LordPwner's Head Staff Application
Chada1 replied to LordPwner's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I've roleplayed with Uriel more than a couple times. He can bring conflict to situations where there isn't any, which is a good thing IMO. You stated you would teach people if possible, that's good. I'll give a +1 and hope i'm right. -
LemonTheFruit - Player Complaint

He did know what was going on. That's what that scene should tell you. Anyway, I was saying you have a valid point that he shouldn't have unloaded a full round into you. -
LemonTheFruit - Player Complaint

Alright, so. Let me explain too. I'm not going to defend anything Lemon said in OOC. I'm merely going to explain a scene you missed so that you realise the Mutiny was all SleepyWolf and/or Sharja-players idea, not Lemon/Grey-beards. As for what I was saying earlier, Lemon can speak for themselves past that... I just want it to be seen how it was. So we were sitting in the bridge of the skipjack talking, suddenly Zor and Sharja burst in and declare a Mutiny, it was this scene I was talking about when I said this. That is the scene that Lemon joined the Mutiny in, and it was sort of like Conscription since if he hadn't offered to join the Mutiny there's no telling what they would've done ICly. Accept the Mutiny wasn't Lemons idea and that you have the facts straight and i'm done here. As for the true reason of the Mutiny? SleepyWolf and Sharjas player would have to get in here for that. Also if I was being held, I could hear your comms, so I knew more than you seem to think I knew. My final point is, he shouldn't have shot you so quickly, that is very VERY valid. Chada works, and thank you for staying civil. -

I don't think you understand the situation here, Unknown. He joins the Mutiny or he dies/gets perma-cuffed.. He's going to join the mutiny in that situation. -
LemonTheFruit - Player Complaint

I was there as Cyborg Penny (MMI at the time, I was decapitated and was being used as a gruesome pAI). It was Sleepywolfs idea to Mutiny, not Lemons. Lemon was recruited by Sleepywolf to mutiny. Originally, Sleepywolfs character was going to shoot Lemons character, with the cooperation of Sharja (A kidnapped Shaft Miner) There's no rule against Antagonists fighting each other. It's bad to do but it's not against the rules. That said, i'm not saying you deserved the mutiny, it was a jerk thing to do, but it wasn't Lemons idea. I'm pretty sure Zor (Sleepywolf) and Sharja (The Miner) had grew a bit close, so the Mutiny was probably about saving Sharja and not... uhh... a radio? That's just why Lemons character decided to join the mutiny. This is my viewpoint. -
Asianmang's Head of Staff Whitelist Request
Chada1 replied to Aznmang's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
This was the type of explanation I was looking for. Alright, i'll change my -1 to a +1 since I obviously didn't have the full story. I thought you bombed just to bomb. I was mistaken, sorry. But you still bombed with the express purpose of killing everybody, try not to do that, please. It's not fun for everyone, just the cult. You wanted insight? Joriah seems like a solid character, you play him a lot and it shows. I haven't had the ability to RP with him much yet (Because everytime I try i'm murdered by cultists, I S2G!) but i'll get there. I wouldn't be able to vouch for you on experience, but the application is good, and you didn't go off on me for -1ing you, so i'm going to hope you'll be careful not to do stuff like those bombing incidents, if you get antag as RD, and stay as calm as you did with that last reply, if people call you out in OOC. -
So my question is simple: How far would Nanotrasen go to enforce religious freedom? Would they discriminate someone from getting a higher-paid job due to their religious beliefs, assuming it was a set of harmless, or altruistic but crazy ideals? I want to make a dedicated Chaplain/Quartermaster/Cargo-tech and don't understand if they could reasonably fluctuate between the three or not. They definitely would have the age since i'd make them old, but the question to the top is holding me back, because I feel like Nanotrasen is the type of company that would stop someone who believed that strongly in something from ever getting a job like Quartermaster regardless of their skills/training. So I need official input. Another question in the same vein, the Psychiatric Evaluations... Do they target religion in anyway? By qualifications it's not that difficult to make and justify a character for Quartermaster/Cargo-tech, but I still want this question answered before I do it, because I really don't want to make a character everyone disapproves of. So depending on input i'll decide if I make them just a Chaplain and bench them for rounds that Chaplain is taken.

I'm up for seeing K'ois added, and they'd probably be able to just re-use the already ingame sprites for it, too. Wouldn't bother me any.

