  1. Jackboot, those are not a single suggestion. They are ways we can solve this problem with. Three different options. Not complementary. I personally agree with Schev. I think Heads of Staff should all have basic departmental access, as they are trusted, whitelisted players. Also. The Head of Personnel may be the human resources person of the station, but they do not hold any authority over the staff that is under the command of other heads of staff, besides those of being Command itself. They can not demote, promote or suspend anyone that do not belong to their department without explicit request of the appropriate head of staff, Captain, or a vote of Command in case both of these fail. Thus, their access is not needed. The reason HoPs enjoy this amount of access comes from the times HoPs were the defacto Acting Captain and second-in-Command.
  2. (All heads will have maintenance access in newmap.)
  3. Everyone who is whitelisted for Command roles is supposed to know that all heads of staff are equal in rank. This, however, does not reflect on the access privileges that each Head of Staff enjoys individually. As an example, Heads of Personnel get access to all hallway areas of every department, plus AI Upload access and even cells and Security's locker room access. This has to do with the second-in-command past of the role which is not what we do nowadays, as the Head of Personnel is not an elevated rank above other heads of staff. The situation with the Head of Security is pretty similar, with them being able to access pretty much every department's basic areas and even some of the areas which are a bit more restricted, like Mining or the Sorting Office in Cargo. While all other heads of staff enjoy access to the basic areas of Security (as they are supposed to, given their Command position and their ability to act as arbiters), they do not enjoy the privileges of access their colleagues do, holding the same rank. And you could argue that the Head of Security requires basic departmental access because he's supposed to catch criminals. But the Chief Medical Officer is supposed to treat injured people, and the Chief Engineer is supposed to fix explosions, so that point is relevant for most Heads of Staff, with the exception of the Research Director and the Head of Personnel. Now, what can we do about this? We have several options: Remove all extra-departmental access from Heads, leave the only with their department's and Security: We could remove the extra access the Head of Security and the Head of Personnel enjoy, to put it to the same level as the other heads of staff. Give all the heads basic departmental access: We can give all heads of staff basic access to a department, similarly as how the Head of Security currently does, being able to open the front doors into the interior hallway areas, but not being able to access the other rooms. Form a different hierarchy: Now this is more of a tricky thing, but we can just establish a different chain of Command, in which the HoP is indeed the second-in-command and the HoS is the third-in-command. I am not a fan of this idea, but I think it may be worth of discussion, anyways. Other ideas you may suggest: This is why I'm opening this thread for, to gather the general opinion of the community on this matter and to listen for ideas that may work better than those described above. DISCUSS. PS: It would be cool if we reached a consensus soon, given that the new map is being released in the day this was written, and we expect a development meeting very soon. PS2: Also. How do you feel about the janitor being stripped of their basic departmental access to all departments? Thanks.
  4. Given to the current development plans, I really doubt this will be implemented. You won't encounter this issue again, soon.
  5. After a discussion with the rest of the staff, it's been decided not to lift this ban, as I've been made aware that your way of playing synthetics has not changed. You can re-apply for the unban whenever you think you've improved enough and when you think the community has noticed such improvement.
  6. Reopened. I'll get on this in the next few days. Community feedback on the quality of your synth play over the last few months would be appreciated.
  7. I'll process this once the three months are over, which will be in five days, on the 27th. Temporarily locking and suspending.
  8. The application is, indeed, in the Developer Applications sub-forum, which is where it should have been posted initially. You can find it here. In regards to the application being reviewed, developer applications are checked every now and then by the Head Developer. And applicants are accepted as they are needed. Applications don't normally receive immediate denial or approval, given that they are left there until there's really a need for certain staff. If anything, you could try contacting the Head Developer privately, to see what's up with your application, or if they are recruiting wikidevs or not at this moment. I will be locking and archiving this complaint soon, as it's invalid, given the topic was actually moved to the proper sub-forum.
