  1. Mmhm. I agree, +1 and stuff. However, this problem covers a little more than just Tajarans. Any topic, whether it's robots, cats, lizards, security, anything. Some just people cannot resist screaming "shitcurity", "burn cats", "gas lizards", "ban Voltage/whoever", "nazinazipenispenis", "i always shoot robots on sight", "alwys ham baton guise", you get the idea. While I myself am a nazi furry-hater, I don't "shitpost" in OOC. And I don't turn every discussion into a "throwing joke insults at everything and everybody"-party. Just observe how OOC talks go on, on our server. This is relevant, I believe that OOC would end sooner or later, or a healthy discusscussion would never happen. That is why we can't have nice things.

  3. You sure you want a "auto-injector"? Because the station spawns with lots of those. You can find boxes full of those in various lockers, and you can always order another box (along with first-aid kits, syringes, and something else) for some cheap price from cargo. However, auto-injectors are cheap, but not multi-use. Sure, you can fill them with stuff, but after using them, they break leaving a broken injector. So, would your character engrave a custom auto-injector every shift? You sure you don't want a "hypo-spray"? That's the better auto-injector, with 15 units capacity (I think),and ability to refill it after use. So, yes, those are multi-use. However, there's only one available on the station, that spawns in CMO's locker. So, no, it wouldn't be balanced if you were spawning with another one, due to obvious balance'y stuff (If I'm right, you could give someone 30 units of a chemical without any waiting times or cooldowns). But, a item-mod (I forgot how's it called >.<, that custom thing that changes item's look, once. Modkit?) would be fine, I guess.

  5. Blah, blah, blah. Just wanted to speak up. And here's me, I just want someone to kill me, without it being a gank (random kill, just for the sake of killing), or literally taking me out of cryo for a execution. Last time I remember me dying as a humanoid character was 2-3 months ago, during nuke, when I died because security rushed a pack of operatives with hostages with EMP's, and my character's mechanic heart exploding in the process. Really, I even make my characters talk-first with obviously (from the OOC point of view) antags, my non-command humans have a synthetic heart, and command humans don't use sunglasses and leave their guns in their lockers. I even let people enter my office to talk with them, just waiting for them to take their gun out of their satchels, and aim at me from across the desk. Of course, I don't want it to look like I'm 'griefing', making my character too vulnerable and literally giving them my ID, disarming them, and suiciding. I just don't get to die, I would like to see some antags break into the bridge using bombs, guns blazing all the way into my office and I would be happy to surrender. Or angry employee to come to their office with a gun, killing their superiors. That does not happen, however. Also, "murderboning". Unless I was killed for the sake of killing, and actually my character's death gave something to the killer (whether it's access, intel, silencing, stealing of identity, making others fearful, anything), I will not make a complaint. Also, "metagrudging". I will try to see my, and the supposed metagrudger actions in a "objective light/point of view". If will then try to see who was wrong, and who was right. And even if I will make a player/character/staff complaint, I will try to clarify a few things, and probably ask for archiving it a few days later.

  7. things and stuff Just to clarify, because somehow that did not ended up in the original post. By all means, I am not running around, screaming about how my IPC's are superior to your puny mortals. So far, I used this three, or four times to set up the singularity engine at 0:20, when there were no engineers present, after asking a head of staff, and with the help of AI. My characters just refuse to do anything outside of their job (Unless its a minor thing like moving a table, or applying a bandage. Or the singularity engine, of course.), claiming that they won't be paid for doing it, and it would be a waste of resources. Also, I'm asking because it does not look very convincing to see my IPC character's blank employment records. It would be nice to have a page on the wiki, dedicated to some synthetic studies, or synthetic schooling programs.

  9. http://aurorastation.org/wiki/index.php?title=NanoTrasen_Occupation_Qualifications So, do IPC players needs to stick to this, forcefully/artificially making their characters older, just to make them fit for that head of staff position (or literally any position), or can just say that occupation qualifications do not apply to synthetic units? How about "applicable degrees from accredited schools"? IPC's need to somehow complete these schools, or can just download lots of guides and aid from the extranet, rendering themselves as fit for duty? Can IPC's have every skill set to "experienced" on their skill sets, as they already know everything due to existence of the extranet? Or need to "forgot" how to set up the singularity engine, when they happened to be a medical doctor? It bothers me a lot. I mean, I already have some IPC characters, that are 17-years old and they know everything, but just refuse to "take someone's work".

