[Accepted] Felkvir's discord server unban appeal
Juani2400 replied to Felkvir's topic in Unban Requests Archive
For reference. The staff member that banned you has retired (IncognitoJesus). This ban happened following a strike for the same reason. I'll contact the guys who can unban you from discord to see what they think about this. -
It makes zero sense to not have someone supervising these guards when we are talking about a corporate setting with a clear chain of command hierarchy, and even less that at least some form of coordination doesn't exist. If the whole point of this change is simply to disable Security completely by crippling them to the maximum, then we better keep what we have now. Departmental guards should answer to their assigned department's head first, but actually have a supervisor that is in charge of the security of the station, and of the Security staff. We are going to have prisoners, secondary security staff, forensics and an armoury. There needs to be some sort of figure that takes the decisions on when to arm up everyone, on how to conduct an investigation or to deal with the staff after misconduct (as we can't expect a Research Director lecturing an officer on Rules of Engagement). And as I pointed out earlier, the Captain should not be the person for it, because they are the fail-safe of the chain that you can go to if some other head doesn't do something properly, plus they have many other tasks to take care of, other than just the security of the station. If this change is going to make playing Security a pain, as some people are proposing, let's just steer away from it, as much I would like departmetal guards being implemented.

As a regular Security player, I quite enjoy this idea. As an also regular player of the Head of Security position, not that much. Realistically, we would still need to give the role of supervising and managing the security side of a highly guarded research station to one. While I agree that with this setup, the role of a HoS is kinda weird because you also have the respective head of that department giving you orders, there would be always someone supervising that task, and it should not be done by a Captain, as that would basically interfere with his status of general supervisor of the station, making it impossible to appeal to someone higher if you deem your arrest order not valid We also need to keep the auxiliary roles that come with Security, as they make up for a great deal of what Security does, this meaning CSI and Detective, which could potentially be merged into a single "Forensics Expert" role or similar. At least one Brig Officer is also necessary, for handing the prisoners and sentences. I also see trouble with this system in that we would have no one to cover certain areas of the station, namely the hallways and the surface area. We would need to add one or two officers extra to cover these, potentially could be the responsibility of the cadets. It would also be a good time to give the checkpoint an actual use, with the implementation of mechanics that are useful to it, that I discussed with Arrow some time ago, including X-ray and stuff. A minimum level of coordination is still needed, and as such, Security shouldn't lose their frequency, as departmental guards will eventually require backup when dealing with certain people. The supervision of Security could fall into the jurisdiction of the Head of Personnel, as personnel discipline and actions and staff breaking regulations are close enough. We could even potentially give them a different title to reflect this. They would not be directly in charge of actively leading Security, but they would be the highest authority in charge of the security staff. The idea probably needs expanding, so I'll just drop it here for you to discuss it.

[Resolved] Staff Complaint - QueenOfYugoslavia
Juani2400 replied to Bath Salts Addict's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Sorry for the delay, but I have been unable to do this earlier. I'll be lifting your job-ban. However, next time you ask for permission for something similar to this, evaluate your character's skills and knowledge before doing so. I'm on phone and not able to get on my computer until late night. I'll ask someone to lift the ban for me. As this complaint has no more actions to be appealed, I'll lock it down now. -

Right. I'm going to have a second look at the whole situation and discuss it with a few more people. Give me some hours, and I'll post something else. -

You are being punished for triggering the bomb as a detective, as your character should not be able to do this as a detective, not for the fact that the bomb detonated and/or killed civilians. Evandorf is simply explaining the point there. Maybe it was not worded as it should have been, but we do understand that the collateral made by the bomb was not intentional, and you are not being held accountable for it with this resolution. We, however, understand that you should not have triggered the bomb to start with, even with permission from an admin, as per your character's limitations. Detectives are not trained in explosives, and such your character's knowledge in the matter must be limited. While it is a mechanic fairly simply to understand, and it is also not a very hard thing to do in the real world, due to balancing issues, we need to enforce skill restrictions, and this is one of them. Your history of similar situations has also heavily weighted in this decision, as we do not take lightly that you took such decision after being told and punished previously for powergaming in that same position. -