Asianmang's Head of Staff Whitelist Request
Chada1 replied to Aznmang's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I've had very very very bad experiences with Joriah in the past. Namely, you got Antag and bombed the Station to hell two times in a row in dead hour. I haven't forgotten that. -1 unless you explain yourself. And I am impressed with your views on what the purpose of a head is, and what their responsibilities are. -
[Inactive] Heads of Staff, Cirukcaller's application
Chada1 replied to Cirukcaller's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Your story is pretty solid, and the length is good. OOCly you didn't give me much to go on, and since I haven't roleplayed with you before, I can't really have an informed opinion here. So i'll just post and hope you get back to me with some questions. You seem like you have the right mindset, but are you prepared to help newer players learn the game if they need help, or teach them what you know? Also, you state you can be trusted to not abuse your position, but can you be trusted to keep your calm if you are called out in OOC? -
Daradevil42 Head of Staff Application

I've roleplayed with you, A LOT. You probably know me as (If you remember) Dan Nowell. I've only seen one of your characters. (Luigi Agazzi, incidentally the same character you're applying with.) And I did like the way you played them. My only complaint is the character seems a bit snowflakey, but you don't play them as snowflakes, so it doesn't really bother me. You've demonstrated to me that you are honest about these quotes, since you taught me how to be a Doctor in the first place when I started playing on Aurora. I'll +1. -
Vaemar's Head of Staff Application
Chada1 replied to Vaemar's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Alright, I may be about to be a little harsh on this one. Sorry. I personally believe you answered this question incorrectly. You're right about the purpose being to keep their department in line, but this was about OOC, not IC. And the ... final quote. "(or if they are traitors, misguide the station into doom and destruction)" This worries me. This really worries me. IMO, A head traitor/antag shouldn't go that far, ever. We're talking about the OOC purpose here... Also, playing a Head of Staff position, you don't have to, but should, IMO, be able to teach other players how to play in the department. That should be a thing. You should have that much experience before playing it. More on that in the next quote. Right here you bring up what I mentioned before. About teaching players how to play if they need help. I approve of this. A Head of Staff player shouldn't be forced to teach, no. But they should definitely be prepared/able to. Furthermore, you say you are struggling with mechanics, are you sure you're ready for a Head position? I mean, you don't have to be amazing or super experienced at the game to play Head so long as you're a good roleplayer, and you seem to have a decent mindset, aside from that first quote, but you'll probably be overwhelmed if you're struggling with mechanics and people need help... It's like if the Chief Engineer was the only person in the Engineering department, you'd be expected to get that Engine online by yourself. There are expectations attached to Head positions, even if they may just be social expectations. While it might be alright to not meet those expectations, they're still there. I'm going to -1, unless you can refute my points and explain the 1 year thing. -
Dreviore - Head of Staff Application(IAA)
Chada1 replied to Dreviore's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Nicholas seems like a good character, I've seen him around as a Visitor and there was nothing negative, but I never got to roleplay with him directly, only seen him around. However, I have roleplayed with Daniel Seraph and a little bit with Aurelia. No negative experience with Daniel, either. Though, I will say Aurelia can be obnoxiously silly at times... It's clearly intentional with their character. Coupled with your characters, I've seen you keep your cool in debates and other things and not be... what's the word? aggressive? In OOC. So even if there were a problem from what i've seen you'd probably be able to smooth it over in OOC before it escalated to anything. So, i'll +1 and hope i'm right about the OOC part. -
LemonTheFruit IPC Application
Chada1 replied to LemonTheFruit's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Alright, so I've roleplayed with Jimmy, and seen PAL:OS around as a Cyborg/AI once or twice, I think. but my impression of Jimmy was rather negative, and not ICly, In OOC. From what i've seen he's the type of Security, (Don't know if it's intentional or a character trait, or if like most Security players you're just de-sensitized.) that rushes into combat without any fear whatsoever. My impression of PAL:OS was good. But it was rather brief. The application is well done IMO. This is my opinion at this time, after I roleplay with Jimmy/your other characters more it'll probably change-- I don't have much experience RPing with you and only go off of what I've seen/read here. And I might've just came in at the wrong time and saw the bad side of Jimmy. Like you asked, I judged you by PAL:OS and not Jimmy/Violet Mcfly. I +1. -
I think the main problem is that there's nowhere for them to be. I mean. If you look at Assistant/Visitor it makes sense they wouldn't have an office or place, but if it was a Mascot, they'd have somewhere like a lounge, wouldn't they? The Vacant office needs to stay vacant for RP purposes IMO, Visitor Diplomats and Recruiters need an office. On old codes Clown and Mime both got an office of their own which gave them stuff to use and a place to be. This is a travel role like Assistant with no place to go. I think it's a neat idea, but I don't like the idea of having nothing to do for two hours. That said, if Visitors were so widely allowed, which i'm not sure if they are or not? A mascot would make sense. And ontop of all of what I said in the above, Clown would break immersion... There's no guarantee that a new name, items, and fluff, would fix that problem. I do love the idea of extra jobs...

