a question quickly: Would Islam even survive into the year 2458? I have a feeling that first contact with the Skrell and other xenos would utterly gut the foundations of Islam, as well as all but the most progressive of sects based on the Abrahamic faith. I have a feeling that Islam, Judaism and Christianity would all but go extinct, and that atheism and religions less focused on deity worship (i.e. Buddhism) would make up the beliefs of the majority of the population. I also imagine new pagan religions would pop up in the colonies, like that pantheon Gollee made thst resides on Akhet. Remember, this is 450 years in the future, with FTL travel and aliens. -
I'm a paranoid man with traditionalist values who carries at least one gun with him at all times, who has relatively recently acquired a sense of extreme nationalism and xenophobia. I'm anti-drug, pro-death penalty, but otherwise a staunch believer in the concept of live-and-let-live. Also, I'm voting for Trump.

Humans in the year 2458 have an average lifespan of about 100 years within the core worlds region, and in the outer fringe worlds, their lifespans are comparable to what they are today. Very rich or affluent humans can invest in life-extending technology, allowing some to live up to 200 years.
