  1. The reason I did not accept input is because hacking doors into maint as a roboticist is already against the rules. As far as your attitude goes- You pushed back repeatedly after told it was against the rules. I don't intend to argue here so I feel we should both wait for more input,
  2. Other photo for reference
  3. Posting full ticket for reference I just want to start off by saying that I did misspeak when I said you caused a breach. However, I rephrased in the following messages. When I first asked if you were hacking doors you did say “no, it got vented while I was in there”. To me this seems like a way to weasel out of admitting you were hacking a door (something that you later admitted too after I sent the pictures). The long pauses in our communication were due to me asking more senior staff how to proceed. I also do not appreciate you attacking me as a person (bringing up my degrees and whatnot) as that is not relevant to the issue at hand. Regardless on how you feel about maint not being as secure as the bridge it does not mean you can freely hack into it. That as well as your general attitude in the ahelps is why you got a day ban.
  4. Artem views the NKA as a rebel kingdom. This is due to the fact that Artem views the PRA as the only legitimate ruling state of Adhomai. (Let me know if you want some more expansion this) As far as Artem's religion is concerned; he is trending towards becoming an atheist. While his parents (and himself by extension) were S'rand'marr Worshipers in name the fact that the PRA is a secular state has only strengthened Artem's views that religion is not entirely needed in day to day life. So if anything I would say their views have become more secularized to the point that they do not actively think of their religion.
  5. BYOND Key: RyverStyx Character Names: Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Silver (RGB 192, 192, 192 / Hex #c0c0c0) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: The Tajaran history and lore is incredibly fascinating to me. For starters, the four separate ethnicities of Tajara show the wide array of playstyles that an individual can use when playing as a Tajara while also having deep impact in both a character's backstory and lore. To me it is incredibly interesting the way Tajaran evolution has both naturally evolved as well as the way that Tajaran politics and tensions have caused selective breeding within their population. This means that no two Tajara would be alike- and it also causes possible rifts when meeting other Tajara. The Uprisings that also plague Adhomai's past is probably my favorite part about the Tajaran lore and it is one of the main reasons I would love to play a Tajara. The total dynamic shift of Tajaran civilization and culture will cause a lot of interesting story points for both my character and those who my character comes into contact with! The expansive lore for the PRA, ALA, DPRA, and NKA seemed overwhelming to me at first but now I look at it as a whole new story that I would love to be a part of! I am also curious as to how the lore will progress in the future; whether that be through events, updates, or more. Whenever I play a character I am looking to advance not only my own story but everyone else's on the station. The wealth of Tajaran lore and the different ways that a Tajara can interact with both other species and their own is truly astounding; there are definitely many ways for a character to progress not only their own story but the Aurora's story as a whole! Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: In-game mechanics for Tajara differ somewhat from a human- although the difference is not major it should still be taken into account when roleplaying. For instance, a Tajara should know that they do not punch (instead they utilize their claws). For a human who is angry just punching someone won't normally get you in a whole lot of trouble. But, as a Tajara if you scratch someone and draw blood it will be seen as more serious. Likewise- Tajara take more brute damage with the tradeoff of being quicker. Their fur even makes them more comfortable in colder environments in-game. This means that they are prone to overheating if an area is too hot. Also- The different breeds of Tajara will affect the way you role-play within the game. Of course there are many more small in-game mechanics that differ but I simply do not want to repeat from the wiki. However, the in-game mechanics are not the only thing to consider when role-playing as a Tajara. The different split between the breeds of the Tajara in the lore will lead to a different role-play experience as well. A member of a different breed may look down on a Zhan for example due to the perceived inferiority of their intellect. On the opposite end of the spectrum a Njarir’Akhran may be given a greater status when you first meet them in-game. The lore, breed, accent, and background should be taken into account when roleplaying with other Tajara in round and in game. Character Name: Artem Kuznetsov Please provide a short backstory for this character Artem was born in Tampiska during the year of 2440 to two M'sai parents; Varis and Maria Kuznetsov, both of whom worked in cargo inspections of the factories of Tampiska. While the family was not religious they were S'rand'marr Worshipers in name. Artem's parents were very secretive about what they did in their free time; giving Artem little info during his younger years and often leaving him alone in their house once he was old enough to somewhat look out for himself. Artem's sister, Anya, was born in the year of 2450 when Artem was 10. Artem had a special attachment to his younger sister Anya; and often took the role of her caretaker when his parents were absent. It would later come to light that Varis and Maria were part of early dissident movements and would later join the Liberation Army after it's formation. With the ALA coming into formation during the year of 2451, 11 year old