Will the clothing vendor be hackable (cutting cables) or just emagable? I would prefer the latter, as I wouldn't want everyone to hack this every shift, just to get their snowflake/edgy/weird/whatever piece of bunny ears or a clown suit.

Just keep in mind that uniforms/department jumpsuits exist for a reason. Also, keep in mind that you should ask the dev team first, before actually working on it. Or don't act surprised if you will be yelled at, for trying to circumvent the dev team. Also, there should be a limit on how much things one can vend out of it, so any baldies pranksters won't try to dump everything on the floor. However, what I think shouldn't be available: gloves (apart from the latex ones; they don't leave prints, pretty overpowered, should be a limited amount of them), normal webbings and toolbelts (there should be a limited amount of them, I wouldn't want everyone to have even easier access to engineering toolbelts, and seeing everyone wearing webbings is not normal). But, that's just me. Also, this shouldn't be emag-able, DO jumpsuits spam/massive honks are not fun, I believe. Other than that, it's a pretty good idea.

In all, this topic is like slowly turning into a slow debate on how will everything will add to the roleplay.. These..are... cosmetic.. items.. for... everyone... (...) It's simple, people (including me) worry about this so much, because they don't want our dev team to work on stuff, that will only be used to do "fetish/schoolgirl" stuff. Really, those are not "32x32 sprites of socks" or "just cosmetic items", those are also hours (?) of implementing the code and bug testing. Asking "why would we honestly need them for a spessmen game" is totally justified. That said, I still like this, just for the sake of not having bare legs under a dress. It looks ugly. And barebones.Hue.

Please no. I would rather want to have my SS13 experience spoken word/voice less, than to have only some of it actually voiced (footsteps, explosions and such are an exception). That's why I would be in, for complete hailer removal, and that's why I dislike admins spawning violins and unimogs. If anything, make them armoury/riot only.
-
I normally would be against it, due to "reasons". However, it would actually be nice to have our female characters actually have something under their dresses. Now, they basically have bare legs, if wearing a dress.

These sprites work, and are the sprites I want. These sprites are not exactly droideka-like. These sprites also work, and may actually appear in-game in the form of syndicate cyborgs, but syndicate cyborgs are not used, unless some variables are edited +code red. I don't want them. EDIT: @Alber, I'm not sure if we actually have those borgs you are talking about. I couldn't find their sprites in Aurora's codebase-thingy. Are you sure those are not Paradise (or something else's) thing?

I can never understand it, when people are talking about antagging and security's advantage, they assume that security's retarded (assuming that security cannot enter maint tunnels and that they don't communicate) and that the antagonist needs to be a mastermind (You were fighting 1v5 and lost the fight, pity traitor? You shouldoutrobust them with ease!) That's not how it works, really. Usually, antags and security are on the same level, but security is vastly overwhelming antags with AI's and sheer numbers. Hell, security even has stunbatons, one-hit KO. Also, would this really make a difference? Wouldn't it just be another wire to remember when hacking, or just another panel to emag? Effort vs Profit.

