Chief Engineer

Chief Engineer (23/37)

  1. Honestly, in an emergency situation, I primarily care about their qualifications. The SCC can complain all they like about my appointment of a Plutonian to chief engineer, but when half the ship is vented and the rest of engineering is either drunk or vaurca, then I'm doing it anyway. I prefer not to die, thank you. And I'm sure the SCC would complain more about the loss of their valuable ship. That said, I agree with at least putting this into a central place. Say, the command forum that all command players have access to?
  2. Kermit has shown an excellent hand for leadership in the past. There is nothing but praise for the Crescent Expanse arc for a very good reason. When it comes to leading a new team, hiring deputies, outlining responsibilities and lanes, and working with other teams, there are very few people in the position I could see as being better than Kermit. As a bonus, they have directly hosted events relating to minor megacorp things during their tenure as deputy lore master, such as conventions. They have already shown they can integrate the megacorporate feel into the server. +1
  3. Fully with @KingOfThePing and @FabianK3. As noted by @CatsinHD the issues with the FTC are being resolved differently. As such, I am voting to dismiss this suggestion.
  4. Hello there! Thank you for the application! I have a few things to pose to you: I'm a bit concerned with your answer to how they roleplay differently. You focus exclusively on their different way of speaking. But this could conceivably be done with a human with a heavy accent, or a different non-english language that has a different pronouns system. I'd like to see a bit more detail on what makes a tajara, a tajara. You focus a lot on the instability of the PRA. Exactly where were you born on Adhomai? I don't see much on your character's personal life, such as your religious beliefs. How does your character feel on the gods? You seem to gloss over a lot of the issues the S’rand’marr Coalition had, such as the severe morale issues off-world troops experienced. How does your character feel about the NKA? And the DPRA? Being your character is now in the KOG, you'll inevitably be interacting with people from these areas. How would that go? How did you find your way to the KOG from the police work you did?
  5. We are aware that the in-hands aren't matching with the new sprites. This will be resolved in time. However, "do[es] not fit the aurora vibe at all" and "I don't like them" isn't valid feedback. Being many of these sprites replaced were years old, and made by numerous different people, there is no clear style to many of them. Similar feedback was given for the 3/4ths sprite replacements, and it was dismissed for similar reasons. In addition, we have a standing policy to not perform reverts until a month after the PR has been merged. I would like you to elaborate on what, exactly, you do not like about them. Suggestions on modifications to sprites are perfectly welcome, and would not run afoul of that.
  6. I'm personally against picking a sidearm. At best I would accept per-contractor sidearms, but picking and choosing defeats the intent of the uniform requirements, and brings us further away from a tight corporate setting, which has already been diluted enough for the Horizon.
  7. With two dismissals, and having been open for (more than) a week, this suggestion is being dismissed. Locking and archiving.
  8. Please note we have methods to restrict these to one per antag without a high point requirement.
  9. I originally agreed with this, coming from Baystation which had success with removing succumb. However, seeing the comments here has made me reconsider my position. I'd rather fix it than to remove it given the legitimate feedback on finishing stories. We can maybe rework it if it's too much of an issue. But I, too, vote for dismissal on this suggestion for the aforementioned reason.
  10. The more I think about this, the more I oppose this. I'd rather disruptors get buffed than security having rubbers as a first-line (or worse, a stun gun in addition to ballistics). I'm withholding judgement until the test merge period is complete, as I could be wrong. But the idea of giving another starting gun to security is not something I'm willing to do at all.
  11. Might be better for a traits or quirks system. Instead of using the loadout tbh.
  12. Hi there, just a few questions: You mention the NKA liberating your village from the ALA. What's your character's opinion on their domestic policies, however? Such as their desire to enforce caste structure? What about the PRA? What are your characters feelings and relations towards the Gods? You mentioned being a petty noble, and most nobility take a lot of importance in S'rendmarr and/or the Ma'ta'ke religions. You don't really mention your opinion towards other factions outside of Adhomai. What are your character's feelings on the factions the NKA has ties to, such as Idris and Dominia? On the topic of the NKA, you mentioned being of mixed heritage. How public are you about your mother being a commoner?
  13. The intention is that scientists are a ship-bound role, intended to handle research aboard the ship. Expeditions are the job of Xenoarchaelogists, Xenobotanists, and Xenobiologists. If standard procedure should change, the proper process is to go through the XO or RD to change access first, not unilaterally have scientists decide to change it themselves.
  14. Ckey/BYOND Username: generalcamo Discord Name: generalcamo Position Being Applied For: Coder Past Experiences/Knowledge: Hobbyist C++ Coder (~5 years), hobby project management, open source development experience. I have some experience with BYOND development. I now have SQL and C# experience. Examples of past work: A rework of our web authentication system (to fix critical issues) during the great DDOS: https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/20769 Emissives: https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/18895 Fuel/Auxiliary piping: https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/16141 An ongoing fabrication project: https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/21668 Modernization of our wounds system: https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/20757 Additional comments: Was previously denied for various reasons, see prior thread: I like to think, since then, I got a real reality check (due to a discord suspension this year), as well as having improved my attitude towards projects in general. I am still dedicated to ensuring the server has the best experience possible, with a key emphasis on the new player experience (this is a huge focus for me, 100%). Though I am now a lore deputy writer, I still wish to contribute to the success of the server in other ways. I plan to at the very least, continue with my fabrication project, regardless of the status of this app. This would just help me coordinate internally better.
  15. National Assembly reaches Compromise on Power Infrastructure Renewal After a week and a half of intense debate, the National Assembly has agreed to implement a compromise plan to renovate the nation’s power infrastructure. At the insistence of the Adhomian Blue Party, several new power plants using biofuels as well as other non-fossil fuels will be explored and built, with any expansion requiring a usage of at least 50% of renewable biofuels. Ex-interim President Brajrr Alnadruskiy has also compromised with his party, removing the provision of extranet expansion, but at least agreeing to ensure all libraries, schools, and universities have extranet installed. At the insistence of both the Blue and People’s Party, expansion of the power grid into Southern Harr'simir has been indefinitely tabled, to be explored at a later date. Rrhaza-Akhran Muharajuurl Muhr'Fal expressed his disapproval at the last minute compromise, stating his disappointment that the people of Southern Harr’simir ignore the positive developments of universal electrification, while emphasizing the negatives. He has stated he will nevertheless respect the bill, “excepting infrastructure required to maintain our defensive posture against the Royalists and… others seeking to disrupt our revolution." At the final vote, only the Followers of Nated voted against the proposal, with Maksym Razin giving an angered speech to the Assembly, until he was ordered to regain decorum by President Harrlala for failing to request the floor. Commander Kahan Hro'rammhad has ordered the Liberation Army’s generators be used to supplement power generation while the project is being placed underway. Additionally, he has ordered the Liberation Army's engineers to assist civilian workers with the expansion. Rrhaza-Akhran Ahem Kah’nrir initially announced he would not allow any civilian workers into the Northern Ras’nrr territory to renovate power infrastructure, until Supreme Commander Nated personally ordered a Liberation Army division to directly escort and protect civilian workers in the Junta. Ahem Kah’nrir then sent an apology, blaming the previous message on a “communication malfunction."