  9. The suggestion has been denied by the leader of the CCIA team. Locking and archiving.
  10. The injuries tags when examining someone do disappear if treated correctly, after they've reached zero. And this tends to happen in way less time than an hour. Probably five minutes, at most. In any case, you are requesting something to be fixed. This is not the appropriate place to report a bug. The proper place would be our Github. Do some tests, again. And if you are sure that this is broken, you can access the Github from the server itself. Top-right corner, there's a "Report a bug" button. It will take you to our bug-tracking thing in Github. Create a new issue in accordance to the rules that will appear.
  11. Round ends are already very messy for mods and admins most of the times. I really doubt they will agree to play these songs manually each round.
  12. Please follow the format. Although this seems like a good try to follow it, it's not how it's supposed to be formatted. You can find a proper example here: https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=7936
  13. Calling a vote at the 2:00 hours mark is completely fine, it's how the system works. Hunter can call the vote when he wants to, and so can the rest of the players. The only issue I can see with Hunter here is that he gets defensive very quickly, but this doesn't seem like a reason to report a player. The attitude of the rest of the involved players seem very aggressive towards Hunter, however, and this is something that is not really allowed on the server. These kind of attitudes should be ahelped. It is a vote. If the vote passes, that means that at least two thirds of the players agree on restarting the round; it's a majority. All players have the right to vote and express their opinion during the vote. The fact that a vote is called by Hunter will probably not change the result of said vote. If it cuts your RP, it's because the majority wanted to transfer. If Hunter's attitude when calling a crew transfer is annoying to you, personally, that's not something we can act on. Hunter, from what I've seen, both personally and from the screenshots, did not show any kind of annoying attitude when calling the vote. If it annoys you, you can toggle your OOC chat; if his attitude is not appropriate, you should aHelp. Based on this, I'll be closing and archiving this complaint with no actions taken. The creator of the thread can contact me via PMs, given justified reasons, to re-open the complaint. Thank your for your input.
  14. Head of Staff whitelists require community support to be approved. That is, being known in the community so people leave their opinions on this app. Play for a couple months, apply then. Also, as you were already told, your character doesn't meet the requirements for a head position. Go to OUR wiki, not Bay's, and have a read at our lore. You are expected to know about NT's lore, and specially employment qualifications, which you haven't read, it seems. My personal advise is that you withdraw the application, play for a bit, get known for your RP abilities, and then apply again with a well developed character, that meets the requirements, and that you intend to use as a Head of Staff.
  15. Hello there. As of the map's current state, I don't think we really need more mappers. All major mapping is done, and most of the issues that are in the map -which are infinite-, are small and normally caused by merging of the different pieces done by each one of us; easily fixable. We are aware of a lot of the issues the map has, and they will probably be fixed before the actual release. In fact, I have personally asked Fowl to inform me when I can start working on the full inspection I plan on doing to the wiring, piping, disposal network and detailing of all the map, as there are merge requests up and you all probably know that we can't really do a lot of things in parallel. I already have a packed list of things that I need to fix, and it only helps if you actually contact us if you spot a mapping error. The decision on this application has to be made by Fowl, and ultimately by Skull. I do appreciate your abilities as a mapper, and the problems you have noticed, but given that we mappers are mostly idle because we can't work on the map if another mapper is working on it and the fact that I doubt major re-mappings will be allowed until we release, I'd say you should apply then, or submit your individual projects as a "ghost-mapper". Let's also please don't criticise the mapper team. Fowl puts a lot of time into the map, and its code, and I'm sure Keknar has put his time as well when he was in charge of his assigned areas. They have pulled with most of the map's work, with me only designing Medical as I am the newest addition. They've done a pretty good job, although there are things that need fixing, which, as I said, will be done.
  16. Alright. I will lift this ban now. I really hope this will be just an isolated issue and won't happen again.
  17. Right. First of all, let me apologise for having to rush your situation and not having a lot of time to speak about what truly happened, as we were about to restart the round. You attacked another player out of nowhere in the Odin. You stopped the attacks before we were able to contact you. Shortly after that, you started punching yourself several times until I winded you. You were contacted and asked if you were aware of the rules regarding EoR grief, and for the reasons to attack the other player. You said you had not read the rules at all, and gave me the reasoning of your attacks against the player, this being them not cloning you in time, or something of the sort. The player was AFK, as it was a moderator who was handling another issue at the moment. Our rules don't allow attacks on AFK players, and it's considered ganking. Ignorance of the rules does not exempt you from punishments for breaking them. We are pretty strict on the rules during end of rounds, specially on delayed rounds, as we are trying to warp all admin situations in order to restart, and all conflict created needs to have a justification. I am open to hear your side, and to reconsider the ban, even if you said you would not be coming back if I banned you.
