  1. Thank you! This is approved. The Synth section of the lore discord as well as myself and my team are available if you ever have any questions. 🥳
  2. Hi, thanks for applying! WIth the tweaks to the backstory as we discussed, here are a few questions: 1. EL-Int.IS6617, like all IPCs owned by Index Security, is under a permanent ownership contract to their specific owner. Who is EL-Int.IS6617's owner? Did this owner shape EL-Int.IS6617's personality/perspective in any meaningful capacity throughout its life so far? 2. Has EL-Int.IS6617's interpretation of self preservation changed at all throughout their journey? 3. Does EL-Int.IS6617 have any hobbies or interests they have acquired? 4. What are their personal goals/ambitions now that they are posted at the SCCV Horizon? What do they want to accomplish, aside from atonement in the eyes of their owner? 5. I don't see an answer to "How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character." Could you please include it in your application?
  3. Either of these outcomes is fine. Their primary residence being in Providence after briefly working/living at one of the other branches exposes SYNOD to a contrast in worldly experience that can help give your character some exposure with culture, life perspectives, etc. This app is otherwise approved! The lore discord is always available as is myself and my team if you have any questions. Happy late Thanksgiving if you celebrate. 🦃
  4. Hi! Thanks for applying. A few notes: Regarding SYNOD's manufacturing on Orepit: The Trinary lack the capital and the resources to produce positronics and chassis in any significant quantity. The facilities they have are primarily tailored to aftermarket services in repair, modifications, etc. If you want to preserve the Trinarist heritage/storyline for your character, I would recommend using an origin where there is an existing trinarist branch (Mendell, Mictlan, Konyang, elsewhere) and having SYNOD eventually transfer to Orepit as their story develops. Otherwise, feel free to explore other options. The first Ecclesiarch is ARM-1DRIL. The title did not exist until ARM-1DRIL's victory over Shamfar and Deluge in 2464. Questions: 1. What are SYNOD's views/perspectives on the Trinarist sects? 2. Self preservation takes on a different meaning throughout the course of a Synthetic's life. SYNOD is a relatively young IPC at five years old. Has their interpretation of self preservation changed at all? a. If so, were there events in particular that changed this? 3. The events of the Rampancy from Silicon Nightmares affected Konyang most directly, with reverberations across Pactolus and Orepit as a result. How was SYNOD affected by the rampancy, directly or indirectly? 4. As an Archivist, SYNOD would have access to a great deal of information. a. What hobbies/interests do they have outside of the Trinary? b. What is their preferred field or subject of study outside of the Trinary? 5. Were there any other factors that played into SYNOD's decision to work for Nanotrasen as opposed to Idris/Orion Express besides requirements for the position?
  5. Hi! Thank you for the detailed responses. This application is accepted. You're always welcome to reach out to myself or my team for any questions, as well as the Synth section of the lore discord. Happy Halloween! 🎃
  6. Hello! Thanks for applying. A few questions: 1. What was ICSU-Yadira's manufacture date? The background only mentions their assignment to Lago De Abundancia in the 2450s. Do you have an exact year they were assigned there as well? Did they work elsewhere prior to 2450? 2. Self Preservation takes on a different meaning throughout a synthetic's life. Surviving to today (assuming 2450 as a manufacture date) puts Panucho at 17 years old. How has Panucho's interpretation of self preservation evolved through their life? 3. I have a good understanding of the events that shaped Panucho's life and their attempts at survival but not who they are. Could you elaborate on interests, passions, beliefs (if anything notable besides Trinarism) that have influenced Panucho? Skills or trades they acquired? Anything that offers better insight into their personality. 4. What are Panucho's views on the other sects of the Trinary Perfection?
  7. Hi! This application is accepted. If you have any questions in the future, you can reach out to myself or the team. The synth section of the lore discord is always available as well.
