  1. Valin The trip from the gates to the market is quiet and calm, but by the time you're close to the market, that changes. You can here the yells of vendors trying to get attention for their wares. Its almost deafening when you get into the closed streets. Theres everything from booths butchering pigs and cows right in front of their customers, to jewelers peddling cheap gold, and locally grown harvest like fruits and vegetables. Theres a number of open stalls to choose from, one between a produce stand, and a armorer, one between two jewelers, and one at the end of a street, right next ti an opening of the mark distract, and a man at a stand, with no wares on his table. 2. Military Priests? Are they the blokes who handle the Holy Hand Grenades or something?
  3. Oh you salarian you. I am the very model of a scientist Salarian~
  4. Ive run into the phantom infection three times, two of them fatal. The last time I ran into it, we removed his arm surgically. I /THINK/ that cured it.
  5. Bosh'tet: Derogative term for Tajarans. Urdnot: Unathi compliment meaning strong and wise. Horns-For-Brains: Racist term for Unathi. Sun Salts: Tajaran drug. Pretty much Moon Sugar from ES.
  6. This question came up while I reviewing my mop application. I was going to ask, on the app, if there was some sort of head moderator for the forum, like on the server. Then I realized I was an idiot and and there is no such thing as a head moderator, but there IS a head admin. How do staff report to each other? Id think it was something like- Head Admin Admins Server Mods -And then the forum mods being separate, reporting directly to the head admin. Or is it like what I thought above, except both the admins and mod are equals, and both report to the head admin. Either the way, the most important part of my question is, is there any sort of "leader" for the forum moderators? The rest of this is just curiosity.
  7. Sue, you're right, theres always going to be stuff that isn't fun in every game there is, but just because thats true doesn't mean you shouldn't try to remove all the unfuness you can. If you want to make it seem like this suggestion about believability over roleplay, go make your own thread in suggestion or general, talk about how we should remove the communal brig, cloning, debuff engineering to hell, and remove every non-human species in the game, because those are things where fun, gameplay, and enjoyability already have overstepped reality.
  8. I don't care about the Sec V. Antag "metagame" as you call it. Im interested in keeping the game fun throughout an entire round, even under special circumstances. People were so excited when the communal brig started the idea of prisoner RP, why is everyone so pissed about it now? Who cares if people have fun in the brig? Who cares if its extended and someone commuted a crime to give sec something to do, who cares if someone took a chance to do something during secret because it might be extended? I get that some people seem to be "anti-fairness" around the server, but this is ridiculous.
  9. I made a Skype account just for this, so yes.
  10. Im going to have to tag on with Killer here, theres nothing I can say without sounding like a boot licker. Sierra is one of those people I see in the community that are so nice, connected and cool that I think, "Man, I wish those people could be part of something bigger in the community."
  11. Forum Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: Jboy2000000 Preferred means of contact: Forum PM, BYOND pager or Steam. Now introducing new "Skype" flavour of communication. Age: 18 Timezone: Eastern UTC -5:00 How often do you visit/use our forums?: Several times everyday Experience How long have you been with our community: One year Do you have any experience in forum moderation or administration?: No Have you ever been banned from our server or forum, and if so, how long and why?: I was banned once for three days after attacking a violent nymph that gestated into a full Diona, and another time for writing "Reap" in the chapel, and was banned when an admin ahelped me while AFK because someone thought I wrote "Rape" all over the chapel. Personality Why do you play SS13?: I started playing because I found Goon videos on Youtube, when I found that Goon wasn't as fun as it looked, I found Aurora and stuck around because I found roleplaying was more fun with visual representation, more than just words like I used to. Why do you play on Aurora?: It was the first RP server I ever played on, and it never felt right playing anywhere else. What do moderators do?: They moderate. In a more serious answer, they make sure that things don't get out of hand here on the forums, break the rules like an admin or server mod would do on the server, and to a lesser extent, make the active section of certain forum section less cluttered. That can range from removing people's posts, modifying them, locking threads, or sometimes moving closed threads to the appropriate sub forums. What does it mean to be a moderator for our community?: Thats harder to answer. Moderating for a community makes you a face about the community, and you're also the face of the moderators and other staff. As of late, people seem to be trusting staff less and less, so it might be tougher doing it somewhere else. Why do you want to be a moderator?: I want to help make the community a better, safer place, but I don't fell I commit enough to the server itself to moderate on the server. I figured, if I can't help the server directly, helping the server indirectly by helping the secondary meeting place of the serve world be good enough. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I like to think I have a good grasp on where a cut off between where people can be spoken to about what they've done, and when its time to actually be firm with them. I don't know how often that would be used here, but I thought I should add it here. I also like to think of myself as a people person, and that Ive made friends with people in the community. People need to know they can trust and speak with staff, and I think Im someone who fits that bill. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I like to think I handle all of those things well, but thats my own opinion, and obviously that is objective for myself. Anything Else You Want to Add: Answers to questions Ive seen in other apps: How do you feel about the current state of forum moderation, and would you change anything to the way forums are moderated? I feel like its being moderated well, but thats only because it doesn't seem that the rules of the server are broken very often. As for what and if I would change, I don't very much like the stance the moderators take on shit posting as a means of serious conversation and transference of opinions, but I won't go on a crusade to stop it on my own.
