  1. If it's possible, I'd approve of this. I always found it wierd that IPCs couldn't access languages depending on who created them - because it would make only sense for creators to implement different languages (at least the understanding of) into their creations.
  2. I like this. Rameau's definitely the sort of character that would be wearing this. Though I feel that gives an advantage to the antags - I mean, Rameau is normally unassuming until he finds a way to fuck everything up.
  3. If by resprited you mean "swap out the toy crossbow's sprite with the protopistol", that's exactly what this suggests I believe. But I'll let Elliot Clef decide of that
  4. Okay. I'm either mistaking this character for someone else, or this person has one of the most realistic nurses I've seen so far. The player is quite good - and I've seen a few instances where they COULD have powergamed to get things done, yet chose not to. I'm also vouching for this application. I think. Yo, Code - Jaden's the one who two-person-worked Medical with Lua, right? Where we saved like three people?

  6. That is very true. I miss Hypatia ;_;
  7. I only suggested disregarding them should it come to the worst because Aurora alone most likely cannot uphold Byond. But it is a moot point as per above - the Byond team is just as supportive of it's player base as you make it out to be, and I trust them entirely. I'll be donating when my budget allows it myself.
  8. Yeah, chem dispenser. Same difference Also, the Kitchen ChemMaster is different - it's technically a CondiMaster, made to stock condiments in bottles. And yes - three dispensers, two areas. Bar doesn't have a chem dispenser or master.
  9. ...Am I dumb or is there no code for the radiation damage in there?

  11. If you meant "adding a frequency" as in "adding a frequency that's not between 141.1 and 149.9, IIRC no. There's a few antag/Odin channels which falls out of these bounds, but I'm 99% certain you can't actually select a frequency beyond that. If you meant "create a new communication channel on an unused frequency", then yes - to mindblowing extents. You can tell people to tune into a channel. And if you got access to telecomms code, you can give a whole filter to your channel - like the common channel, except it's player made. Question 4: I know that power cells' reliability can be fixed by going 2 levels above their rating (at least IIRC). Know if there's a parameter like that for protopistols?
  12. That's pretty neat actually. (I hate doing this, but...) Question 2. Since when do protopistols emit radiation?
  13. Aurora isn't even MENTIONED directly (the closest to a reference there is is "my community", and it was a reference to how we're all sad that Byond's having trouble). Byond staff could probably snoop around and figure it out - but from my message alone, I'm the only bearer of this message, and whatever downfall there will be I will pick up. As a side note, I have gotten a reply. Here's the contents: So, people - just keep contributing to Byond and they'll take care of it, even should it come to the worst.
  14. To be honest, the biggest problem here is the players that play to win. Security bullrushes and antags gank because antags gank and security bullrushes, because that's the meta to win at the moment. We should focus on teaching antags how to make a fun scenario (and, dare I say, make an antag/security whitelist (aside from cadet) to make sure that the people in those positions aren't idiots.
  15. So. I realized I had gameplay questions - and I'm sure others do to. So I'm making a thread for us to answer one another. Can be gameplay, "lore" (even though it's going to irk the loremasters in the lore question subforum) or character questions for all I care - we're here to seek answers. So, to kick it off, my question: I've learned that Aurora has hyposprays. What do they look like, what are the advantages and can Science build them?
  16. I looked into it - and it doesn't even look like doing that infringes on their TOS (but then again it might be because they haven't had anyone try it). I sent the Byond staff a message about it though.
  17. Fractal, it's not technically illegal if the company cannot defend it. And it's not illegal because it is merely bypassing a product to access another. If Byond had stakes in Aurora directly, it would be another story. And it's rude, yes. But do you HONESTLY believe we should let Aurora die if Byond cannot sustain itself?
  18. Which makes sense, really, since even IRL the process of replacing a mangled limb with a prosthesis involves closing and cauterizing the wound to make a stump...
  19. You're thinking too big. All we need is to emulate Byond protocols. In a sense, "crack" Byond (or request, from them, the source code so that we can host a mini-Byond for accessing Aurora). I mean - if your solution was the only solution, people who crack games couldn't make execs smaller than the game. MMO private servers wouldn't be a thing. By your logic, N64 games would have to have been redone from scratch... yet we have browser-based emulators for them. Hell - I'm not 100% certain, but I've hosted private Aurora servers (as in, by myself). Let's say... I'm about 85% certain that all the Dream Seeker needs is an interface - because from what I can see, Byond initiates a connection with it's own protocol and plugs it into the Dream Seeker, which remotely loads the assets from the given server before launching the client game code. And from our experimentation trying to get rid of the furry spamming, a while back, this definitely holds up - you need Byond to launch the game, but can safely force-quit Byond after that and safely stay connected - and reconnect between rounds - with your CKey in the Dream Seeker. Which means that the Byond software, overall, is three things: a pager/chat system between players, a server host listing and a connection interface for the games themselves. Cutting the first two features out should make the Launcher possible.
  20. People do that? So far, there's only one newbie that I haven't been able to help - and that's because he said he was specifically there to make bombs, and almost killed his character for failing a bomb. Otherwise, every other character I've helped ended up settling in just fine. Seriously guys - I'll say it as often as I need to. HELPING THE NEWBIES IS REWARDING.
  21. Hey, you're posting here. Which means you're un-gone. Which means you're here. Take your time.
  22. I'll be 100% honest here. Even if everyone pitched in, we're only what, 50 people? We most likely are not enough to support Byond alone. Reminder - in a single instance, there can be up to 500 players on Byond at once. Most likely in the excess of three thousand a day. Fifty players to support that is not enough. My best bet would be finding a way to make the server/game work without Byond. Sure, it would mean the end of growth via their thing - but if we can pull it off, we can start increasing visibility elsewhere.

  25. LOGIN>Klondike PASSWORD>******** ACCESS LEVEL>ENCRYPTED NET ACCESS: GRANTED WELCOME Another video feed queues up to the side of the first one. The room is intensely lit from behind by several monitors and machines, only leaving the silhouette of a man which seemed to be wearing a jumpsuit and a security helmet. His voice was hoarse, audibly caused by a body which suffers from advanced aging.
