Removing Secglasses: Feedback Thread

I obviously can't prove this as I don't have logs or notes from when aviators were added.

But just to add to the thread for a moment - both sprites were left with a promise in discord that we would always be able to choose between both sets of glasses. A lot of us did not like the aviator model (it's softened on me personally) and so to take it away kind of feels like we have been cheated. This conversation was in the security discord I believe, around the time the PR to add the glasses was made. Actually I think it was done when that in game vote happened.

My main issue with it was that it forced a choice between HUD or flash protection, while I would prefer flash protection always, but the HUD be optional. The classic sunglasses sprite is outdated, using pure black, rather than a lighter shade.

The pure black on the sunglasses actually works purely in the context that it contrasts with the skin of the wearer, whilst providing enough contrast for itself to allow for the white reflection/glare sprited onto it to work aesthetically.

If pure black is such an issue, then couldn't the sprites simply be altered to not have it? As for wanting flash protection on aviators always, couldn't they just be changed to always have it, and make the HUD part the toggled setting? The medical ones simply only toggle the HUD on/off, after all, for instance. I'm bad with code unfortunately, so I don't actually know how difficult it might be, but it sounds like both issues here could be easily solved, without having to remove one of the options.

I don't think there's an issue with maintaining both sprites. I've used both. Why limit the choices of what people can wear?

I feel it will be best to just stop looking at the results of a very old poll which is outdated, and make a new one. The results of this new poll will show us how to move forward, otherwise we will get nowhere.
