  1. Uh. Because it's just not fair, I may have not used the right word, but yeah. It's just, well, a home world of shitposting, a lair of memes +occasional leaving posts. I would actually be in favor of off-topic posts not being counted towards the total post count. Like, if you have (for example, of course) 1234 posts, and 90% of those are off-topic posts, maybe you are on the wrong forum?
  2. I actually disagree with this, yet I'm still opposed to the complaint or punishment being handed out.(...) (...)This is described as "playing along with the wizard", and while it's hard to get everyone in a round to play along, it's a lot easier when the wizard is civil, nonviolent, and you have some smart members of command ready to organize and defuse things (they wouldn't /necessarily/ be fired by NT either, it's all about attitude in approaching a highly unusual problem)(...) (...)Now, were the actions that prevented the wizard from executing their plan and interacting with most of the crew Halo's fault? I think not, for the following reasons: (...) Why do you disagree, Frances-senpai. Sure, there's "playing along with the wizard". But there's also "playing along/acting in non-suspicious manner/not insulting/actually cooperating with security". You can't help someone, if that someone doesn't want to let you help him. Imagine, if the wizard wasn't doing what she was doing, calmly asking the cadet/IAA to leave, telling non-bullshit to the HoS, cooperating. Wouldn't it be easier? And, yeah, I actually interrogated once (or twice) a peaceful wizard, I tried to ask them for proper ID's/documentation/passports. I also played as my security officer, escorting wizards countless times. I actually like those "explody" rounds. You don't have to find out if the wizard is hostile, it was a bluespace accident, or if he missed his party. Peaceful wizards just come, without any official documents, act quite literally like kids ("are you really saying, that I can't EMP randomly, and that the armoury is a restricted/highly secure place?"), counting on the crew to let them wander around, demanding all-access ID's from heads, with the only argument being "I'm a wizard, do what I want, or I will file a complaint about you not playing along with the wizard" (albeit, not literally, I believe that's usually the atmosphere, during peace-wizard rounds). No, I don't believe that deleting wizards completely is a good idea. Yes, there are people who sometimes enjoy wizard rounds. Yes, I have an idea, on how to enhance wizard-crew experience. Fairly easy one, I believe. See how the gemmed/encrusted/ /whatever/Iforgottheword-spell works? Add a few more spells, maybe Adam-Jensen suit set, trenchcoat, jackboots, sunglasses, maybe some futuristic psyker suits, maybe a clown suit, who knows?
  3. In regards to mechanical differences, Skrells were supposed to be changed/improved: No idea when the idea was binned. +Accents. +The genophage/disease/whatever. Skrells aren't really a dying race. Two quotes: "The females can lay anywhere between 5-50 eggs"+"this led to the Skrell coming up with a serum that made it impossible for a Skrell mother to give birth to more than one batch of eggs during her entire life." So, yeah. 5-50 kids per mother/father pair means many kids. Take look at China (if I have my facts/sources right), families/father+mother/pairs are only supposed to have one child, and China's still overpopulated.
  4. Well, the accent/slurring is not necessary. To prove my point, I am playing my Skrell characters without it, talking normally. My application was accepted, it was mentioned within it, that my Skrell trained out/lost their accent. The application. Other player's reply, to other player's application. Presuming that slurring is character-dependent. Quoting: "As the person who wrote ALL of the Skrell lore the slurring is not and should not be forced, they have trouble pronouncing things, but that doesn't mean with enough practise they wouldn't be able to." So, yeah. Besides that, other points/things are still valid. As I imagine, right now there are two major groups of Skrell, these are two extremes/opposites: - Super advanced, focused on science, space faring Skrells, that are so advanced and super-duper, they genophaged their own race. - And we also have swamp Skrells, that still believe in Dioneas. That's just plain stupid. That's like still believing in mythological gods, in XXI century. Also, give Skrells some variety! Look: this thread. More colours! Maybe unique Feudal (or however's it called) Japan-like clothes.