  18. Aaand, resolved. You have been contacted via Discord.
  19. Right! I've done my job, and checked the logs to get an objective vision on the case. It really seems like you were trying to keep the crew safe, and you attempted to take all the possible ways to avoid any kind of conflict which could injure the crew. That's fine. However, it also seems like you forgot completely about your second law, which tells you to serve the crew, according to their rank and role. You were being issued direct orders to stop trying to give in to the raiders by the Captain, among other heads of staff, but you ignored them. This is obviously not cool. Action to be taken will be discussed, and you'll be informed personally of the outcome.
  20. 'Ello. I'm gonna be handling this complaint. Please stick to the rules of the sub-forum and only post here if you actually were involved in the situation. I am also gonna need the reported party to give their statement in a maximum time of 24 hours from this post.
  21. Hi. I issued the ban in the name of Prate, after a decision was made by the majority of the online staff at that moment, which included me and a few admins. We rarely take a decision all by ourselves. I will also be handling this appeal, given that Prate is still in his trial period. Getting more to the point of this, I know you play in Engineering -as a whole- frequently, and you normally don't mess up with stuff. But your ban history, warnings and staff notes say that you've had a past of incidents with atmospherics in general, the last issues related to this happening just a few months ago. I have also witnessed you doing some weird stuff as a chemist, when you decided to try out thermite in one of the emergency cupboards and create a fire. We were never informed you'd be doing this, but you were not contacted in this case as we were keeping an eye on you. Atmospherics is something easy to grief with, and we don't take the usage of any of the gasses lightly. Although I agree that it's a good idea for riot-control, it's nothing more than a risk we, as a server, take to get griefed quite easily; by only breaking a window. If you intended to make use of this method, your best bet would've been to Ahelp, as you should with most of the stuff pertaining the atmospheric system that could potentially require admin intervention in case it went wrong. Then there's the part where you decided to completely ignore all the heads' orders, those including the CE's, HoS', and Captain's. It is this part that explains the "Poor play" part of this ban. You were not an antagonist this round, and the station was never under any threat to grant this behaviour you had. I am willing to change the permaban to a series of less-strict punitive actions which have yet to be discussed. I will bring this case to the rest of the administration team, and a decision will be made on whether to lift the ban completely, partially or if it should remain. All other players are free to post here with their opinions or whatever you'd like if relevant.
  22. Right. We have discussed this in the Moderation chat, and we have decided not to take any actions against what happened with all the shooting. We, however, don't see that attitude over OOC as appropriate, and action will be taken for this against both of you. If you have any complaints against this decision, feel free to contact me via PMs about it. Closing the report.
  23. Right. I'll be handling this complaint. I can see this shooting as kind of an accident, given the heat of the situation, and LordRaven not clearly understanding what was going on and/or why were you picking up the detective's revolver, which is completely normal. I will, however, discuss this with the moderation team in order to get more feedback before making a decision. There was also an evident lack of common courtesy between you two in the OOC channel, which is what really worries me. OOC is not a place to argue, blame or insult anyone, nor is any of the several OOC channels we have in the server. I will also bring this up in the moderation chat for discussion. Witnesses' statements and further contributions to the report are appreciated as long as you abide by the sub-forum's rules. I should have a response to this shortly.
  24. As stupid as it sounds, it could actually be useful for Diona.
  25. I was there for this. You started attacking the Unathi all of the sudden. Conflict is to be avoided at the shuttle at all times, except when it has started on another place. Your best option would have been to Ahelp about this before proceeding. You have several warnings regarding EoR stuff -some of them very recent-, and an old ban. The following rule is the one being applied to your case: From what I saw, no roleplay was involved when you started attacking the Unathi. Given your warnings, Ricky decided to go with the one-week ban for this.