As I said, a reply. A rant? May be a little aggressive. Things may be a exaggerated. Long post ahead. Sometimes, I wonder how you people want to achieve that. Really, I imagine it's hard to teach someone how to be a good officer, considering that it's sometimes a stressful and pretty important job (in the sense of pushing the round forward), and that you can't just drop everything you were doing to IC-ly cite someone a wiki tutorial. It would be just easier to make a separate server to teach people how to be robust, and stuff. But, that defeats the point. Also, how the hell you need someone to teach you how to play security? I understand, simple stuff like how to unbuckle, you could miss that or just misread how to do it correctly, but stuff like corporate regulations? I personally think (IMHO), if you didn't read the tutorial, you really shouldn't play this role, and potentially ruining someone's round. Also, what if they simply don't care? What if they just want to robust antags on Aurora, without random assistants outrobusting them? You can't just fire them because they are bad (but didn't done anything terrible, yet), you can't just ahelp it to have a admin talk to them, you can't just ban them (how being IC-ly bad is a bannable offence?). You say, heads of staff? If something is happening, they are usually busy, if it's boring, they probably have no way to see that someone is terrible, and remembering 43535 characters from previous rounds to school them later, is hard. Can you even find one player, that would like to spend his time to teach people how to play a role? Almost every round, repeating the same tutorial, literally dying out of boredom? I see no way this could be fun, life is not easy, it wouldn't be a easy and fun five-minute talk with people that actually care, it would be hell. And I fully understand, and I am not surprised, that no one has any patience for this, these days. Why do people want to IC-ly interact within their (as some could say) jerk-circle/metafriendships, IC-ly teaching others how to do stuff, and actually roleplaying with them? Because they have a guarantee that their IC-friend will not just leave, go SSD, run away, or start harm-batonning you because they've got antagged (and I assure you, I am not a member of any of those meta-friendship circle jerks, I am trying to always be, sort of, independent) Not a good idea. We already have age-gates on sec jobs, then, administrative actions are better in this kind of case, I believe Administrative actions? Let's see IC, DO actions? DO's can't just investigate XXX bad officer's behaviors. DO's can't just constantly sit on their asses, responding to incident reports. Also, the delay, imagine that the 'bad officer' does not care, it's 1 day before a report is made, +2 days before a DO responds, +7 days before the meeting-thingy time expires. Also, what if the player made another, still bad, character? Do we need to repeat this never-ending circle again? IC, heads of staff? Usually free to demote, but, during a uneventful round, you don't see bad people actually being bad, as they are usually SSD or not doing anything. During a eventful and chaotic round, heads are usually busy doing stuff. OOC, banning? Meh, I already said why not, it's obvious. OOC, age-gates? Meh. Do those age-gates even work, other than being a round-ruiner if MySQL (or whatever, I don't really know) database-thing stops working, disallowing everyone from joining security? Can't you just join once, start the timer, and come back ten days later, free to robust shit? How about, types of offences? SSD? What the hell are you going to do? Ban? "i had 2 go, sorry, important whatever" But, something should be done, as SSD's are taking job slots, equipment, and from lobby-er's perspective it may seem that security is overstaffed, but in reality it is a ghost town. Something other than banning, because of obvious reasons. Wasting flashbangs or other equipment? Does not really warrant OOC action, does not really warrant IC action, as security officers can't just take each other's ID's. Wrong or unjust detainment or charge? Does not really warrant OOC action. "im just rping a unexprienced cop" May ruin someone's round. Being a massive pain in the ass, a chucklefuck? That does warrant OOC action, however, it's not something, for what the offender will get anything else than a slap in the wrist, unless the offender is literally a griefer. Not communicating on the security channel, being someone like this? You can't just ban, you can't just fire someone for not talking over security comms, you can't really do anything other than writing long rants like this one you are reading now or Bokaza's one. And finally, last but not the least, whitelisting security? I assure you, everyone who already has some sort of whitelist is already at least a decent security player. Let's face it, the ones that are not decent, are here not to roleplay, interact and to create fun for others, but to catch antags (and go SSD if it's secret extended), or because of some other oblivious reasons. And, don't even try to use the "already understaffed security will thin in numbers even more", because I personally would rather see two decent officers, that are not bad, actually communicate over comms in proper english, do not waste equipment, etc etc, than "than three officers, of which two are SSD, warden being "fuck knows" where asleep without even a way to find him to take him to cryo, one CSI that is running around like a retard, that lost his crime kit, a detective that is doing exactly opposite of what he should be doing, not even capable of making a proper sentence in english over comms, and a security cadet that is constantly throwing flashbangs, and refuses to stop.", as said in my earlier post. Also, as it was already said (regarding anything about any whitelist), it's much easier to take away a whitelist, than to ban a player. Yes, it bothers me a lot. TL;DR: WE CAN DO LITERALLY NOTHING, OR ALMOST OVERKILL IT. I would love if my badly written, probably terrible grammatically, overly aggressive, oh my god, post actually made someone think "maybe, but maybe we should actually do something about this terrible security situation?".
-
I also took part in this specific round, I joined as a CMO to coordinate medical, as security was (as I thought) well-staffed. But, actually in-game, when that poor guy got gibbed (was later cloned), the only active security officer was Techno's Kaipov, which I would try to help by joining with my security officer, if I only knew that security is SSD. I will write a answer to Alberyk's post, later.