  5. Well, given that Inis is neither a lesbian nor a furry gives me the impression you are just throwing those terms around to insult and discredit me. Nice; classy. just- Really getting tired of all the bashing going around. Why? If you don't like lesbians, Gays, Trans or furries. Then let me give you some friendly advice- Ignore it and move on without saying anything. As Many would say "If you don't have somthing nice to say, Don't say anything" Besides- this is supposed to be a place do civilly discuss things civilly and to iron out issues, even if you get upset there is a professional way to do so. Tossing around slurs and other terms in an offensive manner is not appropriate. Now- I have seen you use them quite a few times on the forums before, I don't know is you are trying to be offensive, or just don't care, Or if you don't realize it's offensive(witch I would hope is the case) But I would just like to ask everyone to please tone it down a little bit. We can discuss this civilly with everyone still being respected for who they are. Additional note: Sorry if this came out seeming like I was angry or somthing- I'm really not, I just wanted to extend the reminder that there are Actual Lesbians and Actual Furries In our community and that terms used in such a manner can be offensive- lets try and keep everyone in respects here please. Thank you for your time- Sorry for the irrelevant post here, Just trying to help, And I hope everyone has a wonderful day :dontusesmiliesD. You clearly don't seem to see the difference between actual lesbian/gay characters, and SSL's. Actual, normal homosexuals are, well, normal people. You won't notice that a character is gay, just by merely looking at them. They are normal, they come to Aurora to work. They don't go around flashing their gay-ness. See: Jason Finn, a perfectly normal character, I found out that he's gay by hovering over him as a ghost. I haven't seen Finn any recently, probably because I'm not playing as much as I used to. SSL (from: suicide space lesbian, most likely a joke term): usually a stereotypical female. Usually with dyed hair, dressed in dresses, whispers and cuddles in maintenance/medbay lobby/wherever with their waifus/loved ones, while ignoring work. May be a male/female that's looking for a "booty"/partner, while as usual, ignoring the actual work. May, but doesn't need to, actually suicide over a loss of the beloved one/rejection. Characters, that wander around/SSD/AFK because their ERP partner isn't there also count. See: (I don't want to actually write down the IC/OOC names of those, so yeah) countless medbay nurses. Edit: Also, I'm not even going to be explaining why "If you don't have somthing nice to say, Don't say anything"-mindset is wrong. This is, uh, not how it works. If your things are bad (such as bad haircut, terrible grammar mistakes, horribly executed lesbian characters), you need "collide with/meet the reality". Life's hard, any by creating a utopia/utopistic/paradise praise-only world, nothing has even a chance become better, there's no improvement. How many artists improved, only because someone wrote a angry rant, explaining why their shit is actually shitty, and why they should improve? Sometimes, you just need a gentle (or not) nudge from life. Because, life's hard +stuff about life giving you lemons. I'd like to remain neutral here, through. Back on topic: What... We are HRP server. Players, by letting you have fun (which is a relative/conditional/undefinable term), wouldn't roleplay (as in the rules) "believable" characters. If anyone, especially the HoS, let you party, they would be fired (I'm 100% sure of this one). In my (humble) opinion, HoS's roleplay was held at higher standard, not because he "permabrigged" you (and he didn't, as IIRC Hive explained), but because he actually roleplayed a believable/realistic/sane character. If the round was actually canon, your white cat would be executed/imprisoned forever by NT. If the round was actually canon, Truesight would probably be fired forever, for risking NT's assets/helping the intruer. NT probably doesn't like their high-security areas infiltrated/damaged. "I lost my way to the party" is not a valid excuse, that doesn't even sound like a serious answer. B-b-but FUN?! I want to have my fun, mister angry doggie? We are a HRP server. I personally believe that HoS's roleplay was actually the best that round. What HoS's wouldn't try to protect his shit (station, crew, NT's business there)? B-b-but FUN?! Others can post memes, and stuff? You are not others. Others (such as halo's OOC behavior, or spouting memes during other rounds) aren't the subject of this complaint. This particular round/HoS/player IC behavior is.
  6. At least Jackboot wasn't leaving permanently. You know, forever. Because, uh, it would be awkward to return now.
  7. Shit, they're going to ban our mememaster. Don't ge't ban't.
  8. Just allow skrells to use a broader range of colours. Right now, Skrells can be light-green, yellow, pink, maybe light-blue (I'm not 100$ sure, I can't check it at the moment). Darker, and more varied, body colours to choose from would be nice.