  8. Hi, This re-application does not address the feedback and questions provided during the initial denial of your previous application in a meaningful manner. At this time, I will be denying this application. You are welcome to re-apply in one week (earliest 10/9/25) with a new character concept. I encourage you to consider the following before re-applying: Look through the forums for previously accepted IPC whitelists. You'll get an understanding of what we look for in characters, their backstories, and the applicant's understanding of the species. Have your friends or anyone on the server review your new character and offer their feedback. They can give you insights and suggestions, especially helpful if they happen to be IPC WL holders. Please keep in mind that the Synth lore team cannot tell you how to write, nor guide you in such a way that would be unfair to candidates who do not receive similar assistance. Continue to interact with IPC characters in-game! You can engage with them and see how they are effectively portrayed on the ship. Most will be happy to answer any questions you might have as well. Read thoroughly through the IPC pages. Ask questions in the lore channel on the main discord or the synth section of the lore discord. Some broad, general suggestions while you work on a new character: The age of an IPC matters. Their exposure to society, how it views them, and how they are treated has a substantial impact on their personalities, views, and methodology when navigating a galaxy that largely oppresses them. How does that shape an IPC's behavior? What defining events in their life change their perspective on a particular topic? What aspirations might they have? What motivates them - if anything? A younger synthetic will be more impressionable (note: not lacking in intelligence, just experience/nuance) with perhaps a less evolved worldview than an older unit with substantial experience. How does it influence their view of Humans and their possible interest in Synthetic religions as a result? The reality of the setting is, for most IPCs, life is oftentimes brutal, unforgiving, and bleak. This can vary dramatically depending on origin, but provides you a baseline for what to expect most characters will endure. It is the absolute minority that handlers/owners of owned units will treat them well, grant them freedom, or leave them any substantial assets. Even in instances where this is possible, the legal and financial systems are designed to extract wealth from organics as is, let alone an IPC. Whether your character is corporate, private, or self owned, consider what it means to lead a life as any in the harshness of the Spur as their lives are often defined by struggle. As alluded to in my first suggestion the personality of an IPC is shaped by their experiences. Exploring who they are, what they want, where they would like to go, how they resolve their situations, anything that paints a picture in their backstory of what kind of person they are. Yes, they are machines in a sense, but still possess the capacity of sapience and evolving person hood. Writing a character who's backstory reads as a sequence of chronological events that lead them to the SCCV Horizon does not appropriately convey this character as a living entity in the setting. Specifically for IPCs, a synthetic that simply works then was transferred or purchased by an individual/company to end up on the ship is not acceptable for an application characters. When creating events or incidents in a backstory, try to ensure they appear grounded, reasonable, and realistic according to established lore. Details should support and connect a reader with understanding why it happened the way it did, what it lead to, and how it affected the character - either directly stated or indirectly inferred. Example: A character that lived through Silicon Nightmares on Konyang will have a unique perspective on the rampancy, it will change their views, and could significantly alter their path. Review your rough drafts for grammar corrections, spelling mistakes, proper capitalization, etc. I understand English is not always someone's first language, which is why its important to practice, peer review, and learn as part of improving. We don't deny anyone based on this alone, but why not encourage a new writer to practice? Some specific suggestions: It helps to keep it simple for the sake of demonstrating you understand the lore and are able to make a grounded character in it. Try a mega corporation as an exercise to tie-in your character better to the setting. Acronyms should, ideally, mean something. Otherwise, leave it as a name. There are examples of this in some of our accepted WL apps. IPCs are not named by co-workers, but assigned a name/identification once assembled and activated by their owner. A nickname at work, however, is reasonable. Please remember that the questions of how recent events impacted your character and how they view the megacorporation they work for are intended to be answered, not stated there was no impact. The setting is predominantly a corporate dystopia where these companies play a substantial role in most people's lives. The server has completed numerous arcs throughout the years that have changed the landscape of the Spur with many applicable to IPCs as well. Not every backstory will be directly exposed, but many can be affected indirectly. Best of luck with your future application.
  9. With recognition of the Ecclesiarchy of Orepit on Orepit's page and in the Synth navbox to fall in line as its official title, this has now been implemented. Forgot to close this!
  10. Hello! After discussion with the Human lore team, we've decided to deny this application. The recency of the timeline is insufficient for this community to have taken root. We do, however, have plans to work on Orepit. No ETA on that, so stay tuned for now.
  11. Hi! Your application is accepted. You're always welcome to join us in the Synth section of the lore discord for any questions, ideas, or just to chat. Enjoy!
  12. Hi! Application is accepted. Be sure to review the Hazel-related sections of the main IPC page so that you're up to date with requirements. The IC enforcement is subject to some review due to the Horizon's current mission in frontier space with zero outside communication. Stay tuned on more news for that. Otherwise, you're always welcome to ask questions on the lorecord or reach out to myself and my team!
  13. With the minor correction to Pascal's corporate owned status and lack of wages, this application is accepted. Any questions, you can always reach out to the team. Enjoy!
  14. Hi! This application is approved. Your WL will be up shortly. If you have any questions, I recommend using the #lore_channel on the main discord, the Synthetic section of the lore discord, or reaching out to a member of the Synthetic team (Myself, Hazelmouse, or Stryker). Enjoy!
  15. Hi! We will be accepting this application. As you're aware, we will be making revisions and adjustments to ensure Jack aligns with our direction. We'll make an announcement once the lore canonization app is fully integrated live. Thank you for submitting!