Well, I thought it was a, sort of, permanent genetic modification, so every child of a mother, that had her genes altered, will also have those genes, forcing them to mate only once. So, Weurusians, and their kids, would also be affected. Over time, slowly, every Skrell would get "infected", or they would need to resort to, more or less, incest. But, I'm not a lore writer.
-
Quality over quantity, or something. I would rather want one decent security officer visible on the crew manifest, than three officers, of which two are SSD, warden being "fuck knows" where asleep without even a way to find him to take him to cryo, one CSI that is running around like a retard, that lost his crime kit, a detective that is doing exactly opposite of what he should be doing, not even capable of making a proper sentence in english over comms, and a security cadet that is constantly throwing flashbangs, and refuses to stop. Really, the only decent officers I recently see already have some sort of whitelist (head or alien). We need to do something about security, preferably a sec-whitelist.

Descriptions for cult constructs (aka wtf is a goliath?)
Dreamix replied to Lady_of_Ravens's topic in Archive
We really need this. Because, on some rounds, half of the station believes that 'constructs' are just robots made by robotics, and the other half thinks that those are demon-hellish things powered by souls and stuff. This is pretty confusing, as sometimes people are trying to convince the other side that 'constructs' are robots/demons, which is also confusing. -
Well, rules. I don't think a case of medicinal grenades is anything other than "Oh look, I can do stuff you can't do, ordinary people". However, I would like to recommend you creating a thread in the private terminal: http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=43 Like this one: http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=3675 Slight edit: However, I think that a regular case would be okay, as a alternate skin to a "suitcase".

Identifying Species (it should be /really/ easy)
Dreamix replied to Lady_of_Ravens's topic in Archive
Except, when IPC people really don't want to be seen as synthetic, they don't 'hide' it in their examine/flavor text and talk like a actual organic thing. I even saw IPC's look like tajaras/unathis and talk like them, discovering that they are actually synthetic when they got their head bashed against the wall was always a smaller or bigger shock for me. And don't say that "creepyness" stuff, creepyness does not work, as you can just shrug it off and go away, or get powergamed to death because you thought that you tried to tase that IPC dressing as a human. There are various shades of stuff between shrugging and powergaming. I just picked the extremes. I am again "+1'ing" (is this even a thing?) this. -
What skrell stuff do you mean Dremix? http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2499&start=20#p25739 http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2876 Basically, these two. (stuff) Disclaimer: This is not an official statement from staff or devs, just someone that's been in contact with them sharing what I know. Amazing, thank you again. The thing that upsets me is a lack of basically any contact devs/admins----players/community. Why do I get to know about (pretty) important things "from someone, who maybe heard about it, but nothing official".

This reply may be overly passive aggressive. Thank you, Sierra and Serveris, your replies were actually helpful and not just "no, because no" or "no, because we can't just clap our hands and stuff". Seriously: Oh, I am sorry that I am so ungrateful and literally hitler and that I dared to ask. I already know that custom items are not easy (despite everyone that is not a mod/admin saying that custom items are the easiest thing to do), and I am 100% sure that I was not the only one that is curious about what's up with custom items. Really, it is so hard to just write a short reply about how everyone is currently busy and that apps may be starting to get done in a week later? Or just a simple estimation on how much time is left to start working on them? Or what is currently being worked on? I mean, what about the ground map? Do I need to use the byond pager to ask the mappers if the map is still there? What about Skrell stuff Skull was going to do? What about map fixes, such as warden not having evidence storage access or weird blastdoor-over-actualdoor things near engineering or in security's second exit? What about... Pretty much everything?
-
I hate to be this guy, but, seems like we are again in this phase of making progress, that is custom items being kill? I mean, applications should be starting to be approved/denied since 19/09/2015, but what is actually happening, is that unapproved apps are again piling up, just like it was before "The Great Archiving". So, am I poking the hive this time? Also, skrell whitelist apps are not being denied/approved/processed.

To me, the whole "mods" thing seems overpowered, with just a simple surgery needed to give a IPC x-ray vision, and attaching a suit cooler to IPC's, would make it EMP-vulnerable fast-walking dioneas. People can do self-surgery on themselves, mind you. Because, how else would you like to apply those modifications to IPC's? With coding? Physically? I just don't see it working well. Not even mentioning that it would be heavily abused, with IPC roboticists giving themselves all mods every shift.