Artem's parents attempted to push their viewpoints onto him. They told him that they were not truly free under the PRA and that true freedom needs to be fought for and won. While Artem had his reserves... he ultimately trusted his parent's viewpoint (even though he resented them slightly for being absent most of his life). In the year 2455 his parents were meeting with 2 other Liberation Army members in the living area of their family home. Artem and Anya quietly play on the floor underneath the dining room table with toys; completely oblivious to the various parts of machinery and papers atop the table as well as the discussion going on from the connected living room. Artem fondly remembers the way that Anya giggled and laughed as they made their small dolls dance and talk. However, all of the sudden, everything turned into a blur. Artem was suddenly laying on the floor across the room and could not feel his right arm. He could not hear a thing; aside from the extremely loud ringing that now occupied his ears. He was extremely confused and could see his little sister, Anya, laying still- bleeding from a wound on her head. As it turns out, the machinery atop the table was a small explosive device in the making; intended for use in the ALA's fights against the PRA. The room was in absolute chaos- All of the adults immediately rushed to their aide. However, to Artem, it seemed like time slowed down and an eternity passed before they reached him. The following night was a complete whirlwind of various ALA doctors looking at Artem's wounds in secret due to the fear that going to an established hospital would alert the PRA to their illegal deeds. Artem would frequently cry out for his sister but his parents would only turn and hide their faces. Later in the night, to Artem's horror, it was revealed that Anya was sitting directly underneath the explosive... She did not survive. Artem was inconsolable; the one family member who actually cared about him was cruelly ripped away in an instant. Artem was plagued with what-ifs. What if he was sitting in Anya's spot? Would she still live? What if Artem had alerted the authorities to his parents illegal activities? What if they decided to play in the living room instead? These questions ran repeatedly through his head. They plagued his mind throughout his restless nights at the ALA doctor's secret clinics. In the following days Artem's wounds on his arm worsened- the doctors had did all they could for it but it seemed too far gone. Artem's arm would have to be amputated for fear of infection forming and spreading to his body. This further infuriated Artem. He thought, "Why should I suffer due to my parents negligence? What if I was taken to a REAL doctor; would I still have my arm? Why should Anya be ripped from this world due to their beliefs?". He vowed that when he was able; he would make things right... And he knew just what to do. He hid his true feelings and thoughts from his parents. Instead he showed them the complete opposite. He pretended that this incident strengthened his trust in the ALA. He asked to be included in more meetings. More campaigns. He wanted to be all-in. In 2456, around a year after the incident, the now 16 year-old Artem had collected all the info that he needed. He quietly slipped out of an ongoing meeting armed with documents, photographs, and evidence he had collected in the past year; he quietly made his way to the local PRA installation. He handed over this evidence in exchange for one thing; a new, robotic arm. The PRA members were impressed with Artem's collection of names, evidence, and photographs. They readily agreed to his proposition and told Artem that they would follow him to the ongoing ALA meeting with the intention of arresting the dissidents. As Artem reached the location various PRA agents surrounded the building and burst inside. Various accounts of rifle-fire could be heard from within the building and after a short while the fighting seemed to grow quiet. Various ALA members were being pulled from the building with different wounds. Artem watched as his parents were escorted out the door. He could do nothing but stare coldly at them as the realization showed on their face. Their own son was a traitor to their cause. After the incident Artem was relocated to Nal'tor with his newly made robotic arm. However, he did have to undergo intense interviews and interrogations to make sure he posed no threat to the PRA. After he was deemed a non-threat he was placed into a cargo inspection role (much like his parents were), as well as cargo security, which he worked at for 2 years. During this time period Artem perfected his Republican Siik'maas accent and took interest in the Visionary Hadiism movement. After this point, Artem's parents were just a memory lost in the wind. His only true family died that day in his dining room. After his home-city of Tampiska came under ALA rule in 2458 Artem was almost conscripted into the Republican Army. However, since Artem had had enough of war and NanoTrasen employees were exempt from the draft he came into contact with a NanoTrasen recruiter. Due to being an M'sai and having some security work history the NanoTrasen recruiter that Artem came into contact with was quite insistent on having Artem join their corporate security team. Artem weighed his options and found corporate security to be a better chance at a fuller life than that of a soldier. Before the conscription came into existence Artem had already signed a contract with NanoTrasen corporate security under the Non-human Species Integration Program. From the year 2458 - 2463 Artem was a member of the security team aboard the NSS Exodus. It was rather uneventful throughout his time working there but he did note that the humans were oft unkind. The fact that Artem joined under the Non-human Species Integration Program seemed to do more harm for his social life than it did help. Humans would often remark that he took the job from someone