  9. But why? Slime mobs demonstrate intelligence, and an ego. "I'm hungry" and "[charname]... friend..." So given that why would you lose your mind so completely? I believe, slimes are capable of making a psychical link with nearby living things. They send simple messages to you, signifying their state. You may even imagine that slimes don't actually send "words", but "emotions/needs", and it's you, who's hallucinating (albeit in a really mild way), being manipulated by slimes to feed them, let them grow, and to divide. Why "i'm hungry", then? Slimes have just one purpose of their short lives. To eat and divide. Why "befriending", then? Slimes need to eat. Sure, they could attempt eating a nearby xenobiologist, but actually leaving him intact and letting him leaving a monkey in their pens is easier, and more profitable on the long run. But, well, you could theorize about such things for hours.
  10. Pretty sure there's a more reliable makeshift PSU board in the research tree somewhere. You are referring to the bulky PSU-machine-something, that's created by combining a PSU board and a couple of power cells. This PSU does not have any GUI's, and cannot be made into a proper SMES (with in/out wires), but I'm not sure about those.
  11. I don't know any memes. http:// AmIdoingthis ... s][/color]">
  12. Now, this doesn't classify them as non-crew, but it does limit their ability to do ANYTHING AT ALL. They are also considered experiments at this point and standard containment/study should be observed. Unless, they've done some paperwork. Just like genetics work, no paperwork, no leaving your lab/department. But, yeah. Good luck having someone sign your suicide (slime-ification) form. But, I can't think of a sane, mature person, that would alter their DNA/change themselves into a slime. And, I can't imagine a self respecting mega corporation, such as NanoTrasen, not immediately firing/terminating their employees who were stupid enough to turn themselves into slimes.
  13. Seems relevant.
  14. Shhhhh. Don't let them notice. Let these recipes be our little secret.
  15. I think, you are failing to separate IC and OOC. Being brigged may be a 'unfun' punishment for a character. Dying out of boredom in a cell. Cleaning floors as a 'retribution' for hours. Being used as a science test subject, risking death. Boarding the crew transfer shuttle, knowing that you will get fired, because of all the things you did throughout the shift. Maybe dying. All of that is not fun, a sane character wouldn't want any of this. Would fear dying. It's not fun in a IC way. But it may be a pleasant OOC/game experience. Trying to break out with other detainees, thinking of coordinated escape plans, to get out just one of you. Interacting with people passing by you, 'accidentally' slipping people and helping them up. Being a necessary aid in important research findings, giving the medbay some things to do, by near-dying as a result. Boarding the crew shuttle while having a mental breakdown, being cheered up by your fellow assistant. Dying somewhere in maintenance, knowing that someone is crying in grief. That's sort of fun. The second thing. That's what people posting in this thread want, I believe. Opportunities to roleplay, instead of just being left in a cell. Being allowed to roleplay (sure, you can just talk with passing by non-brigged people through a window, or with security officers, but it's just not that), to interact with people. To actually have a pleasant OOC experience. For you. For me, and majority (I believe) of people playing here, dying actually may sometimes be fun. Choosing to kill yourself by swallowing a cyanide pill, to not give the nuke op pleasure to kill you the 'hard way', while the roleplaying situation was actually roleplayed. A fight club champion being overtaken by 'just assistant'. A honorable fight between a unathi, and a changeling. Being a subject of a revenge. There are lots of fun ways to die, fun for the dying, and the killing one. Let's become extended-only server, then. Sometimes, people want to get arrested, there are lots of various reasons. Maybe, someone just wanted to steal something, just to give security something to do, and someone to roleplay with, for example. Also, antags, sometimes plans just don't go well. You are assuming that everyone is a chucklefuck that's just hates security, don't do that, please. Maybe, you should take a break. Not going on a 'hiatus' (or whatever), while occasionally posting (sort of) hateful posts on forums and holding onto the lore-writer position. But actually giving up for a month of two
  16. Uh. Electronic, calm, slow (?). I think I'd want to work to this.
  17. I don't understand why this post has two likes. Are you saying that the game is less fun when security does their job and arrests people for being criminals? I think they are saying that being thrown into a cell for 30-ish minutes, with nothing fun to do, is well, not fun. Really, sometimes security acts like it's their hated, IRL job, a really shitty one, "oh god, i need to brig that fucking retard, again, i will kill myself if that continues, god i hate this". edit: From the OOC stand-point, of course, it's not really fun or interesting. Sure, you can try to mindlessly talk about the weather, or gossip, but it's just not that. From IC view-point, I believe that 15 minute sentence is not the only punishment a character receives after, for example, stealing something. I wish people would roleplay them being screened /interviewed /questioned /interrogated off-work by not-DO's, more. /edit On topic: Minor crimes are okay, I guess. Unless you repeatedly do it, to the point of me (or others) thinking that your character probably should be fired, by now. Just remember, that not only DO's can fire your character, you can fire your own character, too.