  12. While Suicide Squad-esque Danger Volunteering sounds cool, I think it'd be abuse far, far, far to much to ever be viable. Beside that, Ill run down what I think about the rest of this stuff. Patrol Backup: This sounds really cool, they do, do something like this in real life, last I heard, taking people on as like a "scared straight" program where they take people in patrol cars. Minor Maintenance: I like this, either fix the mess they made, or if its crayon vandalism, or something else like that, monotonous tasks could be cool to do, I don't know about most people, but I actually find them fun and calming. Hence why I like mining, but thats not what we're here to talk about. Arts and Crafts: Eeehh... I don't know if this would work. The only things I can think of to do as an art project with stuff in the art storage might also be considered vandalism, wire art makes you tear up floors, and drawing on the floor in vandalism itself. Library Duty: This seem really cool, as long as its the only alternative, IE, no psychologist, chaplain/counselor, or qualified CMO. This isn't to say they shouldn't be seen as soon as one of those is available though. Physical Work: The only thing I can think of that can be made with given materials are the make-shift weapons like spears, crossbows, flamethrowers, and you get the just of what Im saying. Beside what I said, I don't have any notes about the rest of whats said in Killer's (cool) wii of alternatives and activities for the brigged masses.
  13. Tregas, father. Its your son. You sigh as you speak, reaching out the grab his hand. How do you feel? You father lets out a grim sigh. I will not lie, Ive had better day. As if on cue he starts to hack and cough into a rag he was holding in his other hand, when hes done, you can see the rag is coated in blood, both new, and old. My eyes are... Are fading. My eyesight and memory fade more every day... He drops the bloodied rag, and holds your face, rubbing your cheek. I can barely remember what you look like anymore... My own son.
  14. The Grand Imperial City of Iondul. A beautiful place, really. The very seat of the Kingdom itself rests in town, a towering castle built ages ago. The Great Colosseum is the second greatest attraction of the town, half an hour walk from the castle, bringing flocks of fighters and citizens as the grand tournament starts in one month's time. Outside of those grand surroundings, the buildings and attractions are modest, markets filling the roads that act as a pseudo barrier between the housing district making an outer ring of the city, and the shops towards the inner city. Truly, a great time to live here. ((As Xeng/Valin owns a house, they should probably start there, the other two can start off either already inside the city, or just entering the city as their own discretion.))
  15. Your whole life you've lived in a castle. Swelled in it's luxury, plump with the best food money could buy, and cradled in the finest clothes seamstresses can sew. You father is king of Alberting, and you are his second son. Your father is ill, and it seems thing will soon take a turn for the worse. Even though you lived your life as perfect as anyone could, you're still unhappy that just because your brother was born minutes before you he gets to be king. But the only thing you can do now is wait and hope on of your heirs can earn the crown, or get it yourself somehow. You decide to visit your father is his bed, since hes too ill now to get out. Once you open the door to his bed chamber he looks at you. W-Who... Are you? He asks breathlessly. His memory must be fading in his old age. Poor man can't even remember his own son's name. Dinguses>
  16. The kingdom of Iondul is beautiful place, huge tracks of lush green hills, large emerald forests, architect that looks like the work of the gods, and the citizens are free to do as they please, with little to no interruptions from the crown. But thats not to say there aren’t any bad things. There are cults, vampires, necromancer sects, and disease is all to common in some of the outer provinces. However, no matter how you look at it, no matter where you live, you’ve had it better than you could have somewhere else. There aren’t any other kingdoms, but there are independent places in the world, but news of them being razed to ground, or the entire population dying comes almost everyday. However, one the most obvious downsides to living here is that life get predictable and boring after a while. Thats why some people decide to become adventures. 17. It'd be cool, its not Diona have a deep SEEDED lore as it is now.
  18. No, its like DF on steroids, plastic surgery, muscle implants, and T-90X. That is to say, its like DF, but harder, but kind of easier, and, you know, PLAYABLE.
  19. Yes you do. The game is really................ Fun. You thought I was going to say Killer, didn't you?
  20. So, as it stands, theres two ways Security handles people who make trouble, brigging, which is boring 90% of the time, or arbitrary fines that security never seems to use anyway. So, I thought we could make it so there could be some alternatives to those two things. Labor: Basically, add a shuttle to where the evac pod that security has (had?) that will take people to the asteroid. From there, prisoners can mine to work off their sentences. Crimes and ores would be given a point value, and when a prisoner reaches the point value for their crime, they're released. Borrow some code from TG, with their mining ore redeemer, and you could probably gut the items it usually gives, and put in an ID that just lets them get back to the station. Apparently TG already has labor camp code. But, yeah, could be cool. Beats being alone in a tiny cell, or slightly bigger cell. Community Service: Prisoners are given temp ID's to use for this, they are either used to work in the kitchen, or as a sanitation engineer. They'll work for the normal time that their crime would carry as a brig sentence. Thats all I could think of, but if anyone else has anything to add, feel free. These are just so prisoners have some alternatives, since the communal brig wasn't as big as a change as people thought it would be in terms of giving those poor criminal scumbags something to do while brigged.
  21. Damn that link is so DREAMY
