Player Complaint: Terrence Frank/Bobbyswagger
Killerhurtz replied to nanotoxin's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Personally, I have a strong love/hate relationship with Frank. On the one hand, he IS known to often cause more trouble than he solves and is often /VERY/ pushy and most often overstepping - I remember more than once him 'requesting' (which was never denied because he's very underhanded in his methods) to search someone for a minor infraction like having the RD stamp without being RD. On the other hand, he IS someone who prevents chair-RP and that ensures proper operation that should be expected of a heavy-RP server (which mostly has to do with paperwork - if it wasn't for Terrence, I wouldn't have learned to consistently remember to request paperwork from people as a RD, and to do paperwork as normal crew), AND he gets things done right when needed. Plus, that is only when the station is operating normally. When all shit breaks lose, Terrence goes from pushy asshole IAA to, most often, goddamn savior - he will put his life on the line to ensure the safety of this station, and when everyone else cowers and try to save their asses, he's the one who helps security (and whoever else assists them in restoring the safety) get things done and have more presence on the station. He never wields weapons (I think I remember ONCE Terrence having a stun revolver because he was getting targeted), he simply acts as security's mouth, eyes and ears. He is seriously one of the six characters that I know personally, on station, on Sybil's semi-canon 'whitelist' (which is a list of people she would never want to be in an bad situation or emergency situation without). So overall, I say that Bobby's fine - contrary to MOST people, he actually makes things happen at all time, helps break down armchair RP, helps people interact - and that's saying something, because in most situations the role of IAA isn't entirely useful if not that active. -
Player/Round complaint (Wizard, 2nd May 2015)
Killerhurtz replied to Killerhurtz's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
First, Alberyk - you say that you talked to an admin, could I know who so that I can modify the first post? Second, upon this - I understand more your actions (and in retrospect maybe I should have acted differently as well - the AI DID warn me that the guard who arrested the wizard was more aggressive (which was why I was summoned really fast, since apparently the one other Head got into cryo really early). Now, though - the reason why we made a big deal out of the Wizard Federation was because it was written on the scrolls, though that wasn't a huge alert for Sybil - she freed the wizard and contacted Central because it was so outlandish. It was the first and last time I had seen the wizard that round until Virology just blew up, after which (and I quote from Sybil) "spent all of my time dealing with the squishy organics" which was a pain since all of medical was dead and about half the living crew seemed injured somehow. It still doesn't explain why people were exploding, however. As a side note, there is a single IC reason I can see why the wizard would be arrested - if someone showed up with a strange name and didn't show up on the crew records, it would be understandable for him to be detained. -
BYOND Key: Killerhurtz Player Byond Key: Alberyk Staff involved: Tuiee Reason for complaint: Lack of RP. The character known as Shaman Torn-Horn was a wizard - however due to bad moves he got stopped early. He then proceeded to scream about some curse because of a Tajaran who didn't even kill a cow, sending a curse/virus/something into people which made them blind intermittently, then their heads started turning into horse heads. He was brought to Virology because he was suspected, and because he was properly confined he proceeded to spam some spell to completely explode Virology before disconnecting. We couldn't recover from the subsequent damage and deaths (on a ~12 player game, 7 deaths including himself, 5 of them being direct, 2 of them because he killed all of medical so they couldn't get treated) before end-of-round. THEN, probably because of his spell - either some infected people or the cloned people just started exploding. It was a horrible round for pretty much everyone involved - we spent the first half of the round quarantining people and the second trying to get people not to die/get cloned and retrieve their stuff in the breached virology. Approximate Date/Time: 2nd of May, 2015, ~1:45 AM to ~3:45AM EST (GMT-5)