Reporting Personnel: Nutrice Rank of Reporting Personnel: Chief Medical Officer Personnel Involved: Directly involved: Jack Sayek, Captain; Conway Miller, Head of Personnel; Innocent bystanders, witnesses: Amira Faraj, Security Officer; Phoebe Essel, Surgeon; Time of Incident: Tuesday 22 September 2457 ((started logging at "2015-09-22, 7 12 pm")) Location of Incident: The whole station, especially medbay. Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard [X]Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property [X]Neglect of Duty [X]Harassment [X]Assault [X]Misconduct []Other _____ Overview of the Incident: Due to me, the CMO, needing to deal with the geneticist that apparently happened to become, what is commonly named as, "hulk", but what I believe is irrelevant to the incident report as the geneticist's contract was later terminated, I called security. Captain, mister Jack Sayek, arrived along with a security officer, Faraj. I, myself, after arriving to the location, where the "hulk" incident took place, there was blood on the floor, Captain Sayek was wielding some kind of weaponry, unfortunately, my video/visual sensors couldn't register whether it was some kind of energy pistol, or a telescopic baton. I assumed so, that Captain Sayek failed to avoid the "hulk" to come to harm, possibly breaking his implant, and/or physically and directly assaulted the "hulk". A short moment later, I found the "hulk" almost dead, seeking immediate medical attention. The "hulk" had excessive brute damage on him. During the process of me treating "hulk's" wounds, Captain Sayek repeatedly threatened the janitor, due to her apparently deciding to clean medbay's floors. Quoting, "I will kill the janitor". See, built in recorder log one. During the process of me cleaning "hulk's" DNA, Captain Sayek was constantly insulting and threatening the "hulk". After the "hulk" miraculously broke out of his handcuffs, Captain Sayek assaulted the "hulk" with his telescopic baton, what was unnecessary and uncalled use of physical force, as I already flashed the "hulk" with my standard issued flash. See, recorder log two. Later, after Central Command questioned Captain Sayek's loyalty implant by requesting us to test Sayek's implant, what I believe, Captain Sayek tried to verbally threaten me, trying to dissuade you from filing this report. See, recorder log three. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: No. Reasoning, the Head of Personnel, mister Miller, was directly involved in the occurrence of the incident. However, Central Command was aware about the captain Sayek's, possibly, implant malfunction and according to mister Miller, ordered us to test their implant. Additional notes: Recorder log one. Recorder log two. Recorder log three. ((The hulk was probably a griefer/chucklefuck, admins "have been watching". The round gamemode was secret-extended. I meant to post it yesterday, but, because of lack of time, I was forced to do it today. Also, I had fun writing this, not because I don't like Sayek or anything, but because I may actually influence others in-game actions and that I can give DO's some work to do.))

Player Complaint: spacevoidagent, The Storyteller, Etc.
Dreamix replied to Eliot Clef's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I am just going to hop in, and ask something I think is relevant and (maybe) important. So, why is "hate" directed towards Tajaran and/or their players "bad" or "unwanted", but hating security is okay? I mean, people are shouting in OOC about harm batoning, shitcurity and how security is bad. People are shouting IC-ly about how security is bad, how "police" violence takes place on the station. People are willing to nerf security because people are abusing their stuff, and to curb security's behaviors. People are and were ranting about security since I remember, generally, saying that they are bad. Can we stop this, please? I am a security player, and I would like to play normally, without being accused of being "shitcurity". Now, read that again. But replace "security" with "tajaran", "batoning" with "clawing", "shitcurity" with "cats/filthy catbeast" and "police" with "tajara race". And please don't give me some bullshit about how security is not a race, or that they are FUBAR. -
Code green. Usually, on green, people don't run around with ballistics, and when they do, it's usually non-canon, so you can't remember that and always wear armour. On the subject, it would be cool to actually see security officers walk around in suits, ties and stuff, like some kind of blue internal security. But, I see no other reason to disallow security of wearing armour on green.
-
What I think is relevant. Mmhm. I agree, +1 and stuff. However, this problem covers a little more than just Tajarans. Any topic, whether it's robots, cats, lizards, security, anything. Some just people cannot resist screaming "shitcurity", "burn cats", "gas lizards", "ban Voltage/whoever", "nazinazipenispenis", "i always shoot robots on sight", "alwys ham baton guise", you get the idea. While I myself am a nazi furry-hater, I don't "shitpost" in OOC. And I don't turn every discussion into a "throwing joke insults at everything and everybody"-party. Just observe how OOC talks go on, on our server. This is relevant, I believe that OOC would end sooner or later, or a healthy discusscussion would never happen. That is why we can't have nice things. http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=3625&start=10#p35930