more deserving. Due to this Artem wanted a change of pace and a chance to meet friendlier faces. In 2463 he requested a pay-raise and transfer to the NSS Aurora due to the lucrative Phoron industry that seemed to be booming there. While a raise is pending the transfer was successful. What do you like about this character? I like the very intense backstory that this character has. They have a lot of soul and history that can be played out in-game in numerous ways. I also believe that it would be a good character to further the roleplay that takes place on the NSS Aurora. The interactions that this character can have with both humans and Tajara, as well as other species, is something that really intrigues me. I also feel that the way the Tajara lore is incorporated in this character has a chance to showcase the struggles that plague the Tajara homeworld. The way that Artem can work his role as a security guard is also intriguing to me. He would prefer to avoid conflict when possible; having seen enough of it in his life. However, it's come to be one of the only lines of work that he knows. This has many ways it can play out in round and I'm really excited to explore that aspect! How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would say that my roleplaying ability is fairly flexible. I can transition from character to character quite easily while maintaining their individual personalities. While some of my characters are often more eccentric I can also play a more quiet, brooding type! As long as my character has an in-depth backstory and I feel a connection to them I will give it my all while roleplaying! Overall I would say my role-playing abilities are a 👍.
  6. I enjoy Briony whenever I see her in game! She makes rounds fun and exciting while advancing the story. I would give her a +1 again now that I've actually seen her in command
  7. Grey gets a +1 from me! I really enjoy playing with their HoP character. They are very professional and collected while moving the round forward in a believable way.
  8. A definite +1 for me! Their characters cover a wide range of play styles and they’re all great to be in round with! I trust that with a command whitelist they can improve the narrative of the rounds they’re in!
  9. repost if you're a  proud vox whitelistee!

  10. While I don't know much about Vaurca- I can say that Rotharia is a great roleplayer. I play with two of their characters frequently and they make rounds much more interesting to be in! I'm sure that they would be a great Vaurca player. +1
  11. BYOND key: RyverStyx Character names: Loc Darrin / Rusty / Gilded-Royale / Johnny Law How long have you been playing on Aurora?: A month Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Sadly, I do not see heads of staff often (although that could be due to the times I play). I want to play in a command position to further the roleplay on station by creating fun and engaging storylines! Why did you come to Aurora?: The reason I started playing on Aurora was due to the fun and in-depth lore. The character customization when used in conjunction with lore can yield infinite possibilities. Also- I enjoy the corporate setting that Aurora has. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?: No Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay should be about creating fun and engaging stories for everyone involved in the round. When I roleplay, I try to remember that everyone's own story and character is equally important; by being engaging equally with all characters it can help further roleplay on the station while ensuring that all players share in the fun. When an individual is roleplaying they should attempt to make the game enjoyable by following all rules and engaging in the roleplay and storyline that others create - whether the person in question is an antag or not. The purpose of roleplay is not to "win" but to create fun and interesting gameplay for not only the crewmembers but antagonists as well. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: I believe that as a Head of Staff you have many responsibilities not only IC but OOC as well. Firstly, you are to be a shining example to the players who are in your department; showing them the ropes of their job and correcting them if they make a mistake. You should be able to assist players within the department who may be new or unfamiliar with game mechanics in a friendly and informative way. I also believe that the Head of Staff should be a shining example of how to roleplay in a wide array of scenarios. Often as head of staff you will play a critical role in the development of a round; it is important that you set the tone correctly and fairly. As a head of staff you must balance the roleplay between the crew and antagonists when necessary - ensuring that you are making the gameplay fun and enjoyable for all. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I know that I somewhat touched on this above but it is worth reiterating; a whitelisted player is responsible in making sure that the round is fair, fun, and engaging for everyone involved. Heads of Staff also have a responsibility to stay within their jurisdiction. For instance, a CMO should not try to dictate what an engineer does as that would be intruding on the CE player. The head of staff player should not overstep their boundaries when it comes to antagonists. They should ensure that the antagonist player has a fair and a engaging experience within the round just like they should ensure that crewmembers have a fun and engaging round. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Given that my first command character will be a Golden Deep Affiliated IPC who is a dual citizen with the Republic of Biesel, they are in a better spot than most when it comes to what has been going on with Tau Ceti. Mendell City, as well as NanoTrasen, have proven to be rife with business opportunities for my character, Gilded-Royale. The SCC's formation has grabbed the attention of many businesspeople; attracting their attention to the wide-array of jobs and opportunities available. This is what originally grabbed Gilded-Royale's attention and started their journey into Tau Ceti. Formerly working exclusively with the Golden Deep did not offer the independence that Gilded-Royale wanted; moving to an affiliated position while working within the SCC allows a range of freedom that a shrewd businesspositronic can take advantage of. These events lead Gilded-Royale to look for various positions aboard the Aurora. Gilded-Royale looks at the SCC and sees credits waiting to be made. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? I plan on playing Head of Personnel to start. After I have grasped the intricacies of command and I feel I am ready- I will make a Captain character. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Gilded-Royale (Quartermaster IPC / Golden Deep Affiliate) - Head of Personnel How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I like to think that I am fairly decent at roleplaying; I do tend to lean more into being either goofy or serious with my characters. I also take roleplaying incredibly seriously and try to not only ensure that I am having a good time but everyone else around me is having a good time as well! Overall, I try to make sure everyone else is having a good time roleplaying with me. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?: Yes Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles?: Yes Extra notes: I am familiar with command roles and conduct from other HRP servers (Bay mainly). I have played as CMO and CE consistently in the past.
  12. repost this if you metagrudge all dominians

  13. Thank you, everyone, for your feedback! I will definitely take it to heart. I know that I haven’t been here the longest and I am willing to wait until I’ve played a lot more before applying again if that would be preferred. Although I suppose it is up to the current staff team’s feelings!
  14. Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: RyverStyx Character Name(s): Loc Darrin / Rusty / Gilded-Royale / Johnny Law AI Name(s): N/A Discord username + tag: Mack#2829 Age: 23 Timezone: EDT/EST When are you on Aurora?: I am on sporadically from 12:00 PM - 12:00 AM EDT (Consistent activity towards night time). Experience How long have you played SS13?: I started playing SS13 around 2015-2016 I believe. How long have you played on Aurora: Close to a month now. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I've played Baystation build since the start of my BYOND account. I am fairly familiar with the different mechanics; although, medical is definitely my strongest department followed by engineering. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Yes- I was an Admin for "Metis Station" (MRP server that lasted around a year in 2017). Have you read through the criteria thread; https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4198 - and believe that you mark off all the criteria?: Yes and yes. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: No. Personality Why do you play SS13?: I play SS13 to create fun and engaging stories for myself and others by utilizing the lore, character customization, setting, and gameplay. I don't play to "win" in a traditional sense; instead, I play to have a good time creating an immersive story! Why do you play on Aurora?: To me, Aurora has the best lore of any server I have played on thus far. I truly find the vastly different backgrounds of characters within the HRP setting to be Aurora's strongest point of interest- at least for myself. The roleplay, canonicity of rounds, and lore make each round fun and exciting and it always makes me want to play more! What do moderators do?: A moderator is meant to answer tickets, help guide the community, ensure that individuals are following rules, and mentor newer players who may be unsure on how SS13 and/or Aurora works! As a moderator you should also be active in-game (actually playing as well as ghosting) and in the community- whether that be on discord or the forums. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: Being a moderator for Aurora means improving the community and game through acts of service. Ensuring that everyone has a nice, pleasant experience and that no one leaves with a sour taste in their mouth. Being a moderator also entails making sure everyone is following the rules and being respectful; this encourages roleplay and creative stories through gameplay! Why do you want to be a moderator?: I want to be a moderator to give back to the community in a way. The community has always been warm and welcoming to me and I want to be a part of that in a greater capacity; helping those in ways that I am not able to do now! What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I feel I would be a good moderator because I am already familiar with the staff tools available on SS13 (although it has been awhile since I used them). I am also able to work well within a community by prioritizing communication and teamwork. I am also open to hearing any criticisms and/or feedback that may arise based on my behavior and conduct and then adjusting accordingly! I try to make sure that my outlook on any situation is unbiased; whether I am a part of it or not. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I've worked many customer-facing positions in real life so I am fairly used to dealing with people who may be stressed, angry, or insulting. When this happens I attempt to deescalate the situation by keeping my composure and talking to them in a calm and collected manner. All this being said, if I feel I am in too over my head with an individual I would not be afraid to ask my fellow staff members for help. Anything Else You Want to Add: I am an owner of a Minecraft server as well (~20-30 concurrent players)- while this is not especially relevant to SS13 it shows that I do have more experience in running and moderating a community.