Nanotoxin's Moderator Application
Killerhurtz replied to nanotoxin's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
+1. Solid player with solid characters. I see no reason not to give him a try. -
+10000 for so many reasons. First, you had me at 'smells like science'. Second, one of my characters (Sybil Rosetta-Sigma) has two main interactions with Phoebe when she's in science at round start or when joining. It all boils down to "Hi, here's your labcoat". Third, I dig the style of the labcoat and Sybil wants one Fourth, I don't like the current science labcoats - I don't like the purple, I don't like the shape of them and it makes the RD look ridiculous when wearing any uniform except the standard one - ESPECIALLY the dress uniform Fifth, I call dibs on Royce Bracket if this is implemented. Sixth, a labcoat like this would almost make me as happy as having the android-like IPC frame that can have hair. ALL OF MY YES
-
OH MY GOD Niklaus is already an awesome captain But an awesome captain /with a beret/? Niklaus would get 10x better.
-
SO MUCH YES RED QUEEN NEEDS A SPECIALIZED CORE
-
+1 nioathi best shaman But seriously though, there is not ONE round with Fereydoun that doesn't involve the fact that it's a shaman. It would be a nice touch to add.
-
+1. While it might be slightly hard to do it /only/ for Graphite, Graphite is still a good cyborg - and new sprites for cyborgs are always fun (though aren't these a combat drone from Star Wars?)
-
+1. I like this idea - it could add a lot of depth to the lore, just like the differentiation between cyborg/android/robot has.

Aedan's IPC Whitelist Application
Killerhurtz replied to Eliot Clef's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
+1. IAM is one of the most useful security borgs I have ever played with (and without being boring), and at the time of writing, finished a round with IAM AI which was also pretty good. I'm 90% certain Aedan will play a very good IPC. -
Hycinth's Unathi Application
Killerhurtz replied to Hycinth's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
+1 ILU HYCINTH But yeah. Both Tsavnava and Daedalus were AMAZING characters to interact with. GIVE THEM THEIR UNATHI. -
Scholar's IPC Application
Killerhurtz replied to The Storyteller's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
+1. ALL OF MY +1. Not only is Arssa Vess an amazing character, but there has been some planning done behind it (as there's another application for Phobos by Ryfer). I am looking forward to all of the shenanigans this will bring. -
+1. Axton Florent is an outstanding character (and VERY active RD/scientist), and is actually in my character's list of "people who make a shift better", and the application is pretty solid - without mentioning that this is very much planned as there is another application for Deimos, the brother. Looking forward to seeing it in action.

+1. While Lemon isn't an exceptional RPer, they're still a solid experience and a great addition to the player base - Yrsa was very reliable if not a little quiet, but then again I have not interacted as much as I'd like with it. But I'm certain that Lemon will make a great Tajara.

Focks' Moghan leezurd(Unathi) app
Killerhurtz replied to Focks's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
+1. HASNA <3 Seriously though - Hasna Rishat is easily one of the most fun, adorable and BLOODY RELIABLE (She saved my characters' hide more times than I can count) characters I've interacted with. If Sarecks is as deft in medical (at least that's what it feels like it's going to be) as Hasna is in Research, we're going to have one hell of a doctor aboard. I'm looking forward to it... even though it means that I'll get to play less with Hasna ;_; -
Damarik's Head of Staff App
Killerhurtz replied to Damarik's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
+1. I've seen lots of characters. Thought I'd seen most of it. Then Quinton Lierre came and proved me wrong. It was a fresh character with a fresh personality, I loved him. His application is also very solid, so he gets all of my approval. -
Callum99877's Unathi application
Killerhurtz replied to callum99877's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
+1. Ezra is one of my favorite characters on the server - he's just so amazing. -
oneonethreeeight - Unathi Whitelist Application
Killerhurtz replied to a topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
+1. 1138's an amazing player (Vira and Talia FTW), and his application looks solid. Looking forward to it. -
+1. While the IPC itself might clash slightly with the lore (I think that in stations, the AI has the transmitter), JBoy's more than capable of having a good IPC character. I've played with Emily O'Harron, the two Keeners and Candace Gray - I didn't expect them to be from the same guy. He has my full approval.

