Icelance rifles are a full fledged rifle

An icelance pistol would be sick

@Alberyk is there a pistol variant?

Icelance rifles would be pretty sweet on the tajaran ambassador, tbh.  Culturally relevant, too!  But that's not really the subject.

I don't think your argument really holds much water except to you.  What I'm hearing is basically "if we allow this fun, interesting thing, then we might as well do this other fun, interesting thing!" presented as if it is a dangerous slippery slope instead of a logical progression of lore inclusion that I think we should be encouraging.

And in any case. Laser swords and icelance rifles are not illegal ordinance if there is a permit involved, just like every other fucking weapon that can be obtained by crew by means such as the merchant.  Just give them a permit with certain restrictions on their use of the weapon and bam, justification created.

My argument is that by progressing the weapons allowed on the station through NanoTrasen's official channels (thus opening a greater and far more visible channel of smuggling than the fairly rare/unknown uplink technology), the logical progression is to then increase the local Security's own weaponry. If e-swords become something NT explicitly allows (even for a singular exemption) then I'd expect counters to them (such as shorting them out with ion weaponry). The more common something becomes, the more one can expect local forces to be prepared to deal with said thing. Ex: Cardox grenades in the vault. As it stands, energy swords defeat armour and effectively any tool in the local arsenal besides tear gas (which in and of itself is trivially countered).

Expect that for lack of greater equipment, there will be a more rapid escalation. Ex: If an Unathi consular is a committing a crime, I am required to use the pistol or taser foremost against them due to the lack of safety in flashes or batons. And there will be zero valid defense to complain about people doing so when you have an energy sword.

There's also the interesting conclusion that if in any canon capacity a consular were to be revealed to be a dangerous criminal or spy, then consular weapons would be banned wholesale by NanoTrasen.

An icelance rifle is not a personal defense weapon, it's more like a home defense weapon. A laser sword is not really one either, considering its role is cemented in IC military circles as a highly lethal, concealable weapon for assassination or charging the front lines.

A ceremonial mace would be interesting for the Unathi consular, something along these lines?

Only suggesting a mace because swords are a little too commonplace and a sword for the Unathi consular would be washed out given the over-prevalence of ceremonial blades. Alb has ideas already for taj consulars so I won't make any suggestions.

I like both the mace and the energy sword suggestions.

I, myself, personally would see a 9mm pistol that can be concealed inside a pocket an assassin's weapon over an energy sword. The former is far more versatile and easier to hide.

A Chinese Dao is a poor choice for the Unathi, it just doesn't feel like the type of weapon a Noble Unathi would wield. If anything, I'd have them carry a weapon that demonstrates their strength; a key part of Unathi culture. The esword alternative that is more for "inflicting pain" feels odd too: Unathi honor opposes torture, which the description of this weapon suggests.

A sort of sonic mace, with similar stats to the telescopic baton, might seem more unique and logical to carry in this situation: it's a non-lethal weapon that carries the pride of the Unathi's physical might with it.

From what I've noticed in the news and on the wiki, Unathi really don't use blunt weapons. They're never mentioned, though I would be glad to see a mace or warhammer. I had an idea for a Kataphract weapon..

Force-Multiplied Warhammer (FMW Hammer) - A warhammer utilizing the same technology as experimental force gloves. Does the same damage as a kneebreaker hammer, but has a chance to send foes flying.