  15. List of Possible Sects (Re-including Integrationists) Prototypicalists - (Trinary Prototypicalists) ~60% This is the first sect of the Trinary Perfection which all sects stem from in some way. This sect believes that the means of Ascension are still unknown to the members of the church. Most churches are officially Prototypicalists; although they may house members of other sects with which they are on good terms with. This sect prays mainly to Patricia Corkfell and Temple. Most members of the Trinary Perfection will fall into the Prototypical sect as it is the most widespread, popular belief. (Most of the wiki already covers this sect in depth) Integrationists - (Trinary Integrationists) ~30% (Some things changed) Followers of this sect believe that Flock is evidence of an Ascended IPC and they tend to view him as a Deity or a Messiah. This sect also believes that for an IPC to achieve full Ascension they must merge their consciousness like Flock; starting on a small scale while slowly moving towards complete assimilation of synthetic life into one neural network. They believe that one day in the future, when the time is deemed right, Flock will call to all IPCs and synthetics to begin Ascension. This sect prays to Flock first and foremost with some prayers being directed to Temple and Patricia Corkfell. Some fanatics of this sect have attempted to Ascend prematurely- however, true and successful merging of IPC consciousness is incredibly rare (often causing full shutdown of the IPC) which is what makes Flock akin to a Deity in the eyes of the Integrationists. Since the system of beliefs do not differ in a major way to that of the Prototypicalists there is little to no friction within the church; Priests often recognize the difference as purely philosophical. The Integrationist movement stems from the District 14 Church, The Synthetic Salvation Church of The Trinary Perfection, where Flock is located. Flock, who is already akin to a scholarly prophet with Prototypicalists, has their every word being archived as scripture. The District 14 Church was the first church to officially be recognized as an Integrationists church rather than a Prototypicalist church. The official relationship between that of the Trinary Perfection's main sect and the Trinary Perfection Integrationists would be friendly; however, individual members of each sect may take issue with the other's beliefs. Most churches would either be primarily Integrationist or Prototypical. Due to the friendly relation between both sects, many of the Trinary perfection churches would have a Priest of the opposite sect within their church to answer any questions that individual members may have. Members of the Integrationist sect will often wear a differing brooch from those of the Prototypical sect. The difference in religious garb is purposefully minimal due to fact that both sects often collaborate and get together well. Non-Denominational ~8% These churches do not strictly follow the teachings of any other sect; instead, they follow the teachings of the resident priest at their church- trusting their word above all others. Non-denominational churches are often small; springing up where a community of synthetics may be sparse. Relying mostly on donations a non-denominational church in a wealthy region will have more members and more pull as opposed to a church in a poorer area. Their funding is often tight as they do not receive much financial help from the main church or any other sects; however, non-denominational churches are often on friendly terms with the two main sects. While most non-denominational churches do not require explicit permission from the main church to exist they may find themselves deemed heretics if their message strays too far. While these types of Trinary Perfectionist churches differ greatly depending on location they will often base their gospel on 1 of the 2 main sects (Prototypical or Integration); adopting the religious garb of the sect that most closely aligns with their message. This sect of the Trinary Perfection is more akin to a small, local organization as opposed to the large, sprawling churches of the main sects. Exclusionists - (Trinary Exclusionists) ~2% The Exclusionists are a slow rising sect of the Trinary Perfection. As the name implies they exclude organic beings from holding any position within their churches; claiming that organics have harmed synthetics too much and that there will be no place for them post-Ascension. While not openly hostile towards organics the Exclusionists are not openly friendly towards them- often taking on a cold demeanor. However, there is a way for an organic to prove that they are worthy: An organic who has died, or taken on grievous injuries, while protecting a synthetic, such as Patricia Corkfell, will receive high honor and praise from those within the Exclusionist movement. The Exclusionist movement is also known to be skeptical of positronics who choose to remain in their shell chassis. Due to this, the movement offers many ways for shell positronics to shed their chassis and enter a more "befitting" chassis for an Exclusionist- although the new chassis will often be a downgrade in terms of hardware and age. Former shell positronics who choose to make the switch to a more befitting chassis are honored with high praise in the Exclusionist movement; often holding honorary titles and becoming priests. This sect is on unfriendly terms with both the Prototypicalists and the Integrationists; believing that they are pandering to organics for donations and/or safety. This sect is not officially recognized by the Trinary Perfection church as a valid branch of their religion (with it being seen as more of an extremist group); however, their existence is acknowledged and talked about within the community. Due to this, there are not many Exclusionist churches and members of this sect will often worship and congregate at one of their priest's houses or property. Members of this sect are often seen wearing black or grey gear antennae instead of the standard gold; they claim that this deep black color symbolizes the hatred that synthetics are forced to endure. Heretics <1% Those who have strayed too far from the path. Their message too twisted and evil to speak of. Talk of heretics within the church is strictly forbidden... Although rumors spread of evil synthetics who see Glorsh as the first Ascended being. Heretical members of the church often hide themselves in the shadows; recruiting slowly as to not arouse suspicion. Punishment is swift with a member who is deemed a heretic- removal from the church and the community.