Once again, and for the last time, I will ask all of the people posting on this thread, to remain on-topic, leaving unrelated complaints against the reporting player, the community as a whole or completely unrelated questions out of this topic and move them to the appropriate sections of the forums. This is a complaint against a member of staff, due to a potentially unfair punishment. If you have nothing to add about the situation that led to the ban, or about the staff member, I will ask you to remain as a mere spectator. This will be the final warning before handing out punishments for it, and before deleting any topics that do not comply with the rules stated above. Thank you for your cooperation. PS: Initially, the complaint will be reviewed on Saturday. The verdict can be expected to be posted that same day, or the next one. -

@EJ_Denton and I will be in charge of this complaint. Due to time constraints, I'll review the complaint on Saturday or Sunday. Please avoid making the complaint more complex, and get to the point with your comments, if you are involved or have something meaningful to add. All involved parties are welcomed to give their side of the story, in order to help the case. See you on the weekend. -

Hello. Your ban time is not up. You were told to not re-apply for an unban before four months in October. Please come back in February, as it is when the four months would have elapsed. This will be locked and archived in 24 hours. Denied. -
"Men of NanoTrasen" 2461 Promotional Calendar!

Submissions closed. Chosen staff members will be contacted soon. Full availability is required to attend the shooting sessions. -
I'm in favour of this suggestion. It would actually force antagonists to elaborate a proper plan before considering to attack/kidnap/rob the person with access to all of the station, including the Vault, AI and the financial account computer. The "I need to talk to you in your office" trick is extremely old and it's a pretty vague yet very common way of antagonizing. Non only this, but it would force the antagonists to interact less with Command and more with the regular crew, because it is simply much harder to get Command. I don't mind if it's added for all heads of staff, but I say we experiment it first with the Captain's office only, and depending how that goes, implement it fully, keep it only for the Captain or remove it.

Hello. You were PM'd several times, you were frozen and PM'd, yet you did not answer. Once you got to your destination, you just left the cockpit as if nothing had happened. I am not sure how can you miss the Admin PMs, as it makes a noticeable sound, with a very large, red font text in your chat. The crew you left behind had to be teleported onto the ship because you just left them behind, without even warning that you were going to depart. In any case, I am willing to give you one more chance. If this ever happens again, you will be permabanned again, with no possibility of unban. Try to fix these errors, so don't have to get to that point.

Before removing cloaks, that are, as Jackboot said, a cultural portrait of certain species and are widely used by those (see Unathi and Vaurca), I'd remove the jackets or the sombrero first, together with a few other fashion items that certainly add very little to the setting, and are more of a meme thing than anything (cowboy hat, pls). I'm fine with them being restricted to Xenowear for Unathi and Vaurca, or otherwise limited ICly, but an outright removal is not required. Furthermore, these species are cold-blooded, if I'm not mistaken, so it kind of makes sense. What doesn't make sense is seeing Tajaran or humans with them, and if it were by me, those would be actually penalized if they wore one. EDIT: To clear up some confusion to what I said about cold-blooded species, this is against the argument of temperature that was given. The cloaks won't make them warmer, but unlike other species who are endothermic, they will not suffer from an excess of heat (see tajara, humans).