It's alright anything that cracked you up ingame works, and wow? A meteor gun? Holy crap. I didn't even know that was in the game.
-
Okay, I noticed a lack of any thread like this one, and was unsure of where to post it, really. So I decided i'd post it here, and share two stories that happened to crack me up. I'll post more as they happen on the server. I expect and hope other people will share as well. Also, sorry, don't have any pictures Maybe next time. Alright, here's situation 1: So I decided I wanted to work on Solars for a round, so of course I play my character who is basically obsessed with Solar power. Well, I go through the basic RP over Engineering and all of that, declare i'm a Solar Technician and that's all i'll be doing. After I finish setup on the Solar, i've noticed how terrible it looks, the wires are jagged, all multi-colored. and... ugh. My character just ignores it because it's working. That's when it happened. A Cyborg who was in space for some reason comes across my Solar and yells over comms. "WHAT KIND OF BARBARIAN WAS WIRING THE SOLARS?", I literally die laughing. And Situation 2: I decided I wanted to try QM for a round just to try it out and since there were no Cargo players around. Not long after I join in, a Shaft Miner joins. This is fine, I don't mind. Anyway, the funny part: After a while of playing, I'm about to deliver a crate of Metal to Robotics, and decided to use the Cargo tug instead of Disposals. I got stuck against the Photo-copyer. I sat there for a minute or two trying to get unstuck, that's when the Shaft Miner shows up with a crate full of Ore. My character just says. "Hey, uhh... A little help?" and the Shaft Miner was basically speechless. We played it off as me crashing the tug, and the situation was so ridiculous it made me laugh.

Most the time Dave can be pretty good, but I have mixed feelings, too. The way he responds to actual threats is great. He displays actual fear and worry, but... sometimes the comedy can kinda spiral out of control, like that one round with the mice. That's my opinion, though.
-
Well this is a good time to brush up on my lore and finish my Cadet character I guess.
-
Do I count as involved? New to these kind of rules. Anyway, I saw it from the start, after Cryoing (With Permission) as the second Antag. While I agree with making a grisley scene, I think he shouldn't have decapitated, actually... In my opinion when you do that at all to multiple dead bodies it should be considered foul play, because it takes surgery to re-attach the head, and that's over 4 surgeries for everyone. Very bad. He basically made it, intentionally or not, impossible for Security to bounce back without serious medical attention beyond just cloning, which in turn made the round rather boring for everyone that wasn't involved since as soon as you kill literally every security officer ('Cept A Vaurca, can't remember the name, to be accurate) there're almost no more announcements to ICly worry about and/or respond to. And i'd like to remind everyone of something very factual, too. This isn't a competitive server, so decapitating the heads like that could be considered even worse since it basically made it impossible for anyone to get cloned in less than a 30 minute timespan. While I don't agree with how he killed all of Security myself, I am not going to make a point on that, that isn't what bothered me personally, it's just the above that really got to me, because, from my point of view, it's not fair and an unfun mechanic that does make sense due to the neural interface tech used with the cloning, but I believe is only really there due to mechanical limitations, same reason you can't clone a replacement arm or the such. I'm not saying he should be punished for decapitating, no. I'm just suggesting that this is an example of the mechanic being abused, as well as letting everyone know my, albeit small, side of the story. Please have mercy if I don't count as involved.

Alright I have a suggestion to be added to the custom loadout list... the Corporate Regulations book. I want to make a Security Cadet character and when I do i'll be getting that book right off the bat and have my nose in it all game. So, it would really help me out and tbh should be in the list anyways. My opinion.

Slimes should be dangerous, but when you can't even kill an adult when it splits with four people each using an extinguisher (This actually happened in a Vampire/Thrall round) it gets very ridiculous. I agree they need to be toned down some, but just enough so that they can actually be countered. I mean, If you got the freeze-ray to work on them that would be fantastic, then there's a counter.