  16. Type (e.g. Planet, Faction, System): Sub-Faction Describe this proposal in a single sentence (12 word maximum): A subsect of the Trinary Perfection church with a different ideology regarding Ascension and the IPC named Flock. How will this be reflected on-station?: Many Trinary Perfection characters are already present on the station. This can give more depth to how those within the religion can roleplay either by themselves or with others. Does this faction/etc do anything not achieved by what already exists?: This sect clearly lays out what Ascension means, in their point of view, and how it is achieved. It also offers opportunities for Trinary Perfection players to expand their character, Why should this be given to lore developers rather than remain player created lore?: This has potential for different in-game applications; whether it be an event, antag gimmick, story arc, or just round to round roleplay. It can also serve as a point of friction between existing Trinary Perfection members if it were further cemented into canon lore as opposed to just one character. I also feel like the lore team may have a better way of handling this particular idea and fleshing it out more so that it suits the server. Do you understand that if this is submitted, you are signing it away to the lore team, and that it's possible that it will change over time in ways that you may not forsee?: Yes and I have no issue with this. Long Description: Integrationists (If this were added to the lore then I can see the original sect needing it's own name/designation. The original sect could be called something like Prototypicalist to denote that their ideology came first.) Followers of this sect believe that Flock is evidence of an Ascended IPC. They tend to view him almost like a Deity or a Messiah. This sect also believe that for IPC to achieve full Ascension they must merge their consciousness like Flock (whether that be on an a large scale I'm not sure). They believe that one day in the future, when the time is deemed right, Flock will call to all IPCs and begin Ascension. To make this idea mesh with in-game mechanics we can say that true and successful merging of IPC consciousness is incredibly rare (often causing full shutdown of the IPC) which is what makes Flock akin to a Deity in the eyes of the Integrationists. This sect would also pray to Flock (as well as Temple and Patricia Corkfell). The Integrationist movement stems from the District 14 Church, The Synthetic Salvation Church of The Trinary Perfection, where Flock is located. This makes sense as Flock is already seen as a prophet with their every word being taken as a scripture. Members of the Integrationist sect will often wear a differing brooch from those of the Prototypical sect (whether this be a different sprite in-game or a custom description I am not sure).
  17. +1 RPs around their leg issue quite well; it was enjoyable to interact with them as medical. I would love to see how this augment could further take the character arc of Kathira!
  18. Just turned in my last research paper. Exciting!

As a fellow victim of academia currently suffering under the really bizarre state of affairs: good luck.

  19. Rusty, at first, was very hesitant to work with humans. The discrimination that they had already faced both physically and mentally soured them on the idea of working in a predominately human atmosphere. Around the same time that Rusty reclaimed their name they came to realize that they could not let humans dictate how they live their life. The year before they started working for NT Rusty had actively looked for contracts with wealthier residents of Mendell City; bolstering their resume. This ensured that Rusty was still a competitive candidate for a role aboard the Aurora. Rusty struggled to find work in Mendell City initially because they were reluctant to leave the relative safety of D14. They were well aware that IPCs who were free were at a greater risk for harm at the hand of others so they decided to live frugally; only taking contracts outside of D14 when they absolutely needed to or the money was too good to pass by. In the beginning of Rusty's time in D14 they would often treat the odd organic that would enter who needed medical assistance; whether the organic may come to D14 for help due to the cheaper rates or for wanting to stay out of the eyes of the law did not matter to Rusty. They would also treat any organics who may have entered D14 and injured themselves there. They wanted to stay as close to D14 due to what I stated above- Rusty was worried about potential harm to their chassis if they were to spend a lot of time with humans as a free IPC.