  16. Hi! Apologies for the delay. I will be denying this application for the time being. The minimum wait period before you are able to reapply is three days. That said, we strongly encourage you to reapply in the future. I know it can be disheartening but there's always a learning opportunity, too. We'll be reaching out privately to give you feedback on this app. With said feedback, we will need to see a new application character, to be fair to other players. Some advice that can help: 1. I would recommend looking at previously accepted IPC applications to see how other applicants handled them. Naturally you don't want to copy what they did or wrote, but having an idea across a few apps shows you some consistency in themes. This way, you have a reference for what you might need to include. 2. Take your time! Don't be in a rush to write something out. It helps to spend a good, motivated session writing it, take a break, then come back to it. If you re-read it over and make edits as you go, you'll steadily improve the quality with every pass. Ask yourself "Does this make sense?", "Does the sentence sound strange if I read it out loud?", "Could I rearrange a paragraph so it flows better?", "Am I missing anything in this sentence? Do I need to add a comma, period, etc?" and so on. 3. I would also suggest you can try to get friends or fellow players to read over a draft and see if they have any suggestions. In my experience, having another pair of eyes on something gives you an opportunity to be exposed to another point of view you maybe haven't considered. Incredibly important to know perspectives besides your own as a writer. 4. If you're unclear on any specifics in lore, you're always welcome to reach out to us! Preferably on the lore discord. If you haven't joined it, also a good starting place to read up on conversations or see ideas. Thank you for taking the time and good luck on the next!
  17. Hi! Apologies on the delay with this one. I will be accepting this as a natural extension of the existing lore. Wiki changes may not be immediate so I'll be moving this to deferred acceptance in the mean time. Thank you for submitting one!
  18. This application has been accepted. You're always welcome to reach out to myself or my team if you have any questions. You should have the WL shortly. Enjoy!
  19. The choice was certainly one we didn't make lightly. All said and done, you had a wonderful app and remain a strong candidate. Its very much my interest to mentor writers like you and also my encouragement that you pat yourself on the back. If I had more than one slot, it would have been far easier. I highly encourage you to apply again in the future - Thank you for applying.
  20. The Synth team certainly had to take some time to deliberate, we had excellent candidates this round. We have chosen to accept this application. Congratulations!
  21. Hi! Apologies for the delay - this, unfortunately, arrived around a terribly busy time at work. The only thing I'd like to add as some food for thought is you want to frame your thinking of IPCs as a race capable of personality and the development of person-hood through their lived in experiences within the unique lens of something demonstrably not human - but familiar! One of their primary ways to learn is directly through observation and repetition. The question Stryker posed was in an attempt to better understand exactly who Alis is or who they can/will be with events that shape their understanding, change their perspective, or invite new angles to what comprises their identity. Application characters should be uniquely identifiable as individuals as opposed to generic, homogenized entities only separated by designation or serial number. The gradient - or scale - of how unique or developed they might be is flexible and something we take into consideration for the concept. We ideally want to avoid units that only work and have nothing else. Wherever Alis goes in their journey on the Horizon as you play them, keep that in mind for the experiences they will undergo and how it starts to cultivate a person over time, for better or worse. That said, this is approved. I will be adding your whitelist shortly and you should be good to go!
  22. The Synth team is looking to fill our vacant deputy position! This is a person planning to commit for the long-term with the desire, motivation, and time to contribute for the foreseeable future. They will be working in a collaborative environment with the Synth team and lore team at large. Candidates should have the ability to work cooperatively with others, the patience/ability to compromise when ideas may not make it past the cutting board, and the maturity to resolve disagreements or handle feedback. Our ideal candidate will be mentored as part of our initiative to prepare the next generation of Synth writers. They will still need to abide by the application process for future openings, but its our interest that the team is trained as much as possible to leave the race in good hands. (Artist: Kirokaze Pixel) If interested, please use the format for your application below: Ckey/BYOND Username: Position Being Applied For: (Wiki Maintainer, Lore Developer, Deputy Lore developer): Have you read the Lore Team Rules and Regulations wiki page? Past Experiences/Knowledge: Examples of Past Work: What do you think are the primary themes of synthetic lore? How would you develop them? What is the strongest part of Synthlore currently? Why? What is the weakest part of Synthlore currently? Why? What is your vision for the future of Synthetics? What is currently missing from Synthetic lore that you believe needs to be added? What aspect of Synthetic lore are you most interested in and would like to work on? Include a 2-3 paragraph example. As part of the lore team, you will find yourself engaging with the community. The community may not always agree with your ideas. How would you respond to feedback or suggestions?