  18. It's happening!
  19. 200HP, that they don't really get to use, since they get disabled quite easily, look: people reporting IPC's to be squishy.
  20. There were things, but were deleted by a forum moderator. ~Dreamix On the topic, I think that Techno's behavior is rather unpleasant. The constant bickering and mocking others, on forums and in-game ("gassing the catbeasts", mocking lesbians). The valid-hunting behaviors, semi-afking in security until someone's needed to be robusted, anti antagonistic attitude, suggestions of more ways for security and antags to fight (suggesting chainsaws, and other things). Being overly-robust without knowing where to stop. Saltiness after dying, you call it. Complaining about how Aurora is bad. Sometimes, I wonder if Techno shouldn't be playing on less-HRP servers. EDIT: I would like them to tone it down a little.
  21. so basically. ...this could be handled icly. Run an ic report. And maybe rp with the charater to lrean why she has high disregard for her safety. ...yep all that sounds like things that could be handled icly aaaaaand, that's why we are all gathered up here. To determine if this really is a IC issue that can be solved IC-ly with DO's help or not. You see, Safiya's questionable genetic (pink, glowing), and not (topless, flirty), actions may or may not violate the: "Characters must be believable, and well-rounded. No insane or psychotic characters. No Mary Sues."-rule. Don't you think? You can't just order us to "solve it IC-ly" and disregard everything that has been said on this entire thread. You can't just tell us that your character is perfectly sane and capable of working here, and also has IC reasons to genetically change themselves, but also providing "find why out IC-ly" as the only explanation. That's not how it works, and the staff and lore team is to determine if it's a IC issue, or a rule-breaking offence. The "it's a IC issue"-reasoning shouldn't be really ever used in player complaints. So yeah, I bombed the medbay as a non-antag, that was IC issue, find out why IC-ly. So what, my character is a 18 year old lizard yellow captain, find out why, IC-ly. You can go on and on.
  22. What I think is relevant and sort of important: Topless'ness aside: I, personally, would just like the_ (fuck, that sound so cool ;_; TheUnderscore) to tone it down, and to "empathize with/immerse into" (these probably aren't right words) the character. Why would the geneticist fiddle with their genes like that? Wouldn't others be making fun of them, or maybe they would face off-work consequences (being fired, or warned, not just by DO corp, people can even fire their own characters, if they think it's justified and appropriate), or perhaps they should fear some strange genetic, permanent disabilities, sicknesses and diseases? I believe, genetics isn't just: "punch a few buttons = you're a hulk; press some more = you're no more a hulk", I believe those are years of risky researching and testing. There's a reason we have paperwork (waivers) and protohumans. Genetics is supposed to be difficult, unsafe and dangerous field of research, not something where you can give out powers like candy, and not fear any repercussions. Also, I would like to note, that maybe posting things like: "so tired of this bullshit", "this has literally become children complaining about nothing" or "relentless bitching about air" is probably not the right way to defend yourself, you are just repeating stereotypes and schemes, of a really upset and aggressive pro-furry-someone. I'm 1000% sure, that people haven't teamed up on the_, just to convince the staff to perma-ban them, no need to be so aggressive, maybe there actually is a problem, but someone is just refusing to see it. And why the_, you ask? Because it's hella easier to track/punish regulars, than to seek that one-time offender, or that random baldie that logged in for the first, and last, time here. And again, I think that Frances (and other posters) probably mean, that it's just a bad beggining, to a series of unfortunate events. First, this, then some people, maybe not exactly the_, sometime, not today, maybe in the future, will do things that won't be nice.
  23. Quick, post your Resomi apps! edit: But only before we realize that no more new races will be implemented any soon.
  24. Just to quote the wiki: Wouldn't a badge, or a light bomber jacket be good? I have no idea.