Extra Items (enhanced research, useful engineering mechs)
Killerhurtz replied to Killerhurtz's topic in Archive
Eh - point is, the laser thing cleans fast and clean. But that's the thing though - RIPLEY is said to be engineering, but really it can only mount what, three upgrades? And it only has a cable layer. I find it does a lousy job at engineering. -
Extra Items (enhanced research, useful engineering mechs)
Killerhurtz replied to Killerhurtz's topic in Archive
Yeah, slowly - but floorbots are already fishy enough because of their niche-d-ness. At least, personally, if I see someone build a floorbot, I suspect things. But the laser cleanbot has an actual purpose - cleaning the station REAL fast. -
Extra Items (enhanced research, useful engineering mechs)
Killerhurtz replied to Killerhurtz's topic in Archive
@Kiwidaninja The Bluespace Mass Extractor would extract things up to debate, depending on balance. I was thinking it to be a machine to build so that we can avoid DEPENDING on Mining for the more advanced components (hence the huge construction cost). So plasteel, uranium, plasma, gold and silver - probably at a scale relative to their normal mass (plasteel being fastest, uranium or plasma being slowest). I'm not a balance expert, but that's the general idea behind it - after completing research, we don't have to worry about materials and start making things awesome (plus it might fix the issue of people getting bored who knows). And to be able to use it in dead shifts, maybe we could have a 300-400 supply points crate with everything to fabricate it (or a fabricated but not anchored unit to avoid research abuse)? And Tish, in retrospect it IS pretty overpowered... What about vaporizing only floor tiles, wiring and disposals piping? That way it's not TOO dangerous but can still seriously fuck things up (I was going to say generic piping, but we still have an issue if it gets to Atmospherics - with wiring and disposals piping, at most some areas are without power and disposals is fucked, but at least people can still mostly breathe) -
So, I'm pretty dissatisfied about two things. First, the higher research levels serve VERY niche purposes. Two, pretty much all departments have a mech except for Research and Engineering. And so, I present a series of item that I suggest to fix this little issue. I already got some sprites ready, but eventually all of them will be done. Sprites subject to change. Power regulation circuit (PRC) Used in construction of advanced power machines Engineering 2 Power 3 Power regulation integrated circuit (PRIC) Used in construction of advanced-power devices. Materials 3 Power 3 Engineering 3 Half the resources of a normal circuit Goggles Frame Engineering 2 10 Metal Goggles Lens Materials 2 10 Glass Laser cleanbot Moves extremely fast (probably Cargo Tug fast) but can only clean grime. OR a solid prayer to the gods, I don't know. Laser Welder Requires whatever is needed to build a high-capacity capacitor and a ultra-high-power laser Takes power either out of a power cell or the NEC below. Mounted Manipulator Looks like a micromanipulator on a stick probably, with a box for storage Basically, a mech hand and backpack. Can only mounted on Bastion mech (see below) Materials 3, Data Theory 3 Construction/Engineering endoskeleton Allows building APLU Janus/Terminus. Requires Engineering 4 "APLU" Janus/Terminus (final name TBD - but then again, all names here are) Built like the regular mech of the class but with the Construction/Engineering endoskeleton. Requires 2 peripheral boards of whatever class (to deal with the large amount of attachments) Reinforced Endoskeleton Looks like a Gygax endoskeleton. Allows building Bastion mech. Requires Materials 4, Power 3 Bastion exosuit Looks like a green Gygax. Moves very slowly, is very limited on attachments (one or two only), EXTREMELY armored (against explosives if possible). Cannot accept any addition that could be offensive (including hydraulic clamp). The official research/EOD mech. Limbs are all Gygax except for reinforced endoskeleton, inner armor is plasteel, middle armor is reinforced glass, outer armor is plastic. Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?

DemonoftheSyntheticfall IPC app
Killerhurtz replied to Demonofthefall's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
+1. All of my yes. Demon is a fantastic roleplayer (ISSA FTW), and I am looking forwards to seeing what he's going to do with an IPC (that already has a pretty solid backstory). And as mentioned above, I can't wait to see on which side of Karima it'll be on - will it be a demi-sister to DragonSnap or will it be a rival?
