Mining aesthetic overhaul

Mining is purple. It's ugly. Let's make it not ugly- well, less ugly in regards to purple.

My intent was to have an Industrial RIG, void-suit. I think it worked.

And, what I'd like the 'uniform' of the miners to look like.

If these are liked well enough, I'll post the DMIs here and we can use them.

Colors seem to harsh and there's a tad too little contrast on the plating (the lighter brown bits, at least - if that's the plating.) honestly. While the front sprite looks good, the side sprites don't seem to mesh together very well. There's little distinguishing the arm from the rest of the body when facing to the sides, making it seem like he's just a walking blob. Also - the hand protrusions on the side sprites are there for a reason. Without it, the perspective is severely messed up. I suggest working in the boundaries of the previous sprite rather than expanding upon it.

Will do. This is what happens when you make sprites at 3AM LOL And yeah, I wanted to mimic the colour scheme of the industrial hardsuit without changing too much about the voidsuit design. Also, please assist me in this task.

But I really like the purple for miners. The orangish/purple contrast works really well in a job that's supposed to be high vis (due to the danger) but can't be exactly like engineering (which has far more yellow tones). If anything, the industrial RIG (if the intent is for the RIG to be used by mainly miners, as is customary) should be bringing in some purple highlights.

That is significantly worse than the original. Dude, do you even shade?

It's what I intend the colour scheme to become. Dark brown, light brown, grey and yellow- to be more in line with cargo. I also like how it looks, personally. The voidsuits, overall, from how I've always seen them seem to be sorta 'hazy', for lack of a better term, in comparison to other sprites. I dislike this, and want them to be more rich in colour and contrast.

They shouldn't be in-line with cargo. Cargo's dim colors work for on-station work. Mining's should have more to them. It's similar to how engineers and atmos techs are the same department, but have different color schemes. Please keep the purple, I beg.

Industrial RIG works fine for EVA, visually, and it mimics the cargo colours. Hence why I'm using it as a base for the colour scheme. I couldn't care less if for a few seconds we get a bit confused between Yellow orange Engineering suits, and yellow dark brown mining suits. Though, as shown above, dark brown, and yellow look nothing like yellow and orange.

As someone that does have issues with color and sprite recognition, I do care. Purple is used only for mining. Blue is used only for atmospherics. Black is trademark of security. Why would you want to make mining look more like engineering instead of keeping its unique color scheme? Why not keep the color scheme and bleed it into the RIG instead of taking the color scheme of the RIG and trying to bleed it into everything mining?

And toxins.

And security.

And robotics.

I meant for EVA gear. These jobs don't have EVA suits of those colors.

@AmoryBlaine The picture quality makes them seem even more alike, if possible. The only change seems to be sprite-wise. I honestly can't tell the color difference.

That'd be why I posted it, yes. So we could see how it looks. Either or, as I said, if they look similar at a glance, that's fine by me. They're still standing out from space, they both fall into the category of industrial grade EVA suit, so it makes sense that they're similar.