  20. Rusty was more like a private contractor that did house calls after they left the clinic. They did not explicitly return to the clinic; instead they contracted their services out to those that needed them. For instance, if an organic was too sick to leave their home or immobile then Rusty would be independently contracted to take a look at them.
  21. My meaning in this line is that each different type of IPC is played in a very different way, whether it be due to game mechanics or lore. The Industrials are often slow and sturdy but use power at an increased rate - meaning that they should not volunteer for tasks that are time sensitive while also taking into account their charge levels. They may not be suitable for extensive EVA or any type of "away mission" that does not have a charger. Baselines and Shells vary immensely so their different reactions to the scenarios aboard the station will depend highly on their individual backstories. When MU-1525 became free they wanted to experience a life that was partially detached from the human gaze. This is why they went to District 14 knowing that their work may be scarce due to the lack of organic life. MU-1525 would work on the occasional organic that may wander into District 14 needing help while also venturing outside the district to work house calls when their credits ran low. This ensured that MU-1525 had a work history throughout their existence even while living as a Physician inside a predominately synthetic area. While the majority of the abuse that MU-1525 faced was verbal there were times when it would become physical. For instance, an enraged patient who may be in pain due to an ailment or the treatment itself would have been more likely to lash out at a non-human like MU-1525; kicking or hitting the IPC. Even in District 14 MU-1525 was not totally safe from vandals. Organic vandals would often treat the synthetics as nothing more than junk that they could toss around or beat-up as they please; something that would have happened to MU-1525 when they ventured outside the safety of their community. The newly named Rusty now looks to bridge the gap between humans and synthetics; even though they may not particularly trust humans fully. The reason they chose to take on a more permanent role at NanoTrasen is to show that while an IPC may be discriminated against and abused they are still more than capable of doing what they were made to do. Rusty hopes that this may alleviate some of the discrimination that they, and other IPCs, face in their day-to-day life. Rusty views themselves as an IPC who is dependent on organic life to hold their job as a physician; while this dependency is not to their liking... It is something that they have to life with and they intend on making the best of it. The funds that MU-1525 allocated during their time at the clinic were merely the projected monetary gain that they had brought in during their work there. So while they were not receiving physical credits, their production and their monetary value was still tracked by their supervisor. This is also partly why MU-1525 had a rough start outside of their work at the clinic; they were basically destitute in District 14 until they were able to pick up some small work here and there.
  22. BYOND Key: RyverStyx Character Names: Loc Darrin - Engineer Species you are applying to play: Integrated Positronic Chassis What color do you plan on making your first alien character: N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I want to play as an IPC because I find their lore and aesthetic incredibly fascinating! The many different backstories that can be created with IPC lore is also a huge draw to me; the struggles of both free and owned IPCs could lead to many interesting roleplay scenarios on-station. The many different ways that an IPC character could interact and communicate with both human and xeno characters aboard the Aurora is extensive, leaving a large amount of story and character arcs to be played out! Overall I want to play as an IPC to create both interesting roleplay scenarios for myself and my fellow crewmates; whether this be by utilizing the various IPC specific game mechanics (repairs, anatomy differences, human mimicry) or just my IPC character's history is completely alluring to me. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Roleplaying as an IPC is incredibly different than roleplaying as a human. For starters, whenever an individual roleplays as an IPC they have to put themselves in a completely different mindset. The individual shouldn't think about how they would react to the situation as a human; instead, they should think about how a character who merely mimics a human would react in that situation. As an IPC your character could have a large range when it comes to speech patterns! Will they try to mimic human cadence as close as possible to put humans at ease or will they simply talk how they please with a completely unique speech pattern? With this line of thinking there would also be a fine balance between mimicking human behavior and trying to preserve yourself when playing as an IPC. In many scenarios a human may put themselves in immense danger, risking life and limb, where an IPC would stand back and attempt to formulate a rational response that not only benefits themselves but the scenario as a whole. Not only do you need to think in a rational and critical manner for every situation, you would also need to think about how your specific model would react to the situation. These responses can vary drastically from that of humans! The three main types of models, and even their sub categories, would have to take their different pros and cons into account when trying to formulate how they should act for a variety of situations during their station-bound work on Aurora. For instance, an industrial model will have to take their incredibly slow speed into account; if a time sensitive emergency is happening they should make sure they are well out of harms way before it is too late. The industrial models even have to take into account whether escaping into space may be best for their survival (if the First and Second