  1. Tranquility: A movie about the events immediately preceding the Holocaust of 2316. The movie depicts the events spanning from the October 24th Coup by Earth military commanders to the launching of KKV's against colonial worlds under the alliance's Tranquility Protocol. The movie is applauded for its historical accuracy, though many accuse it of romanticizing the actions of the mutineer forces that remained loyal to the civilian government, who were responsible for the destruction of the old Alliance capital and subsequent activation of the Tranquility Protocol. The movie comes following the recent declassification of a number of Alliance military documents related to the coup and the activation of the Tranquality Protocol.
  2. Sorry, I do nazi what you did there. This description has way fuhrer hints than I would like, but from what I see this film is definitely not in mein kampfort zone.
  3. Ffrances, I'll get on that once I actually manage to think out a coherent idea. I personally think it would be silly if we could combine things from separate planets, given that they're, well, utterly separate genetically, but for things from a single biosphere I think this could be interesting. I do think different combinations of bacteria could be very useful. Like biological nanomachines.
  4. I'd definitely be all for adding these items as custom items. This is exactly the sort of thing I think custom items should be used for. This could inspire people to have their Tajaran, Unathi, or Skrell characters bring religious icons/garments onto the station as well.

    A theory.

This was Lockie's assignment prior to the Aurora.
  6. Regardless, the message itself should be considered independent of the tone. That could be a valid concern. Personally, I'm not too sure about using convicts as test subjects.
  7. As others have stated in the other thread, it's rather silly for people to rediscover superpowers every single round, and genetics could be given other roles instead. For example, they could culture replacement organs for people, or try genetically engineering some animals (like a non-sentient meatsack which can be harvested for meat). Perhaps they could be combined with virology and made into 'biologists' (with geneticist and virologist as alternative titles for the same job-slot, like medical doctor and surgeon). Perhaps they could try genetically engineering bacteria to perform certain tasks, such as cleaning up hazardous waste, synthesizing certain materials, or making advanced medicines. Perhaps the geneticist could team up with botany to make better crops. Perhaps the geneticist would be able to work with creatures from the Unathi, Skrell, Tajaran, human, and diona ecosystems, with each category of organism having its own advantages and limitations. There's a lot of things you can do with a geneticist other than making super powers (which I think are quite a bit silly). Their work could be used to help out numerous departments. They could help chemistry make medicines, they could help botany make better crops, they could help medical by making replacement organs, they could synthesize clean-up bacteria to help engineering deal with stuff like plasma spills. There's a whole lot of stuff they could do. Edit: In fact, they could also do some interesting things with Tajaran and Unathi genomes. Finding the cures to various disorders in their species could be interesting and less immersion-breaking, due to them being more recently discovered.