  11. I would like to note Prospekt's OOC behavior, after ganking Technokat's character (after getting a permission from the staff, which seems ridiculous for me) on 2015-09-14 (I started loggin on 7 25 pm). John Gaines was played by Prospekt. https://gyazo.com/cbc34c6a82172c6a17cb7f813aab4811 https://gyazo.com/b20312551d8df2c0f28e47c4944639a2 https://gyazo.com/e7d48ad3c401788ddf6c6ced047008e3 Just "butthurting" in deathchat, one could say. Arguing, insulting Techno over him not really doing anything. Being overly-defensive, especially this: https://gyazo.com/b37ea8778c5c7051d97e12c0e2c787ce Today's round, log 2015-09-15 (5 55 pm). 15. That actually raises some valid concerns. I was under the impression that IPCs by design did not have a proper culture or identity. While I've seen several IPCs form bonds of kinship, I think part of their appeal is that they're these "ronins" of the sci-fi world, that can adapt to other ideas and cultures but struggle to form an identity of their own. (...) This. Look at Katelynn, for example. I would have been fine having access to Sol common /instead/ of the IPC's language, as my character's backstory is based around them being born and raised on earth, then becoming a cyborg. However, that idea got stuck down, so she magically /forgot/ the language that she grew up speaking, instead suddenly knowing tradeband? Makes sense. This is the second best option. Yes, Katelynn is what I originally meant. So, what does Katelynn (a cyborg that was human before her accident), one of my fully-NT androids, one random line model robot made by Hephaistus industries, and a totally random bespoke unit have in common? Language? That's just... Does not make any sense, and would be really problematic. Everyone (different company's, different makers, in different times) just universally agreed to program their robots to use this language? Would station-bound borgs be able to hear AND speak in this language? For human-like races it makes sense, they all came from the same planet, whether it's Terra or Adhomai. Also: ...Are you saying that all IPC's have something in common, something more than being a member of the IPC/Shell race? I think it is quite the opposite, I actually saw TV-heads show that they are disgusted that other synthetic units try to 'pose' as an organic being (synthetic skin and stuff). Hell, I even saw human-like, organic crew being disgusted that IPC's try to be a human or a tajara. So yeah, no. So (for example, of course), your cyborg is not even a little similar to my TV-heads.

  17. How about 'shells'? Would only TV-heads have this language? How about shells that are basically a brain with all-body prosthetics?

  21. Well, whenever I see a ghost/chameleon traitor gear/changeling's armblade/wizard spells/other stuff when I'm playing my synthetics, I usually play dumb, assuming a malfunction of the camera component, basically making them show me a physical proof, or a scientific explanation. Also, I think that ghosts being perceived as "holograms" is dumb. I mean, holograms shouldn't be that advanced technology, to allow showing near perfect views of dead persons. I'm all for this.

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: To explore new possibilities. I adore how Skrells are the most technologically advanced race in the Aurora universe. They are superior to other races, as they are prideful and... let me just quote it, as I cannot find words on how to describe it: "Skrell tend not to react to these insults however, not because they do not care, but because Skrell are often prideful and would prefer not to lose face with a confrontation, this kind of emotional reaction is quite common in Skrell, and they have earned a reputation for it". Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The most important, they are asexual, and do not distinct and do not really care about genders and families, considering the hatching process. It sure is different to treat everyone equally, despite the differences in their genders, looks and other things. Also, their culture. Character Name: I have no idea ;_; help Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Hatched from a pair of high councillors on Jargon IV swamps, becoming a result of a process necessary to continue their lineage. Being an offspring of a, what could be considered as a noble family, she had only bright future ahead of her. She spent her childhood entirely underwater, in mossy swamps, hence the green colour of her skin, being Weurusian skrell, she adopted Dienabi religion from her biological parents. Despite her never actually seeing a dionea, due to pure fortuity, she was a eager to became one inside and psychically, considering that she was already covered in moss, through hard work and self improvement. After her childhood, she was selected to became a secretary assistant of a Jarsian great governor. She was great at it, being a pretty good advisor, she was offered a state councillor position of a minor, small state. She was influenced by the local religion, altariser, she noticed how closer it was to her mind, than dienabi, she quickly assimilated it. However, that was also a political move, to become a country councillor governor, she had to profess the most religion, Altariser. At the age of thirty five, she was offered a position as a executive officer on a generic space vessel, due to the satisfactory ruling of her governorate. Considering the fascination of dioneas in her childhood, she took the job, becoming a proper executive officer in Skrellian navy. As she became older, she was ordered a position on a bigger ship, this time, as a captain. Denying the offer, but keeping the executive officer rank, she was learning and seeking self improvement. Considering her political and military history, summit of her possibilities, she was looking for a long-term employment on distant, or not, worlds. Due to her past careers, previous religion and skrellian asexual nature, she was deemed mostly unbiased, tolerant and experienced. A perfect captain of NanoTrasen's vessels, one could say. She was quickly employed as one, on a super freighter, Amundsen, gaining the status of a tier 12 captain of the second level. Due to lack of contact with other skrells, she was successfully losing her slurring accent, becoming a step closer to her alien coworkers and subordinates. After some time, and climbing the career ladder, she was assigned to research stations in Tau Ceti region. Mainly to Ara, Antlia and of course, Aurora. What do you like about this character? Everything, how she's designed to become a captain, considering the skrellian 'highborn' and technologically and biologically advanced nature. I developed this character with a focus on interracial and 'interjob' role-play, rather than focusing on mechanics in the game such as robusting and stuff. Also, let me quote "most Skrell would not engage in a fight or a challenge that they could not win". How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7-8/10 Notes: This will be hard, she was a Weurusian Country Councillor Governor, converted from Dienabi to Altariser and ex-XO on a navy ship.

  25. The OOC stuff is good, and the player is capable of playing a head of staff. Now, about the character. Jason Finn is one of the most realistic/immersive characters on Aurora I saw. He's normal, that's what he is, he is not a snowflake of some sort, he is showing human emotions, such as fear, and actually is involved in some relationships, not only romantic ones. He's cheerful and nice, whether he is a bartender, a chef or a nursing intern. I wish I had some more time to roleplay with him. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about Enzo Kryll. However, I think that Jason shouldn't be a CMO. As far as I am aware, he's not really 'brave', and overall competent. I understand, express aging, but I just don't see it. But, I am sure that Jason would be a pretty good head of personnel. I believe that he would talk with the crew about their problems and issues, instead of just calling security, he would be the listener, and the conflict resolver. All my +1, through.