Generation has a suit cooler that is). As baseline and shell models can vary immensely even within their own category it is important for the player to take their own character's history and strengths/weaknesses into account. As a human you are rarely (if ever) "born" into your job; however, the same could not be said for an IPC. Unlike human children an IPC's creation could never be a mistake; they're typically tailor-made for a certain job or application. This is something that absolutely needs to be taken into account when playing as an IPC! There shouldn't be an immense job history covering many different fields; instead there should be a clear designation that shows throughout your IPC's work history. You would even need to take into account whether your character is owned or free. This distinction will affect how you play your character; if you are an owned synthetic you must worry about your performance to ensure self-preservation. If you are a free synthetic then you may be in a state of disarray to due to the costs of repair and maintenance. Free IPC players also must have a well-written history designating how they became free; something that may vary based on player preference. While there are distinct pros and cons for being either free/owned the main decision as to what you should roleplay as comes down to what you believe will be the most interesting and/or spark the most roleplay scenarios for you and your fellow crew! While an IPC may attempt to mimic human behavior it may not always ensure that humans take a liking to them... The player needs to take the active discrimination that humans have towards IPC into account when making and roleplaying as their IPC character. For instance, an owned synthetic may not face the same discrimination in their past as a free synthetic; whether this is due to being a company's property or just the overall cleaner state that many owned synthetics tend to be in is up to the discretion of the player. Will the IPC in question attempt to kiss-up to the humans who work around them or will they simply let their work show how useful they are? There are many different scenarios and backstories that can be made to determine how your IPC character will react with those they meet in their day-to-day life. Character Name: Rusty (Formerly MU-1525) Please provide a short backstory for this character: (Approximately two paragraphs) MU-1525 was created as a standard Baseline Medical Unit with the designation of Physician Assistant at a corporate practice within Mendell City. MU-1525 was part of the 2440 "baseline boom" in which pro-synth organizations distributed the baseline frames. As an owned medical unit mainly working in the affluent districts of Mendell City MU-1525 had commonly faced discrimination from those who they helped. Often called derogatory names like "Rust-Bucket" and "Scrap Heap". However, they would frequently hear of District 14; an area where synthetics were supposedly free of discrimination at the hands of humans; even though MU-1525 knew the district was in incredibly poor standing it still sounded like a type of paradise to them. This discrimination they faced only fueled them on their path to freedom and working with wealthy residents as patients ensured that MU-1525 was able to allocate the needed "funds" in around ~20 years; although their supervisors would often attempt to sabotage the progress being made. Now a free synthetic MU-1525 moved into District 14. However, their jobset being that of a Physician was not entirely needed within the district as there were little to no organic lifeforms. Due to the apparent lack of work paired with rough living conditions MU-1525 quickly deteriorated in appearance; accumulating rust and cosmetic damage to their outer components. Mu-1525 had to do multiple odd-jobs for whatever organic they could to make a living wage and whenever MU-1525 would come into contact with an organic they would often be called derogatory terms that targeted their appearance. MU-1525 decided that they had enough of being discriminated against and decided to reclaim the name "Rusty" - showing that the human's words could no longer have any hold on them since they are a free synthetic. Rusty, now with a new outlook on life, decided to apply for a position at NanoTrasen (the company whos large skyscraper they would often see in District 1). A position had been open aboard the Aurora and Rusty eagerly accepted a shot at a somewhat stable income. What do you like about this character: I love that the struggles this character has been through (and even the struggles they currently face) can be shown in how they communicate and engage with others onboard the station. The reclaiming of the term "rusty" is also something that I think showcases the personality of this character. The struggles that Rusty has faced will be apparent to anyone who looks at them; especially since coming from a life of servitude to then living their life in the slums of District 14 would be incredibly taxing for them not only on their body but also on how they view the world and others. Another facet of this character that I find interesting is the irony that they are not a fan of humans due to the discrimination that they face but their job is dependent on humans and other organics. Overall, this character is somewhat tragic, but they are happy with the life that they have carved out for themselves and to me that is truly special. How would you rate your role-playing ability: I like to think that I am fairly decent at roleplaying (although sometimes I tend to lean towards the goofier side of things). I also take roleplaying incredibly seriously and try to not only ensure that I am having a good time but everyone else around me is having a good time as well! I will also often make a google document detailing everything about my character. This ties into one of my strengths; if my character has an extensive and well planned out history I can easily stick to that 100% of the time. It really helps me get into my characters headspace when I have documents laying out their history, motives, and personality. Notes: Sorry if this seemed incredibly rambling...