[ACCEPTED] Juani's Vaurca Application
Juani2400 replied to Juani2400's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Should be fixed now. Thank you for pointing it out, completely missed it! -
BYOND Key: Juani2400. Character Names: Vera'Qaule Weqrr-Xeblakk (Captain), Trylls Kilp-Umiish (Head of Security), Ke'Quip Wiqsaiit (Chief Medical Officer), Maqsood'tur Bayesoh (Head of Personnel), Oisla'rrk Waa'rii (Security Officer). Species you are applying to play: Vaurca. What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): [RGB 71 ,11, 51], as a bound worker of the Ta'Akaix'Scay'extiih'aur's brood. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, I have. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: This species has always seemed like a very fun species to play with, specially with the amount differences between the hives and the types of Vaurcae, which allows a great combination of factors to make different characters with a single whitelist. I also quite enjoy their mechanical differences, which make them unique when compared to any of the other species of the game, which ultimately are all pretty much the same. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: It has been ages since I last played a human. But I think the differences are quite obvious, and will always depend on the type of individual that you are playing; bound or unbound, hive and type if bound. The species' setting as some sort of refugees in the system, their just recent discovery by humans or the discrimination to which they are subjected to are things that are not present in any other species, and thus it requires developing a new way to RP them, making them hugely different from humans. Character Name: Ka'Viax'Zuul Zo'ra. Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Born as a worker class vaurca from the Ta'Akaix'Scay'extiih'aur's brood, Ka'Viax'Zuul was immediately chosen to be a bound, medical-specialized helper, as part of a replacement for a group of medical workers who perished during an accident in a medical facility due to a mishandling of oxygen meant for chemical synthesis, which reacting with the present phoron in the atmosphere of the ship, resulted in an explosion, killing a total of fifteen people in the facility. Right after its birth, it was lobotomized and installed its first augments. It would then spend several months being fed all the information required for its career through VR, before being implanted its neural socket and sent to work to one of the several medical facilities of the hive-ship. 'Zuul worked and developed, within its limits as a bound, his career on-board the hive-ship for three decades uneventfully. His assignment in the facility was that of a paramedic, working to stabilize and bring the patients into the medical facility. As his nature of a bound vaurca, he would apply the same routine for every patient that required medical aid after arriving to a scene: scan a patient, seal bleeding spots, inject a mixture of stabilizing agents, and transport. Over, and over. 'Zuul was not able to perform anything outside of what he had been trained for; he had been given instructions on how to detect and seal a bleeding wound, on how to inject the mixture, and how to transport safely, and this what he did. After the arrival of the Titan Prime -the hive-ship 'Zuul worked on- into human space, he was one of the first batches of vaurcae who were evacuated from the ship. It was then, rendered useless because of the lack of medical facilities, that the hive decided to re-adapt 'Zuul slightly and to send him, in accordance to the contract signed with the Tau Cetian authorities and NanoTrasen, to fill one of the quota spots for medical staff in the latter. It was then that 'Zuul was sent to one of the major escort ships of the company, the NMV Poseidon. Several years were spent on the ship, before suffering a reassignment to the NSS Aurora after a training policy was introduced, that required medical staff aboard the Security Services ships to take training courses on basic combat, something 'Zuul was unable to do because of his bound nature. What do you like about this character? This character has been designed to be simplistic and linear, as the latter is what I understand a bound vaurca is: X happens, I react in a certain pre-trained Y way. While I will experiment with both sides of the species, I am specially interested in the roleplay of bound Vaurcae because of this reason. The character itself, as seen, it's not much more than a simple worker drone with no self-conscience, and that's what I enjoy of this possibility, and it's something that makes them different from roleplaying station-bounds or IPCs. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Really average. A 7 out of 10, at most. Notes: I've finally made it.

Unbanned. Please take a bit of time to read the rules, and to clarify what you can and can't do.

I don't play cargo tech, but quartermaster from time to time. I find the Cargo Bay sometimes doesn't have much workload to justify 2 techs plus the QM. Is this not the case? Will adding a new tech not make it even less busy (with already low workload) for those existing slots?

Unban Request [without salt this time duh]
Juani2400 replied to BCV's topic in Unban Requests Archive
Server staff is under no obligation to serve under your interests of time. The first step towards not having to wait through an unban appeal is to not get banned in the first place. If it really took you 42 times, and three languages to understand the rules as you claim, after being banned, you should have done that before playing. Your passive-aggressive behaviour towards staff and the rules of this server is a thing, and I see zero improvement of that, or any improvement in general, in this appeal. As such, and after talking with some staff, including the banning moderator, you will not be unbanned now, or in a month. This will remain a permanent ban. -
Lifting the ban.
