  1. Nanako's profile requires some explanation to all you non-stitch-counters. Princess Elsa is... 1. In Panzer black. 2. In a white shirt. 3. Not wearing a tie. 4. Wearing infantry piping. 5. Wearing signals collar tabs. 6. Wearing a Field Marshal's collar tab. 7. Wearing a Oberleutnant's shoulder board. 8. Wearing hair below the ears in clear violation of every goddamn regulation on haircuts. 9. Not wearing SS runes. Raising the question, 1. Why do I know these things. Did I +1 this before? While I feel "The Nanakos" are not ideal characters, I still feel "The Nanako" is an ideal player.
  2. "Lord Raven VII: The letter of the law is how people convict other people." The trouble is that moderators are not out to convict people. They're managing a roleplaying community, which requires an entirely different philosophy. I'm not sure the stress and contrary philosophy of your real work leaves you suited for this office, as we have seen a number of instances where you edit or walk back responses because of "a stressful day". Furthermore this office requires excellent communications skills, because it is nothing but speaking the English language to other people. If English is an obstacle for your communication then we will constantly face miscommunication. I don't see this working out well in the long run.
  3. Which is why I want vodka's removed and put on red wine, since red wine has an actual theraputic effect, where the vodka order for Chernobyl was snake oil. Vodka's gimmick can be your hair matting into an ushanka for all I care.
  4. Trouble is red wine actually helps with radiation poisoning, while its not useful if you're having a heart attack.
  5. I would like to see vampires able to husk corpses ala ling and somehow draw blood runes ala cult, to further confuse metagaming.
  6. I have never seen someone so dedicated to doing their job perfectly, and Nanako has come a long way from when she set these first impressions. I met a lot of initial resistance on my whitelist app as well, and much of it was considered ultimately invalid because it was directed at a character and not the player's ability to adjust. Can Nanako the player assume a positive leadership role? I believe she can. +1
  7. Why aren't people putting warp drives on asteroids and cracking Moghes with a relativistic bomb?
  8. The idea vodka saturates your blood and slows down the transport of radioactive isotopes is only effective if you go full Slav and spend your entire exposure to radiation hammered to the floor. I mean, I really doubt its any more than a Stalker game mechanic and an excuse to get radiation survivors drunk instead of dying while sober. Furthermore vodka's effect would be applied to all the alcohols, including red wine, which itself would only grow more powerful.
  9. So if realspace objects are not present in bluespace, how do we prevent warheads from being bluespaced directly inside enemy ships or onto enemy planets?
  10. Why? Is the planet not present in bluespace? Does a gravity well of that size not influence bluespace? What keeps you from bluespacing a torpedo into the middle of an enemy ship? What keeps the enemy from bluespacing nuclear warheads past your defenses and across the upper atmosphere of a target planet?
  11. What stops people from detonating nukes in times square? What stops people from flying planes into the World Trade Center? That out of the way, what if you did not exit bluespace before hitting the planet?
  12. What stops people from putting a warp or bluespace drive on a used tramp cargo ship and turning it into a relativistic planet-killer?
  13. I have always held that our characters are a pattern woven into the brain cells, that long-term memory is "burned in" to this pattern, and that short-term memory is lost in cloning. Because brains decay, there is tremendous motivation to recover and scan the brain as quickly after death as possible. At Central, we frequently have high-resolution backups made in the event we are not recovered, with high ranks scanned more often than low ranks. It amounts to any IT department's backup policy. Save your work, and don't die on the job.
  14. It would be interesting if a variety of things caused APCs to malfuction, if malfunctioning APCs weren't so plainly visible, or if fighting the AI could actually consist of frantically repairing APCs and trying to control the spread of the "virus" until the AI was fixed. Something has to change about Malf, though. There's nothing to do but stare at blue screens, know that its bad form to voice concerns, and then throw your hands up when you get speed-nuked at the end of the round.
  15. Because its an actual thing.
  16. *flips down his welding goggles* *beats you to death with a welder*
  17. WELDER IS FINE TOVARISH.
  18. Eight Bells Coffee. A brand name for straight black strong coffee. 8 Bells is a nautical term for the end or beginning of a watch. It is also a play on 8 o Clock coffee, a popular American brand. Arabica, not peasant scum Robusta.
  19. Move shuttle calls to the keycard authentication panels. No one individual will be able to call or recall the shuttle, and it will be as easy to call the shuttle as it is to call the ERT.
  20. What's wrong with the old coffee mug.
  21. -1 filthy xenolover
  22. I think the best thing we could do is, in a thread about the extent of shitposting, baiting and trolling there is... Stop shitposting, baiting and trolling.
  23. The problem is that somewhere, according to someone, any given action made in character will have a different ideal action according to the observer, especially if that character is making decisions based on bad information (I am in an atmos voidsuit, I am immune to fire). At some point the observer has to assume a character may not make the same decision as the observer. It is why we are roleplaying, after all.
  24. How am I supposed to fear RP carefully opening and closing firelocks with a crowbar while burning alive, but not shooting the cyborg and running to medbay in equal states of panic.
  25. The problem lies in getting to safety. LordRaven's description of events doesn't work, since opening an airlock to a room not on fire would spread the fire to that room. This is also entirely contrary to every bit of damage control training Manfred has. Furthermore after firing the one shot remaining in the ion rifle, he went to Medbay's side access point, where he died. That... that is running to safety.