    The List

Erik Tiber Lockie Green - Neurotic, overly-friendly half-Turkish doctor. She's affectionate, socially inept, and very naive, especially for a 34 year old. She's very submissive to the point of dysfunction, unless she believes one of her patients to be in danger. She's prone to panic in extreme situations, and can be very loud when she does. Zheng Lu - Shithead 29 year old cargo tech/quartermaster, speaks in unintelligible Singlish. Curses constantly and calls everyone a chee bye. A braggart who projects a 'tough guy' persona, despite being a coward who's never done anything more serious than petty theft. He'd be willing to give up anything to save his own ass. He's previously worked as a chef at a restaurant and as a maintenance/cargo tech aboard a freighter. Chandrakanta Bhattacharya- Heavily augmented 45 year old Indian roboticist/surgeon. She's quick to criticize others as 'lazy' or 'incompetent' if they don't live up to her high standards. She has a soft spot for synthetics, especially Android. Cahya Purnama - 7 foot tall tightass security officer/station engineer, Indonesian. Pretty arrogant and emotionally distant, and a huge stickler for rules. Being 62 and a bit experienced, he normally sees himself as more competent than his superiors and bosses around everyone near him. Pride and reputation are a big thing for him, and he's very reluctant to admit fault.
  9. ...for what's it worth, you can use the hand-labeller to give it some unique name, if nothing else. In order to bring attention to it. Whenever I play Lockie, I normally label her gloves with her name, to differentiate them. It works out fine for me, I'd advise you do something similar.
  10. Perhaps a more generic style ship? It could be quickly outfitted to be either a civilian freighter, a civilian passenger ship, or an anti-smuggler orbit guard ship.
  11. I agree with this reasoning. Nanotrasen is not a sovereign state, and it is silly to make it one. Sure, subvert the existing government infrastructure, but just making it into a sovereign state outright just kills the plausibility for me, and just seems like such a gigantic wasted opportunity. Seconding this as well. This doesn't seem to make much sense at all. It seems more like a thrown-on feature included because it 'sounds cool', without thinking out the implications or whether it even fits. That is a very poor way to add content, regardless of how many excuses (and these are excuses) are made for it.
  12. I'd like something more compact and small, if we had to resprite. Maybe some cylinder with a fire alarm light on top and a second light below that giving the alert color.
  13. I have an utterly egotistical suggestion for a response: "A leaf on the motherfucking wind".
  14. Lockie Green, please. I suggest calling it the FSC Invincible, just to tempt fate.
  15. Lockie Green I finally decided on this after Rechkalov came out with this picture of Lockie.
  16. Holy shit that is an awesome picture! I'm making that my avatar. That picture of Daniela is so awesome too. Everything is so awesome!
  17. To just preempt this argument, you don't need to worry about lasers, say, burning a hole in the station, which is what I think would be a notable concern in space. Given that these are likely pulse lasers, the pulsing could be optimized for use against flesh rather than metal. Due to the way pulsing works, different materials with different specific heats will need different 'rates' of pulsing to burn through them as quickly as possible. You could probably adjust it to cause less trauma against flesh if you felt the need to, for some reason, this presents you with a variety of options. But nobody really cares about that stuff, so back on topic. Back on topic: I'm still agreeing with Sue over this. We can and should give these rifles magazine-equivalents. It could be either a normal power cell, which we can balance out by showing just how power-hungry lasers can be. Alternatively, we could give them a special laser-rifle magazine thing which can only be used by these weapons; simply state that it's a power cell combined with a heat-sink to help cool the thing, and that laser rifles and energy guns can't use normal power cells because they don't have heat-sinks on them. I have no idea how one would 'recharge' a heat-sink, maybe the magazine recharging stations could just replace them?
  18. Yeah, I'm not sure Tina has enough connections on that chart.
  19. Simply state that the laser power cell contains both an advanced heat sink and a power cell.
  20. I was more thinking about the degree to which humans should use genetic engineering and implants to modify themselves, and how they should modify themselves. Basically a debate over transhumanism, augments, that sort of thing. This sort of thing could come up whenever people start discussing prosthetics and augments of various sorts. Though I would also be interested in what you're talking about.
  21. Please reply to the rest of my post. And yes, I did. EDIT: Apparently I'm confused over the definition of authoritarian and different meanings of the word. Bah, I'll let someone who knows better correct this, and I'll try to do more research first. Please be more detailed in your replies. Please actually reply to the rest of my post, or read it at the very least. Also, if you will only respond to a tiny portion of my post, would you mind cutting everything you aren't replying to?
  22. That just means that voting takes two minutes instead of one. It would reduce strategic voting (voting with feels, as some others have put it), which was the point of muting OOC during votes. Simply have an initial vote, then a vote between the top three choices. It's simple enough, and might be simple to code.
  23. You seem to have somewhat missed the point of me asking all those questions. I would like in-depth answers. You miss my point. Fascism is by definition populist. It is not authoritarian. So, based on what you've said, I'm just going to say that this party must not be authoritarian. If someone who knows politics wants to correct me, please do so. I'd like you to be more explicit and less implicit. Explain what exactly you mean. Explain the specific methods they want to use. Specific policies they would support. I'd like you to go into detail about this. So they want to enact economic fascism, where the economy has central planning but this planning gets delegated to various state-sponsored private monopolies? I want you to elaborate. Explain what you mean. Go in-depth. What do you mean? Do they want to increase the power of the Sol system in particular? Do they want to increase the power of the central government in the Sol Alliance relative to the power of the individual member states? Do they want to increase the power of the Sol Alliance relative to other human nations? Do they only want to cut the power of nanotrasen, or do they want to decrease the power of megacorps in general? This is vague. Labels such as 'right' or 'left' are vague to the point of uselessness. Who do they appeal to, in terms of social class? IE among the rich or poor. Do they appeal to Earth ex-pats? Do they appeal to people in the larger more populous worlds, or in the less populated settlements? Please be less vague.
  24. I view both of these aspects as great additions to the lore, and examples of the sort of things I, personally, would like to see. The setting gives you the chance to address issues which are basically out-of-context problems for humanity. Note that the following paragraph is mostly me talking out of my ass about something which I don't have too much education about, just a semester of anthropology. At present time in-setting, technology has advanced to the point where humans can modify themselves. Throughout all of human history up to this point, human nature has remained constant. Man has retained a brain and biology which evolved for life as a hunter-gatherer, living in egalitarian groups of 100-200, and where our primary tool of adaptation has been culture. So many prominent aspects of human nature originate in these differences. So, now that humanity can modify itself, what do we do? Do we change society to accommodate our roots, or do we change humanity to better adapt to modern society? I don't really know what I'm talking about and would really like people to correct any inaccuracies in my post, I just like that these groups both seem rather original and have a lot of thought put into them, rather than simply being (modern issue) in space. Now I finally get what you meant.
  25. Nitpick, the aronym is done incorrectly. You do not include The in the acronym, it should be HRM. Will comment in depth later.
