  1. What is an Appeal? Appeals are to contest outcomes and actions taken against an employee after an Incident Report's investigation has concluded. How does the Appeal process work? Once an appeal is submitted, a CCIA agent that was not assigned to the original Incident Report is assigned. The assigned agent will review the previous agent's investigation, alongside any additional information gathered. Whether the appeal is for a case review or clemency(detailed in guidelines), the assigned agent will determine if the appeal has merit. The appealing party or others involved in the incident report may be contacted for an interview. In either scenario, the appealing party will be notified of the assigned agent's outcome after review. Appeal Guidelines Both the general forum rules and the Incident Report subforum rules also apply to this subforum. Only post if you are personally appealing a CCIA action applied to your character. These threads are in-character, confidential correspondences between the affected character and the CCIA Appeals Processing office. Disclosing the contents of these threads to other characters may result in IC penalties against the disclosing character. You may appeal for a case review, or for clemency. In the first case, the IR procedure followed by the agent is reviewed to determine if the correct approach was taken, and if the actions taken are appropriate. In the second case, you admit your character was in the wrong, and appeal to get a penalty reduced. If neither satisfy you, you should make an OOC staff complaint. Do not appeal minor CCIA actions. This includes both formal and informal reprimands, and other actions with a duration of one week or less. CCIA appeals are intended for long-term actions that place severe restrictions on a character's behavior. Remember that unlike a ban, in most cases, a CCIA action does not prevent you from playing your character in a round. Do not post appeals for Incident Reports that have not yet been closed. All appeal rulings are final when they are declared. Contract Terminations may not be appealed. If you believe your termination was unfair or invalid, please make a OOC staff complaint. 2. Ground Zero Probes Missing: Anomalies at Work? Ground Zero Research Zone, Pactolus The Pactolus Exploration Commission reports several initial probes sent to capture preliminary data of the craters have gone missing. Each drone was outfitted with the necessary instruments to capture crucial analytics for the League and its explorers prior to any deployments. Of the clusters sent to the largest crater, only one returned intact to Numen, showing significant signs of damage. Technicians report the returning probe data was largely corrupted, incomprehensible to decipher beyond incomplete recordings salvaged from their memory banks. Explorer teams attended a briefing to parse through the intact files, of which a short clip was provided to BitByte correspondents for viewing. The first few seconds of the video glitch, an array of color and jagged lines consuming the screen. The initial audio is a deep, distorted buzzing, growing in volume into the video abruptly begins in what appears to be pure darkness, presumably in the depths of the crater. The sight of alien flora forms along the crevices barely captured by the drone's external lights. The hum of the probe’s ambient power fills the silence, its light unable to reach more than a few feet in front of it, despite shifting through various outputs. It appears to be descending, switching views between its cameras to capture its surroundings. It continues down for several minutes, the light catching visual interference and the rare falling rock in the impossibly deep pit. A ping echoes, considerable time passing before it manages to reach the other side of the crater several miles away. An audio distortion begins, the origin of the sounds unclear. Several overlapping channels seem to muddle together, producing a cacophony of interference that continues to grow louder. The sound of metal groaning under pressure follows. Without warning, Its battery quickly begins to drain, plummeting from 80% to 40% in a matter of seconds. A distant echo as if something loudly crashing courses across the probe before it starts to violently rattle. The drone makes a sharp 180 while alarms blare, visual feed breaking down as it shifts power to its thrust, engine humming. Distant tremors continue to quake from deeper within the crater as its systems report significant damage, flashing across the screen. The sounds of metal cracking and groaning, the audio reduced into a sharp, reverberating hiss. The geiger counter clicks repeatedly, the radioactivity measured growing exponentially until all goes silent. [End of Video.] While geologists have identified the rumbles as consistent with Pactolus’ seismic activity, much remains unknown as to the true depth of the crater in question, or what precisely caused the disappearance of the probe clusters. As for the drone itself, what could be recovered could only be described as entirely inexplicable. The source of what caused the extensive damage is unclear, specifically the bizarre protrusions of rusted metal from its exterior. The incomplete mapping leaves a puzzle of uncertainty for Explorers now preparing to depart as the forward base’s construction nears completion. 4. Pactolus’ City of Craters: Staging for the Unknown Ground Zero Research Zone, Pactolus Convoys of Golden Deep ships take to the skies, the latest of the preliminary transports making way to the former city of Numen. Like many colonial cities, Numen was tragically lost as the comet struck, reducing much of the planet to a smoldering, radioactive wasteland. What standing ruins survived of these cities has since been consumed with the unusual flora that decorates much of Pactolus’ surface, retaken by nature as the wounded planet healed. Engineer Philan, Eurydice’s elected Foreman of Industry, has designated the ruins of Numen as the intended forward base of operations for the Ground Zero Research Zone’s explorers, primarily for its proximity to the many craters that decorate the immediate vicinity. Anomalous properties within these craters has captured the League’s interest, hoping to uncover the origin and greater insight to the mysteries of the planet. Workers have managed to clear several miles of debris and flora, where early construction of the base has shown significant progress in the initial foundations. The appointed overseer of Ground Zero, R1vet, has advised BitByte the forward base will be fully operational in a matter of weeks, anticipated to be on schedule with their established timeline. The overseer has shared a particular interest in Numen aside from its location, with plans to revitalize the intact remnants of the city alongside its primary function for explorers. R1vet shared a brief conversation with BitByte reports, remarking ‘We hope to understand what took place on Pactolus in its eight years of silence. Numen is just the start.’ Engineers, technicians, and maintenance teams work to scour still standing buildings for repurposable material or salvage opportunities, as part of uncovering the story of those who once knew Numen as home. With progress well underway, the crater expeditionary teams have been assembled to begin preparations for their deployment across the zone. A spokesman on behalf of the Exploration League has informed BitByte that ‘The newfound life in the aftermath of the comet’s devastation is nothing short of remarkable. There is a story waiting to be unraveled here, and we are excited to tell it.’ When asked about the craters themselves, the spokesman advised that ‘Scouting probes have identified several of interest, with hopes of greater insight to the full effects of the comet on Pactolus. More to share once we have processed the data.’ Further Reading: Pop Culture: VEE-BEE rising in the charts after Glam Slam appearance! Konyang: Ushishir growing, a look at life in New Hokkaido. 6. Hi! Sorry for the delay. Please add a handler to Sable as part of their transfer to the SCCV Horizon. IRU and ISU units are beholden to their human handlers as part of their management. Once you do, this application is accepted.
  7. ((OOC Note: Already was assigned, I'm just a goober and forgot to post))
  8. Hi! Feedback is always welcome at any stage. We aren't planning to remove nanopaste or its current functionality at this time. This is something that we'll have a better picture of where it falls in the grand scheme of things as we get closer to implementing the full rework, so it was better for us not to comment on it too much for now.
  9. Hi all, Things have been pretty busy but we've kept chugging along and wanted to share some of the broad strokes of what we’re looking at for the IPC medical rework. The finer details, mechanics, and values are going to be subject to change and better addressed as we look closer to its implementation. This is going to be an early overview that you’re welcome to provide feedback on for any suggestions or changes. Goals The medical rework should accomplish the following objectives: Synthetics should be easily distinguishable from humans in terms of repair/care. Synthetics share basic mechanics universally between all frames, as a race. The individual frames have their own unique strengths and weaknesses, becoming a conscious choice besides appearance without pushing the player into too narrow a niche. Community Suggestions Anatomy Power & Cooling Systems As opposed to just the standard in game, we'd like to offer alternatives that come with their strengths/weaknesses when choosing a frame. Some might be restricted to a frame or group of frames but that isn't currently in place yet. More may be added in the future. Specific Interactions Machinist Changes
  10. Jeff has contributed one of the fondest characters I've enjoyed engaging with. They know their department top to bottom, demonstrate the ability to participate in gimmicks without hampering them, and continue to be a source of quality interaction for anyone they come across in game. I have no doubt they'll perform to whitelist standards and more. +1
  11. Hoverbeds are the proposed solution to a problem that was self-created and didn't exist prior to intentional meddling. The realism isn't there - as pointed out prior - stretchers have been able to go up and down stairs for a long time. It isn't a revolutionary concept that requires hoverbeds, of all things, to solve 400 years later. Much like any realism argument, its an arbitrary enforcement, more ridiculous since it regresses 2466 to have been unable to resolve this dilemma short of anti-gravity equipment. More-so my point though, its ultimately an unsatisfying and clunky experience that doesn't add any interesting choices for the Paramedic. It is purely an inconvenience in an already cumbersome (if not deadly) scenario. The gameplay loop doesn't need artificial hoops to jump through. There's an entire rework dedicated to a different vision already. Its a net negative.
  12. Don't feel bad at all for bringing it back! We're still accepting suggestions, feedback, and any conceptual ideas people would like to see. IPC medical mechanics have needed a serious modernization for quite some time and we'll be working to achieve that with time.
  13. A few off the top of my head: Some futuristic variant of an MRI/ultrasound/xray so that we can have pictures of a patient's internals. Helps to do fluff RP like pointing out a specific fracture or identifying their character's conditions. Doesn't have to do anything special if its too complicated. Just a generic photo print out with a description of their race and what it's showing if we want to keep it simple. EEG for the brain, ECG for the heart. Could combine them since its the 24th century into something fancier. The glucose monitor as mentioned. Some kind of proper blood panel read out. Could contain randomized information for cholesterol, hemoglobin, platelets, red blood cell count, vitamin deficiencies, etc. We currently only get what reagents are in their system with our analyzer. Instrument sterilizer would be so soul for the OR. A proper way to clean equipment besides the spray cleaner or washing at a sink. A method to take tissue samples, swab mouths, for more than just investigators. It has medical purposes too.
  14. Sorry for the delay! This is accepted.
