Reporting Personnel: Jack Langley Rank of Reporting Personnel: Internal Affairs Agent Personnel Involved: Detective Jesse Armstrong (offender), Assistant Brian Swanson, Assistant Jorge Bikeweed, Assistant Mike Bikeweed, Assistant Igam Yute, Assistant Nisanci Kurt, Bartender Esmee Scott (reporting employee), Warden Raniyah Al-Hamdani Time of Incident: Location of Incident: Within the station dormitories or in close proximity to them. Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property [X]Neglect of Duty []Harassment []Assault []Misconduct []Other _____ Overview of the Incident: A physical altercation occurred between Assistant Brian Swanson, Assistant Jorge Bikeweed and a third employee, in the above-mentioned area of the NSS Aurora. Bartender Esmee Scott witnessed and reported this violation to security. Due to the rest of the security force being occupied with other matters, the responding security personnel were Warden Raniyah Al-Hamdani and Detective Jesse Armstrong. Upon arriving on scene, Warden Al-Hamdani opened fire on the three suspects with her tazer in an attempt to contain the violence, accidentally subduing Miss Scott in the process. Once Miss Scott recovered and stood up, however, Detective Armstrong immediately flashed her, grabbed her by the neck and threw her across the room, into the dormitories. This sort of incompetence and use of excessive force demonstrated by Mr. Armstrong is unacceptable by our employment standards and detrimental to crew morale and company image alike. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: See "Rank of Reporting Personnel". Additional notes: Due to Mr. Armstrong's absence, I have elected to write an incident report on behalf of Miss Scott, as he could not be interviewed on this shift.

Since we've gotten a concrete answer, unless anyone would like to give any further input, I'll be locking and archiving this in 24 hours.
-
Mistake acknowledged and will presumably be prevented in the future. Unless any involved parties see fit to post, I'll have to lock and archive this due to inactivity.
-
For the record, it unfortunately IS our job, as any actual copyright violations could be problematic for our host especially.
-
Alright. Just don't turn this into 40Kstation and don't make a habit of it. It's a gimmick, so it will get tiresome for both you and everyone else (though I don't pretend to know which will be first). I did, in fact, have the intention of asking you to tone it down a bit on said round, before being confronted by a sort of arab greytide and forgetting all about it. Copyright on words is a non-issue. SS13 steals from everyone equally. Conclusion: Yeah, okay, there's no disciplinary action to undo, just a note of "keep it reasonable, don't do it all the time". A trans-stellar megacorporation is probably not going to spend money on an AI based on 40K Orks, but we can probably suspend our disbelief once in a while. Either way, thank you for being civil.

The acting staff member's actions have been explained in a reasonable manner and I do not see any glaring issues with his conduct. Locking and archiving.

Locking and archiving this, as it seems the dispute was resolved.

Will be locking & archiving since it seems this is settled.
-
The way it's meant to be. o7 thank you for your service.

Are we really attempting to justify a whitelisted player's character shrugging off being on fire? I was under the impression that we marketed ourselves as a heavy roleplay server and community. The fact that it doesn't cause damage code-wise is irrelevant - I do fondly recall people abusing firesuits to go EVA without appropriate protection being PMed, for instance. As for why being whitelisted is relevant: Whitelisted players will always be held to a higher standard, especially when playing on their command characters. Regardless, ban requests are for outright grief and/or other entirely malicious actions. I'd appreciate it if you'd post this in the form of a player complaint so it can be handled appropriately. Edit: This is pretty important. You set yourself on fire, and made a conscious effort of remaining on fire for shits and giggles. Whether it affected anyone's round adversely or not doesn't matter - this is a pretty clear rule.

Denied due to general player inactivity and failure to answer questions. You are more than welcome to appeal when you have the time and will to respond to any related inquiries.
-
Lifted. Consider yourself on probation for an indefinite amount of time. Further bans of this magnitude may not be entirely easy to appeal.
-
Already lifted by this time. Archiving.

Alright. Will be lifting this shortly, considering what Ryfer's said. Consider yourself on probation.

Staff Complaint: IncognitoJesus
Doomberg replied to spacevoidagent's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Preface: The rules are not a catch-all. No, "do not talk about or reference Nazi Germany" is not specifically written in the rules. This does not automatically make the act okay. Now, you were referencing said regime - this isn't something you can deny, considering you specifically mentioned the Waffen SS, Hitler quotes, and the rather famous phrase that was literally displayed at the entrance of Auschwitz. I will not get into explaining why the Nazis/SS/Hitler weren't okay guys, because that's a talk we really, REALLY shouldn't need to have, and it's also not relevant to the issue at hand. The bottom line is: This is not about morality or political correctness. The moderator in question or one of his colleagues asked you to stop or change the subject, yet you did not cooperate even after an OOC mute, and you were thus warned. And before you move on from questioning the validity of the punishment and instead choose to question the staff member's logic in asking you to stop discussing this, allow me to ask: Do you really believe that it would be a good idea to greet a hypothetical new player with cries of "Arbeit macht frei" in global OOC? Is it really inconceivable that this could be bothersome, or that it might just create a pretty terrible first impression? -

Xelnagahunter's Server Moderator Application

Application accepted following trial period. -
Okay. You were confronted by an armed antag while being entirely unarmed, yourself. Your lack of cooperation isn't necessarily the issue here - the issue I see is this: Instead of refusing to cooperate by putting as MUCH distance as possible between you and said armed terrorist/murderer/pirate and setting a sort of trap or doing your best to gain the advantage or just never encounter them again, you stepped over to disarm them of their weapon. Generally speaking, trying to wrestle a sword out of someone's hand when you have the ability to get the hell away and fight later on even ground is not a very sane course of action. I can't ask you to drop to the ground and become useless in a hostile encounter the moment you're shot - I've seen that sort of enforcement elsewhere and it was always a mess - but unless you are completely cornered and there is no possible escape, you really shouldn't be trying to take on someone with a lethal weapon when you have no arms to your name. Tl;dr: When in doubt, bugger off and fight another day. I'll leave this up for 24 hours in case anyone has anything to add.
