Older Skrell are allowed to have experience in multiple fields as well! I thought it was the same for synths but I guess not. However, I don't think this is a reason to -1 Soul's app! I think this is an example of a common mistake even veterans make. Das my point here. Link to comment
sonicgotnuked
I will have to agree with Azande, it is a common mistake to create super doctors, super directors, etc. Only Skrell and Diona really have these but even then you have to be careful not to fall under the rule of powergaming. Regardless, Soul has mentioned they are willing to create a new CMO character with a limited knowledge set. Link to comment

No one else ever had to get a special called role as a "Senior Surgeon", for example, to make it clear that they can be asked questions. You should approach someone in LOOC or even ICly, if it fits. Almost no new player asks on their own anyway. You have to approach them and the "cool" "Senior Surgeon" title won't "make it clear" to anyone or help with that. You are a whitelisted IPC player, it can be expected that you haven't started playing on the server yesterday. All in all does it look like you want to be in the center of attention lately, yesterday, for example with being a "Deputy Chief Medical Officer". Such a thing simply does not exist, and you do not become a CMO, ICly or in real life, by being a trainee for a few weeks. That's just not how it works. I don't know who played the captain that allowed this, but it's not about him anyway. You've been interim for about 5 minutes before another CMO woke up - unlucky, but be it like that. You should've just given away the things from the CMO office and reassigend back to your normal rank (not this Senior Surgeon thing, I'd still be interested how you convince everyone to just allow that either). It looked like you just wanted to keep the CMO headset (and maybe the hypospray but I havent seen it on you so I give you the benefit of the doubt) and thus access to command channels, and, more importantly the additional access, which should not have been allowed, in no case. I saw you use that access first hand, so I know it was not revoked. You also used it to cure a viral outbreak yourself, despite having a biochemist on duty who even asked if she could help. All that looks like you just want to be in the center of attention - something that is absolutely not what being a head of staff is about. I believe you are just not fit for playing command and no one week trial will change that. Unless this has happened multiple times, this occurred under my CMO status (Whether Asclepius or Cala, I can't remember,) While I do remember bitching about it to a Skrell, (because that's just how my CMOs are) it was an IC issue and it was something my CMO allowed. I don't see how this should come into play with their Command application when the CMO that allowed it was willing to witness how they work. Soul isn't a bad command member. Have they done a few questionable calls? Yeah... but Every command player has done so. We're human. We make mistakes. I've mentioned to Soul the things I, personally, thought was a mistake and he has always been willing to hear me out and, most of the time, see the error in his call. Command is a learning process. We're not all born to do it properly. I've been playing ss13 Command for literal years and I still fuck up. Link to comment
KingOfThePing
Yeah alright. I get it. My input is unwished for and my opinion is "bad". You can all stop hopping on the bandwagon on bashing me now - I have learned my lesson to avoid commenting my honest opinion, and then some. Thanks for letting me know that. I've been playing ss13 Command for literal years and I still fuck up. This is exactly what I wanted to add. It's not whether or not you'll make mistakes, because you will, command or not. It's about owning up to them and fixing what you broke, ultimately changing your behavior so it happens less in the future. And Soul changed before my eyes from round to round as Sterben. He stopped lunging at every issue himself, and started delegating, only getting hands-on when it was absolutely necessary. Does he make mistakes? Damn right he does! BUT I never once seen him trying to wriggle out of a mess or trying to blame someone else. He owns them and strives to be a better player overall. As for the deputy/interim command thing, I wasn't here for that particular event. But Sterben did make me (as Jurgen Mauser) a deputy CMO and tasked me to run medbay a few times, while he took care of other, more important stuff. A good leader knows when they are spread too thin, and asking for help and delegating is not a sign of weakness but a sign of trust. A leader who doesn't delegate is the one you should fear... FearTheBlackout
Every time I've been under Sterben, everything's felt... pretty chill. They always know what they're doing, delegate well, and don't tend to interfere. I can't speak for Soul's newer CMO, but all in all, a +1. Link to comment
Juani2400
Hello. After review, we've decided to go ahead and pass your application. However, we will still keep an eye on your Command characters to make sure an improvement is made in regards to the complaints logged in this thread related to your characters' knowledge of more areas than what they realistically should. Learning is a process, and no one is born being an expert; I expect you to make efforts in this matter to adapt to the way Command characters should be played and portraiyed. If you require any guidance or have any questions about this, you are free to PM any of the Command Whitelist overseers. Enjoy! Link to comment
